PoliticsKnow Your History. Ipob by hasyak(op): 12:37pm On May 29, 2022
This article (by Emeka Ugwuonye, Esquire) speaks volumes. When we sometimes pretend to be what we are not, things can never go right or well. Having said this, let me copy and paste a historical analysis by one prof. Ihechukwu Madubuike with the title "know your history" and let us rationalize it.

KNOW YOUR HISTORY.

*THIS IS SIMPLY THE REASON WHY HAUSAS, YORUBAS, EDO AND THE NIGER DELTA MAN WILL NOT TRUST THE IBO MAN AT THE CENTER AND WHY THE HAUSAS MAY NOT WANT TO RELINQUISH POWER IN NIGERIA*

Any historians in the house to vet this but no insults or character assassination please:

Forgotten History Of Igbo Tribe And Northern Alliance.

Do you know that when Tafawa Balewa was Prime Minister of Nigeria;

Chief of Army Staff was from SE
Chief of Naval Staff was from SE
IG of Police was from SE
Chief of Defence Staff was from SE
Internal Affairs Minister SE
External Affairs Minister SE
Education Minister South SE
Many other key ministries to SE
Parliament President SE
Unilag VC from SE
The University of Ibadan VC from SE
North resisted same at ABU!

Still, there was dissatisfaction by SE, the officers from the region killed this same Balewa!!!!

Out of all the most senior officers in Nigeria, SE has 37, none was killed. 8 from the north, all of them were killed. 10 from the west, 2 were killed.

Then Ironsi imposed a unitary system of government on the country so that everything can belong to a region who snatched it!

We must know our history so that when we want to make corrections, we will not end up concealing the truth. This has nothing to do with tribalism but everything to do with the truth.....at times when lies litter the streets. There is a tendency to think those are truths and facts.

*What follows are documented facts that can be cross-checked for authenticity!"*

Thou shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.

*“Prof. Ben Nwabueze was the man who drafted the constitution that took away powers from regions and handed it to the central government because his brother AguiyTHEORY WOES IN NIGERIA TODAY:

The Igbo man is known to enjoy blaming the Hausa fulanis, Yorubas and indeed every other Nigerian tribe and Lord Luggard/Britain for their seeming claim of being in third class citizen status in Nigeria. In their perpetual attempts to play the victim card, they recount the political events of Nigeria from 1914 to the present in a half-baked and highly selective manner which cleverly avoids the mention of the roles played by their elite who by all natural laws of judgement were actually responsible for the woes that befell not only the Igbo race but the entire Nigeria nation. The story told in the post above is one of such selective and distorted accounts of history which the average Igbo man is fond of narrating.

However, the national archives have the complete and unedited history of Nigeria regarding the political events beginning way back from even before 1914. I will therefore proceed to furnish my readers with the complete story for all to read and be endowed with enough facts so as to judge and act from an informed position.

Shortly after the 1914 Amalgamation of the Northern and Southern Protectorates, it started getting clear that the country was bound to fail as the amalgamation in question was done with colonial fiat without the consent and consensus of the different tribes which were over 300. This prompted the political leaders to start asking for de-amalgamation so as to forestall the future danger which the forced amalgamation portended.

To that end, Ahmadu Bello, speaking on behalf of the Northern protectorate in 1944 described the amalgamation as "The mistake of 1914 which if allowed to remain will ultimately lead to unstoppable bloodshed and a failed country".
Awolowo, speaking on behalf of the Yorubas and Western minorities, described Nigeria as a mere geographical expression not qualified to be called a country let alone a nation. Awolowo added that if the amalgamation could not be reversed, then Nigeria should be structured as a strictly federal state so as to enable each tribe enjoy autonomy this freedom from being dominated by any one single tribe.

But Nnamdi Azikiwe, speaking for the Igbos, denounced Awolowo and Ahmadu Bello, terming them ethnic champions. He accused them of nursing a sectional agenda against the unity of Nigeria, and he declared further that the Unity of Nigeria was non-negotiable.

