The Sultan made the call when he received the Catholic Bishops of Nigeria in his palace in Sokoto yesterday.

He said:

“Politics is a choice, like religion. Therefore, let’s not fight each other because of defection.

“We must tell ourselves the truth and speak the truth. Everything is not okay in Nigeria. Let’s stop hiding under religion, ethnicity or region. I know we have problems in Nigeria. Let’s not deceive ourselves.

“There is no fight between Christianity and Islam, but maybe disagreement between Muslims and Christians. But we must try and fish out extremists in our midst. Though, you cannot completely fish out bad eggs from the society, we should continue doing our part to ensure a peaceful country.

“We have our problems and challenges. But we should collectively try and overcome them. As leaders, we must try and work for peace. There is no problem in this world that defies solution unless we are not honest. If not, we will overcome the problems.

“We must also educate our followers that despite the challenges, we belong to one God Almighty but choose to worship God in different ways.”

On 2019 general election, he implored politicians to stop using children of the poor to spread violence.

He also spoke against killing of innocent people in the name of religion.

“People have wrong notions of Jihad. You cannot kill people pretending you are fighting for God. You are simply deceiving yourself. Jihad does not entail that. God did not create you to fight for Him,” he added.

The police in Enugu State has commenced full scale investigation into the murder of a young man by his brother who reported claimed he could not bear the cost of treatment anymore.

The sleepy village of Inyi in Igboeze North local Government Area of Enugu state was thrown into mourning recently, as the tragic news of their kinsman who killed his elder brother filtered into the community.

It was gathered that one Raphael Izuchukwu believed to be about 40 years from Ugwuagbo Inyi village in Igboeze North Local Government Area of Enugu state, on that fateful day, killed his elder brother, Chizoba Ogbonna, 46, and buried him.

The Police spokesman in Enugu, Ebere Amarizu who confirmed the story said “the suspect disclosed that he killed his elder brother who had been sick because he could no longer bear the cost of his treatment”.

The police had commenced full scale investigation into the murder and the suspect was said to be helping the police operatives in their investigations.

A newlywed bride was devastated to find her husband dead in their honeymoon suite just hours after they got married. Danny Emsley, 37, could not stop smiling as he posed for wedding photographs with his new wife Clare, 35, on August 17.

They got married at an upmarket spa hotel in Linton, near Wetherby, West Yorkshire where they celebrated with 80 relatives and close friends. Mr Emsley went to bed at 11.30pm, while his wife stayed downstairs to enjoy the party. She went to check on him an hour later and saw he was fine - so she stayed for another hour. But when she finally went to bed at 1.30am she was devastated to find him dead.



She wrote on Facebook in a heart-wrenching post:

'Friday was the best day of my life, where I got to marry the best, most bluntly honest, funniest, kindest and most loving man I've ever met. 'We had a perfect day full of family, friends, love and laughter - we couldn't have asked for a better day.

'The magic ran out at the end of the night and my beautiful Danny was cruelly ripped from my life. 'There is a hole in my heart that can never be filled. I just don't know how I'll ever cope without you my fabulous husband.' Friends say Mr Emsley was in good health with no reported health conditions. His death at the Woodhall Spa hotel in West Yorkshire is not being treated as suspicious.

The happy couple are pictured kissing at another wedding Emergency services were scrambled to the hotel in a bid to save the groom, but it was too late. A friend of the couple told The Sun: 'She screamed and ran out of the room calling for help.

The door closed behind her leaving her locked out. 'Friends and relatives came to her aid. They had to smash the door of the room down. They called 999 and tried CPR but it was too late.' Mr Emsley's funeral will take place on September 14.

A couple who met in secondary school got married this past weekend, more than a decade after they first met, and theirs is quite an interesting and unique love story.


The groom, Udeh Vincent Chukwunonso, revealed that he met his bride in secondary school when her elder sister handed her over to him, asking him to be her school father and watch over her.


He fulfilled the promise he made to watch over his school daughter until he graduated. They remained friends after they graduated and got married on Saturday, September 1, 2018.
Sharing photos of them as kids in secondary school and as adults getting married, the groom wrote:

A Nigerian man, has been arrested by the Thailand Police Force for allegedly sneaking across the border to live in Sa Kaew’s Aranyaprathet district, Thailand.


Acording to chief Pol Col Benjapol Rodsawat of the Sa Kaew command, the man identified as Dominic Ifechokwu Anigo, 28, was arrested in Aranyaprathet on Sunday evening, September 2.


He was nabbed in front of Wang Pla Tong Market and his passport showed no visa for entry.

