This is to inform candidates who applied for the 2017 Obafemi Awolowo University Post-UTME that the school will be using Computer Based Test as her screening method. This decision was made at the Senate meeting that held on Wednesday, 30th of August, 2017.

OAU 2017 POST-UTME – WE WILL USE COMPUTER BASED TEST FOR POST-UTME

During the meeting, the OAU Management got a nod from its Senate to re-introduce examination to screen intending students, but this time, not the traditional Paper Pencil Test, rather, a computer based one. This development comes on the heel of federal government’s repentance, allowing universities to conduct tests for aspirants seeking admission into their citadel.

Confirming the development, the Dean of Students’ Affairs, Prof. I. O. Aransi told OAU Peeps on phone that the Post-UTME will be a Computer Based Test as the deadline set by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for the submission of merit list is October 15, 2017.

The Dean however advised all prospective candidates to stay away from unfounded reports and fraudulent rumours stating that the screening form is already out. “The advertisement will be on the school website very soon,” Aransi added.

Part of the recommendations put forward to the Senate by the Committee of Deans, as obtained by OAU Peeps News Agency include that the registration portal be opened to aspirants starting from Monday, September 11 and the screening examination starting on September 18.

According to the same proposition, the charges for the screening will be the same amount as what was charged last year (N2,000 JAMB Charges and N5,000 for the use of CBT facilities totaling N7,000). All of these subjected to the approval of the Senate at Wednesdays meeting.

To you, What Difference Does It Make, The New JAMB 2017 Cut-off Mark?

It came as a surprise to many that the 2017 cut-off marks for 2017 were way below expectation.

Well, I wasn’t all that surprised. Remember I told you guys before the cut-off marks were announced that a change from the norm should be expected. Some how, I had a hunch that there was going to be a change and I was damn right.

Many are asking why the cut-off marks are this low. According to JAMB, out of the total number of candidates that participated in the exam, 23.8 percent scored below 160. Could that be the reason for setting the cut-off marks that low? No one knows.

Someone said it could be a way to pacify ASUU and get them to call off the strike; since low cut-off marks means more candidates can buy the Post-UTME forms of these universities and that means more money for them.

However, if the recently introduced Central Admission Processing System (CAPS), is anything to go by, there may not be room for that.

The cut-off marks obviously will give candidates with low JAMB scores a chance to compete for admission if schools decides to lower their individual cut-off marks as well.

Nevertheless, candidates should bear in mind that regardless of the fact that JAMB cut-off mark is 120 for universities. Most universities (if not all) will not set their individual cut-off marks lower than 170. Unless for the sake of generating more money.

Even if some universities happen to set their cut-off marks below 170, do not expect competitive ones to do the same.

You will agree with me that even if JAMB cut off mark for universities is set at 50. You can’t expect schools like UNIBEN, UNILAG, UI, OAU etc to go below 200. At least not this year.

So for those with low JAMB scores, if your school of choice is a competitive one, you may want to switch to a less competitive one to have a chance of gaining admission. Don’t start hoping there may be chance for you to gain admission in that competitive school with your low cut-off mark after all.

JAMB Change of course and institution is still on and will not close till admission process has been concluded. That’s an advantage.

Through experience, I have come to know the way UNN does her things. UNN has a culture and this culture is been followed in almost everything UNN does. Last year, UNN had already put up her questions for putme before it was cancelled by the government and its same questions they are going to put up for this year. People coming to our office to ask if UNN will conduct putme this year, the answer is YES, UNN will conduct physical putme this year and these are few things you should know before then.

1. The putme will take place in Nsukka campus for all courses and the venue will be UNN digital library. I said so because am among those that will invigilate during that period and we have already started getting messages to start getting ready, the actual date is not yet known but it will be in September.

2. UNN will not officially provide accommodation for the aspirants but the few hostels “MAY” be opened, I said “MAY” because we have not officially gotten the info on that. If on the other hand the hostels are not opened, we are making private arrangements to assist as many as we can during that period and its going to be free. Some churches will also help out when the time comes.

3. UNN has not officially said anything concerning cutoff marks, immediately its out, I will inform everybody, it will also be in UNN official website.

4. The questions for putme will be 4 subjects. Those subjects you wrote in Utme are what you are going to write during putme and it will be 15 questions each.

