There are a least 1 million Nigerians in the USA without proper papers and most times law enforcement/immigration does not even have time for them, immigration/ICE is focused more on Hispanics and those from Mexico. A sharp Nigerian would have found someone to marry and get his or her papers, it only takes 6 to 8 months and costs between 7k to 15k dollars minus official fees. Your observation is very true...The truth is, he is the only one that know why he had to kill the little girl and I doubt if he is going to confess.

What we know is that, he killed the mother, then poisoned the little girl and then turn on the gas cooker and in his statement to the Police, he claimed that, the gas must have killed both them.

So, from the above, it is safe to speculate that...killing the little girl was part of his cover up plans....the truth is save for a confession, everyone else including the Police, even with the benefit of proximity to the crime scene and access to it, have to speculate as to what his motives were.
