Hey Guys, many thanks for your advise. My wife's passport has been requested. Where is the passport take to these days? CDHC or Visa application centers? |
Hello House, I am checking with anyone in this forum with an answer and with a direct experience and not hearsay. My spouse is required to submit a family information form for her spousal open work permit application. I would like to know if she could take this to CDHC herself rather than sending through email. Many thanks guys |

Many thanks for all your information so far. Will the family form be taken to their office when it is completed or send to them through email.? I would like to to take it there if they still take additional documents through their office in VI. |
Ok. Thank you all. will this famiky be taken to their office when filled in or sent by email? |
Hello dear forumites: I need your advise regarding my family visa. My wife visiting visa had been declined 3 times but recently applied for spousal work permit since I am doing a graduate study here. She had done medical as she had been called for one with one of my kids who need a visa as the other two kids dont need a visa to enter Canada. But CDHC sent an email asking that my wife completed a family form. My question is do I state there that the other kids would be following her? Of course they would be following her. And I am wondering why they are sending this family form at this stage. Ihope that other more experienced members can be helpful. |

kayconsult: @ hayek. I understand ur missing ur wife and kid, but my advise is since ur still a student and ur wife can't use her 2 million naira acct,y not wait till after your program, try and get a job, then u can easyly get a parmanent residence which will enable both ur wife and kid to come and visit. Or wait till ur doing ur convocation, u can then send both of them an invitation letter for your convocation through ur schl which will be a great option too.If I may ask, is your advice based on experience or just a mere opinion. There are many students whose family are here while still being a student. Unfortunately, they are not Nigerians but what to hear from Nigerians who have experienced this and what documentations that would be required. |
Hello Forumites: I gained a lot from this forum last time when applying for my Study permit which I was eventually granted. I am coming back to the same forum again to explore if any other members here can offer useful advice. I am currently doing graduate program here in BC. However, I would like to bring in my family( my wife and kid) here next year for Easter. I am trying to figure out what exactly I would need to or what documentation they would need to send along with their application and at the same time assess their success rate. Both of them have traveled to the US before. She has close to N2m in her account and I am still on the payroll of my employer till now but unfortunately she wont be able to get my account statement. Anyone with useful suggestions should please offer it. |
Yellow Card is not a requirement to enter Canada for a student even for a visitor. It only applies to countries in Africa, Asia and some countries in Latin American countries. |

TRV got on Monday including POE introduction letter. I wish Fall students Applicants awaiting TRV best of luck. In case you have not heard from CDHC, I would suggest you go there and ask. Many people on Monday were given their TRV by hand even those applied through Oregun. I leave for Vancouver, BC, tomorrow. School have resumed but I have until September 18th to show up. The ticket cost is $1,702 KLM. For the experienced guys here, I would like to know how soon I can bring my wife to visit me probably for this Xmas. She is gainfully employed here and I didnt apply together with her so that my application would not raised red flags. I have 3 kids but two of them are US citizens. So only one of my kids and my wife would need a visiting visa. I have a brother there they can stay with when they are in town. Anyone who can offer useful advice and suggestion is welcome to kindly offer it. |
Folks, after a short day and long night, long story cut short Application submitted May 2nd, 2013 Medical done June 22, 2013 Submit additional documents August 1,2013 TRV issued September 05, 2013 ( asked to submit my passport) School Resume September 4th but have till Sept. 18 to show up. Thanks folks for your advice on this forum. it has been wondeful. No body has monopoly of knowledge and have learnt and gaind from this forum. This is to let guys know that the strike by Visa officers around the world is having its toll on visa processing. |
Fellow Forumites: Yesterday I was at CDHC to submit my docs and passport as advised by other fellow forum members here. I also included the fund transfer teller from my bank as evidence of payment for tuition for one year. This was not required but as advised, I had to pay it as well and it made sense to me. I did my medical on June 22 and this is the 4th week after that and have not heard from CDHC regarding further instructions. From my calculation about 70% of applicants ( based on information available on this forum(( I may be wrong)) ) were issued TRVs between 25-30days after medicals and as at today the number of working days is 22 working days after my medical. While at CDHC yesterday, I also met a fellow forum member there and we exchanged good thoughts and be able to put face into the ID. I just glanced through his letter and could know that he is the guy that had an award of $12k. If you are called for medical and you applied through Paper in Oregun and you didnt get your passport back, the best thing to do is to rush to the CDHC and request for your passport. I met some folks yesterday who had such a problem and were asked to to fill in the form. We should remember that VO are humans and could make mistakes even in their decisions. If we notice this in our application, we should approach their office. Again a lot of them are learning on the job until after a few months on the job. Most VOs are junior officers and are those who have joined foreign dept. I must bet that this forum are just superb as information sharing has helped me and I believe a lot of folks on this forum. Nobody has monopoly of knowledge and the limit of what you know is where other begin. Goodluck with everyone on this forum and would update you guys in case I have any other info that brews out regarding my application/decision of TRV |
Go to the clinic at Ikoyi you dont have to schedule appointment but you must be there early. The fee is 28k. |

