To report back to the House, I did my medical last week Saturday. Got medical call previous week Thursday. I submitted on May 2. I was not asked to pay for tuition nor boarding but did send along with my application the receipt for boarding deposit of $400 to secure a room, although I have been to Canada for more than 4 times in the past. However, as the waiting again begins, I dont know if I might be called for tuition payment and full boarding payment. I am self sponsor and if CDHC requests for payments I have the resources to pay same.

For those awaiting developments in their application, I pray that it would get to your turn.

As long as there is no annotation on your visa, you can use same for other dates. In case the question arises, simply tell them the truth that work schedule didnt permit you to travel then. But bring along evidence of your work and leave letter if possible.

You would be jeopardising your chances if you list your wife in your application that she would be following you. You lose home ties. 2. The fact that you have loan in your account is a minus for you as the VO would think you have another aim for travelling to Canada and not for education, you would be turned down for lack of fund as you wont be able to work for the first 6 months. I would suggest that you cobble the amount together now in one single account so as to make it financially sufficient. I am a self-sponsored and my employer wrote that I would still be in their pay roll during my studies, although I have over $34K plus in the account I presented. I have been called for medical and would have it done this week. Your wife can join you later but now you would have to slug it out ourself. When you are victorious, you can file for your wife.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 4 by hayek: 3:34pm On Jun 13, 2013
If I may ask, did you apply online or paper application? when did you submit? if you apply through paper application, that does not mean anything but if you apply online it would be good to provide any previous reference you have from the same mission. I dont think it would have much impact on your application anyway. That is not so gross to deny your application.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 4 by hayek: 2:11pm On Jun 13, 2013
I didnt submit any transcript but sent my certificate. The bottomline is transcript is for the school to give you admission. Embassy rarely request for it when it doubt. As for the land thing, I only submitted the letter with which the land was allocated to me with Ref number and they can check if they want cos it is genuine. This is not C of O nor Building plan. I submitted a letter of Academic statements. In fact I attached it with my admission letter since I believe that is where it should belong so that it would be read together. It is a one and half page thing which is well written. But by and large try to make your application simple but convincing. As for the ties to Nigeria I have good travelling record and in fact attached my previous Canada Visas. Aside I have my kids here and wife they are not following me on this trip but that create ties.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 4 by hayek: 1:43pm On Jun 13, 2013
Being a self-sponsored person, I only provided my 1. Statement of accounts with $34K plus 2. Letter from my employer that I would still be in their payroll during my education, 3. my land allocation by Ogun State government which I have paid for. 4. Accommodation initial deposit receipt of $400. I applied online here in Nigeria and upload the documents after I have reduced the size to amount required per document. Anyone can be refused for whatever reason but the bottomline is to tell the truth that you have been refused before in your application. I told them that I had been refused twice for student permit.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 4 by hayek: 12:25pm On Jun 13, 2013
Just this morning I got medical call from CDHC.I submitted online on May 2nd. No payment for tuition nor payment for boarding. I think they must have seen that I am capable to pay based on the account I submitted with $32,400. I am self-sponsored. I have been to Canada for 6 times since 2005 but last year I applied but was turned down cos of no sufficient despite having a valid visa running then. I then traveled to Canada last year for my holiday and used the opportunity to apply inside Canada for student permit but was refused and said I would need to apply outside Canada and that I am not the applicant referred to in the law. I did medical last year in Canada and mentioned it that I did in my application. I didnt hold any information back. What I would suggest at this forum is to be honest as possible with your application and documentation you are using to support the application. Any mis-information is a red flag to turn down an application. Again make your application simple and convincing.

There are many folks in this forum who are skillful in offering advice and for those who are about to apply take the pain to read previous posts. Dont be lazy. Despite the fact that I have a good travel history I gained a lot from this forum. Nobody has monopoly of knowledge. There is no one plus one equal two on this forum. Take pain to read posts and take decisions based on your own case. Each case are not the same even though you are applying for the same visa category.

Good luck to those who are expecting their own medicals. All the best to those who have secured their TRV.

