Sports / World Relays:nigeria Wins Gold In IAAF World Relays In The Bahamas by haykay33: 4:04am On May 04, 2015 |
Nigeria’s fortunes at the IAAF World Relays in the Bahamas took an up swing with the women 4x200m snatching the gold in a dramatic final, staged in the early hours of Sunday. Okagbare started for the Nigerian quartet, she did well to stay close to the event’s defending champions, the USA who took a commanding lead from the start. They were on course for another win, but disaster overwhelmed the American ladies at the final changeover. Janeba Tarmon and Allyson Felix failed to reach an understanding, it ended with Felix crashing to the floor. Regina Geroge, Dominique Duncan and Christy Udoh made no such mistake, they coasted home to victory at 1.30.52 seconds to win the 50,000 dollars at stake also set a new national record. Jamaica finished a distant second in 1:31.73, one-and-a-half seconds slower than their time from last year, but one place higher on the podium. Germany were third in 1:33.61 while China set an Asian record of 1:34.89 in fourth. “I am very delighted with the performance of our Women winning the 4x200m relay in a World leading time of 1:30.52s ahead of all the leading nations – USA, Jamaica, Bahamas, France, Germany, China and Ireland. I had said it before now that we can rely on these women to showcase our prowess in the Relays and they have not disappointed us,” Athletics Federation of Nigeria technical director Navy Commodore Omatseye Nesiama stated.

Politics / “we Did Not Appoint Jega”, APC Tells PDP by haykay33: 11:33pm On Feb 28, 2015 |
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has responded to a request by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to explain its links with the chairman of the electoral body, reminding the ruling party that it did not appoint Professor Attahiru Jega. In a telephone interview on Saturday, the spokesman for the APC, Mr Lai Mohammed, told Channels Television that “the PPD is acting like a party out of power”. “The PDP is acting like a party in opposition. “We did not appoint Jega. They appointed Jega and they were the ones that extolled Jega to high heavens, saying that all the electoral commissioners working with Jega have been very transparent. “What has now happened between them? “We have no relationship with Jega. If we believe that Jega should not be fired, it is simply because we believe that elections should be credible. “Because, if you fire Jega now, and you bring another person, it is likely that the new person will say, ‘give me more time for me to organise election’,” Mr Mohammed said defending the party’s demand that Jega should not be fired. According to him, the only reason the APC was insisting that Jega should not be fired was because the party could not afford to witness another date shift. “Clearly, the PDP and President Jonathan are terrified of this elections and they are looking for every opportunity to postpone this elections again. That is the only problem we have,” he said. Earlier on Saturday, a spokesman for the PDP, Mr Olisa Metuh, asked the APC to explain to Nigerians the links between it and the Chairman of the electoral body, Professor Attahiru Jega, which informs and propels its feverish fixation and huge interest in his stay in office. The National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Olisa Metuh in a statement on Saturday said it was more than curious that the APC had continued to fabricate stories and show undue interest on Professor Jega. Mr Metuh said that such undue interest raise a lot of questions for the opposition and the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The electoral commission had on February 7, postponed the elections from February 14 and 28 to march 28 and April 11, saying it took the decision after wide-reaching consultations....culled from Channels tv.com |

i still don't understand how a right thinking Nigerian will praise GEJ...He could have defeated Boko Haram all these years...he allowed the group to flourish thinking it will work in his favor making ppl believe GMB is the group sponsor.....unfortunately it worked against him and what the Nigerian soldiers couldn't do in 6 years they are suddenly achieving within 6 weeks.... when the election has been postponed. and the truth is more kudos should be given to the chadian army...they are doing most of the winning while the Nigerian armed forces is taking all the credit. |

Okupe has also been telling us Buhari is only popular on social media....thats another message. Politics / Governor Fayose Confesses To Partaking In Ekiti Poll Rigging Meeting by haykay33: 12:36am On Feb 16, 2015 |
Ekiti state governor, Ayodele Fayose has finally confessed to partaking in the secret meeting where politicians led by former minister of state for defense, Musiliu Obanikoro met with army officer led by a Brigadier General plotted how to rig last August's gubernatorial election for Mr. Fayose. Mr. Fayose was speaking at an event in Ekiti where he inadvertently referred to the tape and then he quickly tried to change his story by claiming that he was only chastising the army general for being compromised in the presense of his collegaues. Mr. Fayose's confession contrasts his earlier stance that the tape was manufactured with the aid of a voice software. The minister of Police Affairs, Jelili Adesiyan had earlier confessed to being at the meeting, however, President Goodluck Jonathan told reporters from the Wallstreet Journal during a recent interview that the tape was not "real" stating that the incident will not be probed.....Pls Listen to the tape at the link below. https://soundcloud.com/otitokoro/fayose-confesses-to-ekitigate |
Politics / Obasanjo Has Got His Facts Wrong – Fani-kayode by haykay33: 12:00am On Feb 15, 2015 |
Media Director of the Jonathan Campaign Organisation, Mr Femi Fani-Kayode, says it was the electoral umpire that postponed the election and not the President. He was reacting to the statement by the former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, accusing President Jonathan of forcing the postponement on the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC. In a telephone interview with Channels Television Mr. Fani-Kayode explained that President Goodluck Jonathan had said that he was not behind the postponement of the elections. “It is not the Government of President Jonathan that changed the dates of the election or postponed it. It was INEC, everybody knows this. “The reasons that INEC adduced to that are reasons I believe are justifiable and there were also other reasons; PVCs and so on and so forth, whereby 34% of Nigerian people would have been disenfranchised, if that election had gone on today. “So I think it was the right and proper thing for INEC to postpone the elections,” Fani-Kayode said, adding that his team would still respond to Obasanjo’s allegations at the appropriate time. He further explained, “This is a decision that was made by the military themselves and they have given that assessment and said that in six weeks they would be able to do more than enough to be able to create the necessary stability in the north-east. “It goes to show that perhaps the former president did not fully understand the rationale behind this decision. “It wasn’t just about getting rid of the unrest or the insurgency and the rebellion in the north-east, it was also about ensuring that we have enough troops on ground throughout the rest of Nigeria so that those soldiers could help the Police to ensure that there is no violence during the elections. Fani-Kayode also said that the President had no plan to remove the INEC Chairman, Professor Attahiru Jega. Therefore the former president’s allegation is unfounded. “President Obasanjo has got his facts wrong,” he said, asking all Nigerians to be less critical of the Government.....source Channels Tv