Ahead of the party's convention, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has met with Governor Fayose.



Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential aspirant, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar has asked for the support of Ekiti State delegates in the coming national convention of the party after meeting with Governor Ayodele Fayose.


During the visit, Governor Fayose called for unity of the members of the party, saying Alhaji Atiku Abubakar had
“the shoulder, you have the height, you have the wherewithal. Our prayer is that it will not be an effort in futility.”
Charging the party on unity, Fayose noted that “the greatest problem PDP may have is if we don’t go to that election as brothers and sisters.”


He said: “The task before the PDP at this time is not about who has been in the party before and who is just joining. It is about rescuing Nigeria and its people from the calamity of this Buhari’s government.”
While wishing Atiku well, the governor said: “come October 6th, this journey will fall in wonderful places for you.”


Speaking earlier, Atiku Abubakar lamented that the country had allegedly sunk into more corruption in the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, and also claimed that even during the civil war, Nigeria had not been as insecure as the country was in this dispensation.
He told the delegates that “I have come to appeal to you to support me in our party’s convention. I have the programme that will best develop this country.


I wish to appeal for your individual and collective support.”
Addressing Fayose, he described his as “brutally frank”, saying “I like the way you do things. You’re brutally frank. You say your mind, it’s a very very rare quality. So, I commend for who you are. We will stand by you and the party in Ekiti until you retrieve your stolen mandate.”


The former vice president reiterated that allegations of corruption were false, saying he had always called that “if you have any evidence of corruption against Atiku, please come forward. But nobody has been able to come forward.”
While welcoming Atiku, chairman of the PDP in Ekiti State, Chief Gboyega Oguntuwase, said “we have an interest within this your project and by the grace of God, we want this your project to succeed. Nigeria shall laugh, Ekiti shall laugh.”


Oguntuwase said “Atiku is the option to a ‘lifeless president’. He’s not dead, but he is not somebody that can be counted to lead Nigeria to the promised land.”

President Buhari has declined assent to the electoral act amendment bill, 2018. The senior special assistant to the president on electoral matters (senate), Ita Enang, disclosed this in a statement released today September 3rd.

Enang said the president’s decision had been communicated to the leadership of the national assembly via a letter.

“His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, has by communication dated August 30, 2018, to the Senate and the House of Representatives declined Assent to the Electoral (Amendment) Bill, 2018. I pray for leave, that in view of public interest, the fact of the National Assembly vacation, the imperative to avoid speculation and misinformation, that I give just a few of the rationale by Mr. President.

“Mr. President is declining assent to the Electoral Amendment Bill due to some drafting issues that remain unaddressed following the prior revisions to the Bill. Mr. President invites the Senate and House of Representatives to address these issues as quickly as possible so that he may grant President Assent to the Electoral Amendment Bill.

A few of the outstanding issues are:
There is a cross referencing error in the proposed amendment to Section 18 of the Bill. The appropriate amendment is to substitute the existing sub-section (2) with the proposed subsection (1A), while the proposed sub-section (1B) is the new sub-section (2A)’

The proposed amendment to include a new Section 87 (14) which stipulates a specific period within which political party primaries are required to be held has the unintended consequence of leaving INEC with only 9 days to collate and compile lists of candidates and political parties as well manage the primaries of 91 political parties for the various elections.
This is because the Electoral Amendment Bill does not amend sections 31, 34 and 85 which stipulates times for the submission of lists of candidates, publication of lists of candidates and notice of convention, congresses for nominating candidates for elections.”

President Buhari had initially declined assent to the bill arging that the bill if passed into law, would usurp the constitutional powers of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to decide on election matters, including fixing dates and the order they would go.

Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer, Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, has declared that he is not ready to die anytime soon, not even in the next five years.
He made this interesting revelation a few days ago during the church’s ministers’ conference held at the Redemption Camp, Mowe, Ogun State.




While addressing his ministers, the highly revered clergyman hinted that God has promised to show him his successor at least five years before he dies. And since his successor is yet to be revealed to him by God, it means he still has more than five years to live.


According to him, “Elijah knew before Elisha knew that he would succeed him, Moses also knew that Joshua would succeed him and likewise Eli knew before Samuel and not the other way round and therefore, God will tell me first before any other person about who will become my successor as a general overseer.


“So, those of you who are carrying rumour of who would be my successor or claiming to be the one that God had chosen should desist from such act as God had not shown me anybody yet.
“Some even said I would hand over to Bishop David Oyedepo, some said to Pastor Joe Olaiya because the two are very close to me that they do minister during our major events such as the conventions, Holy Ghost congresses and yet another quarter said one of my sons is the one succeeding me.


