The reason Japan, the UK, Denmark, etc., buy the US-made Boeing and Humvees is not necessarily because they can't make them. It's because of that little matter we were taught in SS2 economics - comparative cost advantage. That is, it's cheaper to buy these things than to make them. You focus on what you're efficient at making and import those in which you have no advantage - that way, you make life livable for your people because to do otherwise would result in high prices that'll hurt the poor.

But if a Trump makes it such that importing no longer offers that comparative advantage, you're forced to look inwards. This is the mistake I think Mr Trump is making.

While it's hard to tell definitely, he will achieve some of his aims. But others will fall flat. The countries he's tariffing will tariff him back - and that's called a Trade War. He will be forced to spend billions bailing out some sectors that will be badly hit. Other countries will be badly hit too and some sectors will need bailout - China, Europe, etc. export a lot to America. In the end, if he doesn't back down, there will be realignments and things will eventually settle and countries will adjust to new realities.

and that means countries looking inward for balancing what the US provides. Those countries will end up gaining self sufficiency and eventually have no use for the USD

it does not actually make any sense to bring down the price of fuel down to 200. We will only bee feeding our neighbors. Although you can also attribute that to the government failure due to porous borders but any sane government that is yet to be confident in the border will keep the price at the mercy of the global market force. However, what they use the savings for is something else to discuss.

If 90% of Oyo is now occupied by Fulani, by all means, it is now Fulani land. If the UK deports the Yorubas back en mass and they all go back to Oyo and are welcomed back to the land by the Fulanis, they should abide by the new government in place as it was not the Fulanis fault they left to begin with.
