Politics / This Is Lagos - Post All Lagos Affairs Here. by Hardtalk: 2:20am On May 27, 2010
Hello fellow Nigerians and Non-Nigerians. This is not to negate whatever is happening in Lagos, but a thread to discuss all Lagos affairs.

Post all issues that concerns Lagosians, and Lagos State in general.

Here, all issues both old and new are expected to be posted and discussed here.

Once again, it is not to attack anybody, but where issues are sorted out.

Thanks.

Lets rock and roll grin

So, this is your evidence that Fashola stole money?

When you are able to come up with something about the Governor stealing money and locate the money, until he gets convicted in a court of law, by the EFCC, by the state legislature, the nonsense you posted up there shall remain nothing but nonsense.

Ya''ll need to go find something better to do with your time.

The way you argue baffles me. In fact, it is share waste of time raising points here to buttress my facts.
Now I know, your case is like the devil in the Bible, he has been condemned for destruction for life.
Therefore, no matter the ministration, he cannot repent!.

Have a nice day.

So, in your superb summation and in today's Nigeria, we don't need any proof, we don't need any evidence, we don't need any trial, we should just make allegations and lock people away, including you if such allegation was ever made against you?

Is this your warped and demented reasoning?

Some of you need to at least pretend you saw the four corner walls of a school.

With the overwhelming proof against IBB, has he ever accepted the fact he stole? Even with the stealing artistry of OBJ which may never be rivalled, has he ever accepted that his government was the most corrupt ever in the nation? Evidences are everywhere bro!. All we need in this nation, is a government, that has the will power to probe all these thieves, and intending thieves.

When government told us, they could not find Okigbo panel report, did we not present it? Why is Fashola preventing the probe should be the issue here, and nothing more. Evidences are abound, and once the panel set up calls for evidences, they will be overwhelmed. Let him for once allow the probe process, and the rest will be history!. As for my educational status, do I look like an half-baked stuff? I really dont want to talk much here, so I will not sound a bit derogatory!.

I asked you to show proof that he stole money, not to come up with the same tired and baseless nonsense.

Show me where he stole money, how much he stole and where he kept the money or go peddle your crap elsewhere.

And what's a citizen of Lagos State's lawsuit against the probe got to do with Fashola?

Instead of the same innuendos, why don't you just go ahead and tell us that Fashola is behind the injunctions, also make sure to tell us how he did it, how much he's paying to have it done and who he's paying.

I'm counting on the fact that you have all the facts, so please don't disappoint, show us your proof and facts.

And if you still don't have any, maybe you need to keep quiet and go find something better to do with your time.

Which fact are you looking for again. Where on earth will you see any leader openly steal any money? Why do some people always post comments without thinking twice? IBB looted enough, where did they tell me and you that, he personally stole money? Abacha even minted enough local currency, where was it said, that Abacha was caught with any specific amount of money. I may not want to mention OBJ here, becos his stealing artistry is till fresh. Please contribute reasonably, and stop chasing shadows.

What baffles here is that, he has refused to be probed again!. This I guess might be the second time, if not the third.

I have a question:

How come this road, and the Lekki-Epe Expressway are so expensive N1bn+ per kilometre

The article posted says the road will cost N60b. The distance quoted cannot be more than 60km, if that. This means that this road will cost up to N1b per km. Federal Ministry of Works data says dual carriageways in Lagos should cost no more than N330m per km. An additional lane either side should therefore cost no more than about N150m per km, bringing the total for a 3 lane expressway to about N480m/km.

I did my calculations, and after allowing for the usual feeding fest that attends Nigerian contracts, came to about N300m/km for a dual carriageway road, which is not too far from the FMW's own figures. I'm at a loss to explain how Fash/Tinubu came about their billion naira per kilometre figures for these roads they're building, which, if the Lekki-Epe expressway is to be used as a template, do not even include any bridges of note!!

I fear we are being fleeced in the name of development.

It will be interesting to see if they're planning to "concession" this one too, maybe to a Fashola-related company this time, since Tinubu now owns Lekki-Epe expressway for the next 30 years!!

I will not comment much on this, though it is amazing when comparing figures based on the article, but will still like to see the full details of the contract.
I just hope Fashola is not trying to sell the whole of Lagos to themselves? Time will tell.

Must you mention your village or compare your village with The Great of Lagos?

We are talking about Lagos State, not some Micky mouse state and Governor wannabee local government counselor.

Who gives a freeking damn about what some governor is doing in Akwa or what ever you call it?

Shouldn't you be telling me the number of white elephants and unfinished projects in Lagos state if you really wanna make a case?

Why sound so sarcastic! People have rights to use any part of Nigeria as example to buttress their points. In a forum like this, so long a thread is not derailed, points are argued for and against from all directions. For one to use another part of Nigeria as example means, he/she has travelled far and wide, and he/she is not holed up in one congested section of a NATION. Afterall, travelling is part of education.

The truth of the matter is that it will be impossible to say that the doctors that managed the case are not culpable.

Medical sector in Naija, just like many other sectors is in shambles, and that reflects the way medicine is practised there compared with better developed countries.

