Kswife: PPR Post!!!
I specifically created a login just to post my PPR gist. I have been reading FOC since
Background: Been hearing about Canada migration since 2016, but didn't follow up because work was sweeting me. Then we had a massive layoff in our office in 2017 and even though I wasn't affected, it shook my soul. I decided in January 2018 that lai lai I will get Canada pally even if I don't use it.
Genesis: January 2018, I started by opening a mutual funds account in my daughters name and moved all my savings into it. In February, I checked CRS calculator and realized that as PA, my husband didn't need to do anything and we would get a score of 451. Then I decided I would do Wes from March Salary, IELTS from April Salary and hopefully apply in July and get our pally before December (God laughed at my puny plans). All these stories, I didn't tell my husband oh. After all, he did not need to do chin chin.
Exodus: Started WES oh, didn't know that I did not need to verify Naija cert since I had foreign Masters. I started Uniben wahala, as usual "Madam, we don't have your transcript". I couldn't believe it, which transcript did you send to the school abroad when I did Masters, they were looking at me as if to say when you finish your confusion, you will sort it out. I sha paid about 30k and got it sent to WES within 6 weeks, meanwhile oyinbo school had sent to WES within 1 week. For IELTS, I got exam date of May 12th, aced first attempt with LWSR - 9,7.5,8,9. I was on a roll (or so I thought). Jumped into the pool in June and got ITA immediately by June 25th (ghen ghen!!!). At this point, hubby was aware and just watching me as if to say "well done oh".
Leveticus: I guess I didn't do thorough research, because part of my mind was still in Naija, getting promotions at work with salary increase. When all the placeholders appeared, I saw placeholders for 3 foreign police reports for hubby and I (Yepa!!!). I had to start that research, finally able to pay for it and they said it would take 3 weeks. I sha wanted to ensure I submit before the whole biometrics tingy would be implemented. So within that 3 weeks, I did naija police report, did medicals at IOM July 5th and started filling the forms. I am not a patient person, I wasn't thorough with filling the forms, I couldn't remember all the information of where I lived in the last 10yrs, bla bla. I was just filling my parents house address. Hubby could not remember his either, I was calling my inlaws to confirm stuff about him. Finally, everything was complete and POF sorted (a lot of garri was soaked to complete POF as entire months salaries were just being shook inside the mutual funds account).
Numbers: July 26th, I submitted application oh and started planning for December movement (God definitely was chuckling quite loudly at this point).
Deuteronomy: Medicals passed Aug 15th (3 weeks from AOR)
Joshua...Malachi (Sept - Dec): Dead Silence
Matthew (January): 6 months elapsing, raised CSE to find out Visa office and was told Accra. I just decided to forget it and started planning a vacation. I cannot comangoand kill myself. My friends asked what would happen if I were told to bring my passport while away, I Yimu'd them and continued my plans for Feb vacation. Even had the temerity to take from my POF to pay for ticket and accommodation (is it CIC's money rme).
Mark (February); Middle of vacation Feb 22nd, gba gam! I saw Accra Famous 5 request, I don't think anyone has completed POF the way I did. I swear down, my POF was back to 120% within 6hours from receiving the letter. I delayed though and didn't sent my response until I returned in March.
Luke....Jude (March - April): Silence, even though lots of people were celebrating PPR, I started fearing oh and criticizing my own application. In fact I told all my friends that we would be denied. I had already started calculating WES cost to convert hubby's foreign certificates as our scores would have dropped due to my age increasing and that would bring it back up, so we could reapply.
Revelation (May 7th 11:11am): donotreply@cic popped up on my browser and on logging in, finally finally finally. However we have been constrained to travel before medicals expires
Thats my PPR Story 9MONTHS AND 11DAYS. The Lord has Favored me indeed. Im tapping into it |

fizzile: Decision to migrate: November 2017: At this point, it dawned on me that my stay in the UK was coming to an end. I possibly couldn't believe my eyes until i got a mail from Home Office reminding me that i had some months left on my Visa. I was like na so this people wan thank me for spending millions running a Masters programme? At this point, i pinched myself and i was like..."oboy wetin u wan go do for naija"? To start from the scratch? Mbanu !!! I thought of applying for scholarships in the UK and US but for the UK, i was like never!!!.. not after breaking my back all in d name of warehouse jobs...lolzz omor i huzzle shaaa oooo. Options like residency in Australia and Canada became my best bets but I rather chose the Canada route and came across this thread..the rest is history.
IELTS: My first IELTS test was in the UK, and i prepared for two weeks. First IELTS was LRWS: 7.5, 7.5, 8.0, 8.5...I was so excited thinking that was gonna fetch me a good CRS not knowing i needed atleast an 8.0 in the listening band. I really appreciate the great guys here who encouraged me to retake the test. Got back to Nigeria in January 2018 and decided to retake IELTS, this time around in March. Had ample time to prepare and was very much relaxed in the hall. My second IELTS test was LRWS: 8.0, 7.0, 7.5, 7.5 which was enough for me. As for the materials i used, i basically used online platforms like ieltliz, ieltsbuddy.com and ielts-up.com.
