All Ethnic Warriors and the Name checkers Association, Read and be educated!!! Four of the major coastal tribes of Western Africa: the Yoruba, Igbo, Akan and the Gaa- Adangbe are dissimilar at a glance and evidently geographic neighbours, but very closely related, if examined in detail at the genetic level. Several studies have been employed over the years, with findings bringing up linkages of genetic similarity between differing regional ethnic groups. One in particular, conducted by Adebowale Adeyemo, Guanjie Chen, Yuanxiu Chen, the National Human Genome Centre and Howard University, and Charles Rotimi of the University of Ibadan provided results indicating the genetic similarities between the four major West African ethnic groups. Their findings further indicated surprising genetic variance within groups, but almost none across groups, similar to the closeness of human genetics across races, showing more range within than without. According to this landmark study there was 99.9 percent within-population variance, the between-population variance was less than 0.1 percent. This means that Yorubas, Igbos, Gaa and Akan are 99.9 percent similar, while within each of the groups there are variations/ differences between individuals as high as 99 percent i.e. One Igbo may be 99 percent genetically different from another Igbo, or one Yoruba person to another. It is important to remember that these groups were not initially split by national borders; prior to the European division of the continent, these ethnic peoples traded, migrated and wedded as the times permitted, allowing apparent regional and national mixtures that remain evident in modern day genetic analyses of some Yoruba and Igbo individuals. Race and ethnicity are considered to be related concepts. Ethnicity is often assumed to be somewhat more of a cultural identity of a group, often based on shared ancestry, language and cultural tradition, while race is assumed to be strictly a biological classification, based on genetic materials and bone structure. Ethnicity is often used synonymously with ambiguous terms such as nation or people, depending on which source of group identity is emphasized to define membership, the following types of (often mutually overlapping) groups are: Ethno-linguistic, emphasizing shared language, dialect or script — example: Hausa. Ethno-national, emphasizing a shared polity or sense of national identity — example: Nigerian. Ethno-racial, emphasizing shared physical appearance based on genetic origins — example: African-American. Ethno-regional, emphasizing a distinct local sense of belonging stemming from relative geographic isolation — example: South Islanders. Ethno-religious, emphasizing shared affiliation with a particular religion, denomination or sect — example: Christians. Also worthy of note is the shared Volta-Niger root languages, Yoruba and Igbo languages belong to the same family (YEAI branch), showing the common start of the diverse languages spoken by these ethnicities. Consequently, barring the inclusion of culture, tribal affiliation and nationality, it could be said that the the Yorubas, the Igbos, the Akans and the Gaa-Adangbes are but a people spread over a wide area with different ways of life. Thus discrediting any claim of a unique Yoruba “race” or a genetically insured Igbo ethnicity often employed by politicians and traditional rulers in rhetorics and propaganda messages. The reality, however, is the hampered economic strength of a not truly united front, with success delayed continually by the lack of pan-African sentiments on the part of the leadership, and poor economic decisions taken in an imperialist system. This is not to revile the revered skin deep differences in each group’s cultural development, but serves to indicate and rejoice in the underlying sameness of what appears ‘not’ to be. A body does not fight itself. These kinds of research serve as a balm to the much divided heart of the ethnically- concerned West African, and to the African at large: one root, many branches; united by blood if not spirit. www.herald.ng/yoruba-genetically-99-9-percent-igbo-study-reveals/ |
For your information, south africa is currently accounting for more than 10 times what Nigeria is contributing to climate change by emission of carbon gases from coal burning used to power their electricity generation and south africa is 3 times smaller than Nigeria in population. I think Nigeria senate should focus on more important things for now..(Not that climate change is not important) but Nigeria is a very insignificant player. Countries like United States of America, China, Germany and United Kingdom should lead the way. PIB, state police, state fiscal and political Autonomy, Protection of the Vulnerable, corruption prohibition, poverty alleviation schemes - social welfare etc... These are bills they are supposed to be discussing... # Deadsenate #liberateNigeria |

The renowned American Hip-hop Singer Chris Brown implicitly stated that he is tired of serving the devil, and having the devil ruin his life. Recently,in a post on instagram, the artist blamed the devil for trying to ruin his life. He talks about suicide and also claims to have heard God speak to him for the very first time. “When u tired of the fucking devil ruining your life and you hear God speak for the first time. No one knows what I deal with on a day to day. The average man wouldn’t to blow his fucking brains out but that’s the cowards way out. - Chris Brown Source:http:www.tipsupdate.org/ |
