So a typical WES ECA for LLB in Nigeria says:
.
Major/Specialization: Law
Canadian Equivalency: Bachelor's degree (four years)
.
Per IRCC website, Bachelor of Laws is equivalent to Professional degree needed to practice in a licensed profession https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/documents/education-assessed/read-report.html

In completing the Express Entry profile, do you choose Master’s degree or Professional degree?
Has anyone explored this option?
What was the outcome?
Alot of seniors have argued against this oh if you can check back the pages, it has been said that going this route will end it tears. Just go with IQAS

Thank you.

WES vs IQAS for Lawyers

Disclaimer: this is not to say lawyers should not use IQAS, grin I'm just looking for intellectual banter this fine Saturday afternoon .....with no party to attend!

Statement in bold 100% correct....HOWEVER I would assume VOs are bound by the information available to applicants on the Canadian Government websites.

And one of those sites clearly states that a BACHELOR OF LAWS is equivalent to a professional degree, not in general terms but in terms of reading the assessment from the ECA and CRS points awarded. See screenshot and link.

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/documents/education-assessed/read-report.html

Do VOs make mistakes? Of course, but I have never seen a judicial review case on this issue....so is it that Lawyers are no longer learned tongue ( they are not reading up and are not aware of what IRCC says about ECAs marked as Bachelor of Laws) or wahala is no longer their work (they are not taking IRCC up on its VOs' errors) or these rejection applications are getting reopened? Or maybe WES says normal Bachelor instead of Bachelor of Laws?

If the info on canada.ca and cic.gc.ca cannot be relied on, then what are we all doing here? In general, we pray that VOs do not make errors on our apps but were it to happen because of an ECA, POF, NOC or other issue, we shouldn't just fold our hands...after all the time and money spent!!

#RamblingsOfAnApplicant
I guess the problem here is Wes regards it as ordinary bachelors, however I still feel with a detailed LOE and with regards to the info on Canada.ca a bachelors of law is one anywhere in the world and the WES evaluation should fly. I’m also in this boat.

Don't do it oh. Assess your LLB with IQAS. Your application will be rejected. A word is enough for the wise
Hello thanks for this but I need your advice because I’m in a fixed. IQAS needs a university certificate and my Uni claims our certificates are printed from the uk lol so it takes at least two years for mine to be available, what do I do?

So which possible alternative to your LLB certificate are you considering? I gather you are a current NLS student, do you have at least 1 year (preferably 3 years) work experience?
Thanks for the reply, I guess I’m going to try WES with a detailed LOE since A bachelors of Law is a bachelors of Law and according to CIC, a professional degree. I have a one year paid experience and also have a sister who’s a PR. I stand on 471 with my simulated score.

The people that operate that twitter account will not be the visa officer working on your application.
If WES does not evaluate your degree as Masters equivalent, be careful not to claim same.
Hi it seems you’re a lawyer and thanks for the heads up, I’m currently in NLS and I don’t think I can get my LLB certificate anytime soon that’s why I’m looking for every possible alternative. I would love to get to know you if you don’t mind by the way, thank you.

WES evaluates LLB & BL as “two or more certificates”.

IQAS evaluates it as a Masters Degree.

I might be affected if I post his name and phone number online to declare him wanted because he may also charged me for libel.

Who advised you this? You cannot be charged or he cannot succeed in a claim for libel since you have a prima facie case and evidence against his frauds requiring you to post his details for him to be apprehended.

For those using CES And always come here to ask for questions and to confirm if anyone has used let me drop this Update

I helped my sister in the UK process her transcript for evaluation using CES

Opened a CES account and made payment 23rd November 2019

I had made payment for the school Transcript a week before this though . LASU I cldnt afford the 28k LASU verification payment for WES it’s outrageous and ridiculous hence jejerly has to use CES

CES sent an email 9th January 2020, confirming to me that they received the transcript from LASU 29th November . The email they sent had this message (. The estimated processing time is based upon this acceptance date. This excludes the University Year-End closure from Saturday, December 21, 2019 to Sunday, January 5, 2020. ) which means they start working on the transcript from when the transcript is delivered there and not from when you created account

Yeap let me give LASU thumbs up in this regard they are always fast in processing transcript . My transcript reached ICES when I did mine two years ago exactly one to two weeks my hubby reached IQAS also under same time frame same 2018 and this standard is still being maintained

So we didn’t get any update from CES again until yesterday April 14th that it’s being completed and soft copy of the outcome was sent to email while the hard copy wld be sent to the Canada address We filled when this whole COVID is over cause they said dispatches are not operating . The outcome came out Positive BSC was evaluated 4 year University Degree BSC Canada equivalents

So in Summary Processing time was 17 weeks Two days , probably it wld ve been lesser If COVID didn’t delay operations and if we didn’t send around University Year End Closure Saturday, December 21, 2019 to Sunday, January 5, 2020. )cause these period they dont work
Hello I need a contact from LASU to help me with my application thanks.