ECA This was straightforward as i evaluated just my Masters degree. WES was at my service and did the needful. Being a foreign degree, it was a smooth process for me, and i had my evaluation done within a month or thereabout.
MEDICALS This was quite straightforward. Had mine at Prime Medicals in Port Harcourt. Unfortunately, they are no longer part of the process.
PROOF OF FUNDS(POF) Used 100% gift deed from my dad. This was transferred to my savings account and transfer document for that was secured. Many have been of the opinion that notarizing the gift deed isn't necessary. Personally i notarized mine. For the gift deed, i simply followed the format put up by wakanowdotcom. His post was really helpful. Other documents i submitted are: >6-month bank statement showing inflow of cash and transfer of POF. >Also got a printout of currency converter (oanda and xe.com) as at day of submission, >LOE explaining source of funds and bulk sum and, > bank reference letter. NO PAYSLIPS WAS INCLUDED. I contemplated including one, but when i got necessary advice from the likes of Tojued and Newmum0615, i had to submit my application without including payslips. Happytbaby, glitteringstar, ugoiyke79e, thanks for all your mails. I so disturbed these guys and trust me, they were of great help.
EMPLOYMENT: This was the point i needed my God to step into the matter...lolzzzz.. I actually worked in a firm where i was paid in cash, and all i did was to get a reference letter from my boss in CIC format. I also included an LOE stating the reason i was paid in cash. It was indicated on the letter that i was paid in cash. As for online presence, the firm had no online presence like a website, and i had to including a screenshot of the firm's registration page on the CAC's website. Lastly, i included my boss's complimentary card just incase they decide to reach him directly. In all, i committed everything to God. One prayer i kept praying was, God please blind them from all my inadequacies and trust me this prayer worked like magic..hahahahha.
PCC: I applied for Nigeria and UK PCC. Mr Moshood was of great help when i applied for the Nigeria PCC. Though he made some errors on my PCC, but Lucia was very helpful as she helped me apply for another and scanned it to me.
ADRs: I recieved my first ADR on Sept 20th and it was to fill Schedule A form, of which i did immediately and submitted. Second ADR came in October, which was to make payment for RPRF. Made this payment immediately. Third ADR came in and lo and behold, i thought it was PPR not knowing i had another form to fill up. This time around, it had to do with filling the IMM5406 form (additional family information). As usual, i responded swiftly.
GCMS NOTES: Ordered first set of gcms notes on the 24th of November, 2018, and for over 60days it wasn't delivered. Mailed them severally and kept getting all sort of excuses. Atlast, had to re-order and it arrived on the 9th of Feb, 2019. Everything look cool. The wait continued
In all these, it's been a long wait...some will say long overdue but i must say it is worth the wait. At some point i almost lost it 'cos i was beginning to get fed up with responses from CIC agents. Disturbing CIC agents became a hobby to me, as i kept calling and calling...dats how i spoke to one agent thrice on different occassions..lolz...but shun, this lady's voice is something else...often felt at home each time i got connected to her. Will miss her though...hope we get to meet in Cannyland. Psychologically, this process drained me..imagine friends always wanting to know wats going on in this life of dis dude who just got back from UK...enemies at the gate i must say...but God pass them. I no wan mention all dos "cats" (babes) wey don chop my UK money run....lolzzz.. dey go soon come back to chop Canny money...Chop keee una there...hahahahaha...
Emotionally, it was hard for me...thinking about the whole process and thinking about a sick dad who keeps asking..."my son, when are they gonna send the mail?...are you sure this thing will work out?...it became a regular thing that each time i watched his face and have the thoughts of FSW Express Entry, i simply got weak. One thing is for sure, he gave me a big smile early this morning when i got the golden mail..been a while i saw him smile though. One thing is for sure, i am happy he is strong to see this become a reality....no worry, na canny doctors go treat u las las. Maybe all those great doctors on this thread.
I must say a huge thank you to everyone who chipped in one info or the other, you guys were of great help. Smslive, indeed you are a great oracle. Fresty, we global now !!!! Cheee !!! thanks for being a buddy indeed...God bless you real good.
To my family...u know yourselves, AOR August Whatsapp group and August ITA whatsapp group, you guys rock.. Love y'all.. Mo, u aiit? init?
To the newbies or those in the process, stay strong, stay focused, asked questions, i repeat ask questions.. read...read...read too...this journey is one that requires even the smallest person beside u.. Throw away pride and ego, and be humble enough to seek information. It is key. ABOVE ALL, BE CLOSE TO YOUR GOD...IT MIGHT SOUND FUNNY, BUT TRUST ME NOT EVERYONE WHO SEES YOU GOING TRU DIS PROCESS WISH U WELL...HENCE, BE CLOSE TO YOUR GOD.
