My people....

Was actually waiting for my mum's interview today before sharing both her interview experience and my POE rundown .

Myself, hubby, son and long belle left Lagos at 35weeks+! Via Lagos-Frankfurt-Newark-Hosuton. Was asked for fit to fly .Had very good seat, nice leg space and empty seats behind me, so I had a row to myself, Hostesses were really nice n friendly and really made me comfortable.
I also requested for wheel chair (it made all the difference in the world). Thanks to @evemama for the heads up. Which kain 33mins waka be that.
For my burden of proof i had: $8,100 cash, receipt of payment made to the hospital ,Doctor's appointment letter, estimated budget sheet, return ticket, Letter of Introduction from my employer and Maternity leave document from my office portal.
I was wheeled to the CBP , stood up for proper interview and this is my transcript. (He actually saw my lady finger belle and pretended not to) undecided

CBP: You guys are here for vacation?
Hubby and I: No, To have our Baby
CBP: You said vacation?
Me: No, I said to have our baby
CBP: Oh I didn't notice
CBP: How long are you here for?
Me: 7weeks
CBP: You gat some paperwork?
Me: Yes, hand him my medical recs,
CBP: Is this all u've gat?
Hubby quickly whispered receipt n all
Me: Oh I'm sorry.
CBP: Stamps hubby and son in.

(He kept typing and typing and then he says I need to go for secondary inspection to verify my documents)
Me: No problem ( was actually prepared for dis) for my mind...I was like no shaking grin

At secondary inspection, we sat for about 15mins and I was called.
Here's the drama:
Strolled to the CBP lady that called me.
CBP: hi ma'am
Me: Hello
CBP: here are ur docs/passport, hand them over to the security outside the door. Thank you.
Me: lobatan o! I no read dis one for the thread o. Which kain one be dis? I refused to leave her sight. She was already typing on her system.
Me: Excuse me, I was sent here for secondary inspection
CBP: And I've done just that.
Me: (made like 2 steps from there while trying to give hubby d I'm confused/trouble sign). I was whispering to myself...No freaking way mehn....atawewe don make am dis far, fret not Biola. So I went back to her. cry undecided
Me: Sorry Ma'am, I mean ...I was sent here for secondary inspection and u just handed my docs back to me.
CBP: (smiling and in a very polite manner) Ma'am, I have done that...seen ur receipts and all, verified and u r good to go.
Me: (Smiling back) Oh thanks.

So off to agric, I brought in all sorts dried ponmo, frozen palm oil in Sprite plastic bottle, grinded and ungrinded crayfish, prawns, snacks for my son and his drinks, diff types of dried fish, stock fish, grounded melon seed, packs of knorr chicken, set of curry, thyme and pepper, grinded pepper, yams, dried locust beans, oloyin beans, olootu beans,garri,semo..can't rem all sef.

My yams were seized and e pain me die even as I bury dem reach among my clothes.
Immediately when asked if we had yams, my hubby no even allow dem land before he said Yes emphatically.
I was even trying to use my belle to blackmail dem, with cravings and all but dem no yield.

Wheel chairs are advisable if u r transiting thru Frankfurt o. Also think direct flights are better for preggies cos d stopping and entering got to me at the end. But don't blame me I was trying to avoid houston wahala!

Testimony No 2:
My Mum got her visa this morning in Lagos, she went with her burden of proofs but was not checked. As advised by Happytbaby, she requested for interpreter and the VO asked her if she cud try and she said yes.
Was asked Just 2 questions ( where are u going and why). She replied and White paper given to her and Vo is typing, my mama refused to go o, the security guy came and explained to her and she said she wants her passport that how cum dey collected passport from her and gave her just half a paper.
The guy had to explain the whole process to her again.

I'm grateful to all esp my rose model ladyguinivere, Happytbaby, chloe7, evemama, modath,Omodadi2,theleakytribe, Feddy27, bisoye82 and everybody.

May all our journeys be fruitful and smooth and May the good lord crown all our efforts positively.

Awesome... Simply awesome. Congregations and enjoy your stay.

U said u made hospital payment for oakbend? How did you go about it... I think u are the answer to my prayers.

A little clarification to all about Stanbic IBTC PTA. They have a BDC subsidiary so it's not like it's the Bank issuing like other Banks. In effect, they don't always get funds from CBN hence the reason why they have been issuing more than other Banks. This also accounts for reasons why rates differ, 197 today, 257 tomorrow.

I dont mind this BDC... How can i access them?

Pls i need ur help.

Good morning all, its good to be on this family supporting thread that has been so helpful. Though I am new and I have read through many posts and successes. I would appreciate your advice and contributions on this prospect. My wife and I wishes to have our baby in the US but I just secured admission to apply for F1 visa category, do you advice my wife apply for F2 visa to give birth or she should apply for B1/B2 visa category. Note she intend going with her Mum for the interview to assist her during the period of childbirth and after. My wife is working, her mum is working and I am also working too. Please who do you think should apply first, me or her? Please just advice. We have gotten a hospital in California and a doctor correspondence as well, waiting for the doctors invitation letter.

I thought u have gone through the thread, how come she will apply for F1

Thank you for taking out time to do this.

