Travel / 9 Countries Where Nigerians Can Easily Get Permanent Residency by Harrisonwo(m): 6:41am On Nov 17, 2016
For many Nigerians who are on the search for greener pastures, a country giving them permanent residency is one of the goals they aspire to, because this makes getting work very easy.
Surprisingly, there are many countries in the world where it is relatively easy to get a permanent residency, although many people do not know of these countries.
Here are some of the easiest countries:
1. Belize
Belize is a country on the eastern coast of Central America. If you have stayed in Belize for five years and you have a bank account balance of at least N800,000 every month you can be given permanent residency.
The only reason you may not be given residency is if any of your parents is a citizen of a country that is at war with Belize.
2. Ecuador
Ecuador is about equal in area to Nevada, is in the northwest part of South America fronting on the Pacific. To become a permanent resident in Ecuador, you need only N400,000 and a clean criminal record.
Also, you can only be out of the country for 90 days in a span of 3 years. You also need to show that you earn about N320,000 per month and that you have invested N1 million in a CD from an Ecuadorian bank, or in real estate.
3. Seychelles
The Seychelles is an archipelago of 115 islands in the Indian Ocean, off East Africa. To get a residency permit in Seychelles, all you need is about N5,000,000.
Apart from that you must be contributing to the economic, social or cultural life of Seychelles in any way you can.
4. Panama
Panama is a country on the isthmus linking Central and South America. The Panama Canal, a famous feat of human engineering, cuts through its center, linking the Atlantic and Pacific oceans to create an essential shipping route.
To get a residency permit for Panama, you have to clear medical tests and have lived in the country for at least five years.Or you can get married to a Panamanian.
5. Paraguay
Paraguay is a landlocked country between Argentina, Brazil and Bolivia, home to large swaths of swampland, subtropical forest and chaco, wildernesses comprising savanna and scrubland.
To be a permanent resident, all you have to do is deposit about N2,000,000 in a Paraguayan bank account after you have stayed at least 3 years in the country.
6. Macedonia
Macedonia is a landlocked Balkan nation of mountains, lakes and ancient towns with Ottoman and European architecture. If you’re an entrepreneur and are willing to invest at least N140,000,000 you can become a Macedonian citizen in less than a year.
7. Hungary
Hungary is a landlocked country in Central Europe. Its capital, Budapest, is bisected by the Danube River. If you are willing to invest N105,000,000 in Hungarian Government Bonds.
Once you pay the money, you can get a permanent residence permit in Hungary within 2 months.
8. Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic is a Caribbean nation that shares the island of Hispaniola with Haiti to the west. You can get permanent residency in the Dominican Republic after staying there for at least two years.
Or if you don’t want to stay for two years, you can invest $200,000 in real estate or a business. Apart from that, you also have to show a steady income.
9. Russia
Russia, the world’s largest nation, borders European and Asian countries as well as the Pacific and Arctic oceans. In Russia, you’ve got to to become a citizen all you have to do is pay tax, learn Russian and pass the language test to get Russian citizenship.
Now which would you like to visit?

Politics / Donald Trump Snubs Buhari, Calls Other World Leaders by Harrisonwo(m): 2:44pm On Nov 11, 2016
Washington - Signs that Nigeria may have it rough under US President-elect Donald Trump have begun to manifest.
Trump has snubbed President Muhammadu Buhari by not reciprocating Buhari's congratulatory message to him.
Trump had within the first 24 hours of his victory called 10 leaders of other countries.
Buhari was among the first world leaders that congratulated Trump in Wednesday's presidential election.
Buhari in his message said he looks forward to working together with Trump to strengthen the already established friendly relations between both countries, including cooperation on many shared foreign policy priorities, such as the fight against terrorism, peace and security, economic growth, democracy and good governance.
But while Trump has responded to the messages of other world leaders, he has failed to acknowledge Buhari's gesture.
See the list of world leaders Trump has spoken to since he won the US presidential election.

A waste of precious time by the EFCC. Nothing will come out of it. Buhari's reaction to the allegations against his son-in-law will not be different from his other reactions on the allegations concerning Burutai and others who are his relatives or friends.

