EducationCriminology Department Scraps As Unilorin Loss Accreditation From Nuc by Harbylon(op): 6:05pm On Dec 23, 2016
The university of llorin today 22/12/2016 scrapped it's department of criminology.
This was disclosed during a meeting with students of the department by representatives of the institution such as the HOD's Dean and other.

Examrelief team correspondent in the department disclosed the reason why the department was scrapped.

According to him "what happened is that when we were admitted in 2014, NUC came for accreditation and the result was just released few weeks ago.so it was told that the department didn't meet the required standard so it should be scrapped.'

"As a result of this the school authority tried to solve the problem so that students won't be left stranded.

Initially the school authority brought suggestion that we should be move to faculty of education but they see there will be a future negative implication so that plan was jetisoned. Now they brought two options:

NO 1:
"We should be moved to sociology.
"AS for 100lv students they are going to be distributed to psychology, social work, geography and sociology but anyone who feels his utme combination fits economic he or she can go.

"As for 200 and 300 levels, all the sociology core courses that should be studied in 100 and 200 level will be streamlined together and study them in 300 lv as we are now (100lv sociology courses will be studied in 1st semester we are now while 200 lv sociology courses will be studied in 2nd semester). As for 300lv sociology courses we are going to study them during holidays (July to September)

NO 2:
"Inter- university transfer.if you are not please with the university decision you can make transfer to where the course is being studied like unilag, ui, unijos, lasu and other schools But the problem is

A: the financial constraints

B: it is very risky once you decide to be transferred, the school will get you the transcripts and go to the school.then your studentship terminated and if the school you are willing to be transferred to reject you, you will be left with nothing.

C: As for 300 lv who wish to be transfer, such will start from 200lv not 300lv.

The dean of the faculty, HOD of pol science, psychology, sociology, faculty officer, faculty sub-dean Mr obasanjo, Mrs isiaka and Dr Adekeye were in attendance.

1.0 INTRODUCTION

The West African Examinations Council e-Registration System is a user friendly online registration package for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination. It allows School schools in Nigeria to register their candidates online through the Internet.

The WAEC e-Registration service makes registration easier for the schools and also eliminates errors in registration information which are hitherto made on paper and only detected while processing the paper forms by WAEC. Such documents as Timetable and Syllabus for the examination could easily be printed or downloaded by the School Authorities. It is our belief in WAEC that this new process will lead to a revolution in Information Technology (IT) development in School education in Nigeria
This manual provides the step by step procedure and training guide for WAEC personnel and Schools Principals/Examination Officers on the e-Registration System.

2.0 PROCEDURE FOR REGISTRATION

This manual covers the following:
Ø Payment for the examination
Ø Identification of Examination Officer
Ø Registration of Candidates
Ø Reviewing/Editing of Candidates Information
Ø Generation of Examination Numbers
Ø Downloading of Information
Ø Offline Registration

2.1 Payment for the examination

Schools are expected to collect the approved registration fees from all their candidates and issue one bank draft in favour of The West African Examinations Council (WAEC). This cheque is paid at the WAEC Zonal/Branch Office in charge of their State. The designated WAEC Finance Officer in the Zonal/Branch Office enters information regarding the payment on his computer and issued the school a scratch card or pay voucher containing information to enable the Principal/Examination Officer sign up to the e-Registration Website.
However, to make the online registration trouble-free especially for schools without Internet Service in their locality, we have made provision for offline registration on their standalone PCs or through Business Centers in their locality. The CD-ROM containing this offline registration facility will be given to schools along with the pay voucher upon payment. This also means that schools could start registering their candidates as they collect entry fees from them. Please see details of the offline registration in Section 2.8.

2.2 Identification of School Principal/Examination Officer

Once a school has collected a Scratch Card or Pay Voucher as the case may be, the school could visit the WAEC e-Registration website through an accredited examination officer usually appointed by the school to co-ordinate the registration of candidates for the examination. The School Examination Officer could visit the e-Registration website as follows:

While in this website, click on the “May/June Examinations” icon. This takes you straight to the e-Registration home page.
Notes: Your computer must be connected to the Internet to do this.
For schools without Internet connection, they could register at the WAEC Zonal/Branch Office in charge of their State or the nearest Cyber café or use the offline registration facility.

