Education / Re: When Should A Child Start School? by greatestman(m): 8:42am On Jun 22
I think that age 3 you mentioned is just your thought, not standard.
Because, Nigeria Policy in Education pegged the age around 5 - 6 (I can't say exact).
An intelligent child will continue to be intelligent irrespective at what age he/she start school.
Peculiarities abound why people send their children to school at any age.
For example, my wife is a teacher all my children from 3 months are already enrolled in her school creche. And none of them had less than 90% as average(At primary level). Infact None of them had anything less than Distinction/Excellent so far, so good. And from age 2 I do enroll them to different school from where she is teaching. They have proven to me they are excellent student.
What I am saying is, children are different no particular age is too bad or too good for them to start school.

Family / Re: My Wife And 1 Are Expecting Our First Child And This Is What Is Happening by greatestman(m): 6:40pm On Jan 11
Valoromega:
We are currently expecting our first child , she should give birth within a this month.

She has requested money for baby things and I have given her over 400k but she hasn’t both the basic things she needs. She usually go with her mom to the market to get the things but they haven’t even both the things the baby will need in the hospital.
They went and bought baby wardrobe even though we already had baby wardrobe that was given to us on our wedding , she also both baby duvet without buying bed , the clothes she bought was for a month old baby , she didn’t even buy the first wear the baby would use , so far I haven’t even seen anything tangible she has bought with 400k plus I’ve given her, she hasn’t even bought the things she needs after delivery .

I don’t know if it’s her mom that’s telling her to buy those things, the mom doesn’t even care where the money comes from , she just demands that we buy this and that .

I was thinking the money I gave her would be enough to buy the most basic things she and the baby needs , now she’s demanding more

Please buy this first. This is hospital list given to me for my second child.
My daughter which is 2 years plus and happened to be my first child I didn't spend up to N300k for virtually all we need and they're of great quality which my second born is still using.
But you know people taste differs.

@greatestman at least you responds is giving me hope i will work towards that fouye, although am having two choice pls did you think a master's in computer science will be easier? thanks

Will be much more easier.
Because in my alma mater I know of a lecturer that did his first degree, masters in Mathematics and PhD in Computer Science.
But these depends on peculiarity of the university. And Area of specialization.

Mention the universities that will give him admission.

You are talking about the same top up program NUC has already warned people to desist from. Dey there dey deceive yourself. Why will he suffer to have Masters and suffer to get 10 years industrial experience before he gets his COREN Certification? You are expecting somebody who can't analyze simple RLC circuit to go for masters in Engineering. You think Engineering is Okada riding

Unfortunately I am talking to the wrong person.

For this LETTER you just showed, ABU ZARIA were very arrogant that period to obey COREN Rules.
As of KWASU many had registered their COREN with the certificate.
By the way I want to help OP with advice.
You don't need my advice.
Should I tell you the truth, nothing to be proud of as graduate of EEE.
Infact I am almost done with my second degree in Mechatronics Engineering.
This is nothing to be proud of.

And very unfortunate to learn you are studying Elect/Elect now.
I graduated 7 years ago with Degree in Elect/Elect.
I am telling someone the reality on ground, and you are saying what you assume you know.

What is he topping up? Electrical machines? Electrical power Systems? Microelectronic devices and Circuits? Power Electronics? Communication Engineering? Electromagnetic fields and waves? Measurement and Instrumentation? Control systems? Digital Signal processing?

The guy no get anything to top up. He has to start from the scratch

All these courses you mentioned start from 300 Level.
100 & 200 Level are foundational courses.
If he is serious let him start from there.
Should I let you, many Universities will give him PGD in Electrical/Electronics Engineering. But he will have issue getting COREN(He will need to have like 10 years post graduation experience) plus his Masters.
Having his B.Eng via this Programme solve his problem.
Please if it's something you don't know, don't mislead.
And if you have better alternative mentioned, starting from scratch is NO! for a graduate of sciences.

I am saying this i.e if the O.P is serious as well.

Good day everyone, I found out that i have slim chance of studying EEE , and i am planning to change to mathematics and then fall back to EEE at masters. Is it possible? Or what advise do you have for me? Thanks

Enroll for Top up and Conversion Programme at either FUOYE, KWASU, BELLS UNI OF TECH ETC. THEY WILL GIVE YOU ADMISSION STARTING FROM 300 LEVEL AND IS FLEXIBLE.

IF YOU ARE TRULY SERIOUS, THIS IS THE BEST ADVICE.

help2022:

No, it was not like this in the beginning and even if it were, there is already a law that abolished conditional pass. The tears and resources we put in should not be in vain simply because he failed one course. My family is in deep pain. This is not fair. A system that is hardened to the plight of it's own people should be reviewed.
As it stands now we do not even know what is on his mind as he is just weak. I am particularly scared for him.