The Nigeria National Assembly as stipulated by law is one of the three Arms of government that enables check and balance in her democratic setting. It's function is to make laws that would guide the national interest for peaceful coexistence and general development. It's other function is an over-sight of the other Arms or what many would call 'the watch-dog' especially to the executive Arm. The National Assembly is made of the upper house which is the senate and the lower house - the representatives.. In the states there is only one house - state house of assembly The Senate has the unique power of impeachment of judges and other high officials of the executive including the Federal Auditor-General and the members of the electoral and revenue commissions. This power is, however, subject to prior request by the President. The Senate also confirms the President's nomination of senior diplomats, members of the federal cabinet, federal judicial appointments and independent federal commissions.. Why it is necessary to understand this important arm of government as I take you through my argument. Would become evident as we progress. Nigeria as a country has been bedeviled by an abysmal level of under development which is in a way related to under functionality of the national assembly. 1: the total disregard for the need and responsibility of making progressive laws that would encourage development. Structurally and in human capacity. 2:failure in the part of the executive arms to involve the house in its programs. 3: disregarding its role of over-sight therefore encouraging excesses in the executive and under-performance in the judiciary. Practical Solution: Recently the Enugu state house of assembly threw away a bill that would encourage or rather entrench the rights of each gender in the state eliminating the opportunities that have been exploited in the slavery and abuse of the weaker gender. It is however, Ironic that the tenets of democracy which is a form of governance established to guarantee the rights of every individual as it has done to the said senators empowering them in a fair setting to say their minds without fear even when they are not the most influential in terms of the capacity to command respect but from the privilege bestowed on them by the benevolence of democracy would find it trivial that the rights of others are impeded on. Using their position of merit to hinder others from benefiting the same opportunity of equality for the primitive sentimentality that we are Africans - The last time I checked, democracy is not a product African culture. It makes one wonder if as humans we are cursed to eternal selfishness and personal aggrandizement unless forcefully instituted otherwise. Well this and many more selfish agenda had been the bane of the Nigeria National assembles. This brings to mind the lingering petroleum industry bill. Haven spent more than a decade in hallowed chambers going forth and back because from all indications, it would offend the entrenched system of selfishness and greed among the elites. The few privileged who as beneficiaries of a fair system are bent in denying others the access of the same entitlement. We have watched in despondency how the National Assembly has indeed rubbished it's reputation by involving itself with banal and the most inconsequential matters as concern National development. We have witnessed with dismay The supposed 'HONOURABLE' members debate at what age can 'CHILD' be harvested sexually and for marital purposes and if that is not enough, the sexually concerned assembly members becomes conscious of other peoples sexuality making a ridiculous form of punishment for those who decided to take their sexuality away from the mainstream of sexual preferences, even though one might agree that some these issues are sensitive social issues but. There is little or no connection with these issues that the house has made a priority to the much need laws that would have made a positive addition to the quality of life of Nigerians especially where there is a screaming problem - almost deafening one of corruption and poverty that has threatened the very existence of this great country.. It is surprising to note the level of smoke screen covering the sensitivity of our protectors of dignity, and the givers of hope in the form of laws feigning ignorance as to what is necessary. In a country where stealing is not corruption because the house members found it very boring to define the terms for the those who understand the language of the law and might want to abide by its dictate. The yawning loopholes in our definition of terms has been the strength of our saboteurs who had taken advantage of this deficiency to exploit our common wealth and get away with it. There is no form of reasonable punishment for those who find pleasure in pilfering public purses, who take the virtue of their position for depravity and morally wanting dealings. Our national Assembly has by virtue of silence consented and instituted immorality in our culture. . They allowed what they are supposed to fight to fight and conquer us as a Nation. The Executives