Crime / President Buhari’s New Son-in-law Under EFCC Investigation For N3billion Fraud by Harrisonwo(m): 5:00pm On Nov 01, 2016
57-year old Yau Kumo, a former managing director of the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria who last weekend married Fatima Buhari, President Muhammad Buhari’s second daughter, is under investigation for fraud, operatives of the Economic and financial Crimes commission (EFCC) said on Tuesday.
Mr. Kumo is alleged to have diverted loans and funds from the bank to fund the construction of a mega hotel in Gombe and the purchase of choice properties in Abuja.
The wedding ceremony last week was low-key as the president reportedly did not invite guests to the wedding as was expected. He reportedly claimed that as it was Fatima’s second marriage, it was not a big deal.
EFCC operatives told SaharaReporters they are investigating several petitions against the president’ son-in-law. They did not specify when he might be taken in for interrogation.
Mr. Buhari has openly stated that should any of his relatives be involved in corrupt acts, he will not shield them.
Also last week during his visit to Harvard University in the United States, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo stressed that in fulfillment of the law, the current government will not teleguide the anti-corruption agencies or interfere in their work. He was commenting on a question concerning when former president Goodluck Jonathan would be arrested, in view of the weight of corruption issues surrounding him and his officials.

Crime / Gunmen Assassinate Miyetti Allah Chairman In Kogi by Harrisonwo(m): 8:19pm On Oct 29, 2016
The chairman, Kogi Chapter of Wuro Miyetti-Allah Association, Ibrahim Abubakar, has been assassinated by unknown gunmen who invaded his residence in the early hours of Saturday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the unknown gunmen numbering about eight, invaded the Peace Community, Road 3, Ganaja road, Lokoja residence of Abubakar at about 2:05 Saturday morning.
Residents of the area, who spoke with journalists, said they heard gunshots from the residence of the chairman of Fulani socio-cultural group. The shots lasted over an hour.
They said the gunmen passed through “unfamiliar routes” to gain access to the deceased’s residence beating the ‘C’ Division Police Station route where they could have been spotted and questioned.
A neighbour who identified himself simply as Musa, said there were some strange faces in the vicinity much earlier before the incident, not knowing they had a sinister motive.
Musa said the gunmen shot at the door to the room of one of the deceased’s two wives and gained access into the house, machete the deceased on the neck and other parts of the body and later shot him severally.
A medical practitioner with the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, Sam Alhassan, who lives a stone throw from the victim’s residence said: “I was in my room which is just steps away to his house and I started hearing gunshots”.
“Then I rose up from my bed and looked through the window. I saw a group of bandits in two lines. At least I saw eight people, and they started shooting, shooting and shooting,” he said.
“The next thing that I saw was that a bullet hit the overhead tank and water started running down. Later I and my family went quiet for a while; then the wife of the deceased came out shouting, ‘they have killed my husband.”
Mr. Alhassan said he later came out with his landlord and went into the deceased’s house to ascertain the truth; only to find him lying in the pool of his blood with machete cuts and bullet holes in his lifeless body.
The medical practitioner said it was unclear if the gunmen took cash or property from the house.
He, however, called on security agencies to be proactive in crime prevention and detection mandate to avoid loss of innocent lives.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Williams Aya, told NAN that the command had got the report, adding that the incident was a clear case of assassination.
Mr. Aya said investigation into the matter had commenced adding that the Police was yet to make any arrest in respect of the assassination. (NAN)

