Tips for mobility from pompido
You can always go around with your admission letter or enrollment certificate if you have that and most bus drivers will let you in for free. You should also get a pass with the controllers with this. Just make sure you get the ticket asap. |

I need more facts about Kiel General tips and some info about Kiel from pompido
Well, Kiel that is now a bubbling and highly remunerating city had less than 10 Nigerian students most of whom only knew about one type of work that happens in Summer (we came in winter) and so had absolutely no information about what else was obtainable in the city. To make matters worse, I combed all the restaurants in the city asking for work in my pidgin german/english but they all wanted german speaking people.
All that we went through brought about the paradigm shift that ensured that no matter who you are, if you want to start earning money from the day you land in Kiel (if you have the power for work o ), it is now very possible.
Folks in other cities also experienced some hiccups at first.
It is different now, simply connect with people at the city you are headed and ask about work. Some places will have work waiting for you or at least give you an idea of where you will apply to and work first, then seek better offers later. Deliveroo and Foodora is an easy go to for most if you are athletic and can ride a bike.
So do not worry, so long as you plan ahead and talk to folks where you are headed, things have definitely eased up than 3years ago (just like BA went from 1.8m to almost 4m now ) |

Words of advice from pompido
STEM or no STEM, the truth of the matter is that apart from IT (programmers in particular) every other profession be it STEM or outside STEM need quite a bit of effort in getting a position post study.
My advice, forget about STEM and focus on learning the language well. Believe me when I say that no matter your program, if you have say B2 or C1 and can read and write german well, you will definitely find offers.
Even System and network administrators have it tough without german. I have many IT Security specialist friends that have B1 german and still being told it is not enough. I also met a guy that studied Law and Economics in English (very little german A1 level) but got a job as a research analyst with a startup in Hamburg.
So, what I am saying is that with God all things are possible but try your very best to be in the best position to get offers no matter what course you are studying.
There are guys that studied Economics and work in Banks now (Fintiba for example), someone studying english communication and has an HR internship with a big company (english only), friend who studied quantitative finance and now working as a business intelligence analyst....the list is endless.
Plan, prioritize, grind, learn and see success fall on you in multiple folds.... |

For those going to Bremen
Hello,
U may not get direct flight 2 bremen unless if it is a major intl airport but u can fly 2 a nearby city then from there u take a train.
Like I am flying 2 frankfurt then from there i will take a 2 hours train between 20 to 42 euro (depends if i reserve a seat or not ) to schweinfut.
I have checked for you . If you choose 2 fly 2 frankfurt too u can take a connecting train to Bremen . Its about 5 hrs trip and the price range between 35 euro to 106 euro depends on the ticket you buy . The website is www.bahn.com
so if you are on budget like me u can fly 2 frankfurt less than 100k then connect 2 ur city with like 100 euro or less then u see that with 150k or less ,u are in bremen.
Another option which is better
35 - 106, Daylight roberry, please use the bus (www.meinfernbus.de) ,it's 2 hrs difference and cost less than 20Euro, thank me later Train = 5 hours to Bremen from Frankfurt Bus = 7 hours to Bremen from Frankfurt The price of the bus is lesser than that of the train but if you are the type that doesn't like long trip, train is the best option for you. |

For language learning
Deutsche Welle got news in German that are read slowly for learners and they also got the written news with it.
Try listening to different news 1-2hrs daily as training.
Mine was tv shows involving court cases as in court cases, the judges and all involved speak at moderate not so fast level.

Words of advice from Obiwann
Let us as One Nigeria take over Deutschland. If you have any info that would help ur neighbour, tip on a course, connection to a person, job link, etc, share it, don't hoard it. Enough of the Indians, the Cameronians and even Ghanaians dominating us. The average Nigerian has a mentality of wanting only himself to succeed and doesnt want his fellow Nigerian to succeed; living life as if na competition. We need to get rid of that mentality. Nothing dey for life oh my people, as all in all na vanity. We should live it consciously with a view of helping one another and putting smiles on people's faces.
WINTER IS HERE!!! |

