Does anyone have an idea about SPC flooring? I am considering using it for my living room area in the house I'm building but I don't know how durable they are compared to normal ceramic tiles. I like the aesthetics of it but I'll like to know if it's of same durability as tiles or better. I'm not laying it on top of tiles. Please, any input will be appreciated.

SPC is durable and aesthetically pleasing but to answer the Bolded! Tiles wins in durability, Lifespan (last longer).

SPC is easier to install than tiles.

If I'd recommend to you!. Just go for Tiles excellent in high traffic areas.

The major issue here is that I’m not even doing a PoP ceiling but a Gypsum ceiling so I don’t understand why the many bags of PoP cement and non mention of materials that’s used for Gypsum ceiling. Reason I’m looking for someone with experience here that can help me name some of the materials that should be in the quote (519 sqm) so that I can use it to confront them.

Yes for Pop, it is usually mixed with groundnut oil, for easy removal of casted board on-site

This is a quote I got for a gypsum board ceiling. I see it as being weird with the amount of bags of PoP in the quote. I was expecting to see profiles and some other materials needed for Gypsum board. The person looking over the site don’t want me to have the direct contact of the person that drew this quote (Person that will do it) I feel they want to go ahead to do a PoP instead of a Gypsum ceiling being that I’m not around and I might not know what was done. Is there a way I can get a rough estimate of materials needed for Gypsum board ceiling considering the square meter (519) involved so that I can confront them with the materials that will be needed?.

160 bags of Pop....? for what exactly? Vegetable oil is only needed for Pop.... You got 2in1 qoute.

No need for fillas when you're doing plaster board, it needs frames & screws.

Please house I need your advice.

I completed the block work of my building in February 2025, but the structure has not yet been roofed. The engineer has expressed concern that rainfall may affect the decking. I would like to know whether exposure to rain can negatively impact decking.

Although Decking is designed to be weather-resistant after it has properly cured. However, continuous exposure before roofing can cause several problems that could reduce the durability long-term, It's better to be safe than sorry. If you don't have funds for roofing yet... You could opt for a temporary cover like zinc.

I am yet to see a space fitted with POP that also has ceiling fan. They never work with fan. Is this normal? Thats why I dont like POP. I cant stick with only AC. There will definitely be periods of power issues even if you have an inverter setup. And I dislike standing fans because of the risk of adventurous children poking their fingers into it

POP can definitely work with ceiling fan. It just needs proper attention to details

I believe you're talking about HDF high gloss, his qoute is okay, that's a top quality board, price ranges depending on vendors around ₦55 - 60K for HDF high gloss

While Normal HDF ranges from ₦33 - ₦36k depending on vendors.


There's also MDF high gloss, which is around the same price with normal HDF, But not as quality as HDF high gloss. Both boards has high quality shiny effects, so it could be difficult for most home owners to differentiate.
