Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, after the Federal Executive Council meeting on Wednesday, revealed that no work, no pay principle has been approved by the presidency.

The Federal Executive Council has approved the implementation of the no work, no pay principle when workers go on strike in the federal public service.

Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige, disclosed this on Wednesday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, while briefing State House Correspondents after FEC meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.
He said the approval was sequel to the adoption of the Draft White Paper on the Report of the Technical Committee on Industrial Relations Matters in the Federal Public Service.

Ngige said that the public service in Nigeria was bedevilled by problems and conflict areas; hence governments over time set up various committees and brought out circulars in a bid to stem the tide of industrial dispute.

The minister said that the technical committee, which was inaugurated on April 27, 2016, did their work and submitted to the FEC in Oct. 2017.
“FEC in turn, empanelled a committee of ten which I chaired to do a government Draft White Paper on those contentious areas that the technical committee had looked at.

“These contentious areas are enforcement of section 43 of the Trade Dispute Act Law of the Federation 2004; this is the section that deals with lockout of workers by their employers without declaring redundancy appropriately.
“Because in some establishments, especially in the private sector, workers are locked out by their employers; so the law there says that if you lock your workers without passing through the normal channel-due process.

“For the period of the lock out, the worker is assumed to be at work and will receive all the remunerations and allowances, benefits accruing to him for the period and that period will also be counted for him as a pensionable period in the computation of his pension.
“But when workers go on strike, the principle of no-work-no-pay will also apply because that principle is enshrined in the same section 43 of the Labour Act.’’

According to Ngige, the section says that for the period a worker withdraws his services, government or his employers are not entitled to pay.
The minister said that under the section, the period for which the worker was absent would not count as part of his pensionable period in the public service.

He said that FEC accepted it as a white paper recommendation that should be gazetted because even the National Industrial Court had made pronouncement on that law and said that it was clear.
Ngige said that another area was the issue of public servants remaining permanently in the executive bodies on trade unions.

“Government realises that some persons in the public service go into trade union executive positions; hold offices; and they do that for life; for as long as they are in the service.
“In doing so, they will refuse postings and deployments under the guise that are doing trade union activities; government says no.
“You have to be a public servant first before you become a trade unionist; therefore, if you are there; the public service rules will also apply to you.

“And in doing so, government says establishments will look at the issues and give it a human face in order not to disrupt trade unionism.
“And in furtherance to this, government has also said that there must tenure stipulations because people stay there without tenure; many organisations give people union positions without tenure; government says there is no office that does not have tenure.’’

Ngige said that trade unions, henceforth, should present constitutions that must have tenures; at least, maximum of two tenures for any elective position.
He said that another aspect of the report discussed by the council was the issue of residence training for medical doctors.
According to him, the residence training for medical doctors has been contentious one as some medical doctors come into this training and become professional unionists and stay there as permanent job.

He said that the Federal Government had fixed tenure for residence training of medical doctors, which was seven years within the trainee was to pass all his exams or quit.
Ngige said that FEC also looked at the Ayere report on inter-professional rivalry in the health sector and directed the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) to present it FEC for deliberation.

On the minimum wage, the minister restated that the Federal Government’s stance was N24, 000 per month.
He said that once minimum wage was fixed, any organisation or state that had the capacity to pay more could do that.
Ngige cited that Edo, Delta and Lagos states paid their workers more than the current N18, 000 national minimum wage.

According to reports, a pastor drowned in a flood while purportedly trying to rescue an offering bowl after a heavy downpour.


The Ghanaian pastor identified as Rev. Issac Assiamah Arthur drowned by the heavy down pour in Apapam a town in Kyebi in the Eastern region.

Report has it that the church had a mega crusade on Wednesday and Thursday as the offerings were all stored in a bowl and was supposed to be taken to the bank on Friday.

However, Thursday night, it rained heavy and the whole town was flooded, peoples room were flooded.

Unfortunately, the flood got into Rev. Issac Assiamah Arthur’s church and destroyed everything.

The flood also took away the church’s offertory bowl .

