My visa was approved on December 29th, by 8.15am appointment at the Lagos Consulate.

Singing mood: "The Lion of Judah has broken every yoke, he has given me the victory again and again, the Lion of Judah has broken every yoke, he has given me the victory again and again".

He is God and he never fails. Heaven and earth may pass away but his word, will remain the same. He showed me MIRACLE! This particular one being my 4th attempt, after the last 3 attempts; 2 attempts last year for visit visa, 2 again this year for students visa; the 2nd attempts for the students visa being the one with the golden and divine grace. I serve a living God!

From Omole phase 2 where i passed my night, i proceeded to berger to take a bus to Obalende, but eventually saw a cab going to VI, so i took it, but the car developed fault somewhere on the island where i with some 3 others had to alight and I took another bus to checking point bus stop, from there found my way to the "white house". As i dey go jejeli, na ein all these our runs boys come dey meet me one after the other, asking me to snap another passport picture, staple this, staple that, telling me that "information is power", being their chorus, as i heard it from many of them too. In my mind, i felt like, "na today?"..."ojo (rain) ti n pa (don dey beat) igun (vulture) bo, ojo ti pe (e don tey)...lol. Fast forwarded to the main queue, did all necessary security checks, while doing this, i was with no fear or pressure. I just put my hope in Christ.

Entering the big house, i first tried to sight the chinko guy that denied me in my previous attempt (he was now in window 5), i was with the mind that, "i rebuke myself from you and your type of last treatment today". People plenty for the hall oo, no be small thing, but i felt many were given, even students and old people them. I just told God, i must return home with my testimony. (Being what Pastor E.A Adeboye told Osinbajo during the electioneering campaigns on the day he prayed for him and his team, "Go and return with a testimony"...i key into that too with faith)

Fast forwarded again to Window 2 for my interview with a bearded white guy, where God himself spoke through me (same way he spoke through Elijah and fire heard him), because i said nothing special than those that could have been delayed. The following conversation ensued between us, viz;

Me: Good morning sir
VO: Good morning sir. Pass me your i20 please.
Me: I passed it
VO: How did you hear about this school
Me: I catalogued using the American Chemical Society website where i got to know about the research ongoing in the department by Prof. Kevin Tucker, the research is on analytical and environmental chemistry which also aligns with my area of interest and i have ( VO cuts in)
VO: How many schools did you applied to?

Me: 3; Southern Illinois University, Oklahoma State University and East Tennessee University.

VO: When did you graduate

Me: 2015, from Olabisi Onabanjo University, studied Industrial Chemistry
VO: What is your B.sc in?
Me: Industrial Chemistry
VO: What have you been doing since then?
Me: I have been working as a laboratory chemist in Teragro Commdodities Limited, where i monitor the online process specifications to ensure conformity with ISO standards, carry out quality control checks on our raw materials, (the oranges, mangos, pineapples) and their respective finished products. I am also in charge of keeping quality control records as directed by my manager. I also treat and analyse process water used in the factory.

While he was typing very fast, my eyes was on his gold versace ring and my mind with God, singing "I will never go back home today today, I will never go back home until am blessed, I will never go back home today today". Suddenly i just heard, "Well your visa has been approved". It was as if i was dreaming and i didn't believe the white paper until it came out of his window, because the thing looked like a blue paper under that their mercury fluorescent. I sang till i got home because only God can do this. Only him! Truly, when the Lord turned against the captivity of Zion, they were like they that dream.

My sincere appreciation to everyone that has been keeping this thread up and running, most especially Lagosismyhome; our mother-in-israel. May God keep your faith up and alive too. My special gratitude to my own personal person who opened my eye; Don4eye, my blunt friend who tells you what you might not want to hear but still don't give a damn; Oludare01, my general purpose adviser; Walspring, my man that knows all formality approach; Sureb0y, my own man that sounds like a lady and mother to me over the phone, his advices are superb, well out of experience; Slimmy2005, my own very texrem baba who also gave me the confidence to refire after my last denial, my own Profjah who also charged me to refire after my last denial and others that i didn't mention; the man of firm responses; Deetus, brightify and kenny216. May God rise up for your case whenever you dearly need him IJN-Amen!