After moving the motion for independece in 1953, Anthony Enahoro proposed that a secession clause should be incorporated into the future constitution of Nigeria so as to give legal backing for any tribe to peacefully exit the forced union if it feels marginalized in future. According to Enahoro, such provision in our constitution would instill in all Nigeria's future leaders the fear of the consequences of misgovernance. But Azikiwe, speaking on behalf of Igbos, rose against him in the parliament and labelled him an agent of disunity, and enemy of Nigeria. At a later date, Awolowo too made a case for secession clause, but Azikiwe again resisted him and instigated the colonial authorities to threaten him and Enahoro with charges of treasonable felony if they didn't stop proposing secession clause for the future constitution. While Azikiwe did all these, Igbos cheered and urged him on because they felt the future Nigeria was theirs to dominate and lord it over every other tribe

Before independece, Tafawa Balewa too had in a public speech described Nigeria as a British experiment and Nigeria's unity as a British intention which Nigerians themselves don't believe in. But Azikiwe kicked and demonized him too. Had Azikiwe co-operated with Enahoro, Awolowo, Ahmadu Bello and Tafawa Balewa about the secession clause, Nigeria perhaps would not have been this misgoverned.

For those in doubt, here is a link of one of the numerous instances in which Nnamdi Azikiwe fought against the secession clause proposal for the future Nigeria constitution.

Igbos initially never wanted to hear anything like secession in Nigeria because they so much believed, though falsely, that they were the most educated tribe. (The first Nigerian tribe to produce a university graduate is the Binis). As an evidence of Igbo domination agenda hence their initial resistance to the idea of secession; here are some quotes:

"From all indications, the god of us Igbos have destined us to rule the whole of Africa"..... Nnamdi Azikiwe (1945).

"It is getting clearer each day that Igbo domination of Nigeria is just a question of time"... Oscar Onyeamma. (1949). Anascopeterson: As at 1900, the whole of the present Benue State, Kogi East Senatorial District and some southern parts of Taraba State called Munchi District back then; were all in the Southern Protectorate. Whoever doubts this should consult MacMillan Atlas for secondary schools in Nigeria. With that situation the South had a higher population than the North hence always had an upper hand in any democratic bargain.

But as at the early fifties when the regions were being created, common sense dictated clearly that these areas should fall in the future Eastern Region. But against common sense, the colonial masters decided to gerrymander them into the Northern Region. While they did that, Azikiwe who was supposed to be in Enugu fighting against it as the leader of the East, was far away in Ibadan struggling with Awolowo to rule the Western Region and also playing the spoiler role against Awolowo's attempts to have Kwara and present Kogi Yorubas carved into the Western Region from the North which was already too large by landmass.

While he abandoned his burning house and was far away in Ibadan struggling against Awolowo for his own (Awolowo's) region, Igbos saw absolutely nothing wrong with that. Rather they applauded him as a nationalist. A nationalist whose house was burning yet busy chasing rats in a far away land.
When opinions became unanimous that Lord Luggard and his government must be forced out of Nigeria and indeed the whole of Africa, it was still the Igbos that frustrated the attempts. Here is how:

In 1948, Anthony Enahoro organized an anti-colonization symposium in Lagos for which Azikiwe and some other Igbos had agreed to deliver the keynote address. But when the D-day came, Azikiwe was nowhere to be found as he deliberately disappeared into thin air for fear of being arrested and dealt with by Lord Luggard. Anthony Enahoro then quickly replaced Azikiwe with another person who did the job improptu but perfectly well as he lambasted and lampooned Lord Luggard and the British Government. However, the British soldiers invaded the symposium venue, arrested the speaker and Enahoro and jailed them for treasonable felony. Ironically, the next day Azikiwe came out of hiding and granted a radio interview in which he accused Enahoro and the other organizers of suffering from youthful exhuberance.

On regaining his freedom few weeks later and being told of Azikiwe's radio interview, Enahoro resigned from his post as Editor of Azikiwe's newspaper - The West African Pilot.