have on the other hand becomes outlaws and in some occasion are even the law. And who is the accomplice? The almighty National assembly. This is a case of the Eagle feasting among chickens. The executive (the president And Governors ) have taken the liberty of running the affairs of the state in their whims and discretion thereby putting the lives of dependent subjects in constant guess and bamboozled. The Nigeria Government has been infamously recognized for its turpsy-turvey policies and somersaulting policies, leaving an air of unpredictability and general sense of instability. From a double standard foreign diplomacy to incoherent economic policies is a testimony to the fact that the foundation of democratic structure of this country is faulty and it is high time the National Assembly rectified this structural deficiency. Firstly a constitutional amendment or a total over haul must no longer be an issue for consideration but an urgent and necessary step to save us from imminent social collapse. We have debated as a country up to the last conference organized by the former president Goodluck Jonathan, and it is my believe that we have articulated our concerns and expectations enough for the National Assembly to put all these yearning of the people to fruition in a truly democratic constitutional reform. The executives should be encouraged or forced if necessary to make what so ever agenda they have for the development of the masses go through the scrutiny and protection of the law. Take United States for example, it is very unlikely that a president would enforce a policy without the backing of the congress. Like the Obama care Health policy.. It has to be subjected to the scrutiny of the legislators and when found worthy, would get the backing of the law, thereby saving the policy from being scraped by an over zealous politician. The Social infrastructure the Buhari Government is trying to initiate must be protected by law to avoid a situation when another president comes in by 2019 to tell us the project is too expensive to Run therefore immediately suspending or out rightly canceling the scheme. The legislators are the midwives to democracy and the National Assembly is its birth place, therefore this institution must live up to its role to save our democratic Entity from dying from lack of care. Thank you All and expecting that this Article touches the relevant nerves for a greater Nigeria. @gstrinity. |
natas22:I thought about it and I actually removed it from the original article for the sake of avoiding long read. Good observation and point. |
Cheating as a way of life in Nigeria is getting ridiculously normal and it would be wise as a man to watch out for signs in your wife-to-be to help you avoid stories that touch the heart. There are several types of character a lady would possess that would tell if she is a potential cheat. These classifications are basically from my personal observation. Let's take the ride. 1: The lady with an above average-female sexual urge... These kind of women may not necessarily be nymphomaniacs but they have libidos higher than the average female. They are the type that often disturb their boyfriends for se.x and more se.x Generally women tend to be reluctant in engaging in marathon sexual acts say for four hours or more at a session. So when you have a wife-to-be who would gladly oblige you a series of marathon love making almost everyday. My advise to guys is to go back and reconsider your decisions because I bet it would be hard keeping up to such expectations as you grow older. Women who do not hold back a bit anytime sex is initiated is also a likely suspect. The only exception to this scenario is when they man is way younger than the woman. The number two on the list... 2: The women who always needs affirmation from men concerning their appearance: These type of women are those type that dresses provocatively with sole purpose of turning the stare of the male folks to their body. ---- Let me quickly point out here that there are (some) girls who loves dressing scantily not basically to attract eyes. They just love putting on what is comfortable.----- The type I mean in this situation are the women or ladies who would dress co-operately and still manage to leave one or two buttons undone exposing their cleavages or the type that would still manage to put that provocative slits on their skirts to expose their fresh laps. These group also comprises of those women that after dressing gorgeously would still not feel confident until a guy have told them that they are beautiful. I used to live with a certain woman that would always demand the opinion of any male around as to how she looks anytime she finishes with her make-up. Its not a bad thing to seek the opinion of your spouse as to how one looks but when the lady can not move and feel confident about her looks without confirmations from males telling her how beautiful or sexy she looks, my fellow guys its a bad sign... My advise... RUN! Or you would live with a women who would cheat on you sooner or later to prove to herself she still got the vibes in her. The third on the list....but not the least 3: The woman or lady with numerous male (just) friends: I will start this by telling a short story of a friend of mine who was engaged to a young lady but was worried about the