In a bid to rescue the offertory bowl, Rev. Issac Assiamah Arthur was said to have drowned in the flood.

Residents in the town later found his body few meters from his house and deposited it at the morgue pending autopsy.

They lodged a complaint to the police in Kyebi area of Ghana, who have began investigations .

Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has reacted to the travel ban placed on 50 prominent Nigerians by President Muhammadu Buhari.


In a statement released by Atiku Media Office, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, on Sunday, condemned the restriction of 50 Nigerians and seizure of their assets without due judicial pronouncement.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari announced in a statement on Saturday that some 50 persons have been barred from travelling out of the country, saying the move was to deprive them the benefits of depleting their alleged loot.

The Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar who emerged the major challenger to Buhari for 2019, said the order, which he described as a vestige of Buhari’s brutal dictatorship from the 1980s, was capable of devastating the Nigerian economy, and could at worse plunge the most-populous black nation into anarchy.

He said: “We must be unequivocal in saying that we abhor any act of criminality, financially or otherwise, but the rule of law must be our guide at all times or society will descend to anarchy.

“Thus, we find it most undemocratic that in a nation governed by the rule of law, a President who swore an oath to abide by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, does this.

“It is a throwback to Buhari’s evil Decree Number Two of 1984 which criminalised truth telling if it did not please Buhari, proving that dictators can grow old, but they can’t grow into democrats.

“Under the Buhari administration, Nigeria has witnessed an unprecedented capital flight out of the nation to the extent that we are not even listed amongst the top ten recipients of Foreign Direct Investment in Africa in the latest ranking by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development. Buhari’s Draconian Executive Order Would Lead to Capital Flight and Another Recession

Abuja, Nigeria, 14 October, 2018: Our attention has been drawn to the statement by the Presidency banning 50 unnamed Nigerians from travelling out of the country, purportedly on the strength of Executive Order 6. Their crime being that they are suspected of having property overseas and are involved in tax dodging or other alleged financial infractions.

We must be unequivocal in saying that we abhor any act of criminality, financially or otherwise, but the rule of law must be our guide at all times or society will descend to anarchy. Thus, we find it most undemocratic that in a nation governed by the rule of law, a President who swore an oath to abide by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, does this.

If past events are to be the judge, these 50 individuals will conveniently be critics and opponents of the Buhari administration. This is nothing short of intimidation ahead of the 2019 elections. This is what the Buhari administration did in Osun where they froze the accounts of the Adeleke family and then illegally and clandestinely paid N16.7 billion to the Osun state government to facilitate daylight electoral robbery.

The Nigerian Constitution guarantees every Nigerian citizen freedom of movement and freedom of association. This Constitutional right cannot be taken away except by a court order.



If the Buhari administration wants to curtail the rights of Nigerians, then they must go to court and obtain a court order. Anything short of this is unconstitutional and extrajudicial.

This sudden dictatorial act brings to mind President Buhari’s comments for which he was condemned by the international community and by the generality of Nigerians.

While delivering an address at the annual general conference of the Nigerian Bar Association on August 26, 2018, President Buhari has said “where national security and public interest are threatened or there is a likelihood of their being threatened, the individual rights of those allegedly responsible must take second place, in favour of the greater good of society.”

That was not only a faulty interpretation of the constitution, the statement also betrays the dictatorial and authoritarian mindset of President Buhari because only he gets to decide who and what threatens national security.

It is a throwback to Buhari’s evil Decree Number Two of 1984 which criminalised truth telling if it did not please Buhari, proving that dictators can grow old, but they can’t grow into democrats.

Under the Buhari administration, Nigeria has witnessed an unprecedented capital flight out of the nation to the extent that we are not even listed amongst the top ten recipients of Foreign Direct Investment in Africa in the latest ranking by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development. It is salient to note that we were number one under the last Peoples Democratic Party administration.

Funny enough, the Buhari administration were unable to stop Abdulrasheed Maina, their financier, from leaving the country after he was illegally brought back by them and reinstated to the federal service with double promotion.

