Ten06: Some of us who are not from the eastern region are deeply unhappy about the killings by unknown gunmen and the support they seem to receive from individuals like that person in Finland encouraging them. However, some people from the region insult us and justify these evil acts, claiming they are fighting for Biafra. But is killing your own people really the way to fight for Biafra? It is simple, you're either a terrible human being or you're not. You have to choose your stand. Insult, or have nothing to do with it. This talk about "people from other places insult us" has become such a cliché that it has lost its novelty and questions why we cannot form our own opinions, but rely on others to form it for us. I want to also insult, or I see it as ungodly and have nothing to do with it. That simple. Stay in one place. |

AnuOluwatomilol: You're talking about reputation in the face of hunger? Tyson is broke, and if no money comes his way, he’ll end up on the streets begging. This is a lesson for us as Black people: opportunities often come our way, but we foolishly waste them. When Tyson was making money, he spent it on irrelevant things like keeping wild animals as pets and buying expensive cars. Now, he’s so broke that he desperately needs any help he can get. At this point, reputation isn’t important; money is. You sound so uninformed. Get yourself updated. |

I think a mother's bond transcends breastfeeding only. That is, in my opinion, even the least of it. If you take the mother away from the child after 2 years, there's no longer any bond for the child forward.
I'll add that the bond should continue till about 7-8 years of age, so that the child by then would've formed some form of solid foundations and fundamentals. |

Thank God he survived, omo! Thankfully, no sharks.
It quickly reminded me of WWII when the Japs torpedoed America's ship and it divided and sank within minutes. While people went down fast with the ship, the ones remaining were floating in the water. Omo, the story mad!!! After some time Sharks came and started circling and taking them out one after the other. The survivors said they heard screams of bones shattering left, right, and centre. They would end up staying in the water for like 5 days before someone flying mistakenly saw them. Of over a thousand on the ship, only about 300+ survived.
I still remember that the Captain got a lot of stick for not following the maneuver rules and was demoted or something. But the Jap captain came to the US to testify and say that no matter what the US captain did, his torpedo was locked in and was going to strike the ship no matter what. Make una look am up. Real life stuff. |

Realtruth2023: Dude stop trying to fake that you are igbo, the truth is you are not. Onitsha started having street lights in the early 40s. Main Market opened in the late 30s. Most igbo traders of old started trading with the British during WW2 when it started in 1938. Zik had already competed his schooling in the 30s alongside Sir Louis Mbanefo and Co. Mbadiwe was already schooling in the late 30s. DMGS opened in the 30s, so it shows you are not igbo and lying for you to say what you said. Blud, chillax. I'd like to focus on the topic at hand. Now, as long as we cannot determine the true year of the picture, see it as conjectured analysis. And to make it make sense, I already put up a couple of reasons why I don't think the image was in the 30s. N.B. WWII started in 1939 and ended in 1945. |
Politics › Re: Picture Of A Market Stall In Onitsha In 1937 by Hausa(m): 10:09pm On Oct 15, 2024 |
richmond500: It is not about the city, Onitsha could be a bustling city back then but those items are not 1930s items. U can't import what people cannot use. If the company started in 1929, it means that distribution started later years, so by 1930, 99% of Nigerians may have never seen electricty. In 1930, many Nigerians were still travelling with carriage. Even the Queen traveled on a royal carriage I have to agree with you on this one. As onye Anambra through-n-through, I doubt that picture is anywhere from the 30s. The books of the time never even mentioned a torchlight or an Umbrella. One way or another Chinua Achebe would've mentioned it in his many books. Again, the many Umbrellas there and the hook of the Umbrella does not suggest the 30s. Although the man seems to be with no shoes like Goodluck Jonathan at the time, the little boy's well cut hair also does not suggest the 30s. One wonders why he has no shoes but sells many umbrellas and other interesting items. Another thing is if they were imported, who was importing them? Igbo history has no one from the 30s doing an importation like this. Most of the popular names of the 30s for Igbos were those who went to acquire education abroad. And it was around the late 30s to early 40s that they returned back to Nigeria. Zik, Sir Louis Mbanefo, and some few. Give or take, that picture will be the 60s. |
Politics › Re: Picture Of A Market Stall In Onitsha In 1937 by Hausa(m): 9:53pm On Oct 15, 2024 |
richmond500: No, I was born in the 90s and I know the kind of cup we used, they are not nearly as fine as those ones in the pic. Also electric torch came to Nigeria early 2000s, we used one kind lantern with glass gloves, in the 90s before battery torches. electric torch was recent. Also 1930's pictures are not this sharp, the white colours of 1930 pics are tanned Sorry, you goofed. There are 1900 pictures even sharper than that one. |