Thanks dearie for this explanation kiss

Greatie,

I chose induction for the following reasons:

1. I wanted him to take the delivery. I didn't want one random doctor I have never had a chat with before...lol
2. I didn't want anxiety to set in as i was already getting tired of being pregnant...lol. heaviness, no confortable sleepin position, heartburns etc
3. Coincidentally, it fell on my mummy's birthday and as an only child, I felt that would be a wonderful gift to her smiley
4. I had an uneventful pregnancy so there was no issues whatsoever all along the line
5. His VE was not painful like the nurse that started the process, I practically chased away the one on duty at night that was doing the cervix ripening! Her VE was damn painful, she had to call him that i was not co-operating...lol. He told dem to give me pain meds, I slept off and by morning wen i woke up, I saw him by my bedside grin. He was just gisting with me, broke my waters and i didn't feel any pain. Allowed me to progress on my own first and monitored my bp for some hours cos he said instant epidural can cause the bp to crash. I was given epidural from 3cm and that was wen the lounging started grin

@Feddy27, I don't totally agree with you. As a FTM, I tink its best one waits till at least 40wiks b4 induction can take place cos I want to believe the chances of its success is higher from 40wiks (I might be wrong dou). I used Dr. E and she told me categorically at 40wiks dat she won't induce me because my cervix wasn't ready and that as a FTM, it was expected. However, I am glad she didn't because I went into labour on my own at 40wiks and 4 days and we found out my baby was in a posterior position. If I had insisted on induction and taken epidural immediately the process started, that wouldn't have been noticed on time.

I totally get u. The side effect of the process is my concern. For the mama that when thru it but wasnt successful even though baby was big enough was very risky.
Travel / Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by greatie: 11:16am On May 13, 2016
Thank you for this. Cant tell u how this has helped me, being so scared for some days now.

feddy27:

Point of correction, he does not like to induce. I used him and I give him 5 stars!

Now the thing is this, as a FTM be open minded about decisions and trust your healthcare provider.

We had a discussion and he asked if he should help me peradventure I get to 39 wks and labor has not started. I gladly said yes because truth is you have not given birth before! I was also a first time mum and I chose to trust his expertise. also, i wanted him to take my delivery and the only way I could guarantee that was either by being induced or opting for CS. I silently prayed for labor not be start until 39 weeks and I strolled to the hospital and the process started. That birthing experience was one of the best in my life! he managed the entire process so well that my granma was very impressed!!! She still talks about it till date...lol. I'm sure the reason he suggests induction is because as a first time mum, tension starts brewing after 40wks and labor is no where. Like they always say too, labor takes time for FTM. so to prevent that anxiety and getting baby distressed, get it down at the right time.

I bet you, you will come back to testify.
Word of caution: If you accept the induction, take epidural so that your labor will progress smoothly without aches and pains. Also keep your mind at rest. Load your phone or wateva device with music and videos. Lounge all thru and wen its time, bring forth your baby.

You are a first time mum! trust your doctor *hugs*

<speaking from my own experience>

Pls mamas who have gone through this could you share your experience? He's my doctor and i wanna be sure of anything he might be bringing to the table.

It is my turn to share my testimony.

My LO was born yesterday 11th May 2016. Some of you would recall how my Dollars were stolen by my help before my trip. I was well prepared to follow it up and post everywhere about it but after my first doctors appointment here, the stolen money was irrelevant to me.

The doctor did a scan and said she found spots on my LO's heart that were indicative of either a hole in the heart or downs syndrome. I began to pray and believe God even though I was very shaken by the news.

Long story short, she arrived yesterday and is completely fine. She followed me straight from the OR to the postpartum recovery room. Join me praise the Lord. I'm one happy mumma.

Am so happy for you. It ended in praise! Your LO is blessed.

White paper given to her and Vo is typing, my mama refused to go feeling like d woman never check her plenty papers na security man come explain say no need, u've been given visa!

2) had my beautiful big baby girl same day by 7; 42am at Oakbend by dr F.
After 4yrs of marriage, 2 nasty 1st & 2nd trimester miscarriages. This miracle came. At abt 4 months was diagnosed with gestational diabetes, put on insulin 3 times daily and considered high risk pregnancy. This discouraged me greatly I almost left d American dream, plus had some doctors I originally wanted to use in america who turned me down cos I was on insulin.

I didn't get PTA, and my Form A payment didn't go through- thanks to GTBank and their blaaddy requirements. They requested for a letter of 'referral' from my hospital stating they cannot handle my case and have to 'refer' me to the Yankee hospital, but my hospital sent a letter of introduction so the Form A wasn't approved.

I have been following this thread from part 1 thru 4. Had my visa interview this morning with hubby in Abuja. Went with all necessary docs as seen on this thread, was denied for no reason.

Vo: good morning
Hubby & I: good morning.
Vo: (scans passports and then looks thru the screen), i can see you are going to have your baby in the US?
Hubby: yes.
Vo: how much do you think this trip will cost?
Hubby: 16K usd. Wanted to pass her budget sheet but she said "I don't need to see any doc."
Vo: where do you work (asking hubby)?
Hubby: xyz multinational company, and as abc manager.
Vo: how much do you earn?
Hubby: told her actual pay (well above 600K monthly), attempted giving her payslips but she again declined saying same.
Vo: flips thru hubby's passport and asked "what did u go for in Egypt?"
Hubby: I went for training - gave details (meanwhile Hubby has been to UK & France many times, as well as SOuth Africa, and Egypt)
Vo: can I see ur acct statement?
Hubby: passed on savings and salary statements (about 30K usd)
Vo: typed and typed and typed...sorry your application has been denied. Passed yellow form and said have a nice day.

She didn't even ask me any question + na so she just dey bone. She 'drilled' a preg woman before me like say d woman offended her before (kept asking her like 6 different times 'y not give birth in south Africa, UK, must it be US), come deny her join.

i dey pray say make she no call me o but...na she call me (window 9). She don reject everybody before us sef.

House, please advise. I am considering applying again next month o...I'm 21 weeks gone.

Am so sorry for the denial. You can apply alone nxt month. I applied alone and i got mine in march. It will be successful this time in Jesus Name. Amen.
