I for one knew this APC govt was going to win the 2015 election based on propaganda. To an average Nigerian, it's better you comfort him with lies instead of the truth. We certainly hate taking responsibilities for our mistakes but instead seek for who to put the blame on. Governance they say is continuous irrespective of who's in power or the party involved. seeing the current economic woes befalling our nation, we the citizens are readily wanting to put the blame on the previous government instead of ourselves forgetting the fact that when the whole world went into recession back then around 2009/2010 known as global economic meltdown no body knew and it didn't affect the daily running of the common man. In other words, we as a nation didn't feel the impact like other world nations. Yes, they may be corrupt (in politics, no body is a saint) but at least there was that enabling environment for people to strive irrespective of your background. Now things are hard and we blame the govt solely instead of the people to find ways to cope since we don't have the balls to face them to say ENOUGH. An average Nigerian wants to go to heavy without dying, they will be behind gingering you but once it's time for action they disappear into thin air forgetting that there's a price to pay for freedom... check the Arab uprising started with a boy of about 20yrs old or so. It took that singular act to topple the dictatorial regime of north africa. I won't talk bout the people now but bout the govt whose job is the make life at least worth living for her citizens. what brought this write up today is the plight faced by the common man especially those around abuja. Daily, residents troop out from the shanties and slums to irk out a living and make abuja what is it. How on earth would the govt ban tricycles popularly known as keke from plying the road without putting in measures to contain the actions. now take a look at those coming from gwagwa heading to Arab junction (which govt term as the last top for keke) which cost a measly #100 while in Lagos, that journey might cost #200 at most. and you ban them from coming close to airport junction which is almost half of the journey intimidating them with the Army, NDLEA, Prisons, VIO, FRSC, Police. abeg oo, we dey fight war? and they expect them to smile. when the land is plunged with unemployment and loss of jobs and they are hell-bent on worsening the situation. How will that father of 3 be able to contest with hundred of able bodied men in the hustle of #50 trip which the govt says is more than enough for an individual? ask any abuja citizen and they will tell you that they will be very happy to go back to the pre-APC era that at least they got their 3 square meals a day. In this case, the govt has been pushing us to our limit and knowing we Nigerian as all mouth and no action, they won't be worried. 2015 should have served as a caution to all public office holders that when the people get fed up, they will react through the polls since that's the only voice we got. we got 2yrs of suffering and smiling to go and I pray God sees us through.... Amen.. by Nwosu Harrison C. https://mobile.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1516358955049276&id=100000255573797&ref=opera_speed_dial&_rdr |

While Nigerians are still speculating the actual reason behind the sudden appreciation of the Naira over major International currencies since February 20, 2017 and Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) sudden change of policy, Mr Babatunde Gbadamosi, a Lagos Businessman and former governorship candidate, who exposed in details the monumental organized foreign currency fraud by the Buhari government and officials of CBN was arrested and still detained by the Department of Security Services (DSS) since February 22, 2017. In a social media video which went viral, Mr Gbadamosi frowned at the shabby practices where those that genuinely need foreign currencies for Business are not provided with any, while the President's allies and the cronies of CBN big-wigs are receiving them at ridiculous low rates of N3/$1. Every effort to secure Mr Gbadamosi's release has proved abortive. The DSS has ensure that no one visits or see the incarcerated voice of the Nigerian opposition in the secret detention center he was dumped six days ago and sources close to Hope For Nigeria within the secret police headquarters in Abuja are claiming that Gbadamosi was accused of blackmailing the Central Bank of Nigeria and the Government by releasing those classified information about forex sales. Regrettably, while Mr Babatunde Gbadamosi is languishing in DSS secret detention center for saving Nigeria from the forex mafia, Nigerians are giving the glory to the acting President Osibanjo who raised