360who: Start with a change of mindset. Most grads and undergrads in Nigeria have been brainwashed with the idea that a certificate automatically equals a better life than the one you've got or an opportunity/ opening door to a successful career.
Think about it, how many ppl have the same certificate as you. You are up against over 15 million ppl so the ratio of success is slimmer when compared to entrepreneurs.
You spend 10 yrs moving up the ladder or trying to, at a firm or business. By the 10th yr, the entrepreneur has established over 100 contacts and processed over 100 transactions (all beneficial to his network, net worth, bank account and family). The worker on the other hand gets a promotion and a pay rise of less than 5%. Get the picture?
Acquire a skill. A skill that is not easily learned or one isn't as common. This is what will set you aside to make money from each one.
All the info you need to do that is available online and it all takes time. Most ppl want help and quick doe but they won't put in the work. They want it quick.
So have a 1 yr plan to achieve a skill or a set of skills to make money with. On your way up, someone will always notice your gift and invest or demand for your services. You're sounding like a FooooL. He's telling you how he's managed to finish school and learnt a skill, and you're telling him to start with a change of mindset. What a joke! SMH. |

When a woman cheats on you, she hates it when you try to handle it in a cool manner because she will do everything to instigate a physical fight, I'm not talking instigating by verbally insulting you, I'm talking instigate by them physically assaulting you, and you being forced to defend yourself.. I don't know if they somehow feel that the only way to remedy what they did is to pay in terms of physical harm to themselves... Its twisted. I saw it firsthand... I'll blame the man 100% cos he committed murder. I mean it doesn't matter what happened, he killed someone, didn't he? But that's not why I'm here. I'm kind of surprised no one replied to your comment about that twist thing. I've noticed it myself and it is just so weird. It's just some kind of manipulation I don't understand. |

Christistruth00: Prisoners of War you said?
Do you know that if the Oyo Mesi had Crowned the real Crown Prince of Oyo the Yorubas most likely would not have fought the 16 year Kiriji War?
On top of that War the Crown prince they refused to crown almost unbelievably still became the Alaafin of Oyo about 30 years after and was one of the best ever.
But look at the destruction that had happened.
Another one which was done by Azikiwe Did you know that a Calabar Officer called Wellington Bassey was the most senior Army Officer and the Person who the British were preparing to take over as head of the Nigerian Army because of his Seniority?
Azikiwe after independence and because of Tribalism did all he could to hold down Wellington Bassey who was Calabar so Gen Ironsi could overtake him in promotion and become head if the Army
You yourself already know the Series of Calamities that happened under Ironsi that resulted in a very Calamitous Civil War
Even Azikiwe himself had to run away from Nigeria before the end of the War I'm afraid to say that your knowledge of history is entirely inaccurate. Wellington Bassey being the most senior officer did not mean he was tabled for GOC after independence. The history is clear that 3 names were shortlisted: Ironsi, Mai-Malari, and Ademulegun. And the Govt decided to select Ironsi. Bassey, being the most senior and being the number one name on the military as N1, was never shortlisted. This could be because he wasn't a soldier but in the Navy, not sure. But he was never mentioned. We heard in the past that Zik was a ceremonial president and the main man was Balewa. This is a fact! Now, coming and trying to make it out that Zik pulled the strings is disingenuous. Please go back and read history so you don't tell people that Fela was right with the "Teacher no Teach me Nonsense" quote he made long ago. |
