Birth Story

This pregnancy was one big ass journey, from unexpected pregnancy, really bad MS, although unlike the first one,I could still eat.
I started expecting labour from the 37th week as my 1st child came at 38 weeks, and when it didn't come till exactly 41 weeks, it was a hell of a ride .
Hubby came down with typhoid and then chicken pox when I was 38/39 weeks and on the day pregnancy was 40 weeks, I got a membrane sweep, and saw that I caught the chicken pox, you cannot imagine how uncomfortable and scary it was, baby is even still on precautionary medicine that was bought for a whopping sum of 33,500!!!...story for another day sha. Was admitted for 3 days cos the pox got a bit complicated.
So, exactly 41 weeks, I noticed the contractions I had been feeling for weeks was a bit more painful and more regular, like 4 in 10 minutes, so off to the hospital with MIL , we gisted all the way to the hospital, and she stayed a bit, and then left to pick my toddler from school, then contractions just stopped, I was 4 cm, they kept observing till around 7:30 and then they decided to argument, I begged for the lowest dose of pitocin as all the stories I had been hearing didn't seem like what I wanted to go through, an hour later , nothing yet, hubby was around by now, then the nurse came to increase the dose , about 15 mins later , my hubby went to get us door and then I felt a "click" and the next thing I was screaming nonstop for 4 hours, . The nurse burst the water and swept membrane, baby had pooed, from there on, I got to heaven and back, I begged for CS cos I was scared of baby aspirating meconium, they went to get the anesthesiologist, but i delivered before there came sha.
So, I was checked again, they saw baby's head and my cervix had torn, toh, they put in the drip again and I had to push like that cos I could just bleed fatally, so after some pushes, my princess came forth, oyinbo pepe like this, she cried, then real work started ads cervix had to be stitched, I was put under, I woke up ever weak and had to feed an hungry baby, dunno how I got through that night, but God is mighty.
So, anyways, introducing Adunoluwa Deborah.
Naming was yesterday, so rice don finish o....hehehehe

A second time mother wishing the second pregnancy will be shorter than first but unfortunately reached 41+2 and had to be admitted for induction on Thursday 8th November. I was getting weary but not fearful as 42 weeks is the highest but on getting to hospital, i started reading up on induction....the following morning around past 4 am doctors gave me half tablet of one drug like that under my tongue. I started pressing my phone with the mind that today is today, @ past 7am i started rounding up chats to switch off my phone as contraction was becoming strong. I started off enduring and enduring but @ some points I voiced out with Yeh! ....started praying....doctors went to freshen up in preparation for ward round so nobody to check me except one student doctor on ground who didn't just care. Later they started coming in one after the other...doctors didn't expect it to be so quick from what i overheard so i requested for pain reliever but they were just making preparation to buy/pay. I begged to be checked around 9am & i was 7cm...(for my mind...splendid...the pains was over bearing) the doctor on hearing 7cm said no need for pain reliever again.... I intensified gentle prayers and screams when contracting hits too.... Not too long i heard 8cm...& doctors kept saying madam stop shouting... don't waste your energy....use your mouth to breath. I tried the mouth tehnique .... It worked .....@ least no noise...when the contraction climax it will surely come down but not easy .... even with the mouth you can hear....ha...ha...ha.. Before you know it I would have switched to screaming.... (as they were preparing to break waters nah so them carry student doctor to come try it....he tried again and again but didn't get it .... And i was scared make this guy no cut the wrong thing... Me sef no farabale for the guy to do practical....that's how the female doctor checking me broke the waters and told him .... He will do another person). I was 9cm dilated in few more mins and one doctor was like in 30mins or an hour everything will be settled.... In no time I was pushing.... it was a nurse with me....doctors were so busy on one particular woman... No time to move me into delivery room.... The nurse will say push..... And @ the 4th attempt baby came out screaming i felt relieved @ 9:49am on 9th November .... Doctors didn't believe it will be that fast as they left me with one nurse and student nurse & like 5 of the doctors inside delivery room with one woman.... and fast forward they gave me oxytocin injection to push out the placenta.... Nah one student nurse again.....she tried and tried & nothing happened so the nurse that took my delivery came to press the tommy and the placenta came out .....wow glory!.... She now said ..there is little laceration....tear....
Doctors came around to stitch it up and it took some mins as the guy too they learn and convinced his senior that he can do it.... The senior senior ones are just coming in and some are in theatre room...
I give God all the glory as it has ended in praise... Didn't so believe I did it again with the help of God. But sincerely/seriously....nah serious throwing away of boots....