“But I would advise you to always check sources of your information before believing such information and also to focus on whatever you are doing rather than spreading rumour.
So, let me say it loud and clear again that God has not told me who my successor is.


What God had told me several years ago was that He would tell me who my successor would be at least five years before I would be called home and as at now, He had not told me anything as regards that, which means He is not ready to call me home in the next five years.”


He therefore added that “I pity my eventual successor because I know how many hours I pray a day and I can count how many days I eat in a year too. So, whoever that will take over from me, such person will have to surpass me and God will have mercy on the person.”

All is not well in the camp of All Progressives Congress Governor-elect, Kayode Fayemi as elders of the party have begged a former governor to withdraw a suit against him.

The Ekiti State All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders’ Forum on Friday appealed to former Gov. Segun Oni to withdraw the suit challenging the eligibility of the governor-elect, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, for the July 14 governorship election.



The News Agency of Nigeria, (NAN) reports that the APC elders came out with the position at the end of a marathon meeting held in Igbara Odo, in Ekiti South West Local Government Area of the state.
The meeting which was presided over by its Chairman, Chief George Akosile asked Oni to withdraw the case against the governor-elect in the interest of the party.

According to a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting , the APC elders said the withdrawal of the case by Oni and his group will facilitate an out-of-court settlement.
In the communiqué signed by Akosile and the Forum’s Secretary, Chief Abiodun Ajayi, the APC elders resolved to send a five-man delegation to Oni with a letter appealing for the withdrawal of the case.

NAN reports that the Ekiti APC Elders’ Forum also resolved to send a memo to Fayemi to reconcile with the aggrieved Segun Oni’s group with a view to withdrawing the case from court and their inclusion in the forthcoming administration.
” From our findings, the Elders’ Forum is aware that the case is still pending in the Federal High Court, Abuja

“We hereby wish to appeal to Chief Segun Oni and his group to withdraw the case from the Federal High Court, Abuja as to facilitate an out-of-court settlement in the interest of the APC Family in Ekiti State, in particular and Nigeria in general.”

NAN recalls that a group loyal to the former governor approached the court in Abuja, after the APC primary, urging it to nullify Fayemi’s candidacy on grounds that he (Fayemi) did not properly resign from his position as Minister of Mines and Steel Development 30 days before the APC primary, as dictated by the law.

Fayemi had won the APC governorship primary held on May 12 in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, by polling a total of 941 votes, beating Segun Oni, who scored 481 votes to the second place and 31 other aspirants
The Oni group also dragged Fayemi to court on grounds that he was indicted by Ekiti State Judicial Commission of Inquiry set up by Governor Ayo Fayose and handed a 10-year ban from holding public office.

Oni, as the Claimant/Applicant filed the suit before a Federal High Court, Abuja presided over by Justice Nnamdi Dimgba. The suit is marked FHC/ABJ/CS/663/18.
Joined as Defendants/Respondents in the case are Dr. Fayemi, APC and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Justice Dimgba on 20th August issued an ex parte order for substituted service on the defendants.

NAN reports that Segun Oni’s supporters said the court case was triggered by alleged non-inclusiveness, ostracisation, marginalisation and demonstration of open hatred for them by Fayemi’s supporters.

A man was electrocuted today in Katsina State while attempting to steal transformer parts.

The body of the young man was found near a transformer at Makera Housing estate located along Daura Road in the early hours of Thursday, August 30th.

The deceased was wearing electric gloves and found with some electrician's gadgets. He is suspected to have been electrocuted while trying to steal some of the transformer parts when power was restored in the area around 3am.

Men of the Katsina State Police Command have taken the corpse for further investigation.

According to reports, the students of University of Limpopo, Polokwane Area, South Africa, walked out of ‘challenging’ philosophy exam
According to the spokesperson for the university, Johannes Selepe, they still investigating whether the video is genuine or not.

“We will give official comment once we establish whether the video is genuine or not,” he told Bosveld Review.

Olusola Akindele, 42, and Ayodele Bamiduro, 42, of the Lion of Judah Church of Christ, 13, Robiyan Avenue, Robiyan, near Ijoko, were arrested by men of the Ogun State Police Command following an investigation after the woman's remains was found.

According to Crimepuzzle, the victim a 40-year-old woman identified as Iya Aanu, had on July 30, 2018, visited Olusola, who she had been dating for two years, in his Assess Road residence at Mosefejo. They had sex and as the woman was relaxing afterwards, her lover smashed her head with a heavy piece of wood and dragged her to a room within the apartment. She struggled but eventually lost the battle.

