I think you'll need to show sufficient funds in your account that you can cater for your kids without using government funds or enrolling them in public schools which is free. You can get admission for your children in a private school and pay their fees then your children will have to have their own student visa application. Bear in mind that private schools are very expensive! I wish you the best. kakamsi: Good day guys, please i just stumble upon this write up in google. i want to study in Ireland in Dublin Institute of technology [DIT] pre-master in computing and afterwards Msc. in computing. i have children and i intend to go with them but after reading this, it got me worried on how to go about it. please has anyone been in similar situation before? how do i go about this, your contribution is highly appreciated.
International students with children / family reunification
Can I bring my husband / wife / civil partner / children to Ireland while I study?
In general, non-EEA students have no rights to family reunification. Some exceptions to this policy are outlined below.
Partners/spouses and children will have to make their own visa applications as they cannot advance their application for permission to enter or reside in Ireland on the basis of their relationship to a registered non-EEA student.
Students will not be allowed to be joined by children except those born during their stay.
What are the exceptions to the policies outlined above?
The Irish Naturalisation and Immigration Authority (INIS) may consider exemptions from the policy of no Family Reunification where:
The student is pursuing PhD studies (Level 10 on the National Framework of Qualifications) and will be required to complete their doctorate within 4 years; or The student is a participant in an academic programme agreed between the Irish State and another State whereby the student and dependents are sufficiently funded for all expenses in Ireland; or The student can demonstrate that they have sufficient funds on a yearly basis to support themselves and their family without engaging in employment and without recourse to public funds, e.g. by enrolling a child in a private, fee-paying school. (Plans for an immigration levy to recover the costs of publicly-funded education if children are accompanying a parent have been proposed. However, these are yet to be introduced); or The child is on a short visit to their parent(s) who can prove that the child will return to their home county at the end of their visit. For further details, see Section G of the INIS guide New Immigration Regime for Full Time Non-EEA Students
The Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB) has advised that student parents accompanied by children (of whatever age) not authorised to enter Ireland will be stopped at the port of entry in Ireland and refused permission to land.
How does this relate to immigration registration?
First time students from outside the EEA presenting for registration with the GNIB are asked to confirm that they are neither accompanied by children nor do they intend to have their children join them later on - unless covered by specific arrangements as indicated above.
If I have a child in Ireland during my studies, what will be his/her status?
Children born in Ireland are not automatically entitled to Irish citizenship unless they have an Irish or British parent. In all other cases, entitlement to citizenship is based on proving a firm link to Ireland through a parent being legally resident for at least 3 of the 4 years prior to the birth and documented as such by the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB). » More |

Please tell your sister to use the visa for its purpose "Vacation" as stated during the interview. After that, she can use it for birthing. In the event that she is unable to use the visa and it expires, she will not have an issue renewing it in the future. Please do the right thing. Harisbabe: I knw d intent letter is no longer relevant but still want to clarify best way out of dis situation. My sis got her visa in 2014 while schooling in uk and single but was not able to use it before she left uk and wen she came back in 2015, there was no time to go due to settleing back @ work. She got married, is pregnant nd d visa will expire dis august. She is due in july.
1. Can she use it for birthing? Considering she was not pregnant wen she got it
2. Or just do visiting cos she tinks not even usin it at all can jeopardise d renewal. |

Please use the visa for its purpose "Vacation". After all, that was what you said at the interview. Afterwards you can travel and give birth. There's no need saying "Favour will find me", when you "KNOW" you're about to do something wrong. Save yourself the stress. MsPapi: Thank you @twoods @justwise @mimimum @austine2020 .
But what are my chances if I go along with cash and all possible evidence? I am just looking for a way out to enable me have my baby there. I can't travel now and return again in june. If I go earlier than I should and I am allowed in based on a vacation only, can I just request for an extension with a doctors report or something? Or if my passport is stamped with 6 months validity, can I just stay since I will have enough time and then i can show all my receipts when leaving?
OMG, I have erred and I really regret this.
It is well sha. Favour will find me. |