Celebrities / Third Sex Tape Of Miss Anambra May Surface Soon —source by Harrisonwo(m): 3:09pm On Oct 29, 2016
There may be more trouble coming for dethroned Miss Anambra 2015, Chidinma Okeke, if the word of a source from Awka, Anambra State, holds water. The source who pledged anonymity said that the current trending video online is mild and alleged that Chidinma also engaged in more acts which lasted over one hour.
According to the source, the person releasing the video is not unknown to the former beauty queen as she has severally claimed. He said the whole episode is as a result of a deal gone wrong, a deal made between the beauty queen and one chief, whose name is being fiercely guarded.
In the words of the source: “First, this is an investment gone wrong. Chief (name not disclosed) sponsored Chidinma Okeke to win the pageant. Chief spent up to N 2million to ensure she emerged as the winner against other beautiful contestants. Chief also budgeted for her wardrobe and makeover pre and post beauty contest.
The money was released in trenches to Miss Anambra. Chief also took her to various countries including Germany where she met other models based on the contract terms which Miss Chidinma signed with Chief. “Part of the agreement stipulates that Chief would make her a big model and whatever proceeds that come during her reign would be shared as specified in the contract terms. Chidinma consented and signed the deal.
Our source said that Chidinma’s sponsor released just a part of the video after the former beauty queen reneged on their agreement after her victory.
“Chidinma emerged as the winner of Miss Anambra, got higher connections and wanted to opt out from the contract without repaying all the expenses Chief incurred. Chief warned of the consequences, but she remained adamant. Chief released a picture to her requesting she comply with the payment and remit the money she is holding before her tenure comes to an end. Chidinma feigned ignorance and even boasted that Chief cannot do anything.
It was alleged that she disclosed to a close friend that if chief tried to do anything, they would get him arrested. That was the beginning of the leak. Information available also claimed that the current trending video online is mild. That they have one showing longer sex action by Chidinma.
“Based on the above information, and the fact that Chidinma was a consenting adult as at the time the contract was signed, which reasonably supports the logic behind Chidinma’s silence towards naming the perpetrators; I will advise the family to quit the threat they are making to the man and settle this amicably off the media to avoid further embarrassment for my state, other ‘responsible’ beauty pageants because this is seriously casting them in bad light.”
However, Saturday Vanguard has not substantiated these claims as the real culprits have made themselves unavailable for questioning.

its true Nigeria is in need of critical infrastructures but the President had emphasized on the rebuild of north east, the fear now is that, will the President obtain loan just for a particular region left for the whole country to pay

Judging from the outcome of the NEDC bill, am sure they will support him on the loan since it will benefit the region and in one way or the other themselves.
My question, how will the country repay the loan because our debt profile is rising seriously.
I somehow support the PDP on this, what happened to the recovered loots?
Crime / Policeman Goes Unclad To Evade Arrest In Lagos by Harrisonwo(m): 6:08pm On Oct 27, 2016
There was drama at a United Bank of Africa (UBA) premises in Surulere on Thursday afternoon after a policeman who had followed a customer to extort her was caught pants down.

It was gathered that the policemen identified as Ogogor, who arrested a woman for alleged traffic offence had demanded N30,000 bribe from her, insisting that she would pay N50,000 should the matter get to the station.

He thereafter followed the woman who claimed to be out of cash to the bank in order for her to withdraw the N30,000 and give him, not knowing she had put a call across to a rights activist.

It was gathered that the unnamed activist contacted the Police Commissioner Fatai Owoseni, who deployed policemen to the scene with an order to apprehend the errant personnel.
But on getting to the scene, it was learnt that Ogogor first went under a vehicle parked within the premises but was dragged out by his colleagues who had been directed to fetch him.

“He became violent. When he was dragged from underneath the vehicle. He started tearing his uniform and went naked in public. He striped to his pant to avoid being arrested but some area boys came to assist the policemen who came from the CP’s office to effect the arrest and they dragged him into the police van,” said a source.

It was gathered that Ogogor was taken to the X-Squad unit at the police command, where he was detained and would be tried in orderly room.