TIMELINE:
One funny thing that happened prior to when i got the ghost update yesterday morning was that, i ordered for second GCMS notes in the morning, and after some minutes i got the ghost update, trust igbo guy like me naa.. i hurriedly mailed gcmsbuddy to cancel my order and initiate a refund. epdcan: Its COPR! #teamsilentreaders
So, sometime in 2017 a friend of mine mentioned Express Entry to me. For some weird reason, relocation was never a topic in my home. I told her all these travelling matters are always a long thing. (Some canadian lawyer had quoted one ridiculous amount years before when I just enquired for fun as it popped up on my Facebook timeline so I don free my mind) She said it was super easy and said just write ielts first..."you will pass, it is just english" she said. I did not research further and just went ahead to register the boo and I. IELTS- Result came out LRWS 8.5, 8.5, 8, 7.5
ECA- She said "do WES" Meanwhile a colleague of mine had just "tissued" (left the country for...wait for it .....canada!) Realised lots of people had left, I apparently had my nose in the sand all the while. Anyway, NASU strike delayed WES for months but eventually they came through. Went back to friend and asked "So what next?" She said to create profile...I did with the help of another beautiful colleague of mine. CRS 451, few days later, friend called congratulating me...I was confused! Said there was a draw at 444 (ITA JUNE 25, 2018-did not even know to monitor for a draw) I was excited but not fully because POF for my family of 4 was not ready. Needed a couple more months for pof to be complete. (Just assumed I needed 10m, not sure where that thought came from)
Friend said to do a gift deed, decided not to bother.
Read somewhere application was now 60 days and not 90days any longer. Prayed earnestly for a miracle and when 60days was drawing close, decided to decline the invitation. Logged in to decline and saw that I had over 30days to submit, apparently the change to 60days was made a day after my ITA. I was super excited! Did all the doables Medicals- qlife (had booked earlier) and somewhere in the middle east for bae (this was expensive mehn, flight and all...Lagos people we are enjoying) Pcc- used Mr Abass- got his contact on the whatsapp group my dear colleague had added me to. 8k for both of us
POF- treasury bills, mutual funds, savings account, some small investment savings/products + pension funds. Over Pof was now "worrying me" (I had forgotten all these investments when I was worrying...smh)- these matured and were rolled over without informing IRCC
Friend mentioned a nairaland group, visited briefly and could not make out a lot of things and decided to take a step back (funny as I love to read, just could not deal on that day)
Work reference letter- typed and gave HR and was signed and stamped. It was a bit blurry as I was sort of self employed but had the HR of the company we were created under (long story) sign the letter.
AOR- 16th September
Submitted then came back to read this group. There and then, some errors I had made started surfacing. Raised a CSE shortly after for a trip I had omitted on an old passport
Raised another when I felt I had chosen a wrong NOC for spouse
Was so paranoid.
Learnt we were to upload fingerprint pages we did during PCC applications, I only uploaded the certificate
Learnt not declaring side hustle could be seen as misrepresentation, etcetera. Hey! It was not funny. Eventually decided to keep the prayers up and leave God to do His thing.
MEP/BIL came on 11th October RPRF request was seen 27th October. Paid the next day. Was so sure I was close...IRCC had other plans. I had decided I won't ask for my VO, request GCMS notes or anything. Just wait patiently for PPR. Hmm... My mind no gree me. Kept thinking about the last amount paid into my account and how I didn't explain it. How I did not show the source of the 'monies' for tbills and all. How google will expose me and my not-so-side business I now got "How to get a job in Canada" mail, figured I had been moved to London VO as was assumed here in those days.
Anyway, joined an absolutely amazing WhatsApp group....the best ever! (I was in one that had people of different nationalities but the pressure here was too much....permutations, assumptions, questions, once I saw a link here, I joined and left the other Choose Peace!) Created for October AOR but they accepted September somebody like me and group was renamed
When I hit 5months post aor, decided to call CIC, agent was nice, told me eligibility was met but Criminality and Security not started. Told me to only call back if by end of May I did not get my Ppr (shuoo?! End of May kwa?) I thanked him and decided to wait till the 6-month mark. Oh, found out Visa office was Ottawa too.
6 months came and went unceremoniously. My amazing friends in my group were so sweet and encouraging. The Lord told me not to worry. Held on to that and decided not to call or mail Ralph or anything...till 7/8months. I was in IP2 from aor and had gone back to IP1 after biometrics/rprf (not sure now) So I was waiting for IP2 mail. I wasn't checking my profile too regularly either.
4th of April, needed to check the time when I woke up and saw the email icon on my screen, swiped down to check time and saw "Ready for Visa" mail...to be honest I was NOT expecting it. Also noticed background check was now in progress. Mail came in again next day (wish I could give one out)
AOR-PPR- 6 months and 20days!
Submitted 8th and Copr received 30th It has ended in praise (This was the abridged version) I want to give ALL the glory to God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit! I pray we all share testimonies soon especially EVERYONE in my Sept/October AOR group.
P.S. please read and read. Gulped down so much from here and the sister thread. Try not to be scared...let people's stories of their challenges drive you to do all you can and not into fear. God will come through for us all. Thank you everyone helping out here- God bless you! Woow |
