Eldoni: This question has been answered on the sister thread. Your B.L+ law school sent to WES would give you equivalent of masters level. IQAS takes a while and do the above if you can't endure the delay. Just seeing your response, you mean WES now evaluates law school to say degree is equivalent to masters degree? That is absolutely new and quite frankly interesting, if true. When I did this process in 2018/2019, law school was not relevant because it is a professional program. It was repeatedly disregarded by WES and IQAS. It is like trying to make the Alberta bar qualification program equivalent to the New York bar for the purpose of qualifying to practice in New York. Do you actually have experience of this happening now? |

phabulous88: Guys
Has any lawyer successfully sent Law school transcripts to WES? What’s the process like?
I’m trying claim 2 or more degrees since IQAS is wasting time.
Thanks Dont waste your time and money. Just wait for IQAS. Law school will not give you two or more degrees. |

Onebase79: Hello everyone!
Please is 350k considered a lump sum for someone who earns 80k monthly? I have about 4.6m in the POF account and the lump sum accounts for only about 7.6%
The money was deposited in September 2020 and SOA was printed last week of January 2021. The source of the money is from monthly esusu contribution between my co workers and i. I need advice on how to proceed. Thank you @ednut1 @Missma01 I used this when I applied in 2018. What I did was to supply evidence of the establishment of the esusu: an email sent to everybody taking part in the esusu showing the rotational order of payout. Then I used my salary account statement showing the debits for the monthly esusu evidencing payments I made to other esusu contributors throughout the period up until I received my own esusu payout. Then I explained it all in the LOE. I would recommend you do the same. |

chigrad: Please can someone help with this question. Just want to know if I can apply for my kids who would be accompanying me to Canada on a work permit visa using their US passport. Or I should use their Nigerian passport. Thank you Hi, just remember that even though they do not require visas as someone has already pointed out and you already know, they will need some sort of work or student visa if they are coming with you so that they can go to school if they are school age. Someone I know applied to a school here, got an email confirmation from the school and used that to get a student Visa for his 15 years old son. |

behati: @ your last paragraph, there is a reason Turbo Tax and the other service providers require that information. Like i said earlier, you would not see the amount on your tax returns but it influences how much personal federal tax credits you are entitled to which in turn influences your refund/amount owing. I've filed my taxes and that of some others myself and i am 100% certain it impacts your tax refund. Please see screenshot below from CRA website and let me know if you still hold your opinion.
It's always best to declare your full income and let them decide what to do with that information. Reading this, I agree. Yes, I did read this particular information but I did not interpret it like this. And my experience may be justifies my interpretation. Now, it is from this information that I figured that one cannot claim all of the non-refundable tax (the 12k) and that it would be pro rated. You are correct. It reminds me of something that happened when I was filing my returns. Before I supplied my income from when I was not resident, turbo tax was applying the full credit and I knew it could not be. So I went back to fill that out and then turbo applied the pro rated tax credit. To that extent I do accept your position, when I think about it, But again, I do retain some misgivings. While the above was true for me, my wife had no non-resident income and so reported 0 income in that non-resident part of the year but yet she could not claim the full non-refundable tax. We were given the same pro rated amount from the data we landed in Canada. This is something I cannot explain, are you able to shed some light on this in case you know why this was this case for her too? Thanks. |

behati: The amount would not reflect on your returns as taxable income but it does influence the tax credits that you get which would impact on your tax refund/amount owing. But I have scoured through my returns and I dont see any such impact anywhere in mine though. Further, as far as I know the tax credits are all tied to things done in Canada. I can only see under-reporting income earned before one becomes a permanent resident being profitable for only new immigrants (not while filing tax returns but when you come in and file world income when applying for child care subsidy or child tax benefits). Aside from that, I do not see how income relating to a period one is not a resident in canada would impact benefit entitlement when filing tax returns after one has become taxable in Canada. However, you do have to report income earned in Nigeria while you are taxable in Canada. I dont think the system is built to capture this income at the point of filing taxes. That is y as a new immigrant the federal and provincial non-refundable tax credits are pro rated too. For example, even if you land in Canada say September 2019 and start working from September 2019 till December 31, 2019. Your non-refundable tax credit would be pro rated to the amount of months you were taxable in Canada, about 4 months. The only problem is that I am not sure why Turbo Tax bothers to ask that question. May be it is a question that is supposed to simply be checked against the information you submitted for your world income report when applying for child tax benefit and child subsidy as a new immigrant. My 2 cents. |

mbhs139: I heard some Nigerians are under reporting the money they earned in Nigeria the year before they moved to Canada for tax benefit purpose.
If you use turbotax.com, there's a section that ask about your income before you moved into Canada. I was told our people are putting zero in this column and this subsequently increases their tax return. In other words, they're claiming not to have earned anything back home.
I laugh.
So, someone that moved to Canada in the later part of 2019 didn't earn a dime while he was in Nigeria? But you have forgotten that you claimed to be working and earning income during your IRCC registration. They also forgot that they signed an agreement that any information they provide should and can be shared among the various agencies of the Canadian government. They also forgot that an audit of all tax refund will be carried out subsequently. And if you're found to have misrepresented facts, you'll be made to pay back, with interest. And the funniest part is that they won't come after you in the next two or three years. You would've forgotten, and you know, lies aren't consistent, they know this, and that's why they would give you a long time. While I don't subcribe to under-reporting of income, unless the income earned in Nigeria was earned at a time you have already landed in Canada, I believe whether you say 0 or 1bn it really doesn't matter. For instance, I did provide my income in Nigeria before landing and after landing and the income before did not make it into the final tax returns. May be there is something I do not know? I cannot assume to know it all. |