It is precisely this type of draconian orders that have chased investors away from Nigeria and it is precisely why Nigerians will chase this recession friendly government away from power on February 16, 2019, so we can begin the job of Getting Nigeria Working Again.

Operatives of the Inspector General of Police Special Intelligence Response Team, IRT, have apprehended four Commanders of the notorious Armed gangs which specialised in Killings, cattle rustling and kidnappings in Zamfara state and their overall arms supplier.


The suspects, identified as Hamisu Sani, Shehu Sani, Yusuf Mande and Lawal Abubakar, were trailed to their hideouts in Bauchi and Zamfara States, by the IRT, through the aid of intelligent gathering and deployment of advance technologies.

Police sources disclosed that the suspects who were mainly Fulani natives confessed during interrogations to be commanders of the Notorious Buharin Daji’s group which had been terrorizing farmers, Villagers and cattle herders across several towns and communities of Zamfara State in recent time.

It was gathered that one of Buharin Daji’s Main arms supplier Lawal Abubakar, was arrested in Zamfara State, when the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, deployed his operatives of the Special Intelligence Response Team, IRT, led by DCP Abba Kyari and he confessed to have supplied over 100 Ak-47 assault rifles to the group. His confessions were said to have aided the operatives in apprehending three other commanders of the group.

When Vanguard interviewed the suspects, 27-year-old Shehu Sani, who identified himself as one of Buharin Daji’s commanders explained that his group killed their victims who were mainly inhabitants of remote villages in Zamafara State for putting up resistance while trying to rustle their cattle.

In his confession, he said, “I joined the Buharin Daji’s group because I needed to protect my cattle from being rustled. I have gone to several operations with him in Zamfara State and our intentions were mainly cattle rustling but some of the villagers put up resistance and we had no option than to kill them and burn their houses before carting away their cattle. Buharin Daji used to pay me N50000 after each killing and cattle rustling, but he had been killed by Dogo Gide’s group. I had no intention to kill anyone, I only wanted their cattle.

Another commander of the group, Yusuf Mande,30, said he joined the group because some vigilante men from a neighboring village attacked his own village and burned down his house and several others before carting away over 120 cows. His words: “I am a Fulani native from Kunkele Village in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State. I am also a member of the Buhari Daji’s group and we were responsible for most of the killings within Zamfara state. I joined Buhari Daji’s group in year 2014 because some people from Ruwanmesa village came to my village and set fire on over 30 houses including my own house.

They took away over 120 cows. After I joined the group, I told Buharin Daji what happened in my village. He then brought his men, attacked Ruwanmesa village and we killed every one including women and children. We took away over 50 cows and I was given one out of it. I also went for an attack in Mashema in Maru Local Government in May 2017 and we killed every one in the village. We attacked the Mashema because their people attacked a Fulani village and killed its inhabitants in Zanfara State.

After we attacked Mashema we took away 40 cows and seven camels, I was given one cow after the operation.

The arms supplier, Lawali Abubakar, told Vanguard that he made only N20,000 from each of the over 100 pieces of AK-47 which he supplied to the group. He said; “I am married to three wives and I have 23 children, and I am also a farmer and cattle rearer from Zamfra State. Buhrin Daji approached me and said he needed Ak-47 rifles and he gave N1.8million. I got the arms from one Alhaji Suleiman at Bariki-Ladi Plateau state. Five days later, Buhari Daji sent me another N1.8million to buy another five set of Ak-47 rifles. I made N20,000 from each Rifle from that deal”. That is how I started the AK47 Rifle Business.

A woman was filmed falling off a balcony of a high-rise building in Panama while trying to take a selfie on Friday. The Portuguese woman identified as Sandra Manuela Da Costa Macedo, 27, had just recently arrived to Panama where she had a job as a teacher, according to the Portuguese newspaper O Minho.

Macedo was a native of the northern Portuguese town of Aves. She is survived by two children.

Susana Cunha Barros, a Portuguese woman, posted a tribute on Facebook to Macedo.

‘So long,’ Barros wrote in the caption above a photo of the teacher.

‘Sandra… thank you for your contribution in the education of my daughter Helena… Will always be remembered with great affection.’