Please disregard any information regarding the sales of jamb form as for now.
It pains me a lot when I found a fake information like this at Nairaland front page, this shows that those admin here are neither read nor verified information before moving them to the front page, all they need is to tag them.

All candidates should note that there is no sales of form at any bank or any other financial or non-financila institutions as far as 2017/2018 jamb is concerned.
The payment will be made online and that was the main reason for the redesigned of the jamb website.

As at now of making this comment the registration is yet to be available, see evidence below:

EducationJamb To Meets CBT Centre Owners Today Over 2017 Exams by Harbylon(op): 8:38am On Dec 13, 2016
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board says arrangements have been concluded to have an interaction with owners of Computer Based Test centres in the country ahead of the 2017 UTME.
https://i1.wp.com/examrelief.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/Jamb-CBT.jpg
The board’s Head, Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, made the disclosure in a statement made available to the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday in Lagos.

According to the statement, the meeting which Will comes up Today Tuesday 13th of December 2016, at the University of Lagos is to fine tune all areas of challenges geared towards conducting a hitch-free examination in 2017.

It said that the meeting would determine the number of centres to be used for the 2017 all CBT Unified Tertiary Matriculation Board exercise.

“These are centres that must have a minimum of 250 and above terminals (computers).

“We will not hesitate to disqualify any centre that falls short of the requirements,’’ the statement said.

“We will equally not compromise on the selection of these centres as they will fully be responsible for our registration and examinations and other related responsibilities that they will be saddled with from time to time as we introduce new measures.’’

The statement said that the board would commence the sale of application forms soon and urged prospective candidates not to patronise any self-acclaimed agent as the board had not and would not appoint any.

It urged candidates to always visit the board’s website for information and disregard any information as regard the sales of jamb form for now.

EducationSo Sad!!! How This Pretty Aau Graduate Was Murdered By Her Bf In Lagos Hotel by Harbylon(op): 6:17am On Dec 11, 2016
What truly transpired between a 27-year-old Computer Science graduate of the Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, Edo State, Okonikhere Joy, and her boyfriend on the night of Sunday, December 4, 2016 causing the former’s death may never be known.
https://examrelief.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2016/12/girl.png
But this much is clear: That night, there was a scuffle between them at a hotel in Orile area of Lagos. By morning, Joy’s corpse was discovered by workers at the hotel, prompting them to alert the police. But the unidentified boyfriend was in the wind.

Saturday Punch learnt that when the workers at the hotel made the discovery, they recalled noticing that there was a scuffle inside the hotel room where Joy and her boyfriend lodged the night before. When the case was reported to the police, a manhunt was instantly launched for the suspect.

Two suspects have been arrested by the police. One of them is the purported boyfriend, who has not been identified by the police.

A police source told Punch that a CCTV showed the suspect leaving the hotel.

One of Joy’s friends, May Ebute, said, “I just spoke with her brother and he confirmed the news. The murderer is presently cooling off in a police cell. I wish l could find the words to express the anger l am feeling right now,” she said.

The suspect told the police that he indeed had a fight with the deceased, Saturday Punch learnt.

He explained during interrogation that he grabbed the neck of his girlfriend during the disagreement and that he did not mean to kill her.

“I just put my hands on her neck to scare her, but she stopped breathing,” he was quoted as saying.

Joy, an Edo State indigene, was said to have graduated in 2014 and came to Lagos to look for a job.

When Saturday Punch spoke with the father of the deceased on the phone , Mr. Friday Okonikhere, there was no doubt that he was still grief-stricken.

He said, “I have never heard of the boy before. I think they must have met in Lagos. The police said they had acquired a CCTV footage that showed the perpetrator of the crime. But they have not shown it to me.

“She told me she was working in Lagos. Joy came to Lagos in search of a job. Her mother died four years ago. My daughter’s life is like a total waste now. At the moment when her life would have started becoming a glory, she was wasted.

“I feel very bitter and angry. I am looking at myself as a failure right now because I don’t know what I could have done to prevent my first daughter from being killed in such a way. I have been told there is going to be an autopsy soon. Once the autopsy is done, hopefully they would release the body to us.”

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Dolapo Badmos, said investigation was still ongoing in the case but confirmed that two suspects are currently in police custody.