PS: The only significant change in all of my application is God's presence and divine grace. Please seek him before trying something like this. Don't say because someone got his without praying hard or at all, then you try the same...Remember, our level of grace before God the Almighty differs alot.

My prayer to all those aspiring for their own great expectation of visa approval, is that in the name that is above every other name, may God's face shine upon you more than ever before, because your case is different...Amen!

After getting my F1 visa meant for spring 2017 resumption, but might not make it due to some official engagement in my place of work and which i have chosen to defer to Fall 2017 to later resume for my graduate program, and get a new i20 to that effect. Would the F1 visa issued to me now still be useful to travel for the Fall session by then in July?

In as much as i wouldn't want to derail the purpose of this thread, i will also not shy away from quickly reacting to your post.
We all have to be frank here, governance is continuum, you inherit both the assets and liabilities. You need not to throw blames at anyone, if you are sincere, have your plans and also up to the task. This govt hasn't been encouraging, lack focus and experienced managers. Fortunately, the govt inherited more of assets that could be easily capitalised and consolidated upon for our national progress, than liabilities, from the immediate past administration. But the govt seems to be only interested in the assets, while they quickly do away with the liabilities by throwing unnecessary jabs at past administration.
This administration from all indications, doesn't have the masses at heart, its all about victimisation and hunting of shadows.
Unfortunately what we are presently witnessing in the country in the political and administrative strata is all a game plan of 2019. The El-rufai, Amaechi, Fashola, Fayemi, Amosun, Mamman Daura, et al have formed another cabal, gotten hold of the govt from Buhari who has since lost being in charge, the reason an Aisha cried out recently. All in the bid to spoil the Fulani's man administration, make him worthless and unelectable by 2019 (if he eyes it by then), as El-rufai/Amaechi presidential ambition for 2019 is the major cause of our woes in the country at the moment. You can doubt this, but past events and future events will keep justifying it.

All be it, its not an unfamiliar political terrain. God will rise up at the right time to deliver us.

DeeTus:
Buhari has a very good plan for Nigeria but the problem here is, the past administration messed up the whole place before leaving.

Blaming this man everyday cannot solve any problem. At least, stealing has been controlled for now. It's no longer rob Peter to pay Paul.

Nigeria will bounce back if only everybody could make it happen. The Chinese experienced the same thing but look at where they are today. It's all about working together to make the country great again.

ID card doesn't really count, once they get to knownthat the document (i.e transcript) is going to a school. They will give you the student discount which is 8,700. But don't just assume that they will know, ensure u ask for it.

8: Kentucky
Each spring, the town of Louisville, Ky., hosts one of the country's biggest sporting and cultural events. The Kentucky Derby brings people from around the world who are drawn to Southern hospitality and world-class horse racing. For the state's residents, this sense of tradition and local charm extend throughout the year, coupled with affordable housing and a high quality of life. Lexington is another hub of horse country, with the world-famous Kentucky Horse Park. And it's the home of the University of Kentucky, whose top-ranked men's basketball team makes things lively each winter.
Major cities like Bowling Green and Louisville offer single-family homes at about $137,000, with a median family income in the mid-$30,000s. In the Lexington-Fayette metro area, single-family homes average $160,000, and median household income tops $46,000. With a population of just less than 300,000, even the "big" city of Lexington has a small-town vibe compared to many other major U.S. cities.
Of course, affordable housing isn't all Kentucky has to offer. The state capital of Frankfort provides one of the best areas for retirees and new grads due to its low property and income tax rates. In your spare time, hike the state's Blue Hills or get caught up in the college sports action at the University of Kentucky or University of Louisville.

7: Nebraska
Nebraska is still largely a rural state, but increasing productivity of the farms there has caused some decline in the rural population. And if rural or small-town living isn't for you, Omaha, with a population of more than 400,000, and Lincoln, at nearly 260,000 people, offer more urban amenities.
Partly because of strong agriculture, the unemployment rate in Nebraska has been at or below 5 percent during the recession, about half the national rate. And across the state, median household income has also been bucking the national trend, rising to more than $48,000 per family in 2011.
Yet prices of food and other necessities remain relatively low. In Omaha, median home prices were at an affordable $111,500 in late 2011. In Lincoln, they were at $125,000.
What's there to do in Nebraska, besides getting away from it all? There's rich history, with the Lewis and Clark and the Mormon Pioneer national historic trails winding through the state, dotted with forts, settlements and other points of interest. Buffalo Bill Cody's ranch is now a state historic park. Several rivers provide recreational opportunities, most notably the Missouri as it winds along the state's eastern border.