Some tips from obiwann
Ehen, I forgot to add a very important tip for those who are yet to come.
Buy as much clothes, jeans, inners and shoes as possible when coming, forget that Aba made quality hoax. Its hogwash.
Person wey I know tell me say him buy 10 jeans... cheesy him no go buy jeans be that again for the next one year.
Secondly, come with a LAN cable. Most internet connections especially the one you would get in your room are WLAN and not Wifi. E cheap for naija, around 2k for 10m long cable. I know say the price for here go be die.
Thirdly, bring winter jacket oh ..the cold for here no be play. A useful tip to reduce the weight on your luggage which I told em Oye say I go do na I wan share give una so.
You know say clothes light well well and na jeans and winter jacket na heavy. So this is what I did..
I wore two jeans, wear three if you can then wore an inner, a shirt and two winter jackets for my body.
Laff if you would, but the clothes wey I wear for body reach 12kg when I measure am. Tell me how I for take add am to my bags wey dn already dey weigh 48kg The woman at the check in desk come de ask me say why I pack clothes for body say am I cold? Na I tell am say yesoooo...meanwhile no be small sweat I de sweat oh..lol
Fourthly, carry all ur documents oh ..I remember the guy at the airline desk asking me if I've payed my school fees and I tell am say na free tuition, then he come de ask for any evidence of payment made to the school. I no no how that one take concern am sha, but I gavee him my Form A transfer receipt. |

olawumi171: Gud day nairalander, currently am working in Oman with the plan of saving to move to a developed country, such as Canada, but l read in travell section that with 2 million u cant and l dont have up to dat...So my question is which gud country can l migrate to with at least 1million to work as unskilled worker inas much am not a graduate. A friend told me about Germany but when l read a guy's diary l was discourage. THANKS Why are you discouraged don't use another person experience to make decision concerning your future. People migrate from different countries... Some migrate from Germany to Canada, some migrate from Canada to Germany. Some from USA to Finland... Just look for the country that works for you and go for it. Don't based your decision on somebody experience. If your discouragement is on racism, just know that there is no country in the world where you won't experience racism... That is the fact. If you check the front page, you will see a Nigerian student who want to commit suicide cos of racism in Saskatchewan, Canada. So you see, racism is everywhere. Enough said, 1M can't take you to Germany. |

Chriswazo: So today is my birthday, no champagne or announcement whatever, just on a low key. My winter partners ma una show me love and wish me luck this next week for my AL, that's my headache now, I believe visa booking will follow suit this next week.
Mehn, is not easy. I thank God for the life and accomplishments so far.
Is really a new level for we the winter hopefuls if we believe God.
I choose to post my only birthday post here, not Facebook or Whatsapp or Twitter, but here. That's where I feel to say something (being that we share the same obsession for now though was reluctant earlier in the morning Sha, just wanted today to just pass like that till Al is settled but ungratefulness wouldn't be a good way to enter new year So I give back all the whole praise and Glory to the 'I am that I am', chaiii, thank you so much. I don't deserve it by my hard works or diligence to you but u have always shown me you are in the business of blessing people, thank you
I am amazed at the new level, only AL remaining to complete and then Visum to consumate it all, but that is 'akam' case seeing all He has done just this year alone. Watch out for my full testimony to understand better I am just blessed, the Divine occurrences in my life can't just be attributed to Luck. I am a blessed child, with an obligation to extend the same level of blessings to those unprivileged, at the end, all praise will be to Him.
This is just the beginning friends, we are only starting. Let no man here "loose him moral" in this journey and I end by with these two scriptural references "With God, all things are possible, Matt 19:26b" then "All things are possible if you believe, (Mark 9:23)". I encourage everyone esp those with funding issues to meditate on these scriptures and build ur faith to face the challenge, I did same and overcame Good luck!!
#shalom Oya like and show me bday love, dailydolar come sell me chicken from ur poultry, man need celebrate at all all, na once a year things Herzlichen. Glückwunsch. zum. Geburtstag. Chef Ich. wünsche. Ihnen. dieses. Jahr. ein. Visum Viel. Spaß |

MrsInvisible: Hi, I've got some information about apprenticeship in Germany.
https://m.dw.com/cda/en/apprenticeships-go-begging-in-germany/a-19329543
And https://www.arbeitsagentur.de/content/1478794651750
. If you wish to go for an apprenticeship, you have to apply with companies, government institutions or hospitals etc, depending on the job you want to learn.
It's quite necessary to speak German, at least level A2 i.e B1, since you have to go to school and write exams all in German.
You will receive a monthly payment depending on the Ausbildung you do. It can be any amount from 300 to 1000 euro.... Apprenticeship is possible in almost every job that doesn't request for university education. You can be a mechanic, a cook, a nurse, a salesman. There are many different types of apprenticeship.
After mostly 3 years you have to write final exams to get a certificate. After successful apprenticeship you can get a job with a good pay.
If you can connect with a company from Germany, it's possible to apply for the Visa from Nigeria.
Good luck Thanks Schwester... deleven, new information for you sir |
