ECA This journey started in November 2017. My wife and I (both lawyers) did our ECA with WES. My ECA came out a few days before we wrote IELTS. Once the IELTS result was released, without my spouse’s ECA, we had a CRS of 442. The cut off for April 25, 2018 was 441 and we received our first ITA. Fast-forward to June, 2018, I stumbled upon this thread on Nairaland at about past 1a.m. (cannot remember what kept me awake till that time) and on page 1, I saw the advise that lawyers should use IQAS and not WES. Engaged members on thread and there was a consensus that it is always better to err on the side of caution. Rejected the first ITA on this basis and for other reasons. Registered for IQAS and commenced the long wait for the ECA from IQAS which took three months.
Medicals We knew my spouse had a history of TB from about 21 years back and we declared that in our PR application. Hence, a few days after we had our upfront medicals, we received a mail from IRCC asking for further medical examination for myself (my BP was slightly high on the day of the medicals) and my spouse. Mine was quite straight forward. But we had to wait about three months for the results of my spouse’s sputum test to be ready and then a repeat x-ray.
POF POF was deposited in mutual funds which I opened sometime in April 2018. The entire POF sum consisted of Esusu money (disclosed as such to IRCC with evidence of establishment of Esusu in my office (E-mail thread)), sale of my wife’s car, sale of a land, gift deed from brother-in-law and my father. We put all this information in a tabular format and provided 8 months statement of account highlighting inflows and outflows to the mutual funds account. POF was also supported with 25% of the balance in my RSA.
PPR Repeat X-ray for my spouse was carried out on January 18, 2019 at the Consultant Practice. I remember that from January 18, 2019 and for about 7 days thereafter Ottawa was raining PPRs. I was prayerfully expecting ours too. However, on January 22, 2019, we received an ADR letter dated January 21, 2019 in our MyCIC inbox (addressed to me) stating there were some outstanding medicals and that I should contact the Panel Physician. We were given 30 days to provide evidence that we had completed all medical examinations. I rushed to the Consultant Practice and obtained another upfront medical sheet for myself indicating that all medical exams have been completed. However, I was informed that my wife’s repeat x-ray results had not been uploaded and I was told to call on January 24, 2019 for an update. On January 24, 2019, my spouse and I went to the Consultant Practice. The same story. Result not yet updated but this time the excuse was that the Panel Physician was not in the country and, as such, the results cannot be uploaded because she had a role to play in getting that done. In fact, I was informed that a message has been sent to her and that she was not responding to her messages. I remember I got back to the office and a colleague of mine who had already landed asked me to put the Panel Physician’s matter in prayer. I thought to myself that why waste my prayers when I know that God has perfected it all. In fact, the spirit kept nagging me that the ADR letter was supposed to be PPR letter and that the Consultant Practice was just the hindrance. I cannot remember what I was searching for in my Yahoo inbox. But I stumbled on a mail I had written to the Consultant Practice to book an appointment for the upfront medicals in October, 2018. Something nudged me immediately to do a mail to the Consultant Practice. I was just hoping someone high up there will see my mail. I poured my anger into that e-mail, I must confess. Lo and behold, the Panel Physician responded to my e-mail within an hour and promised that the results will be uploaded.
I travelled to Abuja for work the next day on January 25, 2019. So I was in Abuja when my spouse called to tell me that the results had been uploaded as promised. She decided to wait for my return before uploading the updated Upfront Medical Form she obtained from the hospital. My return to Lagos was a miracle. A colleague in the office who was supposed to book my return ticket to Lagos actually booked “Lagos-Abuja” as my return ticket. It was not funny. By the time I found out, it was not possible to get on another plane that was leaving for Lagos early enough. I got a flight for 7.30pm. By the time I got to the airport, I met some of my colleagues who had departed for the airport since before Noon still waiting for their delayed flight. I told myself, I will get to Lagos today. Once again, my God of Hands of Fire showed up. My flight (the last flight or so) was called on time and I left my colleagues (whose flight was supposed to have been earlier) there in the airport.
Got to Lagos and hurriedly got to scanning and uploading the documents. The moment we opened our MyCIC account, we saw MEDICAL PASSED. My wife collapsed in relief. MIRACLE ONE, IT WAS AS IF THE VO WAS WAITING FOR THE HOSPITAL TO UPLOAD THE RESULTS. We sha uploaded the ADR even at that point ADR has become moot. This was still January 25, 2019. I remember telling my spouse that I expect PPR by February 5, 2019. She disagreed with me saying it will land on February 2, 2019. Of course, I totally disagreed because she had this penchant of wanting every important event to happen on her birthday-February 2. Finally, she prophesied (without knowing), she jokingly said “God will shame both of us and bring 2 and 5 together and give us PPR today January 25, 2019”.
Hence, I woke up at past 3am. Checked my e-mail. Nothing. I was sad but kept faith with February 5, 2019 on the horizon. I was sad because my spirit kept telling that the VO working on our file was just waiting for us to act so that he can finish his work. In fact, a witness in one of my cases (who I happen to have met at the Consultant Practice when we went for the upfront medical) had told me that much also just a day before. In any event, I went back to bed. Few minutes after, my wife wakes me up shouting “VFS!!! Check our CIC account!”. My people, it was Pret Pour Visa!!!
My people, we went from no MEP at over three months post-AOR to MEP and PPR on the same day!!! I know that the grace and mercy that found us, will find everyone too. All of our journeys will be different. But we will all get there!!! Keep the hope and faith alive always. |