no finger in the new development where the CBN suspended forex sales to cronies and allies of President Buhari and sudden revert to the polices of the former President Goodluck Jonathan, where the Naira is protected with our external reserve. Re-echoing the concern of Nigerians including that of the former CBN governor and the Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido who revealed the operation of over 20 different foreign exchange rates by the CBN and some Nigerians making billions of Naira daily from their gardens trading dollar they bought at an alarming low rates, Mr Gbadamosi demanded that these sharp practices should stop in other for the country to survive the self-induced recession. Gbadamosi quoting various media sources in the Video, stated that the CBN was selling forex to some close allies of President Muhammadu Buhari for as low as N3 to $1 through what is called Bills of Collection. People where given Dollars with cold claims that their Form M was filled and submitted like 35 years ago but forex was not released. They cartel only has to claim that they made their importation in 1985 but forex was not released to you despite submitting duly completed Form M. With all documents perfected, the forex will then be released at the prevailing rate in 1985. They will get $3 million at N5/ $1 and selling to end users at say N480/ $1. The said customer will be making about N1.425billion in one transaction. He listed transactions by some individuals that got $4,327 at the rate of N23.34 to $1 through “credit card payment” for “invisible” purpose and under “invisible sector”. A bank also got $3,589.11 at the rate of N3.19 to $1 also for “invisible” purposes and under “invisible” sector. There was a transaction involving sale of $66.72 at the rate of N0.62 to $1. There was also a sale of $5.56 to a company at the rate of N0.61 also for “invisible” purposes. A particular transaction also involved the sale of $570.8 at the rate N3.17. In contrast, there was a company, who purchased $1,462,480.83 at the rate of N425 to $1. The document shows that individuals and companies got foreign exchange for purposes ranging from importation, PTA, school fees, “invisible”, family maintenance allowances, mortgage payments and medical travel among others. This video lead the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN), to query the CBN Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, demanding “prompt response” to the allegations of corruption in the CBN’s foreign exchange allocation and transactions. Multiple Petitions against the CBN indicated how some companies and individuals got foreign exchange in US dollars at the rates as low as low as N0.61 to $1 while others got it in rates that were as high as N470 to $1. Malami, in the letter, dated February 6, 2017, and with reference number, HAGF/CBN/2017/VOL.1/1, asked Emefiele to respond to the allegations “to enable us to advise the Presidency and take appropriate measures.” Titled ‘allegations of racketeering in the Central Bank of Nigeria; disparity in allocation of foreign exchange’, and addressed to Emefiele, the letter was delivered to the CBN governor’s office on Monday. The allegations in the attorney general's letter to Emefiele includes:- alleged corruption in the apex bank’s “foreign exchange allocation transactions. 2. questionable policy in CBN’s allocation and sale of foreign currency to Nigerians. 3. arbitrary allotment of different exchange rates for same purposes. 4. allocation of conflicting foreign exchange rates. The DSS has not charged Mr Gbadamosi after six days of arrest and they denied him medical attention, family visits and rejected the request for his lawyers to see him or be informed of the reason for his arrest. It is shocking to note that Nigerians are enjoying the appreciation of the Naira over major currencies and praising the CBN and the government that overseas the foreign currency fraud that almost crippled the Nigerian economy while the man who scarified neck for us, is under chain and locked up in secret detention center |