There are many cheerful news for this weekend and I hope it would it would continue. May good news for other also continue to pour in henceforth for others. As suggested by follow forumites here, I am submitting my passport and other docs on Monday as well as bank transactions with bank stamp and a letter authorizing the transfer of tuition fee from my domiciliary account. Like I said, I was not asked to pay tuition or boarding but was advised here to show evidence of paying for one year tuition. I hope this would suffice to go ahead. I am still open to further suggestions from gurus in the forum. |
Many thanks. I would endavour to pay through my Visa card. Hopefully, it goes through. I used the same card last year in Canada for purchases and I very much hope it would go when I use it to pay for the school fee. I think I can ride on my previous visits to Canada (more than 4 times) to erase any doubt. But in case the transaction cant go through today, what do you suggest that I should? Does that mean I should hold off going to CDHC on Monday with documents and passport? |
Good day forumites: I am back in Lagos now. In view of the advice offered this week, I would like to go to CDHC on Monday AM. Like I said I did my medical almost 4 weeks now and when I got my medical it was not accompanied with further instructions. In this regard, I dont know the next step and folk here advised that I should go to CDHC to drop my docs including my passport. I would like to ask if I would have to send those docs and passport with UPS or simply go there and drop it myslf? If I am to send me SOA, would it be the one I sent when I applied online or would have to get a new statement? |
@Pat98: Lets get this clear folks. By the end of 4th week, I send them my passport at CDHC or write them on further instructions through email? |
In my case, I wasnt told to pay for tuition or boarding, that means I would simply send them my passport alone and if they require additional documents they would request for them. Right? |
@Pat98: Are you saying at the end of the 4th week, I should approach them that I would like to submit my passport? Would that not amount to jumping the gun? I think they ought to send email/notification to the effect that I should send in my passport. |
[quote author=Pat98]Proceed to the embassy in about 4 week after your medicals and inform them you want to submit your documents. Your passport especially. ------------ Are you saying at the end of the 4th week, I should approach them that I would like to submit my passport? Would that not amount to jumping the gun? @GboyegaD: The subject is: Medical Report - Section A Client identification and summary (IMM 1017E). I got this in my CIC account. It is a two page thing. The first page contains the medical instructions and the other page contained my info. |
Dear Forumites; Happy new week to everyone. For those waiting for medicals or TRV, this week would be a good one to remember for everyone in a good way. Just a question to fellow forumites here. Last week marked the 3rd week after I completed my medical. I submitted online but I am wondering now when it is likely that they ask me to submit my passport or other documents, although I was not asked to pay for tuition or boarding fees. I hope folks who have travelled in a similar route would be able to give advice regarding this. I have double check now, there is no further instruction regarding when to submit my passport and other documents in my medical instructions. I was simply asked to go for medical within 60 days and everything there related to the medical and nothting regarding when to submit other documents and passport. |

@chains] Yes they can reject is after applicant is called for medical for some reasons. I know of a guy who was turned down cos his SOA was Oluwole. Also applicant can be refused after medical if there is some diseases which cannot be cured immediately. I heard of a guy on this forum who was turned down until he is cured of his TB. |
Hello Fellow Forumites: I did my medical on June 22. I was told by the hospital that if there are further tests they would get back to me. I have not heard from them. I am assuming that the medical tests were okay. What I would like to ask more experinced folks here is the fact that when I was sent notification for medical, it was not accompanied with further instructions to pay either for tuition or boarding, although I sent along with my application deposi receipts of $400 for securing boarding. From what I have been reading on this forum, most people are asked to pay for tuition and boarding when they received their medical notification. Although I have been to Canada more than 4 times in the past and I also sent along with my application the copies of the visa stamps. My question would they still ask me to pay for tuition or boarding? If yes, at what point would they ask me to do this since it was not accompanied with my medical? I applied online on May 2, does that mean they would ask to do pay tuition and full boarding when they ask me to send in my passport and other documents? |