number of male friends who usually check on her with tales that they are members of same church or choir, or course mates. My friend took his curiosity further and played detective but his findings proved her friends were normal and abnormal in the sense that she has relatively fewer female friends from the same church, choir and school. He ended the relationship later on and it turned out it was a good moves because one of the supposed casual friend graduated to be her next boyfriend and as I write this, the same lady has dated like three other males since I started taking note. These set of women are not really particularly popular but manage to have a mind blowing number of male friends and the number keep on increasing in a ratio that is non correlative like having 45 male friends to 5 females. Secondly their best friends are mostly females among their very few female friends Exceptions: A popular lady on the other hand are less likely to cheat. A popular lady would have a relative number of friends from both sexes say 150 males 80 females or 150 females and 80 males. A Tom-boy, that is a lady that behaves like a boy in her young life therefore has mostly males as friends are also less likely to cheat because they are usually very loyal and passionate. So guys when your fiancé has all the names of guys in her contact list but very scanty female friends yet she claims they are just friends? Its time to reconsider your stance because you might be living with a serial cheat all your life. Conclusion: To be fair men are many more times likely to cheat than a woman In my opinion and I think a reasonable topic addressing the issue would read "ways to make a man to stop cheating" Twitter: @Gsaint_trinity |
anonimi:Honestly I share in your views that we are country of millions of mumu. And I personally find that the most and biggest drew back to development and change in this country is the people themselves who wants the change, quite ironic. The youth especially are a bunch of follow-follow, with selfish motivations. The most we can do is hope for the best. |
omoadeleye:The laws in Nigeria against such acts is not encouraging that's why we need a fundamental overhaul. |
anonimi:I quite agree with you that the most systematic and scientific leader Nigeria has ever had remains Jonathan but his short coming was his lack of focus and seriousness and outright under rating of the seriousness of the corruption menace which is what Buhari is hopefully bringing to the table. |
Horus:The fight against corruption must be institutionalized. Besides high level corruption, there are thousands of medium and much more low level corruption and only a formidable system can prove effective. Thank you for the contribution. |

One of the most important expectations from the Buhari administration is to fight and conquer corruption. But the fight against corruption can not be won if the tactics are not strategic therefore the following steps must be followed to win this battle against corruption. 1: identify and define corruption: Corruption is a dishonest act that aims to favor one party against the other or to get or derive a personal advantage from the system using a position of authority. Therefore, a set of bills must be made laws stating in clear and definite languages behaviors, characters, acts and actions or in-actions that constitute corrupt practices. one may forgive Jonathan for saying "stealing is not corruption" because in Nigeria the term corruption is ambiguous. Stealing of government, group, organization, community or society funds, siphoning or diverting of government, corporate entities, communities, social groups etc funds. Taking and receiving bribes as individuals or group on behalf of the entities or for selfish reasons, receiving gifts, planning to do these and many more Cronyism or favoring family and friends or associates should also be classified as corruption. Unfair practices; where for example contracts, quotas, admissions etc are awarded with unfair or manipulative means where some individuals are accorded special privilege or advantages. Inflation or false reports on public projects whether for seeking contracts or giving contracts etc or things in that nature. Carrying out public services with disregard for the lawful procedure with intentions to benefit a certain group or individuals. Partiality in carrying out public duties etc. Finally among other practices I could not remember to mention or have omitted, the intentions or thoughts to carry out such plans or acts within the borders of Nigeria or outside it in-as-much it concerns the Nigerian society directly or indirectly, it must be classified as corruption and must be dealt decisively against it. 2: Penalty and punishment: All corrupt cases even the ones with little significance within Nigeria and outside it must be adjudged a state proceeding meaning it is a crime against the Nigerian society and must be handled in that capacity. Secondly, the minimum jail term should be fourteen (14) years. If gays or homosexuals can get 14 years, I see no reason why corrupt people should not get more jail terms. And the minimum crime as involving corruption should be the intention to do the act. This means intending to pay or receive for example a bribe should be punished with a fourteen year jail term. Maximum