You guys shouldn't be quick to forget that Pastor Adeboye,was a member who took over from the then G.O,so he doesn't have so much choice on being there till death do him part. In fact I'm surprised they allowed him stay this long.
But people like Kumuyi,Oyedepo,Chris Oya etc built their ministries from the scratch, some of them started with their wife and kids as members.
Kumuyi started his church with 11 people,who do gather at his Unilag residence for bible studies, before he even had a wife and children.
Oyakhilome started with his siblings and few of his undergraduate colleagues, whom he led to the lord and mentored even as an undergraduate.
So if this guys haven't retired yet or relinquish their position as GO,GS,President etc you won't blame them. I can see Kumuyi doing any other thing on Mondays than that Bible study of his. What do you want him to be doing apart from what he has being doing over 40years.

Yes you are right about it been appropriate for dedicated Christ followers. the truth is that the instruction is strictly for the Christians who had been enabled by the Holy Spirit and the grace of Jesus Christ. Those that are willing to deny their selfish nature so as to be aligned to Christ. This instruction doesn't apply to people who don't know Christ hence anything that happens in their relationship goes. Honestly the capacity to follow the instruction must be followed by grace otherwise it is almost impossible to fulfill by men of uncircumcised hearts.

On expatiating on values and interest, the Bible says, ''do not be unequally yoked'' and then else where says, ''Can two walk except they agree''. Values are what we stand for, our core values like empathy, honesty, integrity, faithfulness, transparency, these are parts of our character that cannot be compromised. If my husband upholds honesty and I dont, then there is no basis for our relationship, if the wife considers unfaithfulness as a sacriledge but the husband thinks otherwise, there would be major issues as the core part of one is being taken for granted, this would definately cause disaffection. However interest can fade away at any time as a result of experience, accidents etc for instance the man loves his premiership match and the woman her telemundo, this are varying interest or the man prefers to play basketball but the woman loves learning musical instruments. these are interests and none of them should deny each other the pleasure of their interest. a threat to any core value shared is a threat to the couple and can cause them to unite irrespective of the situation. This what the stand for.

The truth is that marriage is not for the chicken hearted nor immature folks. To get into a marriage, you must be ready psychologically, emotionally, financially and spiritually. In addition you and your partner must share the same value not necessarily interest. Everyone must identify their God given role and face it. The husband must love unconditionally - love is not a feeling but action of deliberately sacrificing to love his wife as Christ loved the church and gave his life for the church. He must wash her everyday with graceful, exhortatory, and encouraging words. The husband is expected to Love his wife to the point of giving up his life. In return, the wife must respect and submit to her husband in the Lord. Above all both are expected to submit to each other and be loyal and faithful. A lot of people get into marriage for the wrong reasons. You see advancing chronologically doesn't make you ready for marriage, been financially stable and independent doesn't make you ready for marriage otherwise our rich celebrity and stars won't divorce every now and then. In other words marriage is for very strong hearted people who have matured to the point of self denial. Marriage must bring out the best in each other because everyone has something unique to contribute to the relationship. Ego, insecurity, fear, low self confidence are the killers of marriage in disguise.
