EducationRe: How I Used What I Had To Get What I Wanted In The University by guardian09(m): 1:13am On Nov 26, 2015
thatsincerechic:
After i got back from class the Thursday afternoon I met Andy, Rita was home reading, I greeted her but there was no response. I called out her name and greeted for the second time and she finally replied with
"fine.. Welcome" which was not audible enough but I guessed those were her words because I read her lips. The rest of the day was painfully slow and i wished the next day would come sooner so I could go for lectures.
When it was almost eight in the evening, I could not bear the silence any longer, told Rita I was going into the school campus to read in one of the lecture halls, she nodded and then I took my books and left.
Back at the lecture Hall, I was finding it difficult to comprehend anything I read, the next course was the worse, even my most favourite course was so boring to me and then I gave up on reading and slept all through the night.
As early as five in the morning, I was out of campus, headed straight to Rita's apartment, opened the door from the outside, found her sleeping when I was inside, cleaned up, got dressed and took my writing materials and left the house by 7am even though the first lecture for that day was scheduled for 11am.
I met Andy after classes, he reminded me about his birthday party which was the next day, I noted and left.
Not long after I met Andy, my mother called to know how I was faring. I wanted to say a lot, tell her I was dying inside, that I was in pains, I was depressed but I thought it wouldn't make any difference So i told her I was having accommodation issues, I couldn't hide it any longer. I narrated the whole Rita accommodation brouhaha to her of which we finally concluded she was going to talk to Rita on the phone as soon as I got home.
I was finally home, tired and Worried. Rita was out, the pots in the kitchen were empty and i was very hungry. I opted for cornflakes only to realise that all her provisions were missing and the only thing I saw was my custard which I bought for that semester.
I sigh deeply, stood on the spot for a long time before deciding on having custard and then I slept.
I woke up in the middle of the night, Rita was not back still. I woke up again by 3am still no sign of her. I had made sure I removed my keys from the keyhole so she could open the door from outside instead of waking me up. When I was finally awake by 6am, I became worried, called her mobile line severally but there was no response.
Andy's birthday started at exactly 12pm like he said it would. Guests kept coming till past 2pm, the whole place was filled up with our course mates, friend's of his, and some of his relatives.
There was plenty of food, alcoholic and none alcoholic drinks, there was indeed merriment in the air and soon enough I forgot about all my problems.
The party ended by 6 pm and i left for Rita's place only for me to meet a big package awaiting me. As soon as I got to the entrance of the building of Rita's apartment , I saw a luggage at the security post In my subconscious mind, walked past only for me to turn back after I had taken few steps because the luggage look like it was mine. I got back to the security post to confirm it was mine, I was baffled when I realised the bitter truth. The security man was trying to tell me some things but I was too shocked to listen, I rushed upstairs, knocked on Rita's door, there was no response so I decided to use my keys, only for me to find out that the lock had been changed. I was transfixed, staring at the door, I felt light weighted and for a moment thought I was going to faint...
Lovely story, I may be missing something@bolded, thought you sold your phone, if so how did your mum get across to you or am I missing something? Keep it up doing a great job.
SportsAgent Dismisses Reports Victor Osimhen Has Signed For Tottenham Hotspurs by guardian09(op): 11:31pm On Nov 13, 2015
The bonafide representative of Golden Boot winner at the Fifa Under 17 World Cup, Victor Osimhen, has made it crystal clear that there is no truth to reports that claimed the striker has agreed a deal with Tottenham Hotspur.

Shira Yussuf, the elder brother of Nigeria international and ex Dynamo Kiev midfielder Yussuf Ayila, and his partner, Ariyo Igbayilola, have pleaded that their client should not be unsettled with transfer speculations, as he just returned to Lagos after spending several months with the Under 17 national team.

“We have not agreed anything with Tottenham Hotspur, it’s just speculation, ” Yusuf Shira Ayila told allnigeriasoccer.com.

“Victor Osimhen needs to rest, they shouldn’t unsettle the player with these transfer stories. How will a player be in Lagos and they are speculating he has signed a contract with Tottenham Hotspur?”

Shira Yussuf added : “ For now we don’t know where he’ll play. We have a lot of top clubs in Europe that are after Osimhen but in due course the public will know where he is heading to. We can’t decide without the player.”

Allnigeriasoccer.com has been informed by sources close to the situation that Osimhen is likely to join an English Premier League club, with the likes of Manchester United, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool all scrambling for his signature.

The Ultimate Strikers poster boy etched his name into Fifa Under 17 World Cup folklore after netting 10 times at the recently concluded tourney in Chile.

Victor Osimhen arrived in Lagos late last night from Abuja alongside his coach, Chinedu Ogbenna, and his intermediaries.

Help o! I need emergency help o! I tried to order from matalan.co.UK but it is not accepting my Nigerian master card because I can't enter the Nigerian billing address. What do I do o? I am a size tiny and I rarely see my sizes in shops so I have to order for a thick jacket online. And they have one that is on sale. Please help me before they sell out. I am on my knees begging. This cold is dealing with me mehn.
Two ways to go about this, either open an account here in the Uk for your internet transactions or inform your bank in Nigeria that you would love to use your card outside the country to purchase goods or services online. I would prefer you open a UK bank account as it is the easier of the two options and cost effective. Asking your bank in Nigeria to activate your card for internet purchases will likely take time to resolve.
PoliticsAkwa Ibom Governor’s Driver Not An Impersonator by guardian09(op): 7:35pm On Sep 16, 2015
Contrary to a false report that the official driver of Governor Udom Emmanuel is not a personnel of the Nigeria Police, Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Aniekan Umanah says Mr. Bassey Edet is a bonafide officer of the Force.