- FIFA has accused the NFF of mismanaging $801,000 funds - This was disclosed in FIFA's review on the use of Development Funds - NFF spent $150,000 on furnishing its new secretariat in Abuja FIFA has revealed it discovered "circumstances, which may indicate or lead to misuse of funds" which total $801,229 (N251,514,000m at bank rate of 314 naira to one dollar). The discovery was contained in the report on the 2015 review on the use of FIFA Development Funds which was carried out by audit firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC). FIFA believe NFF mismanaged funds The report which was obtained by Sahara Reporters, FIFA said it detected that the sum of $801,229 was spent by the NFF without evidence supporting the disbursement. In review, FIFA said the use of FIFA Development Funds could not be traced to supporting documentation or the use aligned with FIFA-prescribed purposes) or other non-compliance with FIFA regulations. The report which is tagged was shared with Fatma Samoura, FIFA Secretary-General; Patricia Waldvogel, FIFA’s Head of Consolidation and Compliance; Kjetil Siem, acting Chief Member Association Officer; Fredric Guillemont, FIFA’s Deputy Head of Development Programmes. The NFF executives notified are Mr. Muhammed Sanusi, General Secretary, NFF; Mr. Emmanuel Ikpeme, Deputy General Secretary, NFF; Christopher Anderkin, NFF’s Deputy Director (Finance and Administration) David Mason, FIFA Senior Relationship Manager; and Richard Thomas, Engagement Leader, PwC were also notified. The review was conducted from August 16 to 18, 2015 and the PwC team, which carried out the review, contacted Messrs. Atabo and Aderibigbe of NFF for information on the use of the funds. FIFA says the NFF must make refunds for any amounts which could not be accounted for. NFF Deputy General Secretary, Mr. Ikpeme admitted the NFF got many things wrong but tried to give excuses for how the sum was spent. According to Mr. Ikpeme, the problem associated with payment for planning and administration was caused by the exchange rate. “As at the time of making the payment, the exchange rate at the parallel market crashed alarmingly. That accounts for the difference in the sum reported, but all supporting documents are attached to the voucher,”he responded. This comes as a new low after NFF vice-president Shehu Dikko claimed the governing body spends N200m in each match the Super Eagles play. Shehu also blamed the sports ministry for the failure to pay the Super Falcons before their protests made it possible. https://sports.naij.com/1079016-fifa-reveals-nff-mismanaged-n251m-funds.html?_e_pi_=7%2CPAGE_ID10%2C9112769647 |
We are fighting kwaruffion |
The first time this budget analysis series ran was for the 2016 budget; and it becomes visible each day that the 1810 page document was a horrid, hurriedly-put, corrupt-conduit-filled piece of executive cluelessness. Well, since I’m more of a realist than any of the other-ists, I’ll just say that the fact that the world lost an entire tree to the making of the paper it was inked on is a tragedy. We have been given a sequel; the 2017 budget was presented to the National Assembly by the President in the presence of the ministers who drafted it—and even slept while the presentation was on—and it was called the “Budget of Recovery and Growth.” If you noticed, it is quite a change from the previous budget of change just like the government’s change mantra. Here are some quotes from the President’s speech on what when passed, will be arguably the most important document in the country—sorry, just checked and it is 63 paragraphs long so I will just skip to analysing the 2017 budget as we await the implementation report of the 2016 budget. The 2017 budget is N7.298 trillion. According to the government, this comprises of i. Statutory transfers of N419.02 billion; ii. Debt service of N1.66 trillion; iii. Sinking fund of N177.46 billion to retire certain maturing bonds; iv. Non-debt recurrent expenditure of N2.98 trillion; and v. Capital expenditure of N2.24 trillion (including capital in Statutory Transfers). We will begin with the State House budget, which is, 42,917,666,214. This almost double what the previous government budgeted for this in 2015 which was 23,465,865,117. Out of this, 19,970,000,000 is the total capital budget while the total recurrent budget stands at 22,947,666,214. The total overhead is 10,171,082,268 and that for total personnel is 12,776,583,946. This is the first piece in the #SaatahBudgetSeries2017, and I will be looking at the budget of the State House (which was referred to as Presidency in previous budgets). STATE HOUSE There are 16 agencies under the State House, and they are: State House Headquarters, The Office of the President, The Office of the Vice President, Office of the Chief of Staff to the President, Office of the Chief Security Officer to the President, State House Medical Centre, State House Lagos Liaison Office, Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS), National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS). Kuru, Bureau of Public Enterprises, National Emergency Management Agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Bureau of Public Procurement, Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission and its centres, and Office of the Chief Economic Adviser to the President which funny enough the President only appointed in August of this year. The first piece of shit I was hit