Then he wrote a book titled "Nnamdi Azikiwe: Sinner of Saint". After launching the book, Enahoro left Azikiwe's party - the NCNC, and moved over to Awolowo's Action Group.

The first military coup in Nigeria was carried out by majority of Igbo army officers. That was the coup that truncated democracy just six years post Independence and led to a succession of coups which put the country on the reverse gear for 33 years.

Through that first coup, those Igbo army officers who accused the politicians and government of the day of monumental corruption, killed the political leaders of the Northern, Western and Midwestern Regions but allowed all Igbo political figures to escape by tipping them off prior to the D-Day. In addition to the killing of political figures, they also killed a total of 27 innocent high ranking military officers from every region except their Eastern Region.

In the end an Igbo man called Aguiyi Ironsi, who was supposed to have been killed alongside other military officers, ended up becoming the new military ruler of Nigeria. Rather than immediately arrest and punish the coup plotters, he kept them in detention where they were treated as heroes. This was actually what sowed the seed for the eventual Biafra War. On the 23rd of February 1966 (i.e. a month and 8 days after the first coup porpularly but wrongly known as Nzeogwu coup, an Ijaw born Army officer called Isaac Adaka Boro who hailed from Kaima town of present Bayelsa State, declared the secession of the Niger Delta Republic in an attempt to free his Ijaw people from the monumental marginalization they had been suffering under Igbos in the old Eastern Region.
But Aguiyi Ironsi immediately ordered Colonel Odumegwu Ojukwu to arrest him and hand him over to the military high command under him in Lagos. Ojukwu went all out against Isaac Adaka Boro with federal military might and within 12 fighting days killed 150 Isaac Boro's soldiers, arrested him, stripped him naked, and had him driven to Lagos and handed to Ironsi who immediately charged him to court and within two months secured against him a conviction of treasonable felony for which he was sentenced to death by hanging fixed for December that year by the Supreme Court. His 'crime' was that he declared secession of The Niger Delta Republic from Nigeria. Meanwhile the Igbo coupists who shed innocent blood of other tribes and even sprayed bullets into the bellies of the pregnant wives of Ahmadu Bello and Brigadier Shodeinde were not charged to court or arraigned before any military tribunal.

Isaac Adaka Boro was in detention waiting for December to come for him to join his ancestors. But God so kind, a revenge coup happened on July 29 by Northern soldiers and Ironsi was overthrown and killed. Gowon took over and released Isaac Adaka Boro unconditionally, reinstated him into the Army with his previous rank.

Then on May 30, 1967, Ojukwu too declared secession of Biafra Republic from Nigeria and without consulting or apologising to Isaac Boro, drew a Biafra map which included the very areas that made up Isaac Adaka Boro's earlier declared Niger Delta Republic for which he fought against him and killed his soldiers. Seeing such level of arrogance in Ojukwu, Isaac Boro asked Gowon to provide arms for him to crush Biafra by fighting on the Nigerian side in vengeance for Ojukwu's frustration of his own secession declaration 15 months earlier.
Isaac Boro, as an Ijaw man conversant with the waterways, led the Nigeria Army through the coastal areas into Igboland to finish off thousands of Ojukwu's soldiers thus leading to the crushing defeat of Biafra. But today, Igbos accuse Ijaws of betraying them in the war. But from the facts as above, who really betrayed the other in all honesty? Be the judge. Why Gowon fought against Ojukwu's declaration of Biafra was as follows:

After Ironsi and Ojukwu successfully crushed Isaac Boro's Niger Delta Republic declaration, Ironsi immediately proceeded to promulgate the Anti-secession Decree which made the mere mention of secession from Nigeria punishable with death by hanging. Ojukwu openly supported and endorsed the decree despite disapproval of it by the general public. So when Ojukwu later declared Biafra secession, he was reminded of the Anti-secession Decree made by him and his brother Ironsi.

