Ginomel: It seems the stress in Canada is comparable to that of Nigeria, though in a different way.
It looks like a case of one stress, relocated to another type of stress considering what I am reading here.
Does it worth it coming to Canada.
Someone should tell me the truth There is no truth to be told here, Canada is a place to work hard and hustle, else...you will SUFFER on a serious note, you simply need a lot of research done, What do you and your partner wanna do when you get here ? what qualifications do you have ? what qualifications are accepted here for the job you intend to do ? Are you willing to become a student again ? Are there certifications you need to take.. On the short run, thing might be tough but you simply need to keep your eyes on the prize. I advise friends to start writing their professional exams(CIA and CISA for Auditing) from naija ( a mistake i made), interestingly no one has listened to me so far, I am presently working part time and writing my exams also. is it easy ?......HELL NO, but i have my eyes on the prize and will do whatever i need to to get the certifications.( 2 stages down....2 to go) In summary, No 2 stories are the same, luck/destinies are different , the opportunities here are so much and they defy age, gender or religious barriers. It all depends on you. |

Hi In my Opinion this is a scam. 1st . A linkedin search of the company did not produce any result on Quebec, which is supposed to be their office location. 2nd. look at this link https://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/threads/ehd-initiative.672144/3rd This address ( 12 Street Regis Blvd,Montreal, QC) puts you in front of a Temple of Murugan.... 4th. The only review for that EHD was done by one Julius Olu , who did other reviews in Uganda. That is my Opinion.....Peace 7wonder: Hello. Please, I don't Intend to derail the thread. I believe we have good persons here who can be of great assistance. Please I came across a program called END HUNGER AND DISEASE INITIATIVE based in Canada. I don't know if there are legit or it's a scam. Please someone help with info. I am grateful. God bless us. iaatmguy: if you are going to use your ICAN for conversion to acca and by extension CPA, you must have sat for the exam and passed BEFORE YOU LAND into Canada, else the Mou between acca and CPA won't be applicable to you You are not mandated to pass before landing, it's to be registered before leaving your home country |

safex: I don't think it's absolutely useless though. A landed senior once told me one could actually use ICAN to claim CPA exemption in order to write only the final stage. He even mention one particular grant one could take sef. I'm not sure how easy that is though
PS: I'm in the ICAN boat too the issue is the number of papers you still have to write... It's as good as not even getting exemption |

salford1: If my memory serves me right, the building looks like one of Calgary Housing apartments used for one of their housing programs. A friend of mind lived here in 2014. The location is likely on 2nd St SW.
That is not the average rate of apartment in that condo. The cost of renting on one of those housing programs are usually lower than the market rates, if your yearly earning is lower than a particular fixed amount. They get renter's on a 1 yr lease term, which is subject to a yearly renewal that includes mandatory submission of renter's tax returns to check earnings for eligibility.
Maybe hayor2014 is looking for someone to take over the lease. Those condos are nice and well taken care of. Salford1 is very correct,it's on 2nd Street, it's a Calgary housing company owned building , that's the reason for the below market rental price.. My friend who used it for just 6 months, got a job in Edmonton, hence the reason for renting it out. |

Pls do you mean ACCA qualified or one must be registered as a student member of ACCA before coming in from Nigeria? I have 3 papers to qualification while in Nigeria and I landed in Canada few months ago so I'm still seeking info on ways to complete the papers left and get CPA certification.
Landed seniors please assist as well.
Thank you. Registered as a student number |

wellinjay891: My lady is in ACCOUNTING / BANKING and i'm in I.T ( mainly Mysql / Amazon Web Service ) she will most likely need a certification to get a fantastic job, thats IFC for banking,CPA for accounting or CIA for auditing depending on her previous experience, and I believe you will need certifications also.... Ontario should sincerely be your actual destination cos that's the hub for IT and Finance professionals ...but..if you know you still have a lot of exams to write that will land you fantastic jobs...I would say go to Alberta where the cost of living is relatively low and get something to do part time while you write the exams...once you are done writing....apply to all locations.... Ontario... Edmonton... Calgary... Ottawa....once you land a sweet job...pack your bag and move...my opinion I repeat |

phemocheee: Good morning folks. Please I have a good problem and I'm losing sleep over it already.
I'm currently in Calgary, staying with my cousin for about 2 months now. Just recently, I got a job here in Calgary and I'm expected to resume tomorrow. Let me also say that the pay is quite good too. However, last week thursday, I got another job at Ottawa and the difference in salary is about 18k (gross)
Both jobs are of the same category, Senior IT Security role.
Now to the main point: I'm seriously contemplating relocating my wife and son to Ottawa but my cousin feels the increase in salary is not material enough to offset the cost of living @ Ottawa in short and long term. He's of the opinion that staying close to family and friends in Calgary will be beneficial to me in the long run.
Please for folks living in both cities, which do you think is the best choice at this point in time? Should I stay in Calgary or move to Ottawa?
P.S My wife is also into IT Security but she's yet to get a job in Calgary yet.
Thanks Your cousin is correct, 18k is not worth the move, cost of living there is way higher than the 18k ....once ur wife has all the needed certifications ...she will land her own job..... |

LecturerIFE: Just tryna "resuscitate" this convo... any hope this will ever see the light of day?
Given the paucity of info from both ICAN and CPA, converting ICAN to ACCA appears to be the only choice here... especially if one doesn't wish to write the cpa exams.
To think CPA announced an MRA with the accountancy body in Zimbabwe this past April, while ICAN is busy fighting the local bodies in the country. Sigh . There is nothing to resuscitate oooo...ICAN useless pass anything, eez to be uploading useless photos on Instagram they know.. |
