1. Camry transmission failure is rampant (associated with bad transmission oil) while the Accord's transmission is rock solid. The 2nd issue here is that the Camry's transmission is more expensive than the Accord.

2. Both engines are good but the Accord's engine over time experiences more crank shaft wear and i think is more expensive. The Accord's engine killer i learnt is the catalytic converter. All you can avoid by proper maintenance and reacting promptly to the expensive P1420 (catalyst efficiency below threshold). Also the Camry engine is known for shorting engine oil. Toyota engines will not forgive you if you drive without engine oil but Honda can survive the KO.

3. Camry doesn't fail boll joint but an accord will with serious abuse. Telltale signs will tell you when your ball joint is about to fail. (Squeaky sound while turning the steering and just before failure, steering becomes stiff and doesn't return to straight position).

4. Camry's AC is great but will fail sooner than later then frequent repairs will become a constant. Accord's AC can last the car's lifetime.

5. We all know Accord's are sportier in handling while Camry's are tuned to comfy. So City driving, Camry will be better while on the highway, Accord will be better.

My choice would be the Accord but your choice will be based on your preference. What sets the Camry behind for me is the interior and exterior design. If you are that person that doesn't even know when your car is due for service, you are a Camry guy but if you keep a service schedule, you will be good with the Accord.