Deadly Truth: Igbos frequently reference Aburi Accord to create the impression that the rest of Nigerian tribes don't honour agreements. This is a very dishonest narrative from Igbos.

First and foremost Aburi Accord was organized by soldiers and unelected civil servants who should not participate in political exercises like making laws due to the civil service anonymity principle. Secondly, those civil servants and military men in attendance were not elected by their federal constituencies to the Aburi summit. In the philosophy of democracy the only universally acceptable way of making laws is through duly elected representatives of the people. But in going to Aburi the peoples' representatives duly elected in the 1965 elections were all sidelined for soldiers to hijack the process. Where on earth do soldiers make laws for the people? Rather, the civilian populace makes laws that guide the military. Aburi Accord therefore had no seal of the people's sovereignty hence it was an illegality which shouldn't have been allowed to stand.

Thirdly, in 1957, Nigerians from all federal constituencies democratically elected representatives whom they sponsored to London, paid their flight tickets and hotel accommodation for the Independence constitutional conference. Those representatives all resolved and agreed on federalism marked by regional autonomy and resource control in the Independence Constitution which they brought back home and everyone accepted it.

In that constitution, Nigerians all agreed that on no account shall the military take over power. It was also clearly stated in it that ammendments to it could be done by only democratically elected representatives.

That constitution was the first ever agreement between all Nigerians. On the day of his inauguration as the Army GoC, Aguiyi Ironsi stood before the whole world and with his own mouth swore to protect and defend that sovereign Independence constitution regardless of the circumstances that may later arise. But just six years after he manufactured an excuse to clinch power against the clear provisions of that constitution we all agreed to, unilaterally began to amend its provisions with his very offensive Decrees, and ended up dismantling the federalism and resource control therein, and ultimately subverted that constitution we all painstakingly sacrificed to draft. That was the height of Irresponsibility and the dishonoring of sacred agreement. That was how Igbos breached the first agreement, all Nigerians, ever all mutually consented to, thus laying the foundation for violation of future agreements.

So Aburi Accord was only treated exactly the same way Igbos treated the Independence constitution agreement.
Anascopeterson: Obasanjo removed history from the school curriculum hence the reason why many of what we know of the eventualities in Biafra war were altered to suite their narratives.

Anytime i hear or watch NNAMDI KANU talk i never take it serious but only as a noisemaker.

Thank God for this author. The Lord will bless him for us all! Everyone needs to know this for real. Knowing the truth sets free. We need healing as a Nation. We need to face facts, admit the stupid errors of history and eventual forgive ourselves for the sins, enormous sins committed by our forefathers. Love covers a multitude of sins.

The PRP

The origin of the Peoples Redemption Party goes directly back to the establishment of the National Council of Nigeria and the Cameroons (NCNC) on 26th August, 1944. The NCNC was the first political party to attempt to mobilise ordinary people in all parts of Nigeria, and to organise and channel their grievances against British colonial domination.

The establishment of the NCNC in 1944 was followed by the General Strike of 1945, which lasted for 44 days. This strike was led by Michael Imoudu, who was a member of the NCNC’s executive council, and who later became the Deputy National President of the Peoples Redemption Party, in 1976-1983.

The NCNC led the nation-wide campaign tour of 1946 to mobilize and obtain the mandate of ordinary Nigerians to lead a delegation to London to protest against certain provisions of the Richard’s Constitution considered to be obnoxious. This led to the emergence of the Northern Elements Progressive Association (NEPA), in Kano, on 1st December, 1946 as-the first political party from Northern Nigeria.

The emergence of a political party with such a radical outlook as NEPA in Kano, whose leaders (like Habib Raji Abddalah, Abubakar Zokogi and Abdulrahman Bida) were openly associated with the Zikist Movement, shocked the British. The British moved swiftly to disband NEPA by dismissing those of its leaders, and members who were government workers. Consequently, most of the NEPA leadership moved to Lagos and joined the ranks of the Zikist Movement where they intensified their nationalist activities.