6: Idaho
Idaho gets overlooked sometimes, which can be a good thing when it comes to cost of living. There's a lot more to Idaho than potatoes, although there are plenty of those.
The state lies west of Montana, so it's obviously a real Western state. It has ranches and mines, mountains, deep forests, wild rivers and beautiful lakes. You can catch a trout or hear a coyote howl. Hell's Canyon, which runs along the Oregon border, is deeper than the Grand Canyon, and the state has some of the finest ski resorts anywhere. The environmental quality is good, with pristine waters flowing out of high mountains. The Lewis and Clark and Oregon trails wind through the state, and there is a rich Native American heritage, with the Nez Perce and Coeur d'Alene tribes (and others) inhabiting the area.
Idaho has the wide-open spaces that people love about the West, made sweeter by the low cost of living. Median household income in Boise, the largest city, was just under $51,000 in 2011, while median house sales prices there were right at $114,000. Prices are lower in cities such as Coeur d'Alene and Idaho Falls.

5: Utah
Like Idaho, Utah is a true western state, with ranches, forests, rivers and ski resorts. But Utah's main attraction may be its national parks – it has Zion, Bryce Canyon, Arches, Canyonlands, Capitol Reef, and the north rim of the Grand Canyon. Camping, hiking, rafting -- you name it, and you can find it in Utah. Fortunately, you'll find a low cost of living there as well.
Provo and Ogden both ranked high in The Daily Beast's 2011 rankings of cities that are the best places for "starting over" because of their relatively low cost of living and ample job opportunities. Provo was listed with a median income of $66,200, and a cost of living well below the national average. Ogden had a median income of $70,600 with a similarly good cost of living outlook. In the state's largest city, Salt Lake City, median home sales prices in Salt Lake City were at about $135,000, with median household income at about $44,000.
The small town of Farmington (population 18,300) hit No. 12 on CNNMoney's 2011 list of Best Places to Live. Farmington was praised for being close enough to commute to Salt Lake City while retaining its small-town charm and affordability.

4: Texas
While the state is known for its hot, dry climate, Texas is also home to some of the country's best beaches, which provide residents with an affordable way to beat the heat. As one of the largest states in the U.S., Texas offers some of the country's biggest cities, but it's also home to dozens of small towns for those looking for a slower pace of life. A large number of colleges and military operations allow Texas to maintain a strong, stable economy and also help bring more young people to the state.
In a 2010 list of the top youngest towns, Texas cities took five of the top 20 spots, reflecting the large number of families and college students scattered throughout the area. Colleges like Texas A&M University and the University of Texas influence the culture and arts of surrounding towns.
With a median home price at $130,000 and a median household income in the mid $50,000s, the city of San Antonio is among the nation's most affordable cities. Famous historical sites such as the Alamo, along with numerous bars and restaurants in the downtown Riverwalk area, make San Antonio a top spot for young people. For the pace of a larger city, both Houston and the Dallas-Ft. Worth area offer median family income of about $50,000, with single-family homes averaging less than $150,000.
When it comes to quality of life, it's hard to beat the quirky, creative atmosphere in Austin. In fact, residents maintain a grassroots campaign to "Keep Austin Weird," paying homage to the city's unique culture. As an example, during the summer months, among the highlights of Austin culture are sunset cruises on Lady Bird Lake downtown to view the nightly emergence of more than a million Mexican free-tail bats from under the Congress Avenue Bridge.