You are a very good brother that everyone need. God bless you.
For your brother, let him take it in good faith and wait to resit. Sometimes success is upsidedown, and this re-sit will be his success story for greatness and great people do have stories. Like in my case. I had delay in graduating (not because of carryover), but ASUU strike and renovation going on in the school then. Seven months, after graduation before I was mobilized for NYSC (another delay). But one year after NYSC I got a job with Federal Government Parastatal. Please tell him not to be hard on himself. Let him critically think what makes him to fail that particular course. And besides he is only having one course to write, let him use this opportunity to settle his grudges with the course by scoring 100%.

Quota system Universities aren't to be trusted. Once I see the university on application letters I dump it in the bin.

If it's not OAU, UNN, UniBen, Unilag, FUTO, FUTA, UI, Covenant, UniIlorin, Babcock and Yabatech please go and apply for tradermoni.

Lol.. Jim Ovia has B.Sc. degree in Business Administration from Southern University, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA and not Auchi Poly. It's was Tony Elumelu that went to Ambrose Ali University (note that Ambrose Ali of the 80s had a very high educational standard, thanks to the man it was named after) but even Tony elemelu still went and got a Master's from Unilag and he hardly identifies as someone who went to AAU. My indices is the fact that when you look at this schools which I listed, it has and known to produce some of the smartest people in nigeria, if you even look at tech start-ups as an example that have gone national in the past 10years they usually come from this universities. Plus have you noticed that in top universities in the south you hardly see any northerner....most abokis won't cope in a school like oau, one year in Whitehouse and they'd drop out.

Same South West that I am doing my second degree?
Thank God I came down to South West.
People say what they don't know or hear say.
I did my First Degree in a University of Technology at North. And is way rigorous.
I am topping my class at the moment.
Many of my friends have secured competitive scholarships in USA, UK, GERMANY and China etc.

Politics / Lessons Learned From Obaseki Yesterday Victory by greatestman(m): 6:40am On Sep 21, 2020
Lesson learned:
Always take risk.
Obaseki took big risk, not even sure of getting PDP ticket talkless of winning the main election.
In the course of his decision, he lost many friends, resignation up and down.
Meaning not all your decision(s) will go well with your family and friends. Do it any how so long your conviction allowed you(lesson learned).
Some friends are fair weather friends (lesson learned).
Quality of friendship is not determined by length; Wike and Co., stood for Obaseki against all odd, unlike some of his old friends in APC. (lesson learned).
Loyalty is earned not bought, Philip Shaibu stood with Obaseki, despite been cajole with opportunities to leave him, but he chooses to follow him with uncertainty (Lesson learned).
Personal conviction supersedes all human ideas or suggestion in your path to destiny.(lesson learned)

Edo will be the easiest.
The voting pattern favours Apc.

Edo central votes re always divided

Ize iyamu won Edo south last time , now it will be shared between obaseki and ize iyamu because of power of incumbency.

Edo North- Apc will win landslide and that is the end of the road for obaseki

A State with Highest number of Senators and Representatives in favour of PDP? State that lost to PDP in presidential election despite the ruling party chairman from the State. Just say rigging but no voting patterns that favours APC.

Linzo:

My little piece, do not go to two years university B.sc program been offer in some private university if you actually want to progress in your career, it a rule in Nigeria academic system that for any one to be awarded a B.sc he or she must study for at least 3 academic sessions or full-time 6 semesters. Have you seen anybody that top up the 2 year B.sc in Salem university that ever progress in career wise even in your bank? No!!
Please note this, with the 2 years top up program you cannot use it for master program both in Nigeria and abroad. My advice get DE and be admitted into 200level. Also note this! No public university in Nigeria admit students into 300 level for 4yrs course. For 5yrs course you will be admitted into 300 level and 200_level for 4yrs course with your HND.

Speak what you know. Many are about to finishing their masters with Degree from this Programme. Many PhD holders are trooping in their numbers.

Six semesters in 2 years is same with Six Semester in 3 years. Just the former is tasking. And the programme is accredited by NUC.

Education / Re: What Is The Difference Between School, Faculty And College? by greatestman(m): 1:00pm On Feb 01, 2020
fergie001:
It's all semantics....for administrative purposes.

A school will streamline into courses in a particular subject area.

A faculty position entails a more broader organisational structure.

In Nigeria.....Universities of Technology use School
Universities of Agriculture use College
Conventional Universities use Faculty

A college will not always be headed by a Provost.

Best distinction...