Macedo was filmed from afar as she tragically fell to her death from the 27th floor of a high-rise block while losing her balance taking a selfie.

She went over a balcony railing she was leaning against as she took the snap.

Sickening video footage showed her still holding the selfie stick as she plunged to the ground below.

An onlooker filming the tragedy shouted: ‘She’s mad, there she goes, look at her, look at her, she’s fallen.’

Paramedics rushed to the scene, a building called the Luxor Tower in a popular neighbourhood of Panama City called El Cangrejo after the alarm was raised just after 10 am local time yesterday.

The woman, initially identified as a Portuguese holidaymaker who had just arrived in Panama although a woman describing herself as a friend later took to social media to say she was a mother-of-two who had gone to the country to work as a teacher, was already dead when they arrived.

Construction workers on a neighbouring tower block are said to have yelled at her to get down from the railing she was half-sat on before her death plunge, but strong winds blowing at the time meant she couldn’t hear their warning cries.

The All Progress Congress (APC) says the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) cannot prevent its candidates being put through the corruption and integrity test.

The APC stated this in a statement by its publicity secretary, Yekini Nabena, on Thursday.

The party was reacting to a statement by spokesperson of the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, in which he accused the APC-led administration of “deliberate efforts to impugn on the character” of the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

“The PDP cannot be simplistic and attempt to wish away the issue of the integrity of candidates seeking elections into positions at all levels, particularly as 2019 approaches,” Mr Nabena said.

“We reiterate our position that the Nigerian electorate must have that opportunity to choose from candidates that can pass the integrity and anti-corruption test.

“The character of office holders we elect into public offices is important as our very progress and development as a country depends on it.

“When the choice is to be made, the electorate have the option of a proven and decent presidential candidate who is putting the people first and on the other hand a racketeer who will readily mortgage the country’s commonwealth to personal coffers and cronies.”

APC said the opinion of the PDP that its comment was a deliberate attack on the character of Mr Abubakar, is laughable.

It alleged that the spokesperson of PDP once did a report which indicted Mr Abubakar.

“Coming from its spokesperson is ironic and laughable, given the fact that Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan as an editor with one of the national newspapers in fact unearthed the Special Audit/Forensic Investigation of Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) which indicted Alh. Atiku Abubakar, then Vice President for the mismanagement of the Fund.

“The PDP spokesperson in his published report disclosed that from 1999 to 2006, Atiku’s approval for the release of $20m from the treasury and subsequent placement in Trans International Bank without appropriation and approval by the Federal Executive Council (FEC) was illegal and amounted to abuse of office.”

The party said its claims are not false, insisting that Mr Abubakar has several corruption indictments he must come to terms with.

“There are no lies here. Alh. Atiku Abubakar grapples with several other corruption indictments. This is a fact and reality he needs to deal with and come clean about.”

A heartless woman who stabbed her boyfriend to death during an argument has been sentenced by a court.

A woman who stabbed her boyfriend to death following an argument at their home has been jailed.
Simone Fergus, 34, was sentenced on Friday, 5 October at Wood Green Crown Court in London to five years’ imprisonment after pleading guilty to the manslaughter of her boyfriend, Raul Chiriac, 26, on Monday, 1 October.

The court heard police were called to the home they shared in Zenith Close at 17:58hrs on Sunday, 15 April to reports of a stabbing.
Officers attended along with London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance and found Raul at the scene suffering from a single stab wound.

He was taken to a central London hospital by London Ambulance Service, where he was pronounced dead later that evening.
A post-mortem examination was held on Wednesday, 18 April and gave his cause of death as haemorrhage following a stab wound penetrating the lung.

Fergus was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and charged on Tuesday, 17 April.
The court heard the pair had a turbulent relationship and Fergus admitted to manslaughter.

President Muhammadu Buhari has shared N500million free cash to poor people in Adamawa. Buhari distributed the money from August 2017 to August 2018 through the House Uplifting Programme under the Cash Conditional Transfer programme.