Politics / PDP Kicks Against External Borrowing Of Of $29.960bn by Harrisonwo(m): 3:52pm On Oct 27, 2016
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has kicked against the planned external borrowing of $29.960bn, and movement of N180b appropriated for special intervention to funding of ‘critical recurrent and capital items’ by the federal government.
In a statement Wednesday, the spokesman of the party, Dayo Adeyeye said “We totally disagree with the APC led Federal Government on this latest
move, and call on President Muhammed Buhari to first and foremost explain to Nigerians what his Administration has done with the so called
‘recovered looted funds’ and how far the 2016 Budget is fairing.
He said President Buhari must itemize what he intends to finance with this proposed borrowing of almost $30b instead of lumping it up in a coded term, and to plunge the Nation’s future into burden of debt.
The PDP spokesman said
“this approach cannot be the preferred solution to the economic quagmire which this Government created due to ineptitude.
“This Government budgeted the Sum of N6.07trn for the 2016 Fiscal Year with deficit of N2.22trn and according to the breakdown, N1.8trn was
budgeted for Capital Expenditure and President Buhari is now seeking to borrow over N9trn ($29.960b) for ‘critical infrastructure’. This is
absurd and way outside the Government budgetary provisions for Capital Expenditure and must be rejected by all well-meaning Nigerians.
“Nigerians will recall that the Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, Alhaji Lai Mohammed in June 2016 made public through a press statement, an account of recovered looted funds between May 2015 to May 2016 amounting to the sums of N78.3b, $185.1m, £3.5m and €11,250m in
cash; while others were under interim forfeiture.
What happened to the recovered funds?Or is it the same funds the EFCC and DSS are planting in
houses of opposition figures and Justices instead of channeling it into the economy? In addition, the Chairman of Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu recently confirmed our position when he stated that the Commission recovered more money in 8 months than it recovered in 12 years.
“Nigerians need to know how much revenue government has been able to generate from crude oil, non-oil and independent revenue sources since assumption of office from May 2015 to September 2016. This clarification will boost confidence of Nigerians on the management of their resources especially in this period of recession before thinking of engaging in external borrowing.
“It is no gain saying that the APC led Federal Government has left no stone unturned in castigating the PDP’s 16 years as wasted even with its obvious achievements; one of which was getting reprieve from the Paris Club of Creditors. The APC led Federal Government is again taking Nigeria prior to Year 2005 when external debt burden derailed the growth of Nigeria economy and weakened the GDP before the total cancellation of her debt. This proposed action of the APC’s Government will be a great injustice to the citizens of this Country now and in the future if they are plunged back into debt.
“Let us state unequivocally, that history will not forgive this APC Government and its collaborators if they allow this injustice and maladministration to our economy and citizens to stand. We therefore call on the two Chambers of the National Assembly to reject this anti-people request by an anti-people government that has no genuine interest for the growth and development of the people of this Country.
“We again call on all Nigerians to speak with one voice and stop President Buhari from further destroying of our great Nation, Nigeria and by extension, Africa” he said.

Business / Customs Comb Lagos Markets For Smuggled Rice by Harrisonwo(m): 8:37am On Oct 12, 2016
Officials of the Nigeria Customs Service have stormed some markets in Lagos in search of smuggled rice.
Their efforts led to the seizure of about six trailer load of rice from shops at the Iddo Railway Terminus.
Some of the rice dealers, who spoke to our correspondent, complained that they bought the rice from people who brought them into the markets and had no way of knowing whether it was smuggled or not.
The owner of a shop where the NCS men reportedly seized 5,000 bags of rice was said to have collapsed and was rushed to a nearby hospital.
“The value of rice seized from her shop is over N60m and she took a loan from the bank for the business,” one of the dealers, who pleaded anonymity, told our correspondent.
The source said, “They swooped on the markets in the afternoon, brandishing guns. They locked up the shops and went away, only to come back in the middle of the night, around 2am to break into the shops and cart away all the bags of rice they found there. They came back to cart away more rice.
“Women are the ones selling in the markets, the Customs are supposed to be at the borders to prevent smuggled rice from coming into the country, but they allowed the rice to come in, only to come harassing traders with guns. We are pleading with them to return the rice to the traders.”
When consulted, the spokesperson for the NCS, Mr. Wale Adeniyi, said the organisation was empowered by law to impound any product suspected to be smuggled wherever such product could be found.
He said, “The rice was smuggled. We got information that the consignment was taken to a particular place and we went there.
“It is a message to smugglers that it is not just enough to bring goods across the border into the country; the goods can be seized even when they are in the country.”
Adeniyi advised Nigerians to desist from act of smuggling and go through the legitimate route to bring in their goods.
The NCS has maintained its ban on the importation of rice through the land borders.
The country consumes six million metric tonnes of rice annually. Local production accounts for less than 40 per cent, leaving a wide gap, which is filled by importation and smuggling.
According to the Federal Government, prices of rice which have risen to between N20,000 and N22,000 per 50kg bag from about N7,000 in 2015, are expected to come down in November.
The NCS has also set 2017 as a target to stop the importation of rice.