5. Concentrate on Jamb past questions and text books. The exam will last for 3 days unless there are changes.
Be informed that the ongoing ASUU strike will not have any effect on admission process because universities have been given deadlines on when to conclude admissions. So, start reading and be getting prepared.

6. Directions to Nsukka from various parts of the country will be posted in my next post. How and where you can transport to Nsukka from wherever part of the country you reside.

7. Be careful of how you meet or ask people you don’t know for UNN admission help, if there is anybody who tries to deceive you into that, feel free to report such person to us, there is no staff who is genuinely into admission in UNN that we don’t have his profile.

The training of Corps members under the NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme (SAED) is set to commence in all Orientation Camps on Monday, 31st July, 2017.

The programme, which commenced in 2012, is aimed at contributing towards curbing the rate of graduate unemployment in the country.

So far, nine hundred and sixteen thousand (916, 000) Corps members have been sensitized since the commencement of the programme.

GAINS OF SAED PROGRAMME
Here are some of the gains of the SAED programme over the past years:

1. NYSC has successfully entered into partnership with stakeholders, including the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Bank of Industry (BOI), and the Heritage Bank, with a view to empowering interested Corps members with start-up capital to fund businesses conceived after the SAED training;

2. NYSC/BOI Graduate Empowerment Fund (GEF), which kicked off in 2015, has so far granted business loans to 407 Corps Entrepreneurs. Maximum amount per beneficiary is Two Million Naira (N2m).

3. The CBN/NYSC Youth Entrepreneurship Development Programme (YEDP) kicked off in 2016, and has so far granted loans of Three Million Naira (N3m) each to seven serving Corps members and many Ex-Corps members;

NOTE: All the loans are given at single digit interest.

4. NYSC is partnering with stakeholders in the private sector to build Zonal Integrated Skills ACQUISITION AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP Centres in all six geo-political zones.

The one for South-West has been completed in Ekiti State. That of the North-East has reached advanced stage in Gombe while construction work on the one for the South-South was officially flagged off early July 2017 in Delta State.

To be frank with you if you have good looks, have a good height, better stature and a vibrant spirit you have a better chances of winning the nomination of the platoon leader of your group.

Orientation Broadcasting Service Crew (OBS)
Joining the orientation broadcasting team of the camp can be one of the best things you can do for yourself in your service year.
The OBS is involved in giving out vital news and information to the camp, providing enabling sound system for social activities and spearheading different programs.
They are in need of engineers, writers, journalist, media presenters and skills like that.
Suggestion : As much as possible try to be vibrant, and up and doing when you join the team. This would give you a better edge in getting being selected to be given a better posting.

Red Cross
The Red Cross crew is an important part of the orientation camp experience. Due to reoccurring incidence of people fainting, the unforeseen accidents and lots of the minor hospitalization cases during parades, sports and other exercises, the duties of this Red Cross team in providing immediate First Aid to go a long way to avert possible life threatening situations.

Suggestions: Be an active member of the group this would go a long way to gain you a slot in a getting a good posting.

Friendships
If you know your way around making friends you can easily make friends with soldiers, the man o’ war, the civil defense, the police and other officials. Although that may not guarantee your getting a slot into a better posting, but you never know, these people could be close to one or two people who could help you out. It is possible that they can get impressed by your personality and might choose to do one or two kindness for you.
Suggestions: You do not want to be start making this friendship at the tail end of your orientation camp when you know the posting process must have started. Rather, try to make them friends as soon as possible, and your endearing and unselfish personality to them can actually open up their heart to help if they only they have such connections.

Sweet Mouth
In addition to making friends having the persuasive oratory to win people over can be an added edge to talk officials into giving you a good posting.
Suggestions: the chances are minimal if your sweet mouth is not mixed with friendship, persuasion and an appealing or charismatic character.

In fact wining any award in the orientation camp gives you a higher possibility of being posted to the city area or to a better place.
Prominent competitions that you can win in and get a chance for a better posting are Miss NYSC, Mr. MACHO, Marching crew, Dance Group, Drama and Band Group.
Suggestions: Support your dance and drama crew as much as you can. Do your best to practice and win the Miss NYSC or Mr. MACHO.