with, ironically, was the “Sewage Charges” budget of the State House Headquarters” It was put at 52,827,800. That means 144,733 every day. That’s a lot of shit as far as the eye can see. Compare this with the “Sewage Charge” budget for 2015 which was 4,957,143 and for 2016 which was 6,121,643. This simply means the shit charge went up by 1050% compared with the 2015 budget, and 850% when compared with the 2016 budget. The 52,827,800 question I want to ask now is what exactly are they shitting there? The State House Headquarters budget for “Honorarium/Sitting Allowance” is 556,592,736. Let me remind you that the previous government budgeted 174,471,371 for same item in 2015, while in 2016, this administration jacked it up to 507,518, 861. The State House Headquarters still continues to budget for “Residential Rent.” This is something I have failed to understand up till now and I wouldn’t mind someone explaining it to me. That aside, the amount budgeted for this “Residential Rent” in 2015 was 22,459,575, while in 2016 it was put at 27,735,643. I don’t know how or why, but in the 2017 budget of “Recovery and Growth,” this same “Residential Rent” went up to 77,545,700. Whoever the Landlord of that State House Headquarters is, in this economy, he must be a very lucky and fortunate chap. There is an 8,539,200 budget for “Anti-Corruption” and I’m perplexed as to what exactly it is. The last time there was a budget for “Motor Vehicles” or anything like that was in the 2014 budget by the last administration and it was a total of 132,200,000. This government came in in 2016 and somehow concluded that the State House Headquarters did not have enough “Motor Vehicles,” so they started by budgeting 877,015,000 which was something like a 650% increase from the 2014 budget for the same item. The State House Headquarters still doesn’t think there are enough “Motor Vehicles,” so in 2017 they have budgeted a total of 197,000,000 for the purchase of “Motor Vehicles” and “Buses.” At this rate, by 2019, this government would’ve succeeded in buying enough “Motor Vehicles” to drive the entire country off the edge. 2016 will end up being one of the darkest years in this country in relation to power supply. So, I do not understand where the State House Headquarters got megawatts from in 2016 that they have now budgeted 319,625,753 for “Electricity Charge” in 2017. Just so you know, the “Electricity Charge” for 2016 was put at 45,332,433. The 2016 State House Headquarters budget for the “Rehabilitation/Repairs of Residential Buildings” was 642,568,122, while in 2017, I don’t know, but it looks like an enormous asteroid managed to hit and destroy the residential building at the State House Headquarters because what is budgeted for “Rehabilitation/Repairs of Residential Buildings” happens to be 5,625,752,757. As usual, knowing that we have travelling President, 739,487,784 has been budgeted for “International Travel & Transport.” Last year only the Vice President budgeted for books. This year neither the President nor his Vice budgeted for it. Apparently, they’re tired of reading. Just like in last year’s budget, the entire capital budget for the National Emergency Management Agency is for the “Construction of Office Building,” all 374,473,456 of it. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has budgeted 5,999,070,468 for the “Construction/Provision of Office Buildings.” In 2016 they spent 58,434,683 on that. If you do the math, that’s an increase of over 10,000% and qualifies as an economic and financial crime. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission also budgeted 230,536,000 for “Legal Services.” I don’t know if this is enough, but since they say it is; and as long as none of that amount goes to the case-bumbling, Twitter SAN, Festus Keyamo, no wahala. In 2016 the EFCC budgeted 93,136,000 for “Motor Vehicles,” but since maybe the corruption they should be fighting has gotten faster, they have upped that to 455,000,000. So if you had a plan of running away from the EFCC, I am sorry, they will have almost half a billion Naira worth of cars to chase you with. It is a car race now you know. There a line item in the EFCC budget that mentions the “Procurement and Upgrade of Microsoft Product Licences” which 142,237,198 was set aside for. This is as vague as something can get, and when it comes to corruptly enriching yourself, being vague is the best bet. In 2016 3,260,000 was budgeted by the EFCC for the “Purchase of Photocopiers” while in the 2017 budget 13,755,000 is the magic number. 