Politics / Salary Breakdown: How Senators, Reps Earn N6.78bn Annually by Harrisonwo(m): 9:27pm On Sep 04, 2016
At a time Nigerians are groaning under the yoke of recession, Members of the National Assembly (NASS) comprising the Senators and Members of House of Representatives have received a total sum of N6.78 billion as their official salaries and allowances in one year, investigation by Economic Confidential has revealed.
The report obtained by Economic intelligence magazine showed the ‘legitimate’ remuneration of the federal legislators in compliance to the statutory approval of the Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC). The remuneration packages include: annual salaries, accommodation, vehicle maintenance and fuel, Personal Assistants, House maintenance, domestic staff, entertainment and utilities allowances. Others allowances are; Constituency allowance, Annual Leave, Hardship allowance, wardrobe, newspapers and responsibility allowances.
A careful scrutiny of the report shows that each Senator has an annual salary of N2.02m while a member of the House of Representative receives N1.98mn as annual basic salary. The basic salary of the Senate President is N2.48mn while that of the Speaker of House of Rep is N2.47mn. Others are, 25 percent for wardrobe, 15 percent for newspapers and responsibility allowance of between 10, 7, and 5 percent respectively as the case may be on the position of the legislator. While each senator receives a whopping 250 percent for constituency allowance, member of House of Representative gets 100% for the same annually.
In all the senate alone numbering 109 senators gulped the sum of N1.85billion in the last one year, while the 360 members of the House of Representatives got N4.93 billion!
According to estimates from the report, there are Non-Regular allowances federal legislators are entitled to. They include furniture and severance gratuity which are due only once in four years. Other non-regular allowances include Estacode allowances which is paid in US Dollars for foreign trips and Duty Tour allowance which is paid in Naira for local trips within Nigeria.
Further analysis by Economic Confidential reveals that an average Nigerian worker with a minimum wage of N18,000 a month will have to work for four years before earning the utility allowance for one legislator. Unless the remuneration package is reviewed downward or upward by the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission, the legislators will continue to enjoy the current official salaries and allowances.

Politics / Fuel At N145/liter No Longer Sustainable, NNPC Says by Harrisonwo(m): 9:18pm On Sep 04, 2016
Former and present Group Managing Directors of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation have expressed fears that the current pump price of N145 per litre is no longer feasible.
They said the amount does not correspond with the price-determining components of the commodity and the fluctuations of the foreign exchange rate.
They stated this after a one-day meeting they held with the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, in Abuja.
The NNPC in its statement said, “They (the GMDs) noted that the petrol price of N145/litre is not congruent with the liberalisation policy especially with the foreign exchange rate and other price determining components such as crude cost, Nigerian Ports Authority charges, etc remaining uncapped.”
The declaration of the NNPC present and past bosses confirmed an exclusive report by SUNDAY PUNCHon August 7, 2016, in which oil marketers revealed that the actual or real cost of petrol was N151.87 when all the pricing components are adequately captured.
The marketers had stated that they were struggling to maintain petrol price at N145 per litre because of the stiff competition in the downstream oil sector, but stressed that the practice was not sustainable.
The GMDs, however, commended the NNPC for resolving the fuel supply crisis and urged the corporation to come up with measures that will ensure sustenance of seamless supply of petroleum products nationwide.
According to the corporation, the GMDs expressed concerns about the declining crude oil production level and its consequences on the environment and the nation’s revenue.
They further agreed that if the current situation remains unchecked, it could lead to the crippling of the corporation and the nation’s oil and gas sector which is the mainstay of the Nigerian economy.
The Nigeria Labour Congress, Trade Union Congress, Afenifere, former federal lawmakers, security experts and rights activists, however, warned the President Muhammadu Buhari administration not to contemplate any further increase in the pump price of petroleum products in the country
The General Secretary of the NLC, Dr. Peter Ozo-Eson, who stated this in an interview with SUNDAY PUNCH, said Nigerians would not accept further fuel price increment.
Ozo-Eson had warned the government earlier this week against increasing the pump price of petroleum products in the country.
He said, “We had given a warning before that Nigerians cannot take any further increase, that they shouldn’t do it.
“That remains our position, and if they go ahead and do it, it is up to Nigerians to say how they want to respond to it. But we remain opposed to any new increase in the price of petroleum product.”

I don't see heavy security men around him despite being outside government house. Shows he is safe among the people unlike Rochas who moves around government house with heavy security cycling his bike.

Totally waste of tax payers money. The strike zone was very different from where they hit. The number of BHTS there was even up to 10 and I didn't seen any hit. Check the video again, the targeted area has light vegetation but where was hitted has dense vegetation