jail term should be a capital punishment preferably a life term. All assets or advantage gotten from corrupt means even to the last kobo must be recovered or retrieved. Buhari's government must make Bills and laws stating in clear terms what corruption means and punishment for it. 3: Execution: the fight against corruption can not be effective against the backdrop of a weak judiciary And that's the bane of the Nigerian society. With litigation going on forever in the Nigerian courts without coming to a logical conclusion in a reasonably short time, we can see that the fight against corruption has been defeated before it has even started. To by-pass this seemingly humongous problem, the government needs to set up a special trial court for the sake of prosecuting corrupt practices only and these court must be available to the local or ward level and its jurisdiction must not be handicapped at any level with and average trial time not exceeding three months. This means any corruption court must have the jurisdiction to try any corrupt case no matter how large or small. Any can also serve as appeal courts with a maximum appeal of three times. Which means once three independent court finds you guilty of corrupt practice, the only option is to face to consequences. Generally speaking, the judiciary needs to be strengthened as it is the last hope of the common man especially in a democratic setting. Disambiguation: corruption is a very complex phenomenon and we must de mystify it to achieve measurable success. Corruption usually involves someone with authority using its position unjustly to oppress or favor a certain individual or group. Usually it is for self gratification. Therefore in any situation of corrupt cases, the first culprit is the one with position of authority directly or indirectly. Unless the one with authority goes to the law to clarify its position, he or she carries the burden of being the main culprit. The accomplice is whoever that initiates or succumbs to the lure to carry out corrupt practices without reporting to clarify its position in the transaction. For example; a student who gives a bribe to a lecturer In order to pass is culpable for corruption while the lecturer who receives such gratification or gift bears the burden of being the first culprit who takes the major responsibility. But whoever reports self first and voluntarily to clarify its position may be relieved of the burden of corrupt practices unless when proven to have acted in mischief. Buhari as the president of Nigeria I would offer a personal advice not to pursue corrupt cases in a reactive measure as that would cost the government a lot on material and financial liability or burden but he should lay a template with which present and future corrupt acts would be handled and dealt with. I strongly advice that a method as stated in this article is adopted in the fight against corruption, as this would remove allegations such as witch-hunting, abuse of authority and disregard for human rights. God bless the president God bless Nigeria! |
Shortyy:Only short people behave like this. |
Texcoco:Who tell you!! You have never been hunted by the police that's why you are talking like this. A cousin of mine was involved in an armed robbery incident in lagos, but I tell you he was hunted right to akwa ibom state where he went to hide. Although at the end of the day it was discovered he was framed up because the criminals were close friends who used to live with him in his house. Although the family and extended family spent. A huge some to clear him off police net but that incident told me never to under estimate this our Nigeria police. Do it at your risk. They may be corrupt o no doubt but I tell you they have more connections within and outside the criminal world than most criminals themselves. |

obailala:I hope you would get my point, Many Nigerian prophets predicted jonathan victory but we all know the outcome. God should have just been plain with his mouthpieces. Honestly speaking there is no hand work of God. Things always happen by the virtue of what we do about and how. God does not play any role in anything that goes on here on earth. Unless God is Nature then it is understandable. In a nutshell there is no God! |
obailala:Can you prove it was God's will? Or is its will flexible enough to assume the outcome of whatever whether or not it contradicts previous position? |
Arosa:I don't have to bribe God, I only need to prove it exist. |
Well I'm not the least surprised at the comments here. I'm not saying God does not answer prayers but most times only us can answer our prayers. And we should stop vouching for a God we can not prove his existence or location! |