1,100,595,088 has been budgeted for the “Furnishing of the New Head Office” whose construction cost in the 2016 budget was put at 7,912,502,911. Now, guess what. There is a budget for the “Consultancy of the Head Office Project” and 244,727,624 is budgeted for it. I am sorry; you will have to guess what again. Let me not stress you, 4,583,616,838 is budgeted for the “Completion of Ongoing New Head Office Building Construction” which 7,912,502,911 was budgeted for in 2016, bringing the total to 12,496,119,749. For those of you that numbers scare, that is over twelve billion Naira for the construction of the EFCC new head office. If the budget for the “Furnishing” of same building is taken into consideration, it becomes almost fourteen billion Naira. That is the anti-corruption model; build a fourteen billion Naira edifice to scare corrupt individuals and firms. The Bureau of Public Procurement has budgeted 52,957,485 for “Defence Software” and I find myself wondering when they became the Ministry of Defence. But things change, just like this government wants us to believe. I wish them a happy defence. In the course of going through the 2107 budget, I noticed a significant change. There no longer existed a column to show the state of a project. Previous budgets had the “New” and “Ongoing” tags designated to line items, and it made it easier to understand or rather follow the money. We might not know, but that little omission, which I believe was on purpose, has the ability to make corrupt practices invisible. The 2017 budget is beginning to look more like a shit-storm, but that shouldn’t be a problem because as you saw from the beginning, they started by budgeting generously for it. We have come to the end of the first part of my budget analysis; hopefully the second part will have something better to offer us. Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and Director of Radio Biafra, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu has threatened that he would expose secrets that are capable of sinking Nigeria. Kanu gave the threat at his resumed trial on Tuesday. In the Tuesday’s ruling, trial Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja granted the Federal Government the nod to shield identities of witnesses billed to testify against Nnamdi Kanu. Justice Nyako who held that names of all the prosecution witnesses who are mostly security operatives, would not be disclosed in any record of the court proceedings also said that the witnesses would be allowed to testify against the defendants behind a screen that would be provided by the court. Justice Nyako however stressed that both the defendants and their counsel would be allowed to see the witnesses who she said would enter and exit the courtroom through a special door. However, Kanu immediately rejected the court ruling, insisting that it was against the tenets of Justice and fair hearing. “I won’t stand this travesty of Justice. Buhari spoke in public, he accused me in public. I must also be allowed to stand my trial in public”, Kanu bellowed from the dock. “This is nonsense! I will give testimony before this court! By the time I finish, there will be no Nigeria. This is no Sharia court. It is a court that operates under the common law. “There will be no screening of witnesses, no fake identities or fake addresses. I cannot be tried in secret. No! Nnamdi Kanu cannot be jailed in secret! They are mad. Why must I be tried in secrecy by a government that does not obey court orders. “They are killing my people in public, after killing my people they want to try me in private? That person is mad. I won’t allow it. “, Kanu fumed. The IPOB leader is facing an11-count charge alongside three other pro-Biafra agitators, Mr. Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu and David Nwawuisi. Charges against the accused persons border on reasonable felony and their alleged involvement in acts of terrorism. The defendants had earlier alleged plot by the Federal Government to import foreigners to testify against them. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/12/biafra-will-expose-secrets-will-sink-nigeria-nnamdi-kanu/

The Lagos State Government on Thursday said it was ready to roll out Lake Rice on December 15 to residents at N13,000 per 50 kg towards the Yuletide celebrations. The Special Adviser on Food Security to Governor Akinwumi Ambode, Mr. Sanni Okanlawan, made the disclosure in Lagos during the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry National Agriculture Stakeholders Summit. Okanlawan said that sales of the rice would be made at all the 57 Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas in the state to ensure proper distribution. He said, “Lake Rice is the acronym of both Lagos and Kebbi States joint product which will be out to the public on December 15 at the rate of N13,000 per 50kg bag as it is already subsidised by the government. “To make it more available, the rice will be sold at the 57 LGAs and LCDAs for easy accessibility