After she gave up the struggle, Olusola dragged her lifeless body to the bathroom and severed her head and hands, and later dumped her remains in an uncompleted building behind his residence. He then took the severed head and hands to his accomplice's church, the Lion of Judah Church of Christ on 13, Robiyan Avenue, where he buried the body parts.

Disclosing how the suspects were arrested, CP Iliyasu said at a press conference held today at the scene of the crime at Mosefejo that on August 10, 2018, a complaint was lodged at the Agbado Police Divisional Headquarters by the Baale of Igbore Robiyan. The Baale informed the police that a headless, decomposing body of a woman was found in an uncompleted building within the community.

Upon receiving the report, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of Agbado, CSP Olatunji Omonijo, was asked to investigate and unravel the mystery behind the killing. Investigation led them to the suspects who have reportedly confessed to the crime.
The CP narrated:

On interrogation, Olusola Akindele, who claimed to be a prophet in a church, confessed that the victim was his woman friend, who he simply identified as Iya Aanu. He stated further that they had been dating and hibernating for two years. On the fateful day, the deceased came to visit him, as usual, and after they made love, and the woman was relaxing, the so-called prophet surreptitiously brought out a very big clog that looked like a pestle with which he smashed the woman's head.

He added:
The severed head and hands of the victim were buried at the back of Lion of Judah Church of Christ, situated in another area within this vicinity at 13, Robiyan Avenue, belonging to Ayodele Bamiduro
The CP advised the public to be careful whom they associate with and always notify at least one person about their whereabouts when leaving the house to ensure their security and safety.

The Igbo Canadian Community Association (ICCA/Umunna) has described the action of the Federal Government in arresting, detaining, torturing, arraignment and incarceration of 114 Igbo women members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in Imo State as a deliberate affront on Ndigbo and a recipe for anarchy.



In a statement issued in Toronto, Canada, the President of the socio-cultural and political group, Chief Ugochukwu Okoro, through the Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mr. Ahaoma Kanu, said said “ICCA/Umunna wants to sound a warning that with the gross show of abhorrent and execrate behavior in which President Muhammadu Buhari’s led Federal Government responds to issues involving Ndigbo is becoming too brutal for our endurance and if not stemmed at this moment, may pave the way for anarchy.

The latest onslaught on Ndigbo by the FG on our grandmothers, mothers, wives and daughters, 114 of who were serially tortured with chemical agents and remanded in prison for exercising their constitutional rights to exercise their freedom of expression is one brutality too many.

Ndigbo have always engaged in dialogue and advised our young people to respect the rule of law but when there is an obvious selective law enforcement clothed in discrimination with an objective to bear down on a people by pushing them to the wall, the reaction, which history bears witness to, is always a situation that does nobody any good.



We condemn in the strongest of words the dehumanizing treatment meted out to our women whose ages ranged from 72 to 18 years by members of the Nigeria Police Force who used over 100 tear gas canisters on a group of women going on a peaceful protest that in no way caused any breach of peace or break down of law and order.

The Police forcefully arrested them, tore their clothes and shot tear gas canisters directly on the faces of aged women who were asking for the whereabouts of their leader and our son, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

On April 18, 2018, armed men accompanied by a member of the legislature alleged to be in the camp of President Buhari stormed the Senate and stole the mace and also, early this month, members of the Directorate for State Security (DSS) laid siege at the National Assembly in a clear attempted hijack of the democratic process in the country. These actions, said to be perpetuated with the knowledge of the presidency and his party, were not met with the ferocity with which Igbo women on a peaceful protest was tackled which is evident of President Buhari running an apartheid system of governance in issues concerning people of the South East.

People from other parts of the country are allowed to exercise their right to protest and peaceful assembly but when any person from the South East gathers to ask for legitimate issues of concern, the government unleashes law enforcement on them. This has made bare the agenda President Buhari had in orchestrating the proscription of IPOB to serve as a cover with which to continuously degrade, dehumanize and imprison the Igbo nation.

Lest the FG forget, on December 17, 2010, the action of a police officer who slapped a young food vendor in Tunisia led the victim to undertake an action that became a catalyst for what later became known as the Arab Spring. President Buhari should know that actions such as using chemical agents on defenseless women, initiating torture and abusing their human rights can equally lead to the Bouazizi-effect in the South East.

Let this hostility towards Ndigbo by this government STOP.
The ICCA/Umunna hereby demand the immediate and unconditional release of the 114 IPOB women members remanded in prison custody on the orders of Magistrate S.K. Kadurumba.