Hello Forumites: Has there been anyone here whose application is up to 2 months through online platform and have heard from info regarding medicals? I submited on May 2nd online platform but majority of paper application tend to get calls for medical in two months.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 4 by hayek: 6:10pm On May 30, 2013
I dont have any first-hand information about the duration it takes to respond to application. But judging from the response rates here regarding getting medical letter, majority of people get theirs within the range of two months after submission. A handful (very very few) get their medical call up before two month and very few also get medical call up after 2 months. Anyone who want to double check this should kindly take a look at the previous posts.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 4 by hayek: 3:09pm On May 30, 2013
My post is not about the age of my application. I know that applicant can only expect response after two months of submission through paper application. But I just want to know how fast or slow is the online application and not necessarily being anxious about my application which would be one month old this weekend. Anyone with experience in the online thing should kindly share it.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 4 by hayek: 2:29pm On May 30, 2013
Has there been anyone who applied online and has been called for medical? I have read on this forum of people who applied through VAC and has gotten calls for medical. I have not heard of anyone who applied through online and get same message. I applied on May 2nd, 2013 through the online platform.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 4 by hayek: 4:32pm On May 23, 2013
The online application status you looked at are those applications submitted inside Canada and not those submitted outside Canada. The one inside Canada are for those whose study permit has expired or about to expire and would need to renew same.

You can only apply inside Canada if you have been issued a study permit outside canada before and you are within Canada now and the study permit has expired or about to expire. As for whether you are citizen or visitor, there is a difference between the two words. There is no question of semantic misinterpretation about this. You would recollect that in the main application form you were asked your nationality and country where you are applying from and if you are Citizen of country where you are applying from. The requirement is this: Naturally applicants from Asia, Africa, Latin America and Middle East are to undertake a medical test as long as you have resided in any of those country. The argument that this is being asked regarding medical is defeated. As along as you are from Africa, Asia, Middle East or Latin America and have lived in any of those countries for less 6 months and you are citizen, you would need a medical test. The question is clear for us. Have you visited any of these countries in the last 6 month or above 6 months. The question wants to test other things which I cannot pin-point now given the available information at my disposal. If you are a Nigerian Citizen, the answer is NO given the fact that you are not a visitor to Nigeria but a citizen. This information is being asked in the application form itself. Citizen and Visitor are not the same.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 4 by hayek: 11:13am On May 23, 2013
The way folks here interprets the questions whether you have stayed in a country above 6 months seems incorrect. If you are a citizen of Nigeria you do not have to pick yes unless you are not. You are a Nigerian citizen who has not stayed in those countries listed for upto 6 months or above. In this regard, being a citizen of a country should not be misconstrued to mean visit. You are citizen of Nigeria and you have not visited or stayed in the countries listed for more than 6 months. In this circumstance you are expected to pick No. Being a citizen and a visitor to a country is NEVER the same.

Are there fellow forumites who have used online application and received call for medical? I used the online application platform on May 2nd, 2013. I used the online thing because it is quite straight forward and not complex like the paper application. I have not heard received any message so far although the duration for visa process is 4-6 months. I n case there has been anyone who used online application and has gotten medicals, please share your story with others. I am going for MA and I an self-sponsored ( I have about $35K in my account) and my workplace wrote to the effect they are supportive of my studies and that I would continue to be in their pay roll even while studying.

Hello folks. Are there updates for medicals for those who submitted applications in May?
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by hayek: 7:07pm On Jul 30, 2012
Sir P!:
@hayek Note visiting various countries (uk, us, schengen) serves as more of a tie than visiting one country 7 times .. they might suspect the person is even working there depending on how frequent the visits are
These are people who have travelled widely and inthe last 10 years they have at various times visited canada. Look at me, I have visited several schengen, UK and US many times that demostrate ties. And what I am saying is that these people ought to be given accelerated processing of their applications but unfortunately they are not. That means queuing process also applied to them.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by hayek: 6:48pm On Jul 30, 2012
Sir P!:
@hayek Well what can we say, you know visiting a country 7 times and then applying for study visa could seem suspicious. They could feel you have something you're doing there and u wanna use study visa as opportunity to relocate perm. One doesn't know how this people (VOs) think
Oh, I failed to elaborate. Those whom I said had visited canada upto 7 times were also applying for visitor under the same category and their applications were all held up. But the fact that you have visited a country before and you apply for student permit brigthens your chances than someone who hasnt. You have demostrated that you have a home which you are keen on abandoning and you wont become a public charge. In a nutshell, you have demostrated that you have ties and you would return here.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by hayek: 6:02pm On Jul 30, 2012
Sir P!:
90perc is quite high, I think this year the general trend was people sponsored by parents get the medical call quickly compared with people sponsored by relatives. Probably less checks are done on people sponsored by parents..I submitted June.
Thanks for the info, we'll all get there.
Cheers
Well, many self sponsored too get medical call up soon. what I am saying is for those not getting response shortly for medicals, it means they are made follow the queuing process. Look at me I am a self sponsor and I have a valid Canadian Visa which expires in May 2013. I have been to canada 4-5 times in the last 6 years. Would you say I am not qualified or not due for acelerated processing of application? I met many people today who have been to canada up to 7 times and their passports were held hostage having spent over 50 working days. Ordinarily you would say these people would be given acelerated processing of their applications but sadly they are not and their applications need to follow the queue thing.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by hayek: 5:12pm On Jul 30, 2012
Sir P!:
@hayek I don't think applications are treated based on month of submission, if you look through this thread you'll know they're not treated that way. We've seen cases where Mr A submits february 12 for instance Mr B submits March 12 and Mr B gets medical call first week april and mr A has to wait months to get response.
Hope you understand what I'm saying
I quite understand what you are saying. But what I am stressing is that if your application has spent endless days there, you would need to ask them questions regarding your status. VFS has nothing to do with this and they just handle application shipment. My brother April till now is a long time and if you dont hear till now pls approach them. Again applications are by different officers and some applicants might be lucky to be called early but generally 90% of applications would have to follow the queue procedures.

