WebmastersRe: The Truths About Web Designing/Development Business in Nigeria by guru01(m): 2:07pm On Jun 16, 2012
Pain: The bitter pill is that I see a lot of aspiration here than perspiration, inspiration and collaboration. The problem with my brothers is that they tend to go it all alone. Web design requires collaboration and fusion of ideas. It like building a house. No single professional should do it all. Architects, engineers, painters, bricklayers etc must be involved. Most of the posters here are mere web enthusiasts than professionals. Nigeria cyberspace will only expand when we begin to see more specialization, collabos and synergy. Its my 50 shekels.
Thank you sir for the wonderful post.
My contribution here is that, you are all great designers and developers, but you stand a chance of more greatness when you do things like like minded person.
Foreign AffairsSaudi Arabia's Crown Prince Is Dead by guru01(op): 12:43pm On Jun 16, 2012
Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Nayef dies
Prince Nayef bin Abdul Aziz al Saud Prince Nayef had served as Saudi Arabia's interior minister since 1975

Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Nayef bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud has died "outside the kingdom", state media say.

Prince Nayef, who was also deputy prime minister and interior minister, had left the country for a holiday and medical tests late last month.

On 3 June, the deputy interior minister said the prince, who was 77 or 78, was in good health and would return "soon".

He was named crown prince in October 2011 after the death of the previous crown prince, Sultan bin Abdul Aziz.

The succession in Saudi Arabia still passes among the sons of former King Abdul Aziz ibn Saud, who established the modern kingdom during his reign from 1932 to 1953.

Next in line is expected to be Crown Prince Nayef's 76-year-old brother, Prince Salman, who was appointed defence minister in November after spending five decades as governor of Riyadh.

King Abdullah, who is 89 years old, had a back operation last year.

A statement from the king published by the official SPA news agency, said Prince Nayef had died on Saturday "outside the kingdom" and would be buried Sunday after prayers in Mecca. It gave no more details.

Unconfirmed reports said Prince Nayef had been receiving medical treatment since May at a hospital in the Swiss city of Geneva.
1000GHC per month won't cut it, as living is Ghana is expensive. Lived there for a while, money burns much faster over there.

Expense Breakdown
Minimum amount required to live in Ghana
1. Accommodation - 120-200GHC per month
2. Feeding - 150GHC per month ( goes up every time you go to the market )
3. Transport - 150GHC per month
4. Don't forget taxes. Definitely worse than Lagos here.

You must also apply for residence and work permit, which is another round of wahala as they like to delay anything Nigerian over there.
Also be prepared to carry your official identification documents anytime you leave the house. angry

And sorry to say this, but most of them just don't like Nigerians. In fact, ask whoever is offering this job to include danger fees because whoever takes that job is going into hostile territory.
If he will provide personal security for me. I will apply, and also one black queen cheesy

Well, ....
Anyway, Nigeria companies are still developing.
One thing is to build a website, the other is to manage it. The just build and dump.
The plane has landed on the site and crash the top.
Am sorry for the variables inside. They are all dead.
WebmastersRe: New Born Thread In Nl by guru01(op): 5:38pm On Jun 14, 2012
Dual Core: Where will the quality threads for that section come from?

Its a nice idea to have such a section but it should come as a result of necessity. If we've been seeing all kinds of developer threads with howtos, hacks, bugs etc coming up in the Webmasters section...then we would really need to separate things.
You are very correct.
I remembered the last time i posted a code here for help, i couldn't even see a reply that says "do this"; That was because everyone see every topic now as casual.
Assuming it was in a specific place made for specific group, i know i will get an answer or idea on how to solve that challenge.
Ever seen that day, i said i will never ask for help on NL regarding things that concerns that web development.
Am very happy that few people are always there for me whenever they are available.

What is the nature of the job?
Who will handle the welfare?
What is the salary rate?
Who are we working for e.g: individaual, govt, company,e.tc.?
Is it a project or continuous work?
When will the job start?

Answer that one first...Thinking of more.
WebmastersRe: Nairaland May Regain Its No. 1 Spot Soon by guru01(m): 3:35pm On Jun 10, 2012
nairawall: NairaLand website traffic and ranking has been trending steeply upward for the past couple of weeks due to the new features implemented by the NL team.

It is currently ranking better than its past 24months performance. This shows that all NL needs to attain the number one spot in Africa is further tweaking and enhancement which I think the team is already working on.

Kudos to Seun and his team!
Who tell you so...
NL is among the first ten, but recent i discover through alexa that its now between 10-13.
More companies are coming up now, soon NL might be among the top 100 group.
WebmastersNew Born Thread In Nl by guru01(op): 2:34pm On Jun 10, 2012
Hello Seun, i will be glad if we can have a separate thread for web developers, because webmasters are taking over this thread called webmasters.
Anyway, its their thread because the name already indicate so.
The name can be called web developer lounge. I think that's cool.
What do you say?

ghostofsparta: What do you mean by fake magic?

You ought to agree that if there exist fake magic e.g. Stage tricks and illusions therefore there must exist real magic

I am not sure but let me assume that you're just like the majority of the so believed schooled/educated Nigerians who are convenient with various foreign concepts and practices like zodiac signs, speaking-in-tongues, horoscope, fasting, tarot reading, rapturous prophecy, armageddon, blood-cryng mary, etc but always condemn, negate, demonize anything that relates to African supernaturality/divination. I'm a natural born skeptic who's still yet to be a complete atheist and until then I will undoubtedly subscribe to certain things that pertains to our ancestral believe system rather than others because it's what identify me as unique among the human race.
See you mouth, see your username.
Am ashame of you.
ProgrammingWhy Most Web Developers Fail by guru01(op): 2:17pm On Jun 10, 2012
Greeting to all the old and new web developers, its been a while since i have started a topic here.
Actually, to my own research carried out, most developer including other platform programmers fails because they lack the sense of solving problems.
If i am to build an application or website for instance, i will go and build a social platform like facebook or nairaland.
Its just like saying, creating an existing application.

My advice to web developers out there is for us to target our works on african's and precisely Nigerian's, and also stop creating what already exist.
Nigeria as you all know is still developing, and needs web developers to help it develop more in the area of web and web security. so we can create application like for example traffic analysis, road map, etc.
With solving problems, its guaranteed that you will be rich and famous.

Thank you, you can as well add your contribution.

Timileyin: So cool, I could make so much money without having to code. Well just giving a break for some time from sleepless nights of coding, proposals writing, client follow up, seun's spam bolt and new NL, N4500 web designers competitors and clients promise and fail over small money. gush! grin
I just got a contract deal on a web project, i will be needing a car next month. Hope i can find your advert of cars in the auto section.

WebmastersRe: How Can I Reduce My Data Usage While Browsing? by guru01(m): 10:29pm On May 20, 2012
The best way to reduce your bandwidth is to disable window update, antivirus upload, also always check your background application to see the one that connects to the internet for updates. Not only window updates, so many programs do update once in a week so watch out.
Again, avoid browsing large site.

WebmastersRe: Joomla Issue -help by guru01(m): 7:07am On May 14, 2012
The issue i found with joomla most case is when am uploading to remote server, if proper care is not taking you find a lot of errors.
i just uploaded http://www.e-telligencenews.com and work on some errors.
@poster, what i will advice is that you re-upload the file again, and make sure your internet connection is fast and always over write existing files in case an error occur or the file couldn't upload proper.
Better still, call a pro to handle it for you.
