chrisw29: Thank you adamsjosef, the problem is that the courses start in january and I have to apply for visa not later than the begining of december otherwise i won't have my visa on time. The earlier you make the transfer the better. Assuming the trf is made next week,by ending of december u must have made your 28day count and then apply 4 ur Visa although you might get it pretty late but I believe it is worth a shot. |
defemz: Abeg guys is it still working during the day time? abeg answer as I want to load it now.Yep but once you exhaust the bonus gig allotted to you,you will be restricted to browsing between 9pm - 6am |
royalsweetness: Someone please answer me. When I'm printing my account statement for student visa application, am I supposed to print for a duration of 28 days or for a duration of 6 months or what. I can't seem to find anywhere where its written. What the embassy officials are interested in seeing is that the funds have been in your account for 28days and the end date of your statement to the date of your applying for your visa shouldn't be longer than a month,so it doesn't matter if its a 2mnths,3mnths or 6mnths bank statement but it should meet the requirement stated above. |
miz Gene: Really? Good to know, but how does one check? Cos I just cdnt find it on the bank site.Check Oanda.com, you will be able to check live exchange rates and historical exchange rates too between two or more currencies at a time and yes from what I have noticed on the site the rate does drop till mid January when we have people travelling out to study. Right now on the site a pound is N257.04 to a pound whereas when I checked yesterday it was doing N258. |
miz Gene: D rate was as at Sunday niteCheck it out by tomorrow and thursday, the exchange rates usually drop by midweek. |
miz Gene: Aiit.what school will you be studying in from January? |
miz Gene: @ guardian09, pls which uni r u headed to?Middlesex University ,London |
Kayusfity: thanks but can I possibly get a job within one month?? I only have limited funds after payment of tuition and other cost to get me to englandI am not in the UK yet,I will be leaving come January so I can't tell you if you will get a job in a month or not but from my research and answers to questions I have asked as regards getting a job there it is not easy @ all infact your chances of getting a job is next to zero within the first couple of months. Like I advised earlier be sure you have everything before you leave for Uk. It isn't easy over there especially with black immigrants. |
Kayusfity: what do u mean by my own money? Is it the basic travel allowance? If so what range should I look for? Pls replyThe essence of your depositing your maintenance money in your account for @ least 28days is to prove to the visa official that you can take care of yourself whilst at the UK to study, now you said you are getting this money from someone just to enable you get your visa. Will you have your own money to take care of yourself before you travel ? it is wrong for you to go to the UK with the notion that there is a job waiting for you when you get there so it is best you get everything ready before you even leave Nigeria. My advice get everything set before you even apply to the school you intend to study. |
Kayusfity: Thanks so much for your response. i intend to borrow the money for the exact 28 days and the lender would not be patient enough to wait further. A friend of mine in London said the money can be withdrawn after 28 days cos what the embassy needs to see is the statement showing the funds was lodged for 28 days. please i need more clarifications on this issue cos i don't want to mess the applicationAs miz Gene had told you earlier leave the money in your account till you get your visa, then you can withdraw, explain the situation to the person lending you the money that you need to have the money a little longer am sure he/she should understand. I do hope you have made arrangements for your own money seeing that you are getting money from someone to fund your account just to get the visa. |

Akposy: Tanx bro... It didn't work but d problem is from d memory card cos anoda memory card worked we'll wit my BBUWC |
Akposy: I did d ba3 pull but is d same tin.......I dnt ave a laptopTry taking out the memory card and inserting it in the phone again...if it doesn't work I don't know what could be the problem then. I only have this issue when I connect it to my laptop sometimes. |
Just do a battery pull. Your contents should be available again. I do not repair phones,I use a curve4 and I have experienced this problem mostly when I connect it to my laptop. Next time when you do connect your phone to your laptop there is usually a list of options that pops up, pick the option that says USB drive . |
Osahon7: I heard Curve 4 battery doesnt last long..how true is it? I nid ur advise plsYour better off with a Blackberry Bold 4 or 5, Curve 4 heats up whilst using 3G and battery life sucks, imagine charging your fone 4 to 5 times in a day,you can only ping @ the most an hour after it is fully charged. My brother I am so getting another phone in a couple of days. More like setting myself free from bondage. |
Morning all, I intend to to get a new phone in a couple of days and am stuck between two phones , Samsung galaxy grand and Samsung galaxy mega 5.8" anyone used the two which do I go for and maybe with reasons. Thank You. |

physise: no issue with d battery. ..d performance on 4.2.2 is beta dan 4.1.2. ..videocalling with skype works perfectly wellThank you so much and do stay blessed. Will let you know when I get it and maybe have any more questions |
physise: yea u can SkypeThanks so much @physise. I meant video calling with skype? And for those who upgraded to v4.2.2(Jelly bean) any issues with the battery and is the performance of the phone better with the upgrade. Thanks in advance. |
Hello everyone,I intend to get this phone this month but I wanna know if one can skype with this baby or has anyone tried using skype with it. Thanks sorry if my question sounds silly. |
sashacoleman: Hi Guys,I did a money transfer to make payment for my fees, that was the means of payment I was comfortable with, though it was with GTB and yes you can make use of your savings account statement just make sure the end date isn't older than a month to the date you are applying for the visa and that the amount in it has been there for 28days. Also the amount has to be @least or more than what you need to show as maintenance money and any amount left as school fees |
Somebody should be please help me with the above. I need to submit my documents on Wednesday.
Have you tried running a search via google? |
royalsweetness: Ohk, thanks a lotYou are most welcome. |
royalsweetness: Thanks a lot. Lol, it was an oyinbo at the school. I'd be going to GTB this morning for the domiciliary account. The school is RGU and I'm trying to pay a little over a million naira. Is there a problem with that?If you are making a trf frm your domiciliary there is no need for oanda converter, all you do is fund your acct with the amount you need to trf and then fill the trf request form @ gtb and please do remember to fund your account to take up the charges of the trf. The charges could be taken from your naira account or domiciliary acct depending on which 1 you re comfortable with. You also ask for how much is likely to be taken as charges for the amount you want to trf. You will most likely have to buy the currency amount from a bureau de change so it is not going to be the same exchange rate you see on oanda converter web page. |
ochukoccna: Oh, that's even a more pertinent time to bring warm clothing from Nigeria aka winter tinsWill do thank you. How are you settling in?@Disguy £400 pounds a month now that is really high o |
adaobi123: Which part of England are you heading to ? North London my sister, will do as you said... . |
ochukoccna: @ guardian 09, I see you are reading the thread.Am still in Nigeria would be coming over to london in January. I was only asking to know what I needed to include in my to do list before I leave. |
Itstyme: You all have been a good source of help and giving loads of folks great platform to share their views and experiences. One major question that I haven't seen asked or answered is the age of an applicant or prolly I didnt come across is; is there any maximum age limit an applicant may attain that could cause a visa denial especially for bachelors program. Please do advise from past experiences and applications.I don't think age plays a role in visa denial for any student wanting to study a bachelors degree program in the Uk. |
royalsweetness: Ok, all I can read beneath your lines are 'don't do anything illegal'. So what's my legal option, how do I prove my uncle is my legal guardian. Thanks.Just open a bank account in your name if you don't have one and ask him to transfer the money there, its a lot better with less documentation than the option of proving someone is your legal guardian. Besides if the money is yours is there any need keeping it in his account ?Not unless you re under 18 years. |
fiscalcliff: So somebody coming afresh into the UK should not come with warm clothing no matter how little?Thank you |
Lols
thank you. How are you settling in?

North London my sister, will do as you said...