Please use the visa for vacation/tourism as stated during your interview, before you travel for childbirth. sofunmikamgbo: Good Morning Everyone, I discovered this thread this year and the info here has truly been helpful. I have a B1/B2 tourist visa which was issued Sept 2016 but i couldn't travel due to work-related issues, my PoE was NY. Got pregnant in December and thinking of giving birth there. A friend of mine recommended Oakbend, Dr F. @justwise, i will send a letter of intent later in the year just to let them know about change of PoE (hope i am on the right track) @Debby, can i pm you please for more details on Oakbend and Dr. Z? |

Please I'm trying to understand your ordeal. Since you said you traveled in October for vacation as stated during your interview, I don't think she will have an issue if she travels again for childbirth in February. Did your wife stay back after the vacation to have the baby? If the answer is "yes", then she may have issues during visa renewal. FabioRomani: My wife and I were issued a b1/b2 visa in May 2016. However my wife discovered that she was some weeks pregnant (about 2 or 3 weeks, not too sure) after the visa had been issued. She honestly didn't know she was pregnant during the interview because she was asked if she was pregnant and she said no.
We travelled to the U.S for vacation in October last year which was the original reason why we applied for the visa. We later decided to have our baby in the U.S since we can afford it.
While at the port of entry, she was asked about her EDD by the CBP officer. She told the officer the truth that her EDD is in February this year, and that she did not know she was pregnant during the visa interview.
If you do the calculation, you will discover that it's exactly 9 months from when the visa was issued. If she had known she was pregnant, she would have disclosed it during the visa interview because we know that V.Os usually find out when people are lieing.
However, while at the POE, the CBP officer said that she lied during her interview because her expected delivery date is in february hence she was already pregnant during the interview. He was so mean and used so many harsh words. He kept saying that she lied. She was later taken to the immigration unit for some further questioning and eventually they allowed her to enter the U.S.
I am unhappy because the CBP officer said she lied; it's not everyone that tell lies.
But we are worried that this incident may affect her while renewing her visa, because he kept saying that she lied
Please advice if it can affect her visa renewal, because she honestly didn't know she was pregnant during the interview.
Please I need urgent response.
Regards. |

When asked " why are you going to the U.S" you should have said childbirth, after all in your post you said you already had your letter of correspondence and other documents. Use the visa for the purpose of which it was obtained which is "Visiting". Afterwards you can use it for Childbirth. Using the visiting visa for childbirth will be seen as misrepresentation and will affect future applications. From previous posts, letter of change of intent no longer works. This is my opinion. TimcyWhyte: Hello Everyone. Happy new year. Please this is my first time in this forum. Am in a state of dilemma now and please need your urgent response and honest advice. First of all, my hubby and I applied for B1/B2 visiting visa for the Xmas holiday for the first time but something came up and we couldn't travel again in December for the Xmas.though I was pregnant during the interview but was not even asked any question apart from where I am working of which I told them. But they asked my hubby most of the questions but didn't ask if I was preggy. Though had my letter of correspondence with me and all other documents incase they asked if I was preggy so that I can show them but they didn't even check our document. And now we planning to use it to go for the Easter holidays in April and also to birth that same period since I will be due in may this year. Please my fear now is do I need to send a mail to the embassy as regards letter of Change of intent? Secondly if I send the mail, will they reply me back and if they do, what is there response gonna look like for those that have done this before. Will they ban one after receiving the letter of change of intent? Or better still I just travel like that then I will declare at the POE that am preggy and coming for vacation and birthing. But will this affect me later on when am doing Dropbox later on. But after this trip we intend to still travel more within the two years they have given us before it expires. Please kindly help a sister in confusing state right now cos my head is really banging. I will be really grateful. Await your advice.Thank you |

You'll continue to use the same Pediatrician. I don't see any reason why you should use another after you're discharged TOKNOW: Pls house is it compulsory that after discharge from hospital, one must still use another pediatrician after using the compulsory hospital pediatrician for 3 days. |