3: Arkansas
Outdoor enthusiasts can choose from any number of U.S. states that offer well-preserved forests and plenty of opportunities to commune with nature. Unfortunately, many of these states also have such a high cost of living that it's hard for residents to find enough free time to enjoy themselves outside of work.
Instead of struggling to find affordable housing in places like Colorado or Hawaii, consider Arkansas. With a median salary of about $40,000, and housing prices averaging just more than $100,000, you'll be able to maintain a high standard of living and still have time to relax. The state's 51 parks and spectacular Ozark Mountains have earned it the nickname "The Natural State." Best of all, you'll get to enjoy the beauty of four distinct seasons with a relatively mild climate year-round.
When you're ready to take a break from the great outdoors, Arkansas' larger cities offer a focus on the arts, as well as a unique cultural history and sense of Southern hospitality. With fewer than 200,000 residents, the capital city of Little Rock still remains fairly small compared to other major U.S. cities. In Little Rock, single-family homes cost $127,500 on average, and median family income hovers around $59,000. Small towns such as Springdale and Rogers give you a chance to know your neighbors, but they still offer affordable housing and excellent prospects for job growth.

2: Oklahoma
Many states in the Midwest enjoy a well-deserved reputation for family-friendly atmosphere and low cost of living. With a median income of $42,000, and a median home price around $100,000, Oklahoma is where you'll find some of the Midwest's most affordable cities. Don't be fooled by Oklahoma's agricultural image – the state houses several major urban areas, as well as some big-name schools that bring exciting athletic and cultural events to the area.
New residents are often surprised to learn about Oklahoma's rich history, which blends American Indian culture with the story of the Wild West cowboy. Experience Indian powwows that celebrate regional tribes, along with bronco-busting rodeos that offer edge-of-your-seat excitement.
The Oklahoma Arts Council provides grants for many different types of creative ventures, and it also acts as an advocate for the state's artistic community. By helping to spread the word about the financial benefits of investing in the arts, the council has successfully convinced state representatives to increase funding and include aesthetic specifications in many building projects.
In Tulsa and Oklahoma City, a median household income of about $38,000, combined with single-family homes at less than $120,000, makes it easy to enjoy a high quality of life for almost any family. Even small towns like Stillwater manage to offer a high level of affordability while allowing residents to enjoy minimal traffic and a sense of small-town charm.

1: Tennessee
From thriving metropolitan areas to historic small towns, Tennessee is known for its young population and surprisingly rich and varied culture. Best of all, this home of legends like Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley offers the second lowest overall cost of living in the U.S, allowing new grads, young families or retirees to stretch their dollars to the max [source: CNBC].
Statewide, the median housing price remains around $138,000, with a median household income of about $42,000. For some of the most affordable housing, consider cities like Knoxville or Memphis, which are located along the eastern and western edges of the state. Median housing prices in these cities hover around $140,000 while salaries remain fairly high.
Much of Tennessee's population is centered in the capital city of Nashville, as well as the surrounding metro area. If you're looking to get the most bang for your buck, check out the town of Murfreesboro, located just south of Nashville.
Because of Tennessee's south-central location, residents enjoy four distinct seasons with relatively mild weather year-round. The mighty Mississippi meanders along the western portion of the state, while the Great Smoky Mountains offer unlimited outdoor activities and spectacular views along the state's eastern border. If world-class hiking and camping aren't your thing, head into Nashville or Memphis for some of the country's best live music venues. Many Tennessee towns are also remarkably well preserved, with local shops and restaurants housed in historic structures along picturesque main street areas.

Education / Re: How To Achieve High Scores On The GRE by Governoryomi: 9:58pm On Jul 20, 2016
Cc: governoryomi
ponpon:
I got to jkk around 8am, hoping the exam would start by 10am, since it was a standardized exam, we didn't start till like 11am.

I met one nairalander at the venue, nice guy, he recognized me and came to greet me, even during this hardship faced in nigeria.

The whole venue was very boring na him I spot one unilag babe, we got chatty, all gre fly comot for my head.

Did the data capture, they collected everything we had on and gave us pencil.

Started with the first section, it was blessed, as prescribed on the 1st page, I used Kaplan for my issue, it was smooth, It was a topic about studying the a society and the city, and just showing that a city is Germane to study of a society or not, I didn't practice with ets pool of topics because I wanted the exam to be like a exam were I would be able to think creatively, and not try and remember a topic I have practiced earlier.

The argument aspect was better, but I couldn't conclude well, Manhattan book helps you in seeing 1001 flaws, too much points too little time, I articulated them well, but my conclusion didn't pull through about 5 lengthy paragraphs.