Please I need your advise. Am very worried.
My LMP was sept 8.

I did scan last Thursday and the result reads: gestational sac with no fetal pole seen . GA 5weeks, 5days against 7week + I was calculating due to my LMP.

I did a repeat scan in another ultrasound centre yesterday morning and the result reads: Gestational sac with no fetal pole seen. GA 4 week.

Have cried and cried and have a very terrible headache.
I really dont know what's wrong. I should be 8weeks with my calculation.
Why the backdate?

No cramp, no bleeding. The sonographer advised I come for a repeat scan next week.
Can I survive this heartache till next week

Any doctor here, please help me

Hello ma’am. Please request for a transvaginal ultrasound scan for your repeat scan nextweek as it is more accurate compared to a pelvic USS. I’d also advice you try another diagnostic center for this repeat scan. Please also try and see your doctor, show him the results and request for a blood test to check your HCG levels. I join my faith with yours. *hugs*

At 41w+3days schedule for induction on getting to d hospital I met a new doctor on duty I tried explaining my situation to her but she said she is aware so I kept my cool. The induction start at 12am with a tablet inserted at about few minutes I started feeling mild contractions on and off but fibroid make it difficult for me to lay down I couldn't sleep all through d night in d morning I was 1cm dilated d second tab was inserted and I started feeling stronger contractions, I was checked after some hours by my friend doc but I am still 1cm dilated and I was told that second tablet didn't dissolve d doc advice I do cs because knew my history b4 I got pregnant to avoid any complications so I called d new doc on duty and explain my situation she was shocked that I should av go for elcs I told her to go ahead but said d consultant that does cs is unavailable so she continued d induction with drip I was in so much pain n d fibroid was bulging below my tummy and slowing down dilation d doc came to check n told me she will do something really painful but it will help dilate fast I prepared my mind after that she send me to d delivery room and d real deal started d drip was doubled and I contractions was coming often. I was checked after an hour and I was told am 8cm dilated. After 40 minutes I was fully dilated and d midwife could feel d baby's head then she said I should push at the next contraction but d contractions were not coming strong again because of d fibroid. I started begging for cs cos I was exhausted and I av no strength to push d doc was praying and encourage me to be strong and believe that I will give birth safely. After some minutes I was dozing off doc started panicking telling not to give up then I feel a strong contraction I pushed twice and my beautiful princess came out she did not cry loudly but I could see she is alive, d happiness I feel is so much that I didn't feel pain when I was been switched up. Depression want to set in after one week of given birth thanks to d mamas that advice me am very grateful and all mamas here God bless u all. I pray for GTC mamas dat d Lord that did it for me will surprise u too. Thank God it ended in praise.