It was in this context that the Northern Elements Progressive Union (NEPU) emerged and was launched in Kano, on Tuesday, 8th August 1950. The party took off as a Northern-based political party, with a deeply Nigerian nationalist outlook. It was rooted in the peasantry, the working class, and in such other suppressed strata as craftsmen, nomads, tradesmen and other petty producers.

The NEPU won elections into councils, regional legislatures and the Federal legislature in the North during the period 1950 to 1966. The onset of the civil war and the attempt to balkanise Nigeria in 1966-70 was a major setback to these efforts.

However, on resumption of party politics in 1978 the old NEPU re-emerged as the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), and was launched on 28th, October, 1978, under the leadership of Mallam Aminu Kano. The twenty one who attended the inaugural meeting of the PRP included S. G. Ikoku, Una Akpan, Dr. Kolabogbe, Balarabe Musa, A. D. Yahaya and others.

The Military coup of December 1983 did not terminate this political movement, which by then had been engaged actively in almost four decades of struggle for independence, unity and democracy, and had got deep roots in the country. During the period 1978 to 1999, the PRP won elections into local government councils, state Houses of Assembly, Governorships, Federal House of Representatives, and the Senate.

The Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) is today Nigeria’s longest surviving political party. The Party and the political movements which it represents have survived many military proscriptions and civilian oppression and exploitation. And it is still going strong.

THE PRINCIPLES OF THE PEOPLE’S REDEMPTION PARTY

We, the members of the People’s Redemption Party of Nigeria, believe in five fundamental principles. These five principles constitute the foundations on which our party exists; the pillars upon which our party firmly stands, deeply rooted in the history of our country; the cement which binds us together in our struggle for the redemption of our people and our country; as the ideals which give us a sense of common purpose; and the beam of light illuminating our path towards our vision of the future of our great country. These five fundamental principles of the People’s Redemption Party arc:

I. Value and the Equality of Human Beings

We believe in the human being as the most precious thing in the world, above all wealth and material objects; in the sacrosanct nature of human life; in the collective nature of human existence, in which every human being is unique and has equal rights and duties. And as an individual, he and she are primarily social beings who are members of families, members of communities, and citizens of nations, and links in the chain of succeeding generations of the dead, the living and the unborn, with the fundamental human right to the conditions necessary for the creative development of his and her human potential to the fullest, free from all forms of discrimination, degradation, oppression and exploitation.

II. The Power of the People

We believe in the inalienable democratic rights and duties of the people to fully, and purposefully, participate in exercising their sovereign rights to decide how they are governed and to elect, hold to public account and remove those who govern them, and to actively participate in determining the direction and content of the political, zeconomic, social, and cultural structures, policies and practices shaping their lives and destiny; and to resist (by legitimate means) any attempt at the violation of these rights. We believe that it is only by the exercise of this right, through the power of a conscious, organized and vigilant people, that any form of human development can be achieved and sustained.

III. State Control of the Economy

We believe that the building of a prosperous and self-reliant national economy has to be on the basis of just social relations of production and exchange, with the democratic state playing the leading role in ensuring that our domestic productive capacity, and the national currency, are developed, modernized and strengthened; and all the human and natural resources of the nation are identified, cherished, utilized and renewed, within the framework of long-term national planning; and that everyone receives fair and adequate returns for their mental and manual labor and legitimate private enterprise, with the aim of constructing a new social order on the basis of the principle of ‘from each according to his ability to each according to his work.’ We believe also in the mainstreaming of the Working People, Worker’s Organizations, Popular Groups, Women, the Youth, and Persons Living with Disabilities in Nigeria’s political and economic process.

IV. Genuine Federalism

We believe in the forging of Nigerian national unity on the basis of justice and equitable political, social and economic opportunities for all citizens, within a genuinely federal system of government in which our diversity is recognized and cherished and which promotes a national sense of belonging and of a common destiny, through the elimination of all unequal and unjust relations of hegemony and monopoly of office and assets between and within ethnic groups, whenever they exist. We are equally committed to the prevention of religious and ethnic strife, through sustained democratic community action and a strong purposeful defense of the fundamental human rights of all citizens, wherever they are.

