Hello everyone, I need your help. Please I intend travelling to New Brunswick before the end of November 2020 but when I checked on Ethiopian Airlines, they don't have a flight to Moncton in New Brunswick . How do I book a flight ticket for me and my family. I'm aware i can bookba connecting flight but i have no idea what it is and how it works. If there are any whatsapp or telegram group for PR in New Brunswick, kindly share the link.

Thank you all.

Only air Canada is going there from November 1st, you might have to fly to Toronto or Montreal from naija, then book separately on air Canada to Moncton, ensure to leave enough layover time at the airport for all procedure to be completed.
This option will be quite expensive though., The cheapest I found was Turkish Air @1100 for adult from naija to Moncton.

Thanks bro and congratulations..
Wify works as an auditor in one of the big 4 and I work as a financial analyst. We are looking at exam options that we can scale tru easily to enable us settle in fast..
do you have ICAN, if yes, register and write the ACCA, in order to convert it to CPA( this is for the financial analyst).
The big 4's here will likely recruit a person with big 4 experience from naija, but the CPA ,and CFE will definitely give a super boost for an auditor in the big 4

Financial Analyst = CPA
internal auditor = CIA plus CFE or CISA or CPA(at least 2)
Financial Auditor = CPA
IT Auditor = CISA + (CRISC or CISSP or CIA).

Auditors are paid better than accountants or financial analysts in most places.
Big 4's don't have fantastic pay but give your career profile a lot of boost, ease in getting other subsequent roles.
Most Government audit roles prefer the CIA to CPA.

the above statements are my my personal knowledge and experience, they are not cast in stone

Hayor2014 good day, pls I would like to know how far you have gone with your CIA and CISA exams. Myself and my wife are both ican chartered accountants in Nigeria and we are close to making the switch to canny land. What advice would u give us interms of professional exams to register for?
.
Thanks to God, I have finished both.
partlyly depends on where your previous experience was also(audut or internal control), but those 2 certifications are pretty strong for audit career line, I will write the CFE as extra..Regards

Business / Re: Nigerian Bank Disobeying My Late Father's Directive. PLEASE HELP!!! by hayor2014(m): 4:08pm On Sep 01, 2020
Don't waste your money on lawyer, a contract is no longer valid on the demise of one of the parties.
In banking everywhere, you need a letter of administration (issued by a court) for all the properties and bank accounts a person has, and it states who the administrators of the legal possessions will be..

No lawyer will take this case, It's a banking law, the case is lost ab initio..

Good day Nairaland Family,

Cos we never know who can help/refer, I am searching for an internal control, internal audit, Risk management or IT Control/audit position. I am an accounting graduate with over 5 years experience, I have the CISA and CIA certifications. I am willing to relocate, though presently based in Calgary.

Your referrals and recommendations would be highly appreciated.

Autos / Re: Take Advantage of Naira Appreciation: Bid Cars from the Auction (Copart & iaai) by hayor2014(m): 3:44pm On Mar 20, 2020
Hello experts,

Please I am looking to buy and ship a car from copart,I have no experience and little knowledge of how it works, I just have a few questions to ask...

* Are there cities in the USA, that it's preferable to purchase from.
*What does it cost to ship from the US to Nigeria.
*Are there local transportation cost in the USA to the port.
* Are there preferable days to bid for cars.
*How is copart charges calculated.
*Does bidding happen on weekends.
*Where will the shipping company pick the car from and do they pick up on weekends.

Please forgive my plenty questions and I will appreciate insight on anything I might have missed..

Thank you

I might be wrong, but I would advise you move from the known to the unknown..a few questions though

- where do you intend to land.
-are your a full PPR or provincial nomination.
-do you have certification for audit or risk
management that you can use here e.g CIA,
CPA..what certification do you have ...
- are you landing worth family..

Your answers to these questions will properly guide me on how exactly to respond... Cheers

dtush:
Hello House,

Here to seek advise and Clarifications please. I will be landing back permanently in Calgary at the end of the month. I currently have over 7 years exp in Risk mgt and audit in banking and oil and gas sectors in Nigeria and its been my desire for a while to move into the IT space, IT AUDIT.