Politics / Presidency Condemns Obasanjo’s ‘unwarranted Attack’ On Jonathan by haykay33: 11:35pm On Feb 14, 2015 |
The Presidency has faulted recent statements made by former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, about incumbent President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan. Obasanjo, during an interview with Channels Television, had alleged that the postponement of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was part of the grand plans by President Goodluck Jonathan to win the election by all means. The former President made the statement on Saturday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, while speaking on the state of the nation and giving his opinion on the election postponement. Obasanjo accused the President of forcing the postponement of the elections on INEC. However, a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, on Saturday, made the Government’s position known on the issues raised by Obasanjo. Full text of the statement as published on Reuben Abati’s website: OBASANJO’S UNWARRANTED ATTACK ON PRESIDENT JONATHAN IS ODIOUS, REPUGNANT AND SELF-SERVING OBASANJO’S UNWARRANTED ATTACK ON PRESIDENT JONATHAN IS ODIOUS, REPUGNANT AND SELF-SERVING – See more at: http://reubenabati.com.ng/2015-02-14-OBASANJO-acirc-S-UNWARRANTED-ATTACK-ON-PRESIDENT-JONATHAN-IS-ODIOUS-REPUGNANT-AND-SELF-SERVING-.html#sthash.0J2FQpx6.dpuf We find the false claims and allegations reportedly made against President Goodluck Jonathan by Chief Olusegun Obasanjo on Saturday in Abeokuta very odious and repugnant. As we have had cause to say before, it is most regrettable indeed that a man like Chief Obasanjo, who should know better, chooses to repeatedly, wantonly, and maliciously impugn the integrity of a sitting President of his country for the primary purpose of self-promotion. It is obvious from Chief Obasanjo’s serial vituperations against President Jonathan who is doing his best to positively transform Nigeria for the benefit of all of its people that he has willfully chosen to close his eyes to the present administration’s good works and intentions. For reasons best known to him, Chief Obasanjo has set his mind on regime change by fair or foul means. Otherwise, it would be completely senseless, irrational and out of place for Chief Obasanjo, who still claims to belong to the same party as the President, to accuse President Jonathan of plotting to win the rescheduled presidential elections by “hook or crook” and planning to plunge the nation into crisis if he loses the election. For the record, President Jonathan has no such intention and will continue to give the greatest possible support to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other relevant federal agencies to ensure that the rescheduled elections are successfully conducted. Indeed, it is not President Jonathan who remains faithful to his oath of office who is trying to plunge Nigeria into crisis, but Chief Obasanjo who is scheming to plunge the country into chaos in pursuit of a selfish and highly egocentric agenda. Chief Obasanjo’s plot with others within and outside the country to thwart the general elections and foist an unconstitutional Interim National Government, which he hopes to head on the nation is well known to us, but by the Grace of God Almighty, his odious plan to return to power through the back door will fail woefully. We know very well that it is in pursuit of this nefarious plot that the former President continues to sow the seeds of discord and crises in the polity by purporting to remain in the ruling party while openly consorting with the opposition, endorsing its candidates and predicting victory for opposition candidates in a manner most unbecoming of a supposed elder statesman. Thankfully, the vast majority of Nigerians who are patriotic and right-thinking cannot be fooled by Chief Obasanjo’s antics. We urge them to be assured that President Jonathan’s commitment to democracy in all its ramifications remains constant and that he will never be party to the use of any unlawful means to remain in office or gain political advantage over his opponents. The President stands by his commitment, which he reaffirmed on national television last Wednesday that on his watch, all elections in Nigeria, will be free, fair and credible, and that all certified election results will be respected. As President Jonathan has also assured the nation, the rescheduling of the general elections was in the best interest of the nation and was never driven by any ulterior motive on the part of government as Chief Obasanjo and others have alleged. President Jonathan will continue to put his best efforts into giving Nigeria quality leadership and will not be distracted from his purpose by unwarranted and needless criticism by persons who ought to know better. The President also continues to trust in the good judgment of Nigerians and to believe that in appreciation of his sincere efforts to move the country forward over the past four years, they will re-elect him for a second term on March 28, 2015 with a mandate to pursue his agenda for national transformation to a successful conclusion....source Channels Television.