Hello mamas and papas! How is everyone doing? It is time for me to give back. I already shared my Poe experience a couple of months ago. I used hospital of providence in El Paso through doctores. Fees are pretty much the same as quoted on their website. It was a wonderful experience for me. Delivery room was too fine, felt like I was in a luxurious hotel room I was in El Paso for about 14 weeks. I stayed at Extended stay America. Cost- $2600 Hospital bill- $2700 for vaginal delivery Obgyn- $ 2500 Ultrasound can- $200 Hearing test- $267 Pathology for baby- $190 Pathology for me- $90 Circumcision- $185 Transportation- I used uber, very convenient and cheap compared to regular cabs. Since Naira denominated cards are now restricted for use abroad, you can link your dollar card. Pediatrician- $250, then subsequent visit $70 My mum joined me a month after I arrived El Paso, thank God for her life. My mother in law also came to El Paso hehehehe... Lucky me. Birth certificate was ready after 4 working days, consent form was notarized at US embassy in Abuja. Hubby mailed it through DHL, received it after 2 working days. U.S. Passport- $165 for expedited fee, it took 1 working day. I had the passport 3 weeks before I was due to travel home, I didn't want any stories with Naija visa or passport Naija visa- $385, took 3 working days. Infant ticket- $380, I also paid for bassinet seat for $35 per route i.e hou- fra, then fra-Naija Lufthansa gave me a lot of headache concerning this infant ticket, after paying for the ticket I thought everything was ok only for me to go to the airport to make enquiries requiring excess luggage and I was told my baby didn't have a ticket. I immediately called their customer service and they said it was rectified and that the ticket was issue and sent to my mail box. When we got to Houston on our way home, I tried to get a boarding pass for myself, my mum and my baby. Only for me to receive the shock of my life that my baby doesn't have a ticket. I almost shouted the airport down. Unfortunately my phone got bad and I couldn't show the infant ticket I had to the man at the check in counter. I asked him to call Lufthansa that there was no way I could pay for a bassinet seat without having an infant ticket. He told me he doesn't call airline customer services for passengers can you imagine? This is a staff for Lufthansa o. I was so pained. Told me that we will not fly that my baby doesn't have a ticket. Somehow I remembered the confirmation number for my baby's ticket because it was similar to mine. He still said he couldn't find it on his system. That I should look for a pay phone and call Lufthansa. At this point I was really pissed. He then had the nerve to ask why I was shouting at him when he was trying to help. Help how? When he blatantly refused to call to find out what was going on. I walked out and my mum was already panicking. Our phones were not working. I eventually found a pay phone and then the announcement was made that boarding was about to start. I was able to speak to a customer care agent and I poured out my frustration on the poor woman. This thing pained me because I was told in confidence that my bs bay's ticket had been issued and now I was almost stuck in Houston. The lady said my baby has a ticket, I screamed at her that why is the man at the counter telling me rubbish that my baby cannot fly. I demanded for the ticket number and to my dismay it was completely different. The lady apologized profusely and said I should go back to the counter that she will hold on. I marched back to the check in counter and gave him the ticket number. His supervisor was already saying I should pay for another ticket there, then later they will refund the money for the first ticket please read the last statement I made. How can they refund the money for the first ticket when they claimed I didn't have a ticket for my baby to start with. I just ignored the man. The first man that attended to me now said that the machine isn't accepting the ticket. I bluntly told him that it was his problem not mine. He should rectify it and give me the boarding passes. He then had to call Lufthansa. I said " I thought you said you don't call Lufthansa office for passengers"? This same airline refused to send me the correct ticket and you as a staff working for the airline you cannot assist. Let me stop here abeg, I am already getting angry recalling this nasty ordeal. Bottom line is we got our boarding passes and we got home safely. My little king behaved. Flight was cool. The air hostesses adored him. I forgot to add that excess luggage was $200 per box. I wish everyone well. God bless you all. |