elohim24: Please anybody who has used WES for law school help me out ooo. Wes accepted wifey's verification from law school initially and today they accepted verification for LLB only for them to change initially accepted verification for BL to "awaiting verification " . I called them immediately and I was told it's a secondary verification. Is this how it's done? Help a brother Hi, I hope you are aware that WES will evaluate your wife's LLB as a four year bachelor's degree and not a "professional degree" that would give you points equivalent to masters? If not, you may need to wait for IQAS to open their portal for new application and do another assessment with IQAS for your wife. Pleasee note that I have a friend whose application was refused because she used WES but claimed point for "professional degree". She has submitted new docs for vic's consideration but nothing for more than one month now. However, all of the above would not matter if the WES evaluation of your wife's LLB as four years Bachelors Degree will not impact your potential scores by making it lower than the average CRS score being released by cic nowadays. |

salford1: Not applicable in Regina or Saskatoon as well, and it won't be applicable in Vancouver, Montreal or Toronto where houses are even more expensive. Except maybe houses are now selling for dirt cheap across Canada.
A vehicle with a $200 or a few dollars lower monthly payment would cost around 18k to 21k excluding dealer fees, and for a 5 to 6 year term loan, that can be steep for a new immigrant, especially if we add insurance cost to the amount. Cost of insurance also vary widely across provinces. It even varies depending on location of residence within a city or town based on postcode/locality.
However, the Facebook advice is very good. Yes. I agree. But really at the end of the day, it will depend on individual situations. For instance, I know immigrants who moved here and started earning over 60k annually immediately and financed brand new cars paying up to 500 monthly. They mostly did it because they had a large family, income and no immediate cash to be dumped into good fairly used cars for about 12k or so. One needs a good car depending on your situation and how cold your territory can get. So a lot of that advice can be situational. |

Silversurfer1: We are in the same boat oh. I read on Canadavisa about Lawyers who used WES and still got PPR. They just explained with LOE about the disparity and what IRCC says about Law degrees. Some people here said it won't work because its misrepresentation but how can it be misrepresentation when their government states otherwise? Glad to see proof of this from a Nigerian here. Granted this didn't work for everyone but I did this too and I'm praying for a positive outcome. God dey Yes. I had that conversation too. But all in all it ended in praise, did IQAS in 2018 July after rejecting my first ITA and IQAS came out Sept 2018, submitted Oct 2018, got PpR in Jan 2019 and landed in April, 2019. Dont worry it will all end in praise no matter the decision you make on WES or IQAS. JUST PRAY ABOUT IT THOUGH. |

RomStar01: No they didn’t lol and yes I did. Best news for lawyers then! So WES may be the way out. I had a sneaky feeling it could work with WES. I did WES too initially then waited months to do IQAS but upon submission my spouse LLB WES evaluation was still given point as though it was a professional degree. At that point, I started doubting the wisdom in waiting that long (three months) for IQAS evaluation. So I have always thought may be WES evaluation can pass the scrutiny for lawyers. Congrats by the way! Go and prosper! |

Silversurfer1: If its LLB and Law school certificate, it will be evaluated as two or more certificates. I made a mistake. LLB on it's own will be evaluated as a 4 years Bachelors degree by WES even though it isn't I dont know anyone who has done that before but I know people who have had law school cert returned unevaluater because it does not compare to any canadian education. It is naija specific. |

Eraytee: ok clear, age is locked in after AOR. Unless something has changed in the way CIC handles applications. I am sure your age is frozen at ITA and not AOR. As such, a subsequent birthday before AOR will not impact your app even if score after birthday is lower than CRS points at ITA. It is always stated in the ITA letter as such. Unless things have changed ooo! |

ChiefDaddy1: Please something has been bothering me.
2years ago, prior to when I heard about EE, I tried DUBAI work visa with an agent helping me out. He told me in a month but after 3months visa is still not ready and I just wanted to leave naija then. Something came up in naija that would last for about 2years so then I told the man to withdraw the visa and took about more than 5months to get my PASSPAORT from him.
When filling out the Express entry form, about travel history or have I be denied any visa before question, since I do not know the main info about that visa up to date whether I was given or the man didnt do anything or probably denied sef. This bothers me on what to fill when the time comes on travel history.
Will an LOE do explaining or I should ignore travel history as I have not travelled to anywhere before. Please indicate the refusal and explain that you do not know the reason for the refusal. Explain the circumstances. It is not an issue. It fit become an issue if you risk it and they somehow find out. U get? |

Homextras: Good morning House, I am going the PNP route and just got an ITA. However, upon accepting the ITA I observed a difference in my date of birth on my profile. Say I was born in 1992, but saw my profile now showing as 1990, maybe I entered it in error without paying attention. My real age is 1992,my Ontario profile, my ielts, Wes, Intl passport, birth attestation all carry 1992. Now should I decline ITA and edit this mistake or continue and simply attach a letter of explanation? My score is 1033 My candid opinion is that you should sort it out with an LOE. It was simply an error. To that LOE attach again your WES, intl passport bio data page and birth certificate to confirm. Explain that all other documents you have used for EE and even your Ontario profile has your real age. Don't decline the ITA. There is this document called Schedule A. Check to see if there us a column for date of birth, if there is, I suggest you fill Schdule A and sign it. Add it to the LOE and explain why you have done it. You simply need to leave no doubt in the mind of the officer that it was an error. My 2cents. |