2nd section was Verbal, I knew my strong point in verbal was Reading comprehension, the first set of text completion were abstruse, I couldn't find the pattern easily, I answered some correctly(maybe), I moved to my the RC, 1st Rc was short , blasted it, under 2 mins, next was the usual 4 questions very long RC, I practiced with coadcoax, so long RCs were a blessing, unlike the short ones filled with so much logic, long RC I read it calmly, I identified the main idea, the tone, and other senrenre, I wrote the RC down like a tweet, so the whole thing was fixated to my mind, Sentence equivalence on the Real gre is not the type you see in those books oooh, they are not the popular synonyms, they make sense individually. If you look too much at the options, another meaning enters your head.

3rd was the Quant, In my mind I said this is the time to shine, the questions you see on the 1st part of the gre are the ones gruber made is 25 strategies about, there is no need for too much calculations from the 1st to like 5th question, just your the test of knowing that a variable can carry any sign unless stated and Co, i wondered why ets always reiterated that to you should know questions you miss during practice, they have a format and these questions would hunt you, I fumbled in all the 3 data set, I didn't practice data set in the last 4 days of the exam, I thought it was moimoi as usual, but the charts I saw!... I missed the usual compound interest questions which I always miss, you won't see this interest and Co clearly stated I 5lb Manhattan and the rest,I also missed the independent probability question which I always miss, I missed like 5 or so In this section.

4th section verbal, it was easier than the 1st,it was clear I either performed woefully in the 1st part or It was the experimental section, it was straight forward, the text completion were the normal ets style, clue, pointer and gre vocab, RC was harder for me now, they were short, they were more and would require more time. Only one on RC scaled through

The 5th was quant, the first question was like a RC it was long, from practice tests, I noticed the 1sr questions are tough, the question after quantitative comparism tough and after data set too tough, they are time Consumers, but I made a mistake which I always knew was a mistake, I wanted to ensure I performed well In this part because I Don mess up for the 1st quantitative, I was solving to the letter, lo and behold I met one of my favorite missed questions, instead of skipping, I ran ri mo , chop valuable 3 minutes, moved on to the data set, the one was even more complex 8 mins, 7 more question to go, I didn't know one there my eye just dey see black, next question the sum of a recursive set that is in every ets material, I missed it and he choop time, I was able to run through the last 3 questions about to click answer for the last time dissappear, I said to myself, this is the end. When I clicked the next section and it was verbal, none of my quant was experimental they were the real shit!!!!

Last section, I clicked continue continue continue, I didn't even look, I said to myself, I Don fail gre, I looked at the guy at my side that one didn't have clue, I garnered hope, I just did the last section, one kind one kind, even RC, I skimmed for the pointers and answer questions using the bad options methods,

I finished my Gre and I told myself, omo u Don cast, 65,600 Don burn, I didn't want to report scores...

I reported scores blah blah blah...

Quant - 156
Verbal - 154

310...

156 was my minimum score in Kaplan online test, I had 2 156,1 158,1 162...in verbal I had 147s highest was 150...

Princeton I had 153 in my 1st quant, 162 in my 2nd, 150 and 153 were my verbal scores

Manhattan test 159 quant, 154 verbal.

Power prep 2 149, 158 were my quant scores yeah I did the power prep test 1 twice, verbal 150,152... I didn't do power prep 2 2nd test, I read it like 3 days to the exam..

My little advice, the 1st page of this trend can give you a good gre score but find what works for you.

Verbal, : verbal grail, coadcoax and 1014 Princeton, magoosh flashcards and that new meme software that dude recommended days ago is very good, but it was late

Quant : 5lb Manhattan, official guide, ets quant set, kaplan online quiz and gruber you are good ...

Need to buy a single text book buy the official guide and get a good Internet connection, the Internet is the best resource...

To access the Kaplan online portal for 2016, the answer is text

More gist dey I just gats summarize...

Danjaninja special thanks sir... You are a blessing and bless up to everyone who helped me and the Facebook group was the place I got confidence after the 149,150 score in power prep 1 test...
The difference from the 149 and my 156 score now was the material I used to study.....