Never has it been in our history as a country has a sitting president sort the approval of God to help retain his position as the number one person as did our dear Goodluck Jonathan. We watched him call on every church assembly anywhere within the length and breath of the federation from the popular ones like ''winners chapel and RCCG'' to the not too popular ones in remote areas in Otuoke. Interestingly he was loved in return with one of his closest persons being members of the clergy like the influential Ayo Oritsejafor. The president visited Jerusalem, had the privilege of having the most anointed Nigerian pastors lay hands on him as individuals and group. To many faith-fools like myself, his victory in the polls was certain I mean who can change what God has ordained according to the numerous prophecies. Come march 29th, we watched in helplessness something that has never happened in our country unfold before our very eyes. "Jonathan" LOST his incumbency to the opposition who is a 'muslim'. Now that was significant. GOD did not answer our prayers. Even if he, God refused us our request what of those of the Bishops, Cardinals, apostles and prophets? They all got deafening and embarrassing rejection. Reminds me of a popular Episode in the Bible where Ahab consulted the prophets and they were all singing his praise of victory whereas God's approved death awaited him. Now to answer the question if God had actually stopped listening, I would have to ask a corresponding question "Was God ever listening to Us at all?" God is like an Umpire in the fight between Good and evil, between christians and Muslims, between this or that because as we all know and agree, God is the creator of everything. God is God because of his neutrality in matters that concerns our selfish and personal fulfillment. Imagine God taking sides in matters that divides us as humans whether in the very controversial issues of whether Homosexuality should be practiced or not, or whether migrants should be granted asylum or not, there and then God would loss his credibility as God just as an umpire would loss his credibility when he decides to front for one of the contending opponents. It should not come as surprise where non believing societies like china and Russia tend to prosper much more than staunchly pious societies like ours here in Nigeria. The chinese does not need Marathon Night vigils to unleash the miracle of abundant blessings. They currently have more than a hundred Billionaires in dollars. In Nigeria every sunday we are inundated with testimonies of some very few who claim God has blessed them with multi million naira jobs "glory be to God" but what we fail to ask ourselves, what happens to the remaining thousands in the congregation without jobs or food to eat. Does it mean that God hates them? If we as a society must escape the Jonathan syndrome, we must banish the thought or action of an unnecessary reliance on "God" to perform any magic because with or without any divine hobnob we could as a people prosper as long as we put into practice the universal principle for success. I know many would want to argue that I am demeaning christianity and religion in general, but I am saying is that whatever religion we choose to follow, it should be a thing for the mind only not something to replace the position of common sense, reality and responsibility. Finally, God has not stopped listening because he was not even listening. I know it would break many peoples heart but that's the truth. By: @gsaint_trinity (twitter) |
Some people say that free Oil-money is the real cause of corruption in Nigeria, but I still want to express my reservation and point out some terrible characteristics being exhibited in the country today. 1: indiscriminate dumping of refuse and erection of illegal structures on public infrastructure. This practice is the norm in Nigeria and I have not been able to draw a draw connecting this poignant act with the oil largess. Corruption in my own terms mean 'to take undue advantage of your position to exert a self satisfying agenda often to the detriment of the general society.' Haven said this, dumping of refuse in open drainages and what ever open spaces within and outside the territory of Nigeria including air and land spaces is the most grievous of all facets of corruption in the country because the effects of such practice is Gigantic. EBOLA: we are all aware of the devastating effect of EVD but what many seems not be aware of, is that the prevalence of the disease rest on the dirty habits of the society. Poor sanitation and public hygiene was and still is the major contribution to this disaster. The incident in one of the south-western state of Nigeria were it is recorded that people were dying of unknown causes. Even when the resident allocate blame to some Non-existing god, or the officials record of poisoning from either herbicides or local gin, but it all boils down to poor public sanitation and hygiene because when proper methods are applied in handling our waste and refuses there would be no issues of poising coming in contact with our edibles. Cholera, malaria, typhoid etc accounts for majority of infant and adult deaths in Nigeria and all these diseases are connected with the very nauseous habit of nonchalance towards public health safety. You see people cleaning up their homes and the resultant dirt finding its place in the street. Unclean drains housing the deadly mosquitoes are a result of our general penchant for public corruption towards the environment and in effect our collective health. Finally, hundreds of thousand are incapacitated, or dead as a result of this environment and health related corruption. The incoming Buhari Government should pay keen attention to addressing this wanton abuse of our environment and our general health. There is no greater risk poised by corruption than the degradation of our environment and our collective lives. By: @gsaint_trinity (twitter) |