Speaking in his office on a story in the Punch Newspaper of Monday, September 14, 2015 purporting that the driver is involved in Police impersonation saga, Mr. Umanah said that Edet is a certified, trained spy policeman and therefore, cannot be said to be an impersonator.

The Information boss said that Mr Edet’s Police Force Identification Number is 1522, having attended Police Training School, Ikeja, Lagos State, and wondered how could be accused of breaching any rules by wearing his uniform.

Mr Umanah, who displayed photocopies of Mr Edet’s Police Identity Card and Certificates, explained that the officer is a duly trained personnel of the police, working with the State Government.

He dismissed as false, the allegation that the Governor’s driver was defrauding financial institutions by taking multiple salaries, noting “that I have in good authority that the Bank referred to in that report false publication, like other international organizations, does not hire drivers, therefore, could not have had his name on its payroll.”

While decrying the partisan disposition of some reporters in Akwa Ibom, which he said is well known, Mr. Umanah stressed that it is unfortunate that the writer of the story allowed sentiments to becloud his reportage of events in the state. He charged journalists to avoid being used by any persons or interests to subvert the truth and to always ensure fairness and objectivity in their reports.

The Commissioner reaffirmed that Governor Udom Emmanuel and all members of his cabinet are law-abiding, and would not engage in any act that is unlawful or inimical to the peace, progress and development of the society.

Hello guys, contributions from this thread and similar av been of help to me in my application... I dove my hat.
I will be coming in to cardiff uni for my mba program and will like to ask few questions.
Would it be advisable to buy provisions here or when u get to the uk? You can see anything you want here in the Uk provided you know where to look for it even down to foodstuffs from Nigeria.
What are the documents that will be checked at the airport? Just have your admission letter, visa entry document(s), sometimes your bank statement if the officer wants to take it over the top
What kind of clothes will be needed now as to beat the weather? Its Summer now by September temperature should be between 13-20 degrees and 10-16 degrees in October so you can shop for warmer clothes here if need be.
Will I be able to get my naija jollof rice, Eba and poundyam smiley over there? There are Nigerian restaurants in major cities in the UK so no problem with the Nigerian delicacies, if you do know how to cook you can get the ingredients yourself at any african shop.
What are the part time jobs that will be available?
Any other survival tips ? Just abide by the laws of the land and look out for students discount as well to help you save on cost of certain goods.
Any cardiff uni students or neighbours in the building Sorry am not in Cardiff but I thought I contribute. Cheers.
All responses will be appreciated

Then she can ask specific question because some of the things she talked about has been discussed here and the situation still remain the same...e.g school accommodation vs private renting, getting part time job, best network to call Nigeria with...etc

I just think that sometimes people don't bother to read threads if its longer than one page
Well I do believe Justwise is right on this one, it's only when there are changes to things affecting life here that one can add new things otherwise basically everything has been covered. If there be anything that anybody needs clarification on all he/she needs to do is ask away and probably read some pages back.it's only 131 pages long what of threads that are like 500 pages especially those that have to do with visa application. Yes everyone loves or wants new information but the old one is like history which only adds or is some form of experience.

Try using the card tomorrow I am guessing it's just the normal eish of financial institution not being available. I get that problem with my First Bank atm card sometimes even today.

Hmmmph 30 pounds he he okay...@spikesC am guessing you got a mail about this...will probably speak with First bank about it first though ...had gotten wind of this from a Zenith Bank customer, checked the OIS company website and read that the BVN registration at their London and Leicester offices is for all Nigerian bank account holders. I then called Gtb and the customer care rep was like I should be careful as it might be a scam as CBN has not given any modalities to BVN registration for customers in the Diaspora and that no one is to pay to register for BVN.

Update: Just spoke with a customer care rep of First Bank who says info is authentic, will try and carry out my registration asap.

RomanceRe: When Will Nigerian Ladies Start Going Dutch On A Date by guardian09(m): 10:39am On Jun 20, 2015
Me think it all boils down to exposure...as much as dating or going out between the sexes is a mutual agreement it will be expected that everything be spilt equally bills inclusive which is obtainable in the Western world, but this is unobtainable due to the following facts

1. A great percentage of Nigerian men see it as being less of a man if a lady picks up part or pays up the bill for a date. This is stemmed from the fact that in the typical African culture a male is seen as the provider for his family or the society which he exists. This makes it less likely for a lady to consider helping out in footing the bill to a date. This can be seen from the example given earlier by Whizqueen(I used to belong to this part of the spectrum until some years ago, that is believing it is wrong for a lady to help out at all).

2. Following the above stated fact a great percentage of ladies will see a lot wrong with footing the bill to a date therefore leave all to the menfolk which has sadly encouraged some ladies to be greedy sometimes asking for as much as 5 plates of food to take back home or come with her female friends when she did not tell the guy she will be coming with a friend/friends and the lady will not help foot the bill for the outing which clearly is wrong.

3.To prevent the above scenario playing out where a guy is considering not to spend too much on a date, he opts for asking the lady to his place for a date which he considers cheaper as he can at least be in control of what the lady orders or how much he spends. Sadly this can also be misconstrued by the lady that probably the guy wants sex after(which I wont blame her for as most guys this is what they want in actual fact).

To resolve this a first date in an open place eg Park,Zoo etc should suffice as I believe expenses will be kept low, with both sexes picking the bill if they so agree to that. This will offer an opportunity for both sexes to get to know more about themselves rather than worry about who pays for what or its too expensive or does he want sex by inviting me to his place etc.