V. Total Liberation from Imperialism

We believe that the defense and promotion of our national independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity,
economic survival and development, requires the total liberation of our country, and the rest of Africa, and the world from the chains of old and new forms of imperialist domination, including those being imposed through the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and such other international capitalists organizations. This in turn requires the forging of the unity of all patriotic political organizations across the continent, and the world in order to renew and revitalize the pan-African vision, commitment and action, and to use this to contain and end civil wars and other violent conflicts, and to institutionalize peace and democracy and accelerate regional and continental economic and political integration. We are committed to solidarity with the peoples and governments of Asia, the Pacific, South and Central America, Western Europe and the Caribbean, in order to bring about a new and just international economic order, based on mutual respect and cooperation among nations and which promotes the sustainable use of the natural environment and world peace.

Foreign AffairsA War Is Never Fought & Lost Until The Will To Fight Ceases by hasyak(op): 11:58pm On Aug 26, 2021
Copied
As seen on Kadaria Ahmed's Facebook wall.

A war is never fought & lost until the will to fight ceases.

The Afghan military has superiority in numbers, better training, sophisticated equipments, gears & logistical support. But they could not put up even a 24 hours fight in defence of Kabul. They just melted away into the frantic crowd fleeing Afghanistan.

The day the Nigerian military loses the morale & will to fight for a largely ungrateful people that make a mockery of their daily bloody self-sacrifice is the day Nigeria will cease to exist & we will all end with it.

Our police force has being a deliberate target of destruction by the enemies of this country. Since the endsars, they have continued to bleed the police with a thousand cuts.

Unprovoked killing of police officers, burning down their stations, destroying their vehicles/equipments & digging up dirts against their best hands & brains while we applaud have left the police wounded, bleeding profusely & presently without the will to fight criminals.

We are left only with our military which has equally come under heavy attack by the enemies of this nation who are cheered on by an unvigilant population blinded by sponsored idiotic hate for a 78 year old man!

Let's take away our idiotic hate blanket covering our minds for a moment & imagine what will happen when we wake up one morning to hear that our troops have all deserted their positions.

The President will leave to a life of luxury retirement with his family to a rich Arab nation as a permanent guest of the King & probably get a UN job as an international mediator or something because of his transparent honesty & sincerity of purpose.

Top government officials, civil & public servants, rich business men, politicians & Nigerians with dual passports will slip away to foreign lands with their families.

Nigerians with sense, knowing what will follow will sneak away into neighbouring countries before they slam their borders shut because no country needs refugees of 200 million lawless stiff-necked people steeped in corruption.

Nigeria will be carved up by criminals & terrorists & the country will be one huge battlefield as these warlords fight to control territories & resources.
Bokoharam will take over North East & will be in constant battle with bandits who have carved out & control territories & resources of the North West. The battle for Zamfara by bandits & Bokoharam to control gold mines will be the fiercest.

The ethnic militias fighting under religious banners in the North Central will carve up the area & rule them as tiny 'theocratic' kingdoms while the Berom militia will try to assert overall influence in the region but their expansionist interests will be met with bloodshed by the Nupe, Tiv, Igala & Jukun militias etc.

Benin republic seeing the chaos & sensing an opportunity for influence & control will make a deal with Igboho for free open borders, then release him & offer him all the logistical & military supports he needs to take over South West.

Niger Delta militants will carve up the South South. Asari, Ateke, Boy Loaf, Tompolo etc will slug it out for control though Tompolo seems to have an edge.

IPOB will take over the South East & within 6 months will break into 5 factions with each faction controlling a former South East state & there will be constant war as the factions fight it out among themselves & with Niger delta militants for control of oil fields & oil facilities as well as corridors to the sea.

You only need to look at a once prosperous Libya & Somalia to get a real life picture of the scenario we are fervently working to create here in Nigeria with our blind contrived hate over nothing.

