I have every reason to believe the black man is cursed!
The British left Nigeria, with all the World's potential-- 50 years later, poverty capital of the world!
The Boers were eased out in South Africa-- 30 years later, corruption, unemployment, rape, HIV and abject poverty are are at unrivalled rates amongst the black (ruling) population.
As repressive as the Boers were, they built South Africa to what it is today. They started from the scratch, had to fight the (superior) British who herded them like dogs and built a beautiful nation out of nothing.
Power is handed over to the black man and shame is all I feel! Has anyone watched sessions of the South African Parliament? It is shameful!
The black South African's response is to loot (in the 21st century!), in answer to a perceived competition from foreigners. Competition for what kind of jobs if I may ask? High end ones or the shitty one?
...and this sordid story is the same the world over, from the Carribeans, to Africa, the Americas and the Pacific-- I really believe the black man is cursed! |

yemex04: Sorry for this question, What was ur course of study in the university? Which university did u attend?
For the record, from available statistics and rankings, CU is far better than other privately owned universities in Nigeria. It remains the only private university that competes favourably with the likes of UI, OAU, UNILAG and some first generation universities.. Don't mind the naysayer-- I felt bile rise in my tummy while reading his comment! I attended a federal university, one of the 'supposed' best in the country, but I won't advice anybody to attend one, except your course of study is in the health sciences. I spoke poorly of Private Universities myself, but Covenant University is heads and shoulders above the rest-- their graduates are a delight for HR executives. Why would I subject a young student to the uncertainties of year of graduation and sadistic lecturers? CU has been maligned and derided, but things keep getting better for them. Last last...if you no get money hide your face! |

The tax rate band is 45% of 100,000 which is £45,000
If you divide 45,000 by 12 months that's £3750 So your income tax bill is £3750 a month

adonainana: I am not even sure you know what you are talking about now sir, but whatever it is, please i agree that you are not rich.
Because from our discussion so far, i have evidence to believe you are not rich.
Going to university for 5 years and graduating and getting a job asa a engineer, lawyer does and would not make define you as middle class. If it does then every graduate will be middle class, here in Nigeria, UK, USA etc.
Dont forget i told you come to the UK and see what the average salary is, who told you there are not doctors, lawyers, engineers on this average salary i told you about. If professions determine your social economic class, what about people who dont belong to any profession and they are the providers and distrubutors of wealth for these so called professionals
Where are you going to place them sir.
Please look for families who send thier kids abroad to foreing universities and pay crazy tuition fees in naira. Tell them i said they are the Middle Class of the Nigerian economy, they are just a few of them, they sometimes complain too they there isnt much left, so they arent rich rich either, but there are not poor poor at all, They are in the Middle ground in between hence the word Middle class
Please sir know where you stand in this equation Parents sending their kids to school abroad (from Nigeria) don't consider themselves Middle Class. Nigerians ( majority of Nigerians) don't consider themselves Middle Class-- the country is that poor! Your Owerri big boys don't consider themselves Middle class, they believe they are well-off. That's how poor the country is. A Doctor ( Consultant) on the average doesn't make 1.5million a month. So you mean to tell me that in Nigeria a Consultant or university professor is considered below Middle Class? If you Google middle class on your phone, the first thing that pops up is professions-- that's the easiest way to delineate classes. The next is income, which in most cases follows the lines of professions. Your arguement is soooo flawed! If your arguement of middle class in Nigeria is 1.5million and above, then the middle class is almost non-existent-- then we only have the rich and the poor! |

I think you must be dreaming and fantasising about unsual things.

Just to burst your burble further, there are some properties in banana island worth billions of naira that Home owners in the UK will never be able to buy till they die

If you are from PH, ABA, Owerri go there and see people making 1 million naira per month with ease. They are not extremely rich people, they are in between the Rich people you see in between V,I and Banana Island and the poorest of the poorest you see in Nigeria
Please learn to learn new things, your salary in the UK is poor to the standard of the equivalent salary earner here in Nigeria.
This is a fact
How much someone earns determines which scale bracket they fall into not the profession, so i dont understand this doctor , etc you are shouting, the profession does not determine which class where you are
It is how much real income you are earning
Hope this is making sense to you now I have never considered myself rich, at least not yet... I loved in Lekki, when I was in Nigeria, so don't you spout off! I have friends making well above 1 million a month, and in Nigeria they are not considered middle class... Nigeria is that poor! Socio-economic classes are clearly defined along the lines of proffesions. It is the easiest way to segregate people. So if a Doctor/Lawyer/Engineer is not Middle Class, then where is he? Mind you I didn't say I earned 3k pounds a month, it's more than that. The actual amount is my business. |

And please you dont have to live in Banana Island to be middle class in Nigeria, Go to Owerri, Porharcourt, Enugu, Calabar and see young rich middle class millionaires. There kids end up attending expensive private schools in Nigeria and end up paying raw cash about £9,000 for tuition abroad.
Please can you tell me how many people who live in the UK can afford to pay £9,000 every year like its nothing. Please even that your friend that earns £60,000, tell him to his needs to send his kid abroad and pay £9,000 and see if he wont commit suicide.

So these artisans you talking about now, i wonder where they fit in this equation.
Come and see lawyers here with 10 years experience on £35,000 salary
Please confirm all of this with the working class friends you may have right now in the UK
Also sir, someone buying up a whole street in London is not a working class individual
He may just be weathly enough to do so, There are a lot of millionaires and billionaires on the planet from different countries, buying and selling a property is not new.
So forget what the indians and paki have been trying to tell you.
Also your last paragrapgh vindicates my point, yes the naija guy would be left with so much from his 1.5 million naira that he would be able to afford to come to London and shop in Harrods every month. Yes this happens all the time
Now can the UK equivalent guy who has just earned £3,000 go to dubai every month and spend from his salary what he is not sure would even last him till the end of the month, the answer is NO
So the Naija guy is richer than him cos he would even come to London every month, spend spend spend then go back home cos he is way way much better What CEO earns 3000 pounds monthly? Maybe CEO of a shop! I don't know what kind of friends you keep or circles you role in. I know several people who earn more than 3000 pounds and they are no where near anything like CEO. A friend sent me his paycheck some months back and it was 6600 pounds-- young Nigerian guy! For the Nigerian guy earning 1.5 million... It's good money in Nigeria, yes, but he won't live in a poor area. In Lagos, he lives on the Island, pays rent of say 2.5 million, minus electricity. ...He pays for health ( worse if you don't have health insurance) and school fees ( if he has kids), and it has to be according to 1.5million salary standard. Hospitals on the Island, deposit for admission would be at least 250K, even if you have malaria. Then school fees would shatter your brain! All of these are free in some parts, once you pay rent ( and it's attached bills) and food, you are good to go. 70 percent of Nigerians will slide into poverty if they have an illness like kidney failure, but people still bounce around (like say nothing dey) in the UK. All the tax paid in the West is geared towards making their lives better. The plan is for as many people to live comfortable lives. I have been to British Parliament and gone to the Prime Minister's office-- nothing grand. The rug in front of Theresa May's office showed it had been used very well! The idea is to manage resources so as many people will live well. Mind you 1.5 million naira earner in Nigeria CANNOT gallivant up and down-- no MONTHLY Harrod's or Dubai or anything, the money no reach. In the international market, it's still Forex you will pay. |