Mr. Zhegun Joseph, the Head of Programme, Adamawa, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Yola. Joseph said that the programme was part fulfillment of President Buhari’s campaign promises and was designed to support the less privileged in the society. ”So far the pilot scheme of the programme kicked-off in August 2017 in Adamawa with 8, 653 beneficiaries in six local government areas of the state. ” Every selected and beneficiary household collected free monthly stipend of N5, 000 cash ” Joseph said. He said that following the successful implementation of the pilot scheme, the Federal Government gave directive to capture additional needed people into the programme. “Now, we have enrolled additional beneficiaries to the tune of 13,520 needy” Joseph said.

According to him, there have been a lot of positive testimonies from beneficiaries after successful implementation of the programme. Joseph said that areas that had benefitted from the programme in Adamawa included Madagali, Michika, Song, Girei, Numan and Lamurde.

Fast rising musician, of the 'wetin you gain' fame, Victor Ad just escaped a robbery he described as deadly. Victor took to IG to thank God and explain how he and his team where robbed on Benin express road.

On my way around shagamu, robbers attacked us and this was very destabilizing. My personal effects were forcefully taken from me while some of my team members and I ran into the bush, I can still remember the robbers shouting “shoot anyone you see” they left with my hype man ( whose wife Just gave birth to twins) who pleaded for his life, he was forced to use POS machines to make transfers to the deadly squad.

INEC and APC At It Again

According to a man name withheld who mailed us a report of what's currently happening in IMO state and the fresh primaries been conducted secretly by the governor.. According our source, he overheard talk about the primaries on low tunes.

In His Words:

I went to buy some bottles of beer to cool off for the weekend and suddenly two inec officials drove in into the joint I was in. They requested for beer and pepper soup, which was served by the sales girl.. After that, they brought out some documents from a big file and started writing election results.. They made mention of Uche Nwosu, Hope Uzodinma, Nnamdi Obareri and some other names which I can't remember.. I moved closer stylishly to view what they're writing as a lover of democracy... On the paper I saw names of candidates.. Uche Nwosu was first on the list, Hope Uzodinma was the second name and others I couldnt see clearly..
On the paper it's written;

Uche Nwosu — 325 votes..
Hope Uzodnma — NIL
Other aspirants got No votes too... I was very uncomfortable with what they're doing I had to take photos of the INEC officials as proof to my claims...

Five All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirants in Imo State have declared support for Sen. Hope Uzodinma, the declared winner of the Imo State governorship primaries conducted on Oct. 1 by the Ahmed Gulak Election Committee.

The aspirants made this known in a communique read by one of them and current Deputy Governor of Imo State, Prince Eze Madumere, at a news conference on Friday in Abuja.

They affirmed that the primary election which was conducted in the 305 electoral wards of the 27 local government areas of the state, was authentic and should be upheld by the party.

They vowed not to participate in any fresh primary election in the state, saying they would stand by the election conducted by the Ahmed Gulak Committee, which produced Uzodinma as winner.


They expressed concern that the APC, which was a great party in the country and beyond, was being made to appear ridiculous over the governorship matter.

They said, “it would be in the best interest of the party to affirm the victory of Senator Hope Uzodinma as the governorship candidate of the party to, ensure overall victory during the 2019 general elections in Imo State.


“Our supporters and aspirants for the other elective positions will neither participate nor accept the result of a repeat governorship primary election in Imo State.

“Such will create chaos and violence in the peace loving state and deny APC the chances of inexpensive victory during the 2019 elections.”

The aspirants further expressed commitment to the electoral success of APC in 2019, while pleading that “the National leadership should call Gov. Rocha’s Okorocha to order.

“Any disposition to thuggery and brigandage is the greatest threat to the peace and security of the state and may jeopardise the chances of the party in the forthcoming election.

“We affirm that the electoral Committee led by Alhaji Ahmed Gulak was in Owerri for the exercise and actually collated results from the various wards and local governments, which culminated in the final state result signed, released and issued to our respective agents by the chairman accordingly.

“As the real stakeholders, we affirm that Sen. Hope Uzodinma won the governorship primary election and as loyal party members and democrats, we accept the result in good faith as the wish of the majority of our party members.”


