Iv used epidural twice and had no side effect

I think women that have c-sections also used it compulsorily

I'm not encouraging you o! Just stating my own experience
Best thing since sliced bread

Okay. Thank you cos i am considering it for VD.

The risks are more than the benefits. Scary risk too.

tbaby123:
so in the spirit of giving back, here is what I have to share cheesy

WHAT ARE BENEFITS OF EPIDURAL ANESTHESIA?

1.Allows you to rest if your labor is prolonged. By reducing the discomfort of childbirth, some woman has a more positive birth experience.

2. Normally, an epidural will allow you to remain alert and be an active participant in your birth.

3. If you deliver by cesarean, an epidural anesthesia will allow you to stay awake and also provide effective pain relief during recovery.

4.When other types of coping mechanisms are no longer helping, an epidural can help you deal with exhaustion, irritability, and fatigue.

5. An epidural can allow you to rest, relax, get focused, and give you the strength to move forward as an active participant in your birth experience.

Please note, the use of epidural anesthesia during childbirth is continually being refined, and much of its success depends on the skill with which it is administered

WHAT ARE THE RISKS OF EPIDURAL ANESTHESIA?

1. Epidurals may cause your blood pressure to suddenly drop. For this reason, your blood pressure will be routinely checked to help ensure an adequate blood flow to your baby. If there is a sudden drop in blood pressure, you may need to be treated with IV fluids, medications, and oxygen.

2. You may experience a severe headache caused by leakage of spinal fluid.

3. After your epidural is placed, you will need to alternate sides while lying in bed and have continuous monitoring for changes in fetal heart rate. Lying in one position can sometimes cause labor to slow down or stop.

4. You might experience the following side effects: shivering, ringing of the ears, backache, soreness where the needle is inserted, nausea, or difficulty urinating.

5. You might find that your epidural makes pushing more difficult and additional medications or interventions may be needed such forceps or cesarean.

6. For a few hours after the birth the lower half of your body may feel numb. Numbness will require you to walk with assistance.

7. In rare instances, permanent nerve damage may result in the area where the catheter was inserted.

8. Though research is somewhat ambiguous, most studies suggest that some babies will have trouble “latching on” causing breastfeeding difficulties.

9. Other studies suggest that a baby might experience respiratory depression, fetal Mal-positioning, and an increase in fetal heart rate variability, thus increasing the need for forceps, vacuum, cesarean deliveries.

Hi Guys, I got a very sad call this morning. My cousin lost her 3 year old son yesterday. The little boy was playing in their compound with other kids, no-one knew when he left the compound and then stepped on a soak-away slab. The slab was not stable and he fell into the soak-away. Everyone gathered and tried to get him out but unfortunately he had swallowed and inhaled the waste. The poor boy died. I feel so sad and unhappy about this. Pls dear moms, try to be alert towards ur toddlers and kids, one split second can make a world of difference. This is the most heart breaking news I've ever heard Cos I have a 3 year old son myself. May God continue to protect us and our little ones from harm. Amen!

Awww cry cry. May God console your cousin. It is well with you.

Girlloom this situation is now a delicate one o,its more like you against them all and your hubby will be caught in btw, block the SSN don't report to the authorities because your marriage will be at stake with the situation of things now, pack your load and come back to naija when you come back to Nigeria you will now come and arrange everything that has gone wrong, I pray God restores peace and gives you resilience to continue to endure, God bless you and your LO

Yeah i am in support that she should just block the number and not report them because of her marriage. If she reports them, no matter how she paint the whole story her husband will be more vex than now. Men and their family are inseperatable no matter what we wives does. God will help you darling.

My dear, coming here was a massive mistake. I am 30 and this lady is 34, I knew I had entered one chance when she told me to attach Aunty to her name and uncle to her husband. Few weeks after I arrived here, I had a chat with my husband on bbm that I was being treated like a maid, this lady went through my phone while I was sleeping, read the chat and got upset. My husband made me apologize to her for invading my own privacy. Despite the fact my pregnancy was high risk, this lady turned me into a semi maid. Things I haven't done in my own house I have done here. She once instructed me to warm food for her 2 year old, my son started crying and I went to attend to him, she asked about the food and I told her my son was crying, her response was 'so you left my son's food because he was crying, let him cry now' Her son comes back with all sorts of sickness from daycare, she gets upset when I try to protect my child. Now my son is ill, caught a bad cold, thanks to her son sneezing on his face severally. I have had sleepless nights in the past 2 days and will have to take him in tomorrow and pay as we have no insurance. Back to what happened today, she said I was ungrateful because I asked why they opened my son's envelope...imagine? My husband delayed in sending money for his visa and that's the only reason I am still here. Her husband was able to pacify her to let me stay saying what would people say back home. Let me also add that she keeps saying she and her brother were very close before he met me and I want to change him. I plan to change my ticket to the earliest date possible and I am still going to call the IRS. Apologies for my uncoordinated rant, I am upset that I am in this kind of situation. Left my spacious house to come and chop insult in this cabin.

My dear, it is well. I can imagine what you are going through. Please try to come back no matter what. Your LO is a bit grown and i feel you have overstayed your welcome thats why she has been misbehaving. I pray for strenght and wisdom to handle this.

Pele.

1st 30 minutes -get free WiFi for however long it lasts and ping and browse and inform your people that the 1st leg of your journey has been done and dusted.

2. ask around, some airlines give free meals when you have long layovers.

3. find a secluded corner with enough seats for you to lie down, if possible get one Close to your check in area, restrooms and a screen were you can see flight details.

4. lie down and snooze.

5. this is very important when you have a long layover it is essential that you have as little carry on luggage as possible.

6. wake up, check the time and snooze some more. ignore anyone asking you to sit up, you're pregnant you need the rest grin

7. window shop.

8. exercise your toilet breaks( if you're like me you'll probably have 10 or more in the 10 hour wait )

9. begin to realise that long lay overs are frustrating and promise yourself never to do it again.

10. do it again and repeat 1 to 9 because, cheaper tickets!

I cant help but laugh....very informative though!
