Agreed, in US they do that as well.The telecomm providers are very powerful, sometimes trying to influence 3gpp.

HSPA is 3gpp release 7 and it based on GERAN and UTRAN, 3gpp even defined it as GSM/EDGE technology.

LTE at release 10 was not initially coined even a 4G technology as it did not command the speed specifications of 4G. LTE Advance is the true 4G technology, but it looks like the telecomm providers are winning and 3gpp are starting to dummy things down and accepting LTE as 4G.

HSPA+ is not 4G, stop posting telecomm marketing giggles from google.

HSPA+ is actually a 3G technology and not anywhere close to 4G.

If you want to learn about telecommunication evolutions, pay a visit to 3gpp website. Do not believe anything the telecomm provide tell you or put on their fosters or posted online or even the 4G sign on your phone, they are all marketing nonsense.

There is nothing like that, unless you are referring to HSDPA or HSPA+ which are rated 3.5G.