The aspirants further disclosed that they, through Sen. Hope Uzodinma, had unanimously obtained an order of interlocutory injunction restraining the All Progressives Congress(APC) from conducting a fresh gubernatorial primaries in the State.

The order, according to them, also restrains the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from monitoring any fresh primaries in Imo. The APC and INEC were asked to stay action on any repeat primaries pending the hearing and determination of the substantive suit.

They disclosed that the order had been duly served on INEC and the APC. The APC had cleared nine aspirants to run for the Imo State Governorship primary election. Meanwhile, the list of the aspirants that endorsed Sen. Hope Uzodinma as winner of the primary election are Prince Eze Madumere and Sir Jude Ejiogu, Air Commodore Peter Gbujie (rtd), Mr Eche George and Dr Chris Nlemoha.

The party had declared that the result submitted by Gulak electoral committee was fake, while Gulak insisted that the result submitted was authentic.

A bus driver left his passengers shocked after allowing his monkey take the wheel. The driver sat back as the monkey steered the packed bus in India.
Footage shows the monkey sit on top of the steering wheel.

Shot on October 1 by a shocked passenger, the driver chuckles as the animal tries to keep its eyes on the road.
The human driver helps by working the peddles and gears — while he takes his hands off the wheel at several points.

Officials said the monkey was a pet belonging to one of the passengers and was comfortable in human company.

Taking a more stern view of the incident, an official said: “Prakash has been taken off duty and a probe has been ordered against him. “Endangering passengers’ lives is not acceptable.”

Gunmen on Wednesday invaded the venue of the Anambra South senatorial primary of the All Progressives Grand Alliance at the Township Stadium, Ekwulobia, in the Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The gunmen had scared away delegates and disrupted the primary.

It was gathered that a certain disgruntled senatorial aspirant mobilised the hoodlums to the venue of the primary, with the intent to disrupt the exercise.
The Anambra State Commissioner of Police, Garba Umar, subsequently led a team of policemen to disperse the thugs.
The Police also released canisters of teargas and fired several gunshots to scare away the hoodlums.

The exercise was temporarily suspended as of the time of filing this report.
The widow of the late Igbo leader, Bianca Ojukwu; businessman, Nicholas Ukachukwu; and the son of a First Republic aviation minister, Ikenna Mbazuluike-Amaechi, are major contenders in the senatorial race on the platform of APGA.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal office, on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 arraigned Gbenga Makanjuola, Deputy Chief of Staff to the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, before Justice Babs O. Kuewumi sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos on an amended 11-count charge bordering on alleged conspiracy, accepting cash payment beyond threshold and money laundering to the tune of N3.5billion ((Three Billion, Five Hundred Million Naira).

Makanjuola is charged alongside Kolawole Shittu, cashier to the Senate President; Robert Chidozie Mbonu, a former Managing Director, Societe Generale Bank of Nigeria, SGBN (who is at large), Melrose General Services Limited and Obiora Amobi, Operation Manager, Melrose General Services Limited.

One of the counts reads: “That you, Gbenga Makanjuola, sometime in December 2016 in Nigeria, within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, did accept cash payment of the sum of $500, 000. 00 (Five Hundred Thousand Dollars Only) from Kolawole Shittu without going through a financial institution and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 1(a) of the Money Laundering Prohibition Act, 2011 (as amended by Act No. 1 of 2012) and punishable under Section 16 (2) (b) of the same Act.”

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against them.
In view of their pleas, the prosecution counsel, Ekene Iheanacho, asked the court for a trial date and also prayed that the defendants be remanded in prison custody.
Iheanacho also told the court that he had received bail applications from the defence counsels on behalf of their clients.

He, however, added that he had responded with a counter-affidavit to the bail applications.
Iheanacho, therefore, urged the court to refuse the bail applications by the defendants.
“My Lord, the defendants were not responding to invitations until we threatened to revoke the administrative bail granted them.
“One of the defendants absconded after granting him an administrative bail. This is what necessitated the amendment of the charges today,” he further said.