AdetonaDami: Please your Advice is needed!!!
A friend called and told me this..
A friend of hers that they've talked for about two years ago called her and gave her a proposal. Its about Canada immigration tho, he said he has a friend that has a relative in Canada but due to the fact that his CRS score is very low and no chance of getting an ITA so he needs someone to stand as a PA, she's not sure if they would get married or not but it is to just increase the chances of getting an ITA. The relative in Canada would be the sponsor tho.
So the question is ...is it advisable for her to take the deal due to the fact that she won't be paying because this has been her vision OR she should decline and enter the pool herself ?
Please your advice is needed!!!!! Please let her decline and enter the pool herself. What I see happening is that the "sponsor" will have to marry her (arrangee marriage things***). Hence, there is serious misrepresentation involved. Promptly discourage her pls. |

Boom12: My people, this PPR is a sweet feeling ooo, I've been smiling all day
Timeline
Decision to travel was in April 2018. Family of 4 IELTS July 2018 LSRW 8877 WES September 2018 CRS 454 ITA 3 October AOR 6 November MEP/BIL 11 December Visa Office No idea PPR 22 January 2019 (dated 21 January 2019), letter didnt specify VFS location for submission
My husband and I registered for IELTS in April 2018; when the results were released, I had LSWR 7.5,8,7,9. I hurriedly calculated our scores and after several permutations, realised that its only having an 8 in listening that will give us a chance - I had not come across this thread then. I was pregnant and wasn't motivated to rewrite the exam. Then I came across this thread shortly afterwards and discovered i could even claim two or more certificates with my BSc and AAT from ICAN...imagine my joy.
I was instantly motivated and registered for another IELTS in July, I was heavily pregnant then. That day of the exam ehn...I sobbed quietly on my seat because the map section was just crazy. When the results were released, I had an 8 in listening...mhen i was overjoyed.
WES completed my evaluation in September; however, Lautech till now has not sent my husband's transcript so no evaluation for him. Thankfully he has a brother in Canada so we were able to get 15 points from him.
I had my baby shortly before ITA so we were able to include her in the application. We applied for her passport after ITA. See drama that day...she refused to open her eyes for a long time that day...eventually she did and we got the passport a couple of days later.
I booked an appointment with Qlife the day we got our ITA and was able to get an appointment for November 5. This was what delayed our AOR, really....all other documents were ready, thanks to this thread. Inspector Fatai came to the hospital to get our details for the PCC and delivered them to our house that same evening.
POF was Axa Mansard mutual funds and an education savings plan with Mutual Benefits
Reference letter was from my former place of work, where I spent over 5 years.
Travel history, I'm not sure if it's extensive...been to South Africa, London, Ghana, US and Dubai. I didn't need PCC for any.
As led by the Holy Spirit, my husband had a conviction that our PPR will come this week and it came. No ADR, no ghost update, just an email from CIC...so my people, if prayer works for you, please pray. My lips were filled with songs of thanksgiving this morning, I danced and danced because God's Word is true.
Thanks everyone for your contributions on this thread. I wish everyone still awaiting good news in this process all the best, God will meet you at the point of need in Jesus name. Amen Congratulation!!! |