I want to find out if there are short courses available to newcomers in Canada most esp Calgary i can enroll for. I am reading for my CRISC exam at the moment and should write as soon as i land, and then proceed to take the CISA exam. But i feel like the textbook knowledge might not be enough to chart a course in this new field.

But i am looking for a more hands on knowledge and practical training to help kickstart this switch. Will appreciate any feedback

Good morning everyone,

please my spouse and I have only done court marriage and our parents weren’t in the picture. Would it raise red flags?

Even though we have answers to other questions but we are worried about this. Please if you have added your spouse with only court marriage, kindly provide a cue.

once your have your valid marriage certificate, I do not think your marriage photos are needed for anything.

Bigger pay and prestige ( brother calm down), pay in both provinces is about the same and tax is higher in Ontario, cost of living is higher.
I would advise anyone with options to had to Ontario now though cos the job outlook on Alberta is really poor.
Conversion from ACCA to CPA , based on a friend's experience, takes about 6 months, start from Naija to cut the waiting time.

mikkyphp:
Depends on ambition. Do you want to run things and rub shoulders with the best? Bigger pay and prestige? Or you're just OK with making a living and living a chilled life? The choice is yours...

Commute isn't a big deal, 35mins train from Mississauga to Downtown Toronto.

All this talk about lower cost of living is relative and a trade-off with competitive pay and unlimited opportunities.

Enjoy...If you choose Ontario, hit me up make i buy you 2 bottles of your favourite when you land... grin grin

How do people in Calgary/Edmonton send items to people back home without having to wait for someone who is travelling ?

Is there a cargo/Courier for small items ? e.g Laptops, footwears e.t.c

Who knows about Cargo/Courier business back to naija ( one need to consider this thing for side business), Consider the market and the profitability of it.

My brother or sister truth be told, it's not worth it at all. Please stay in Nigeria.

It's only worth it for those that don't have doubts. If you know you're having doubts don't bother at all. The stress here is too much, life is hard etc. Even the air we're breathing is taxed. Please just stay in naija and be managing the small small stress there, it's nothing compared to canada stress.

Meaning you have done 1 and 2 already, embarassed embarassed embarassed embarassed i wrote the 2 on the last day of November and got 72% with an expected pass mark of 75%.
I just jumped to 3( no time to waste), since i have to wait for 2 months before i can write the 2 again.
Having CIA and CISA is a good idea, but start applying for jobs as soon as you have the CIA alone( no dulling, you will get interviews).

I have my CISA already, thinking of doing something on Data Analytics as soon as i finish with CIA.
Writing the stage 3 in February also, but the part 3 book too big sha, (By the grace of God)

Hi hayor2014,

I would like to connect with you. I trust it would be a blessing.

Can PM you please?

I would be writing CIA Part 3 in a couple of days. Also hope to write CISA as soon as possiblypracticable once I land in mid-March.

Many thanks.

What about someome who obtained a Nigerian driver's license in march 2019 and planning to land March 2020, must such person also start from scratch in Canada ?

I don't really think you will start from the scratch, speaking from my experience in Calgary, I got my Original drivers license in January 2019 and landed Canada in March 2019.
My Nigerian drivers licence was accepted from me, I was asked if i was a new driver, told them i had been driving for over 10 years but i did not know i was carrying a fake licence all along , i found out it was fake when i wanted to renew just before coming to Canada( absolute truth), and the Nigerian licence was accepted from me, did my knowledge test and told to book whenever i was ready for road test, but i have not done the road test sha tongue tongue tongue tongue ( eez Canada up and down that has not made me do it, I never balance well.)
Summary, come with whatever ORIGINAL you have with you , it just might be accepted.

@bolded thanks for the advice, so you mean CIA is much recognized in Canada?

It is very very recognized.
you will see CPA on 10 out of 10 internal audit vacancies
you will see CIA and/or CISA on 8 out of 10 internal audit vacancies
you will CISA alone on 1 out of 10 internal audit vacancies.

you could also check glassdoor.ca , so you will see for your self and make and objective decision.