However, counsel to the second and fourth defendants, Paul Erokoro, SAN, told the court that he had filed bail applications dated September 26, 2018 on behalf of his clients.
Moving the bail application today, he said
“My Lord, they are full-time staff of the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The second defendant is a lawyer and a former House of Representatives member. My Lord, they cannot jump bail.”

He, therefore, urged the court to grant his clients bail. Also, counsel to the third defendant, Omeoga Chukwu, urged the court to admit his client to bail in the most liberal terms.
“He has been reporting monthly to the EFCC office for about two years since he was granted an administrative bail,” he pleaded
Consequently, Justice Kuewumi remanded the defendants in Ikoyi prison and adjourned till October 9, 2018 for ruling on the bail applications.

The EFCC had submitted a report to President Muhammadu Buhari linking the Senate President and some of his aides to the diversion of the sum of N19bn from the N522.74bn Paris Club refund.
The Federal Government had, in December 2016, approved the sum of N522.74bn to be paid to the 36 states of the federation as part of the reimbursement of the over-deduction on the Paris Club loan from 1995 to 2002.

However, the EFCC had discovered that the loan refunds were illegally diverted through the account of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF, by the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.
Investigation revealed that following receipt of the fund, the NGF, in alleged connivance with Saraki, had remitted huge sums of money to private consultants who eventually laundered about N19bn.

Investigation further revealed that a sum of N3.5bn was allegedly lodged into Melrose General Services’ company account number 0005892453 domiciled in Access Bank from the NGF.

Nigeria singer and vocalist Omawumi tied the knot secretly earlier this year, January 2018. Akinwunmi Ambode, governor of Lagos state, says Babajide Sanwo-Olu, his opponent in the race to secure the ticket of the APC in 2019, is not fit.

Addressing a press conference at government house, Alausa, Ikeja, on Sunday, Ambode said Sanwo-Olu was arrested for fraud in the US.

One person has reportedly lost his life as Policemen who participated in the 2018 Osun state governorship election got involved in an accident.

Some mobile police officers sent on official duty to Osun State, for the Saturday governorship election, were involved in a fatal auto crash while returning to their based.

The Nigeria Police Moblie Force (PMF) officers that was attached to 62 kafanchan Kaduna who where send to official duty on Saturday Osun Governorship Election has involved in a fatal accident on their way back to base five of them has reported sustained injury by coorespondance while the one officer died at the spot.

Five of the officers attached to Division 62 kafanchan, Kaduna State, sustained varying degrees of injuries after the accident, yesterday, while one reportedly died.

It was havest of convictions for the Benin Zonal Office of EFCC, today, September 24, 2018, as 7 persons were convicted and sentenced to various jail term by the Federal High Court sitting in Benin City, Edo State.

One of the convict, Ekoh Noel was arraigned on a one count charge of obtaining by false pretence. He was said to have impersonated and represented himself as Mike Ezuruonye, a popular Nollywood Star on Facebook to defraud his victims. .

Upon his arraignment, the convict pleaded guilty to the charge and was consequently sentenced and convicted by Justice P. I. Ajoku to one year imprisonment.

In a similar vein, the Judge sentenced one Favour Ojefia to six months imprisonment for fraudulently obtaining goods worth N500,000 only from one Imasuen Christian Osahon of Just Cute Ventures. .

The convict who was arraigned on a one count charge, pleaded guilty to the charge and was consequently sentenced to six months imprisonment. .

The same six months is what the court ordered Alex Igbinidu to spend in prison for also defrauding Just Cute Ventures. .

Also convicted by the court is Odiete Jude Erowhow who bagged six months imprisonment for fraudulently obtaining by trick the sum of N426,000 only from one Sunday Ogba. .

Erowhow pleaded guilty to the charge when he was arraigned. However, for the duo of Atiti Anita and Godwin Iuleomen, Justice Ajoku sentenced both to two months imprisonment while Osaikhuimwan Monday, bagged one month imprisonment. The trio were also arraigned on a one count charge of obtaining by false pretence.