Others
Interestingly through prayers you might be blessed with favor in a divinely spiritual way.
Also there are some camps where Corp members who have skills in computer science or are proficient in the use of computers are called upon to do the posting job. It could be your turn to shine if you volunteer for such duties.

7 Things All 2017 Batch A Stream II PCMs Should Expect Today (21/7/2017)

1. Sleepless Night

Most NYSC 2017 Batch A Stream II PCM will not be able to sleep on Thursday night waiting for NYSC portal to be open by 12am. In fact, some will not be able to eat that night all in the name of waiting for 12am.

My advice is, why give yourself stress. You have been posted to a state. Either you print by 12am or by next morning, it will not change anything. So please, eat and sleep.

2. Singing and Dancing in Happiness.

Some PCMs will be so happy Today because they would be posted to their place of choice. Especially people posted to Lagos or Abuja.

My advice is that you should take that as an opportunity to get connections and not be carried away by Lagos enjoyment.

3. Sadness and Tears

While some are dancing for their state of deployment, some, especially girls will be crying for being posted to the North. I don’t know their issue with the Northern Part or Nigeria. They will cry and refuse to eat.

I have see a beautiful adult lady crying because she was posted to Plateau.

My advice is that, you do not need to cry. Do not be afraid. The whole of North is not filled with suicide bombers or Boko Haram.
There are no bad states. You just need to utilize it. You will even enjoy electricity, cheap food stuffs, low transport fare and also be surprise that North is not exactly how some people are painting it.

4. Redeployment on point

The first thing that some people will be looking for is how to redeploy. Imagine someone who want to redeploy without going to orientation camp. That’s how serious and in a hurry some people can go.

My advice Is that, you should redeploy if you wish to. But remember how cool it will be to experience another culture.

5. Anger, Fights and Dissapointment

Wait… did I say fight? I don’t mean physical fight. I mean the kind of anger and fight you get when you paid #50k to someone to help you process your posting to Lagos and in your call up letter you see Jigawa or Bornu. Chaii…. Yawa don burst!

My advice is that you should try to collect your money back or just accept it as fate. What do you expect me to advice you if not to get back your money or just take heart.

6. Heart break

My definition of heart break in this content is when you and your lover plan to stay close and NYSC post one to Lagos and the other Jigawa.

Special determination is needed to keep the groove going.

7. Extreme Supervision

This is funny, but it happens. You borrow money to buy NYSC kits since stream I went to camp thinking you would follow stream I and till now you have not paid back the money. My friend, somebody is watching you.

Or you owe house rent and you want to outsmart the Care taker after you discover you have been posted to a far place. My Dear, your care taker is aware of the date.

This is to inform all the 2017 Batch ‘A’ Stream II prospective corps members that the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced that the portal for printing of call up letters will be opened on Friday, 21st July, 2017.

Prospective Corps members are expected to log on to the NYSC Portal to commence printing of their Call-up letters from the date stated above

Prospective Corps Members that did not make payment during online registration are to start collection of the Call-up Letters from their respective institutions of graduation from Friday, 21st July, 2017.

The West Africa Examination Council, WAEC has finally released the 2019 Sept/Oct Second series WAEC GCE Examination results for all candidates who wrote the examination.

2019 Second Series WAEC GCE results have now been successfully uploaded online and it is accessible from the WAEC official result checking website. Details on how to check the result is explained below:

HOW TO CHECK 2019 SECOND SERIES WAEC GCE RESULT

1. Visit https://www.waecdirect.org/

2. Enter your 10-digit WAEC Examination Number. (This is your 7-Digit centre number followed by your 3-digit candidate number eg. 4123456789).

3. Enter the 4 digits of your Examination Year eg. 2019.

4. Choose “PRIVATE CANDIDATE RESULTS” as the examination Type:

5. Enter the Card Serial Number found on the reverse side of your Scratch card.

6. Enter the Personal Identification Number (PIN) on your Scratch card.

7. Click Submit and wait for the results window to come up.

Don’t forget to print your result for future references. you may need it in the future after you have exhausted your WAEC result-checking card usage. The WAEC result checker PIN and Serial Number are contained on the CIVAMPENS Card issued to all candidates.

Nigeria Records Another Huge Success As 59,22% Obtained Minimum Of 5 Credits And Above In The Just Released WAEC 2017 May/June Results.