moty4all: @hayek
I submitted April 28th and I have not heard from dem. Do you think I go over to the embassy office. And if I do what do I tell them.
If you read my threat carefully, I said those who submit from January-April and have not heard back should quickly approach the CDHC. From what I understand when I was there, April applications have been done and they are working on May now. Yes you need to head to CDHC and ask questions. They are just not treating applications the way they should. Some are treated and dumped somewhere. You need to approach them.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by hayek: 3:59pm On Jul 30, 2012
HELLO HOUSE: I have some info for you. I was at the CDHC this morning and it was full of people (about 50) who came for different reasons. I got to understand that applications were dumped and that now they are treated those who submitted in April. If you submitted in April or earlier than that you need to head to CDHC office. Right now they are dealing with May applications. I also understand that there was a guy in CDHC who made this backlog of applications to happen. He was keen on seeing all applications even those treated by his colleagues. At a point, his colleagues had to abandon the job for him and hence the slow processing of applications and delays. Again I understand that the officer had been transfered back to another post. So if you had submitted applications for whatever categories(student, visit, worker etc) since January-April and you have not heard back, I strongly encourage you to go there and ask questions. I got in my application for student permit on May 17 and got to CDHC on May 18th. I am going in for graduate program. To be honest these guys are short-staff. If you got to the visa section you wont see more human activities there.

I needed my daugther's birth certificate and filled in their form today that I am not withdrawing application but would like to request for her birth certificate as she would like to apply for her US passport as she cant do so without the original. We all submitted and we put in all details we were later told to wait and the security later told us that they said they would get back to us through the phone number we provided in the form we filled in today at CDHC. It was messy things and people were so furious. Lets continue to share info on this forum and when I heard back I would let you know.
TravelRe: Travelling To Canada Part 3 by hayek: 7:09pm On Jul 27, 2012
canadianboy: I submitted mine in May 14 and got to CDHC in May 15 and have not heard anything yet too; in fact, as for my case, i am applying for the second time after i was refused visa last year as a result of insufficient funds. It's really not easy i must confess!
We are co-travellers. I applied for Masters degree and I submitted on May 17 and got to CDHC on May 18 and it is still waiting game. It seems they are gradually dealing with May submission and almost dealth with April now. Applications are just dump there. I might approach them next week to withdraw my daugther birth certificate cos she needs it to apply for her US passport since her previous one has expired as she is travelling with her mum next month to Europe. If you look at the thread critically only few applicants from May has been dealth with. Lets continue to share info on this forum. I have been to Canada 3-4 times and still have a valid Canadian visa issued last year and valid till May 2013 so they can say they cant say I dont have ties to Nigeria.

I have been carefully following the thread and I cannot but agree that this forum is Do It Yourself(DIY) platform. One cannot but encourage sharing experince and when you help others you are learning and helping yourself as well.

Well, I got in my application for Study permit on May 17th, 2012. It is still waiting game. Visa officers have a wide discretion so each case is differently treated. Like I once said in this forum, already I have a valid Canadian Visa expiring May, 2013 and I have visited Canada 3-4 times. But question now is when I applied I submitted my kids( who are US Citizens) birth certificates. Right now one of their passport has expired and has to be renewed because they are going in for a holiday in Europe with their mum. To make this happen, appointment has been scheduled with the US Consulate, Citizen section on August 2,2012. Since the kid is under 16, she has to be accompanied by her parents along with her ORGINAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE which is now in sleeping at CDHC office in Lagos. Please dear Forumites, how do I get this birth cert back? Do I visit their office and fill or simply send an email?

Please note that I am not withdrawing my application and want it to remain with them as long as they want. I have read in this forum that one can go CDHC as early as possible on working days except Fridays. But again has anyone in this forum tried to get some of his/her documents and his/her application was not withdrawn?