Hello my dear Nairalanders, you will kindly forgive the lack of specific dates in my story as I started this journey October 2017.
IELTS: 28th October 2017: LRWS: 8.5,9,7.5,7.5 ECA (WES): middle of December 2017- Masters. CRS: 481 NOC: 4151 Experience: over 3 years Single applicant. ITA: 9th January 2018 AOR: 26th January 2018
ADR for schedule A and travel history: early February Meds passed: day after ADR IP1: same day
*so much silence*
Notification that I will be doing an interview: middle of July Notification of interview date: beginning of August Interview: September 18. Check page 1 for details IP2 and ‘interview completed’: September 18
*more silence*
Emailed Ralph, LVO and AVO almost everyday for 2 weeks but I doubt it helped speed up my processing. Got second GCMS notes that showed everything was awesome end of November.
PPR: December 11! My year is complete and beautiful. I praise God for making everything perfect in His time. Passport submitted: 12/12/18. (I pray. VFS has network issues. A child of God has been waiting for over 4 hours).
I’m not going to go into application details cos everything you need is on page 1 or on this thread.
I would say though that I almost didn’t submit any supporting document, only the mandatory ones (first item on the list) and this may be what led to my interview. At the end of the day, I had to take all those supporting documents to Accra. I thought bombarding a visa officer with documents would not be great but I’d advise anyone that’s applying now, submit EVERYTHING. Let them be confused with your overflowing evidence haha.
Almost 11 months post AOR, there was nothing easy at all about this process but if I had to, I’d do it over again and I recommend it to every Nigerian I meet. I pray Canada favours us all. Amen.
Thank you for all your help Nairaland! The wealth of information here is ridiculous and I can’t stand when people ask some basic questions sometimes. Read. Read. Read!
@raphrulz don’t undermark me oh. I’m trying to encourage people to go to page 1 hehe. Congrats. Go forward and prosper in your new home in Jesus name!!! |

Evaluating only the LLB is sufficient in so far as she evaluates it with IQAS. Evaluating her LLB with IQAS will ensure her ECA comes out as professional degree and earn points equivalent to masters. |

I intend to use the "Masters degree or professional degree" option for my wife's education qualification (she's the PA) in-order to score more points in CRS. I want to know if LAW graduates needs to evaluate their law school (call to bar) as a professional certificate as well as their 1st degree from the University. I intend to use ICES (and not WES due to WAEC inclusion), even-though, i will pay twice for both qualifications. Please any person in my shoe or any lawyer with similar experience should advice me. Much appreciated and thanks. Don't know if someone has responded to you. Evaluate only your LLB. But do it with IQAS. |

PresVA: It's really unfair that people who are yet to get ITA book their medicals leaving those who really need it stranded.. Soon, people may not be able to get a spot for medicals within the 60 -day time period given to submit PR application. really unfair...
It's hightime hospitals started asking for ITA or advance payment before booking one for medicals. . So that only eligible people are booked.. You can't be at 438 and book medicals because you're anticipating scores to fall, haba.. No need to worry. Call in advance and book a day for yourself as soon as you have got ITA. However, if the available date is too far, please clear up a day on your calendar (before the date you have booked) and go for your medicals. I say this because you will find that most hospitals always have individuals (or entire family) not showing for a medical they have booked beforehand. So please do not despair. |

Please assist a brother if you can. Thank you I doubt if that can be done. My advice, book an appointment first. But try your luck before your appointment date (say at Children's Practice). If you get there very early (say about 7.30am) you may be lucky to take the space of someone (anyone) who will not be showing up for the upfront medicals. The chances are like 70% but you have to get there early. They usually start attending to people by 8am. |

BarbaraCharles: Congratulations Estac. I celebrate with you. Please a few questions(we are learned friends )...hubs and I are lawyers, but we are currently evaluating our LLB with WES not IQAS. What is the implication on our CRS? I'm below 30 years and the PA. Does this mean the points will reduce? what's the value of our llb certficate at WES? Can anybody guide me through? Thanks. Well, this issue ehn, it is a complicated one. I will say use the tried and tested IQAS. Let me share my experience. I began this process by using WES, got an ITA but had to reject it because I was not sure that the WES ECA report will be interpreted by VO as professional degree since WES wrote "Bachelors four year" for my wife and I. For us, if the VO intepretes it Bachelors Degree, we will be below the round of invitation score. So I decided to do another ECA through IQAS (for myself alone) and had to wait for three months to receive my ECA indicating my degree as a professional degree. But on receipt of my second ITA, I noticed that my wife's education was calculated post-ITA by the system as though it was a professional degree although the WES report says "Bachelors four year" and I clearly chose bachelors degree in my EE profile for her. In essence, my pre-ITA EE profile and ITA letter says I have a CRS score of 450. By my post-ITA application page says I have a CRS score of 452. In all, I will say it is still unclear, but it is sha better to err on the side of cautious. This journey is a marathon, not a 100 meters dash. Go for IQAS to avoid any story that touch. |

It was just the theory that applying with spouse unaccompanying will always have a higher score than applying as married. In this case, the theory no werk. I believe the older you are the more likely that applying with spouse unaccompanying will reduce your crs points. |