What will be your hope & gain as we are wittingly & unwittingly helping the enemies of our nation to destabilise this country into irredeemable ruin by our daily ridicule, denigration, mockery & demoralization of our military that has shown gallantry in the fight against local & foreign forces that continue to amass strength to destroy us?

Yes, why help our enemies to destroy our military that has shown bravery & uncommon love to fatherland by sacrificing their lives, the love of loved ones, the comfort of their homes & the future of their families to keep us safe from a thousand battle fronts inside our country & outside at our borders sponsored by the enemies of this nation & which are all threatening to swallow us all.

Only a hate doped fool looking for reasons to cry when no one is beating him will not realize that our gallant & patriotic military is the only thing we have keeping Nigeria & if it goes, we will have that cry we have been looking for since 2015 to the fullest until there will be no water in our body to form tears again!

I told her CV I had a nice trip, since all my thoughts since I left home was about her. She smiled and said what are my thoughts on her all about? Since I will not like to start our relationship based on lies, I will tell you the truth, am here to propose to you if you will marry me. She looked straight into my eyes for a while and said are you serious? I replied, unless you want me to lie, then I will say am not.

She kept looking straight into my eyes expressionless, l felt naked as if she could read my mind, then she smiled and said we just met, you don't really know me, and I don't know you either, I think we need to know ourselves better before we start talking of such. I told her I understand her position, I felt that way earlier but when my mother insisted I propose, I felt it's ok. So that you know my thoughts from the beginning. I already know your thoughts she replies, from the first day i saw you, I have had a strange feeling about you, but it just nor clear what it is yet, I think we need time to get to know ourselves better.

I will like to ask you some questions, for start prove to me to you are serious? I was thinking wondering what will I say or do to show am serious, for a while I was confused, didn't know what to say or do to prove am serious. Then I remembered the ring my mum gave me and felt relieved, put my hand in my pocket brought out the ring and handed over to her...

CrimeWhy NIGERIAN SARS Are KILLING People by hasyak(op): 8:17pm On Oct 13, 2020
Copied, but i totally agree with this..

WHY NIGERIAN SARS ARE KILLING PROPLE

1. Majority of Nigerians irrespective of tribe or level of education have the SARS attitude.

It is often said that if you want to know who a person really is, give him power.
That cannot be truer than in Nigeria.
Nigerians are simply really reckless with power, no matter how little.
You better pray not to have a Nigerian have some advantage over you in any way, or require his/her assistance,
Your life could become hell for no reason at all.

2. Recently, I walked into a Nigerian post office to claim a parcel,
The ‘big’ woman behind the counter took a long look at me and bellowed from her nose ‘what do you want?’,
The nasty way she spoke almost had me fleeing through the nearest exit.
Yet, it wasn’t that I had met her before or offended her prior.

My only offence was that I was a Nigerian like her seeking her services.
She was just being the typical Nigerian with advantage or power.
She was just being like the rest of us.

3. Have you walked into our hospitals?
Did you observe the manner senior doctors address their junior doctors and their patients?
Or the way older nurses treat younger nurses? The way nurses attend to relatives of sick people?
Or the way and manner our pastors speak to and relate with their congregations?
Or the way Nigerian families treat their maids?
Or the way our lecturers harass their students and being extremely mean to them?
Or the way bus conductors and drivers address their passengers?
Or the way drivers cuss at and curse at other drivers in a traffic?
Or the way our airport staff handle travellers?
Or the way policemen and women treat drivers and highway users?
Or the oppression bosses mete out at work to those under them?
Or the way politicians treat their fellow Nigerians?

4. Nigerians are simply not civil.
Treating your fellow human beings with dignity and respect is what is called civility.
When you are brute, disrespectful and unrefined in your dealings of others, you are said to be uncivil or uncivilised.
An uncivilised person is not better than cave men, brutes, or at best an animal.
Civilisation is mainly determined by how people speak and treat each other in a society.
You are not a human being until you respect those below you same way you respect those above you.