In the just concluded WASSCE for School Candidates, 2017. 1,567,016 candidates registered for the examination, out of which 1,559,162 candidates sat the for the examination.

Out of the total no. of candidates that sat for the exam, 829,853 were male & 729,309 were female, rep. 53.22% & 46.27% respectively.

Out of the total no. of candidates that sat the exam, 1,471,151, rep. 94.36% have their results fully processed & released.

95,734 candidates, rep. 5.64% have a few of their subjects still being processed due to errors traceable to the candidates.
Such errors are being corrected & the results will be fully processed and released subsequently.

1,490,356 candidates, representing 95.59% obtained credits and above in two (2) subjects.

1,436,024 candidates, representing 92.44% obtained credits and above in three (3) subjects.

1,357,193 candidates, representing 87.05% obtained credits and above in four (4) subjects.

1,243,772 candidates, representing 79.77% obtained credits and above in five (5) subjects.

1,084,214 candidates, representing 69.54% obtained credits and above in six (6) subjects.

923,486 candidates, rep. 59.22%, obtained minimum of credits in 5 subjects & above, including English Language & Mathematics.

The Percentage age of candidates in this category in the WASSCE for School Candidates in 2015 & 2016 was 38.68% & 52.97%, respectively

214,952 candidates’ results, rep. 13.79% are being withheld in connection with various reported cases of exam malpractice.

The cases are being investigated & reports of the investigations will be presented to the NEC in due course for consideration.

The Committee’s decisions will be communicated to the affected candidates through their schools.

Candidates who sat the exam will be able to check their results via www.waecdirect.org within the next few hours.

The Result checker PIN and Serial Number are contained on the CIVAMPENS Card issued to all candidates.

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) will tomorrow release the results of the May/June 2017 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) taken by over 1.6million school candidates nationwide.

The Head of National Office, WAEC Nigeria, Mr. Olu Adenipekun will announce the release of the school candidates results in line with his new policy tagged ‘Project 60 Days’ at the council Yaba Head office in Lagos.

The release of the May/June 2017 WASSCE results will end months of anxiety by millions of secondary school candidates who applied for admissions into universities, polytechnics and colleges of education and intend to use the results to process their admissions.

WAEC Head of Public Affairs, Mr. Demianus Ojijeogu confirmed in a text message that the May/June 2017 WASSCE results will be made public by the HNO.

Sunday Sun gathered that the coordination and marking of the school candidates’ examination began on Monday, May 22 with staff training and briefing in Lagos while they collected materials the next day.

WAEC staff departed to the 83 marking venues across the country on May 24 and the marking of the answer scripts involves 66,618 examiners.

Chief examiners/team leaders/assistant examiners had their coordination meeting from May 26 to May 28, 2017. Marking ended on Saturday, June 10. The results are expected to be released 60 days after the last paper was taken. Previous WAEC managements set the target of releasing the results after 90 days of last paper taken by candidates. In the May/June 2017 WASSCE, the last paper was taken on May 5.

Many applicants seeking admission into the universities, polytechnics and colleges of education took the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) as awaiting result candidates and are hoping the results would be released before the admission exercise starts in September.

According to WAEC image maker, months of waiting will end on Monday as the candidates are expected to start checking their results using their WAEC ID CARD.

Joint Admission & Matriculation Board 2017 UTME: what are Reasons For Delaying July 1st Results?

It is almost 2 weeks now that JAMB conducted the supplementary examination. Up till now, the results of candidates who participated in the examination are yet to be released

Just like any concerned person, we do not know the reason for this delay and JAMB has kept quiet on that till this moment.

When you think of the fact that the results of the main examination which had more candidates for each day did not take this long to be released (except in cases JAMB had to withheld some results due to irregularities), you can’t help but wonder what could possibly be the reason for this delay.

For candidates who participated in the exam, we understand how frustrating this can be especially as some schools have started announcing their admission screening exercise.

However, the best you all can do now is to still be patient and trust that JAMB has a good reason for delaying the results till now.

Nevertheless, we @EXAMRELIEF are using this medium to make a strong appeal to JAMB to do the needful. Whatever is the reason for this delay should be resolved as soon as possible so that concerned candidates will know their fate and know what next move to make.