Please all candidates are to note that the examination board have provided 4 Option to aid registration.
The Four (4) options are available to a candidate who wishes to register, they include:

ITEMS NEEDED BY CANDIDATES FOR REGISTRATION

Yes, lets now move on to the necessary items which you are required to obtain before registration in-order to avoid mistakes during the process.
Below are the items you are expected to have before proceeding with the online registration.
i. Details of O’ Level result where it is available or O’ Level subjects expected in the case of those awaiting results.

Now Here are the New Rules and Regulations of JAMB For 2017 [Do’s and Don’ts], Please read it carefully as any defaulter does so at his or her own risk.
Candidates will be emphatically informed to guard their registration numbers jealously as registration numbers are personal and security items to candidates.

REGISTRATION AT THE COMPUTER BASED TEST CENTRES

JAMB Has brought out rules to all cafe attendants and center owners to allow candidates use their system for registration, which means you can walk in to any JAMB Approved center and request them to unlock their PC to enable you carry out your registration, this does not imply you wont be charged, but a stipulated fee has been mapped out for each candidate registration. i. The brochure will be on the JAMB portal. As soon as a candidate creates his/her profile on the JAMB portal, there will be a link that will take him/her straight to the brochure.
He/she is to confirm reading the brochure for continuation of registration
ii. As soon as the candidate creates his profile, an electronic copy of the brochure will be automatically sent to his/her e-mail which he/she has provided.
iii. A CD of the brochure and Syllabus will be given to him/her at the biometric capturing site.
At the point of capturing the biometrics, there must be an evidence that the candidate collected the brochure CD and recommended book.

ACTIVITIES OF BANKS AT THE REGISTRATION CENTRE

So after reading the above instructions we will move over to the roles the Banks have to play during your registration in-order to aid faster and more convenient registration process.

All Registration Centres will be given a list of accredited banks.
Each Registration Centre will be allowed to choose the bank it would like to work with.
After choosing the bank, an officer from the bank will be stationed at the centre to do the following:
Assist candidates to create their profile and pay through any of the payment options they wish to use.
Collect Seven Hundred Naira (N700) per candidate for either registration and/or biometric capture directly into the account of the centre.
The banks will be expected to open avenues of payment:
Payment of Application Fees

Payment of Seven Hundred Naira (N700) to the designated account of the Registration Centre.
At the end, give a receipt to each candidate for the Seven Hundred Naira (N700) payment for registration or biometric capturing at the centre.

ABUSE BY APPROVED CBT CENTRES AND CYBER CAFÉ OPERATORS

Last years and subsequent years Cyber agents have been involved in many irregularities and abuse during registration, this has prompted the examination board to map out strict measures that will be meted out to cyber agents who defaults during the 2017 registration exercise.

1. IRREGULARITIES OBSERVED:

It has been observed by the Board, that in the past, there were lots of irregularities during registration of candidates. Some of which are as follows:
Off-line registration means that candidates are given template form to fill and enter their details
and the Registration centres would later enter their data for them on-line at a later time when the candidates were not present.
Registration Centres did off-line registration for candidates and in the process of completing them on-line, mismatched their images and made mistakes in the candidates’ data.
Registration Centres deliberately went to the hinterland to register candidates off-line in order to create Special Centres where they could further perpetrate Irregularities during examinations.
Punish uncompromising candidates by changing their centres and/or institutions without their knowledge/consent.
Swapped and replaced particulars of uncompromising candidates with others and used money paid for other candidates.
MEASURES TAKEN BY THE BOARD

Payment for access code by Registration Centres has been cancelled. All systems in the Registration Centre will be enabled for the registration.
None of these systems therefore can be used for registration outside the Registration Centre.
Candidates will now have access to all the systems at the Computer Based Test (CBT) Centre for the registration exercise.
This is unlike before where only one system was used by the Computer Based Test (CBT) Centre for registration.
Candidates will be properly educated to understand that their registration numbers are private and security numbers which they must not divulge.
Any candidate who discloses his/her registration number, does so at his/her own risk.
An alert system has been created for notifications on changes in the candidates details at each stage of the registration process.

ACCOUNTABILITY IN REGISTRATION CENTRES

Registration Centres are hereby urged to appoint credible staff to man their Centre to ensure credibility and accountability.
It has also been observed that some Public Registration Centres refused registration because of “low return”. These returns are not low as claimed but officers in charge do not remit appropriately.