5. Nigerians, we are not civilised.
We behave like animals when handed power or advantage, even if it is very little.
If a Nigerian is a quarter mile above you, he will ‘show you’
We lack civility at every level in Nigeria.
This disease affects both educated and non-educated Nigerians.

If you dare step a foot on a Nigerian, you could be making the mistake of your life.

6. I schooled for a while in Europe.
Everyday, I had to go to class through the metro system which was often so busy especially during the rush hour.
If you by mistake step your foot on a European during rush hour, he is likely to look back and apologise to you.
That happened to me a number of times.
Yes, you read that correctly.
He didn’t march a foot on me, I did, yet he chose to apologise because he is civil.
Yet I could only dream what my fate would have been had it been in my beloved Africa.
Slaps and curses would have been my options.

As students in Europe, our teachers would appreciate us profusely for coming to class.
They count it a privilege to tutor us.
It was same attitude with doctors, nurses, taxi drivers, government officials etc.

7. Every society has brutes (including Europe),
but remotely I will place the brutes around 5% of their society.
By contrast, I will project that 95% of Nigerians are uncivilised and brutes.
Less than 5% of our society understand what respect and dignity for others mean.
(Subject to a later research as I intend to publish a paper on workplace incivility in Nigeria)

8. We are Nigeria,
Nigerians are we.
We are SARS.
SARS are we.
The SARS attitude is the Nigerian attitude.
The SARS way is how most of us behave,
From the least to the greatest among us.

You have not known a Nigerian until you give him power, gun or a little edge above his brothers.

The moment a Nigerian gets power,
Do you know what he would do first with it?
He will seek out his brothers and destroy them one by one.
It’s the way of an animal, a brute and an uncivilised man.
It happened when the colonialists arrived our shores for the first time,
Nigerians captured one another (in exchange for gifts) from the slave-man.
It’s still happening same way today.
And though the colonial masters have left,
Nigerians are still colonising one another.

9. This explains why our politicians steal.
Majority of Nigerians are abusers or abusers in waiting.
Someone once said that the number of people currently stealing in Nigeria is not up to one percent of people waiting to steal.
We are all thieves in waiting,
We have just not gotten the opportunity to steal yet.

Incivility is why our pastors manipulate people for personal gains.
It is why our policemen and women shoot without thinking.
It is why our lecturers intimidate students and demand sex for marks.
It is why officers in almost every government office in Nigeria take and demand (not even request) bribe.

Incivility is rooted in every Nigerian.
It is rooted in our obsession to destroy our brothers and sisters just because we have a little advantage they do not have.
How then are we supposed to have a civil society that respects the right of all?
How is the right of the weakest person among us supposed to be protected?

10. We are not a civilised society.
We are brutes, we treat each other like animals.
The ones who went to school amongst us are worse off in this regard.
Most Nigerians are closer to the animal world than Homo sapiens.
This may seem very harsh,
But only animals treat one another the way Nigerians treat their fellow country men.

Until all these stops and we learn civility, we can kiss growth, development and progress goodbye forever in our nation.
Our children will continue to kill and maim each other because they learnt well from us.
They will continue to be strangers in foreign lands.
They will continue to die on the seas and in the deserts, in their quest to escape the hell our incivility has caused.

Nigerians we need a rebirth.
This rebirth starts with every Nigerian.
It is a decision we will make individually and collectively.
However, individually first.

Think for a moment about the person you honour and regard most in life,
Now make a decision to treat everyone like that.
That is how to build a great nation.

11. I wouldn’t join anyone to say #EndSARS.
I will rather say end the Nigerian madness.

If we end SARS, are we going to also end the Nigerian police force?
Are we going to end our doctors?
Are we going to end the lecturers too?
Are we going to end the nurses?
Are we going to end the politicians and Pastors?
Are we going to end our civil service who treat other Nigerians like dung?
Are we going to end Nigeria?

12. Transforming Nigeria begins with every citizen learning civility and becoming a decent human being.

It begins with you and I.