It is very sad indeed that the newborn had to end up with very severe damage. And like you pointed out, the damage is most likely not due to the scalpel cut itself, because the scalpel will not cut through the baby's skull into his brain. That can only happen if they did it intentionally or the doctor was severely intoxicated. The damage was probably due to infection of the wound and severe sepsis.

And they will be culpable for discharging a baby with an infected wound, poor management of the wound, and also trying to conceal these from the mother(if they did). Culpability with regards to the scalpel cut itself (if it is superficial) will be subjective depending on the panel that will review the case.

Obstetrics is a very sensitive specialty and even in advanced countries, they probably have the highest number of malpractice suits. However that does not excuse the very poor outcome in this case.

We need very major changes in the health policies in Naija that will affect, doctors, patients, government, hospital management etc, and until the Government pays more attention to these, we will continue to have these kind of things happening, with high infant mortality/maternal mortality rates.

Sometimes, I think we should keep pride aside, and see how things are done in other developed countries. That way, we would not lack behind.

Exactly what I raised the other day. I am not moved by the so-called first class being carried about these days by many, because some of them are not worth it. Who will you blame? Bad educational policy and poor infrastructure, used in teaching these medical students. Please visit all the colleges of medicines in Nigeria, and water will come out of your eyes, in 2010. Half-baked graduates everywhere.

Please all forgive me, but why is Jonathan biased? I have not seen Ibori's name being mentioned here, but the energy invested in arrested Ibori is alarming, when half of that, can be used to catch all those mentioned in this scandal. They are all free still walking the streets of Nigeria, even some are aspiring to become President of this nation.

Is Jonathan realy selecting those to deal with? Time will tell.

Investigation is always the best way to go.

The role of investigation is not for the sole purpose of serving justice. My personal opinion is that it should help us know exactly what went wrong so policies can be formulated to prevent such from happening.

I bet you many things would have gone wrong in this case and lots of people will be culpable in different ways and to different extents.

So, if we don't investigate properly, we will not know if there was no electricity in the operating theater and the hospital did nothing about it, or maybe the doctor was drunk, or even not qualified enough to perform the procedure, or it could even be the way the nurses handled the infected wound, or the negligence of the patient.

First thing wrong is that journalism in Nigeria is very poor, and the newspaper should not pronounce anybody guilty until investigations are carried out.

And like i said earlier, what we should clamor for is a proper, unbiased investigation and justice!

Guy, no one is against any investigation, becos it helps really in policy formulation. But have we really sat down to look at investigation, the Nigeria way?
What works in other countries, may not be suitable here, and vice versa. But how be it, investigation is universal. It is just unfortunate that, it has become a tool in the hands of those who suppresses justice, instead of the traditional tool for policy formulation, as earlier stated. Come to think of it, the only investigation here should be, tracing the actual person(s) culpable, as the doctors have even made the case easier.

Enjoyment1:

For the fact that, you and I have started discussing on this same issue, we have started analysing the possible cause of this situation. The only difference here is that, we are not privileged to conduct interviews, and ask questions and receive data from both ends. Investigation is good, but not in Nigeria. The report indicting IBB is still there, and no one has done anything (instead govt openly told us they dont have a copy of that report). The power sector probe report is ready, and no one has the detailed content of it. Even the one Nuhu Ribadu did on Bode George was jettisoned (that was before he too became corrupt and cleared Bode George). So please tell me, what investigation are you looking for in Nigeria, except you want suppress justice. They have openly admitted their fault, so what else are you looking for?

Fetal injury is a possible complication of ceserian delivery and the risks of this happening will increase if an emergency surgery, rather than a planned surgery is done.
http://pregnancy.emedtv.com/cesarean-section/fetal-injury-during-a-c-section.html

I provided this information because i can see that everybody has judged without trying to research facts.

Culpability in this case can't be determined until a full investigation has been done. And the guilty should be made to face the music.

So what i think we should call for should be a full unbiased investigation of this incident and less sentiments.

I have carefully gone through your presentation, and have not seen where it is made as a fact, that, such a colossal damage, should not be communicated to the parents of the baby immediately. No one here says, it is wrong that such issue came up in the course of operation, but where it is accepted as a mistake, and the parents are not officially aware, until they are compelled to admit, it is obviously wrong. They all should give up medicine for such inhuman act.

This is more like fair journalism. We all know that Sahara Reporters can be very over zealous sometimes, when reporting Ibori's case. I wished they always do same for their small gods, "Ribadu and El-Rufai"? NEXT Newspaper is even worst, when it comes to E-Rufai. I want to believe El-Rufai is a major shareholder there.

ROFLMAO!!! I have just had to learn to ignore the trash-talker and press on to make my point.

On the housing issue, I did have a debate with @Doyin23(I believe that is it) on the government needing to look into the issue NOW and not two or ten years from today when the population is expected to hit the 25 million mark. And I am glad to see that the government is not sleeping on the housing issue.

https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-431355.320.html

I must admit here too, there is serious need to look into Housing Policy in Lagos, before it gets out of hand. Your point is what we are suffering at MMIA, Lagos, and similar others scattered all over Nigeria. We dont have long term policies that have the future at heart, minding the fact, the population is growing. We are always in a hurry to attend to immediate pressing issues, without thinking about the status of those projects 15 to 25 years later, and at the same time, minding what is happening in other sectors. Keep the flag flying buddie.