I went for a 221g interview today in Lagos embassy was so empty.in all abt 9 people inside.i met d wrong vo .note she was screaming y my bill I paid 8600 that is low that the discount hospital gave me is too much .my hubby explained talked and talked even me.she was just screaming if is nig hospital will they give such.i told her d quotation hospital gave I paid all .she now said she can see dat but her issue is the discount is much and I still want to use d hospital again WHMC I now told her if d zero balance discount she is seeing is d issue I will change hospital.she now said the least am meant to pay is 15k dollars imgaine.biko see me see wahala dat on that note she won't approve our visa.i .can reapply .I have just 1month left.is so painful.that usa hospital once they see nig people with cash they will quote anything just to collect cash from them

Sorry about your ordeal. To be honest, I think these hospitals should provide a document stating that discounts are usually given to cash paying patients. From your interview, you did nothing wrong. You paid your bills and declared your intentions at your previous interview.
I’m yet to do drop box because I used doctores in 2016 and the itemized bill I received showed a huge discount. I’m really concerned.
If you really want this, you can re-apply.
You can monitor the website to see if you’ll find another date before your EDD.

BIRTH STORY

It all started on 24th of September at about 11:00pm. i was preparing for my next paper because i was writing exams which ended on 25th September before i started having regular contractions. The contraction was strong and i was feeling mild pain at my lower back. i was confusing it for braxton hick contractions but when the pain was continuous, it dawned on me that i was in labour and my next paper was 8:00 am the next morning so i didn't bother going to the hospital in other not to miss my exams and since the pain was mild, i was able to read that night.

While in the exam hall the next day, i was timing the contractions; i took permission to use the rest room and when i checked my pant, i saw show. I had to leave the exam hall ten minutes to the end of the paper because i usually exhaust the time assigned for a paper. Before i left the department for the hospital, i went to the HOD's office to explain to him that i was in labour because there was another paper by 2:00pm but he was not in his office, i went to the office of the lecturer in charge of the next exam, he was also not on seat so i had to explain to a coursemate to convey my message to the course rep who was still in the exam hall

When i got to the hospital, i explained to the nurses that i was in labour and they sent for my file immediately. All the while, i was really calm; you would hardly know i was in labour. While they were calling the labour ward to inform them that a patient was coming, i ruptured my membrane and i was wheeled immediately to the labour ward. I was checked at the labour ward and to my greatest surprise i was already 10cm dilated. I shouted when the doctor said i was fully dilated.
Full dilation without pain! just discomfort

I was taken to the delivery room immediately and was told to push at the next contraction. I pushed twice and my princess said hello to the world at 11:57am; while her head was out, they noticed cord was on her neck, they adjusted it and brought her out but she did not cry maybe due to the cord on her neck and after series of things done by the matron, she cried. she weighed 3.4kg and i didn't have tear.

I thank God for a supernatural delivery because it was indeed a supernatural delivery. My pregnancy was a walk in the park and labour was painless.

After the whole delivery process was over, i called my course rep and some course mates to inform them that i had put to bed and that i can write the next paper if they can plead on my behalf that the question be brought to the hospital. My HOD agreed and said my husband should come to school to pick the person that will supervise me. That was how i wrote my last paper in the labour ward.

Note: I took a very big risk because i didn't want to miss any exams in other not to spend more than 18 months assigned for the programme at the detriment of my health. If i had spent the remaining ten minutes in the exam hall, i would gave birth on the way and only God knows what would have happen to me and my baby. Because i was not feeling so much pain, i thought i was just 2cm dilated not knowing labour was really progressing.
I left school (University of Ibadan) at 11:23am and gave birth at 11:57am at UCH. A very big risk i took. I just thank God UI is closer to UCH

My advise is that once you know labour has established, head to the hospital immediately. Because you are not feeling so much pain doesn't mean dilation is not taking place. You just might be having a painless labour.

Once again, i thank God for a safe delivery and i pray all GTC mum experience this wonderful feeling. Baby dust to you all

I have been having this pain in my eyes.. Like sensitive to light.. It hurts.. Is it normal..Is it safe for me to hold my urine. I get tired sometimes to get up to go pee.. It's too frequent. After I pee I feel a pressure there.. Am 13weeks..

Hello teamie!!! Please it’s not safe to hold urine, it can lead to a urinary tract infection (UTI). I know it can be uncomfortable to pee frequently. Please use the loo whenever you have the urge.