Apologies @ddymples my earlier calculation was awry. Indeed, all your spouse needs to take you to 441 is 8777 LRWS. I advise he retakes the test. It is more likely he will get that than you maxing your IELTS. |

ddymples: Hello people,
I thought that if you apply as married, you have lower points than if you apply as single/hubby non-accompanying.
Oya epp me torchlit this scenario o
Married (PA), 37, Masters, IELTS - 8.5,9,7,8(LRWS) Hubby - Masters, 7.5,8.5,7,7 CRS - 439
But if it is spouse unaccompanying, the score drops to 434. Is there something we are not getting right? pls assist.
Thank you. Either you or your husband need to max IELTS. The minimum score you need before your next birthday in IELTS (for either of you) is LRWS 8.5, 8, 7.5, 7.5. If you get that, you CRS score will be 442. If your husbands gets these scores, your CRS score will be 441. Hope that helps. |

I am new to this whole Canada immigration thing. I am about to apply for my ECA. I am a lawyer doing an MBA. I should be rounding up early next year. Do you think that I should wait for the result of my MBA or just go ahead and apply with my degree and law school Certificates? Go ahead and apply with your degree. Your LLB will give you the same point as your MBA. Just make sure you evaluate your LLB through IQAS so that you will be able to claim maximum points. |

weckl: Am not trying to create an argument here. A lot of assumptions have been made on this controversial issue and i have taken my time to do some verification from different guys that followed this path way. I observed that a lot of people prefer to play safe on this issue by evaluating with IQAS and that is fine anyway. But at the same time that does not nullify the fact about LLB being treated as professional degree by IRCC. I believe any screenshot evidence will nail this for you guys. Yes @ weckl. Can you get us one (screenshot evidence) from the people who have been successful on a WES evaluation? Actual experiential evidence with an LLB will be fantastic not just for me but for a lot of people who may needlessly spend time waiting on IQAS. But you know now, we humans consider self-preservation first and foremost hence we tend to go for the tried and tested (IQAS). Playing safe is in our DNA jare. I think if ECA for LLB says "Bachelor of Laws", they one can claim points for masters. But if it says the other two, then potentially there is no way and one may get rejected. Just my two cents. |

weckl: I confirmed from Guys that got PPR that their WES evaluated as Bachelor degree(LLB) was treated as a professional degree by IRCC when selected in their profile. It may sound absurd as i said but that is the reality. This is truly interesting. But I think my next question is what exactly was the WES equivalency statement. Was it "Bachelors degree", "Bachelors degree (four years)" or "Bachelors of Law"? The truth may lie in those fine distinctions. |
Travel › Re: Canadian Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program- Connect Here Part 4 by gsade: 4:12pm On Jun 21, 2018 |
GlitteringStar: Nice! I'm actually interested in this too. According to IRCC, if the ECA summary says "Bachelor of Laws", then one should get the points for professional degree. But then, who is ready to take the risk? Your friend's GCMS notes will really help to unravel this. @GlitteringStar. Well, WES usually will simply say Bachelor (Four Years) as canadian equivalency. Nothing more. I guess if it was just "Bachelors" it may still fly. But let us wait for the GCMS notes from @CanadianWasp. |

I just paid for IQAS immediately and I have been scouring the internet for information on the WES evaluation and any useful actual experience on it. You I found out that Iphie 25's GCMS notes shows that it was her WES and not her IQAS that was recognised by the VO as professional degree. But the difference for Iphie 25 is that her WES report had a comment saying that her the bachelors (four years) is a "first professional degree requires to practise law in Nigeria". So her experience did not seem conclusive because she had that little bit of comment on her report which was not in the canadian equivalency portion. The GCMS notes from CanadianWasp's friend(s) may truly resolve it. |

How much time do you have left to submit your application?
Questions people should ask really, before Iphy's posts, did any lawyer complain about using wes and not receiving the professional points? Plus CIC website states what a law ECA should contain and one of it is a "bachelor of laws". Anyway, I honestly don't want to get into this debate. I'm hoping to get gcms notes of my friend. So if you have some time, you could wait before declining. CanadianWasp. I have sometime. At least, about 33days, to reject or not while I also await IQAS. I am in that position that Iphie 23 was in. I will really like to know what that GCMS note will say. May be just to put to rest the issue finally. Thanks, CanadianWasp. |

mcstan18: Kindly decline the ITA and wait for another if your CRS score would fall below the round of draws that got you the ITA when you recalculate using WES ECA report. If your score would be too low to get you another ITA, go for IQAS' professional degree evaluation. Trust me, your score would be recalculated at the CIO in this manner. Those who got PPR after doing what you're attempting were lucky enough not to have fallen below their ITA round cut-off.
Sometimes, you need to slow down to get to your destination faster - Igbo proverb Thanks. McStan 18. Great advise. |