and to guard against unwanted persons diverting the product. “The state government has put in place a committee that will ensure that Lagosians have the best Christmas celebration, that is why we are offering the wholesome and well packaged rice.” The special adviser also said that the state had established a Department of Agribusiness, an Agriculture Trust Fund and Commodity Exchange Market to be set up soon. The government’s efforts were in alignment with the Federal Government’s diversification drive from a mono-economy to agriculture. One of the ponzi schemes in Nigeria, Ultimate Cycler has crashed, sending panic waves across many of its Nigerian members who have invested their money in it as well as those who have equally invested in others such as MMM. The ponzi website, Ultimate Cycler went down early Thursday morning, specifically around 10:30am(Nigerian time), shutting out every member who owns an account with it. When accessed, the site initially displayed an error line of code, before displaying ”Error 500” in bold letters, then it proceeded to display another message: “Be right back.We are currently updating the site to give you a more pleasurable experience and will be back online shortly. Our update estimation is to be complete over the next 6 – 12 hours. Thank you, Peter Wolfing.” Ultimate Cycler is a new ponzi scheme that followedMMM. This new money doubling scheme claims a promise of better returns on invested money than MMM. The hook for Ultimate Cycler is members get a return of N50,000 after paying N12,500 to a fellow member he or she registered under. As at the time of filing this report, the ponzi website has still not come to life. Dangers for members who have invested in it or others like MMM is that when such websites go down, chances are that it never comes up again and hence, “investors'” money goes with it. So, will Ultimate Cycler ever come back to life? This is question on the minds of every member. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2016/12/fear-grips-nigerians-mmm-others-ponzi-website-ultimate-cycler-crashes/ |

For many Nigerians who are on the search for greener pastures, a country giving them permanent residency is one of the goals they aspire to, because this makes getting work very easy. Surprisingly, there are many countries in the world where it is relatively easy to get a permanent residency, although many people do not know of these countries. Here are some of the easiest countries: 1. Belize Belize is a country on the eastern coast of Central America. If you have stayed in Belize for five years and you have a bank account balance of at least N800,000 every month you can be given permanent residency. The only reason you may not be given residency is if any of your parents is a citizen of a country that is at war with Belize. 2. Ecuador Ecuador is about equal in area to Nevada, is in the northwest part of South America fronting on the Pacific. To become a permanent resident in Ecuador, you need only N400,000 and a clean criminal record. Also, you can only be out of the country for 90 days in a span of 3 years. You also need to show that you earn about N320,000 per month and that you have invested N1 million in a CD from an Ecuadorian bank, or in real estate. 3. Seychelles The Seychelles is an archipelago of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean, off East Africa. To get a residency permit in Seychelles, all you need is about N5,000,000. Apart from that you must be contributing to the economic, social or cultural life of Seychelles in any way you can. 4. Panama Panama is a country on the isthmus linking Central and South America. The Panama Canal, a famous feat of human engineering, cuts through its center, linking the Atlantic and Pacific oceans to create an essential shipping route. To get a residency permit for Panama, you have to clear medical tests and have lived in the country for at least five years.Or you can get married to a Panamanian. 5. Paraguay Paraguay is a landlocked country between Argentina, Brazil and Bolivia, home to large swaths of swampland, subtropical forest and chaco, wildernesses comprising savanna and scrubland. To be a permanent resident, all you have to do is deposit about N2,000,000 in a Paraguayan bank account after you have stayed at least 3 years in the country. 6. Macedonia Macedonia is a landlocked Balkan nation of mountains, lakes and ancient towns with Ottoman and European architecture. If you’re an entrepreneur and are willing to invest at least N140,000,000 you can become a Macedonian citizen in less than a year. 7. Hungary Hungary is a landlocked country in Central Europe. Its capital, Budapest, is bisected by the Danube River. If you are willing to invest N105,000,000 in Hungarian Government Bonds.
