Eliminate Boko Haram from the face of the earth, Buhari tells military President Muhammadu Buhari has told the military that the war against Boko Haram is a must win and they should know that their duty is to eliminate Boko Haram from the face of earth. Buhari, who urged the armed forces to remain focused and committed in ensuring that the task was achieved, also called on them to be vigilant during the 2019 electioneering. Addressing top military officers at the Chief of Army Staff Annual Conference in Maiduguri, Borno State, Buhari said, “I will be visiting some of our injured troops in hospitals and also talk to others at their bases to assure them of our continued support. It is a must win war; I want to encourage our troops not to be distracted by speculations but to remain focused and committed to the task of eliminating Boko Haram from the face of earth.” Buhari, who admitted that the war on the insurgents suffered some setbacks recently, said, “One of the cardinal objectives of this government is security. In this regard, the Nigerian Army’s efforts have led to the dislodgement of insurgents from areas hitherto viewed as their strongholds, rescue of abducted persons, return of internally displaced persons and the gradual return to normalcy in the North -East. “The effort of the military has also stabilised the security situation in the Niger Delta and other parts of the country and curtailed the clashes between herdsmen and farmers. “I must commend the selfless sacrifices of our armed forces especially the heroic officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army who by virtue of their commitment to operations all over the country have brought about the desired peace.” “The officers and soldiers who are fighting against the scourge of terrorism in the North-East deserve all the attention our country’s leadership can demonstrate to them. “As President of the country, I am determined to ensure that every citizen feels safe and secure in all parts of the country. To achieve this, the security agencies must rise to the challenge and curb threats to security in our country.” He said: “The Armed Forces play a critical role in safeguarding the country, hence you must all ensure that your plans and programmes meet the challenges we face. “I am glad that this conference is holding at this time, because it serves as a platform to assess and evaluate your performance for the Year 2018. “There has been a remarkable improvement in the security situation in the North-East since 2015 when this administration came into government and you are a major part of the successes that have been achieved. “I am aware that in the recent months and in recent days, there have been some operational losses in the northern part of Borno State, particularly in Jilli, Arege and Metele.” The President who held a minute silence for soldiers recently killed by insurgents in Metele, said, “I know that you are doing your best to reverse this trend and I want to assure you that no effort will be spared in providing the necessary support you require to complete the task. We remain committed to ending the crisis in the North-East and making the entire area safe for all. I urge you all to keep up the good work.” He said: “I am also painfully aware that some gallant officers and soldiers have paid the supreme price in the course of these anti-terrorist operations. While we remember them, I must also convey the deep gratitude of the government and people of Nigeria to the late soldiers and their families for their heroic sacrifices. Our thoughts and prayers are also with all other victims of Boko Haram’s atrocities and their families.” He told them that: “As we approach the 2019 general elections, I want to urge all members of the Armed Forces to live up to their responsibilities and remain non-partisan.” Speaking at the conference, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai said the conference was moved from Benin to Maiduguri because of recent happenings and because of the desire of the Commander-in-Chief to personally be with the soldiers to see them and to show that they were in his plan. Our correspondent noted that all the major roads in the town were closed and motorists were diverted from the major highways as early as 7am, making many school pupils who were taking their examinations to get to school late. He said, “The advantages of specialisation is that most of the problems in Nigeria will be solved if we get education right. Of the 166 universities in Nigeria, about half of them don’t have faculties of education, including private universities. The Federal Government should have established specialised universities of education. We should have at least one in each of the six geo-political zones in the country.” Lauding the effort of the school’s staff in producing well rounded teachers, Arigbabu added, “Our products are testimonies of the structure of our programmes. They are knowledgeable in pedagogy. TASUED is fulfilling the mandate for which it was set up. They all finished with a certification in vocational studies. This will help them create jobs for themselves and supplement the teaching jobs they may get.” Source: www.amebo9ja.com

Imo undergraduate poisons self after rift with boyfriend An undergraduate of the Imo State University, Owerri, Jennifer Agomuo, has allegedly taken her own life after a disagreement with her boyfriend, simply identified as Johnson. The tragedy which occurred in one of the hostels in the Aladinma Alliance area of the school on Wednesday night, threw the university community into mourning. Our correspondent gathered that the 21-year-old Agomuo was a 300-level student of the Department of Computer Science of the university. A source in the institution told our correspondent that the undergraduate poisoned herself after allegedly stabbing her boyfriend over an undisclosed issue. The source said, “A student of our school has taken her own life. She was studying computer science and was supposed to graduate in 2019. She was in her third year. “She poisoned herself after stabbing her boyfriend. Sources at the hostel said that the deceased thought that she had killed her boyfriend. Out of fear, she took her own life.” “Her boyfriend, who was rushed to Federal Medical Centre, Owerri, did not, however, die. He is currently recuperating. She ate the poisonous substance out of fear that she had killed her own boyfriend. “This is tragic. It is highly absurd. It is regrettable because these kinds of things are what we watch in Bollywood and Nollywood. Her remains have been taken to the mortuary.” Confirming the incident, the Public Relations Officer of the university, Obi Njoku, said the institution was in a state of confusion over the “irritating news.” Njoku, who wondered the gravity of disagreement between a man and a woman that would make a young lady to take her own life, advised students to pay less attention to frivolities and “marry their books.” The IMSU spokesperson added that the institution would investigate the incident to find out what actually happened. Finally, Chelsea legend Didier Drogba confirms his retirement from football after 20 years Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has confirmed his retirement from playing, ending “an amazing 20 years”. The 40-year old Ivory Coast striker had two spells at Chelsea, scoring 164 goals in 381 games, winning four Premier Leagues and the 2012 Champions League. He spent the last 18 months of his career with US side Phoenix Rising, the club he co-owns. “After 20 years, I have decided to put an end to my playing career,” he told BBC World Service’s Sportshour. It had been expected Drogba would retire after the United Soccer League Cup final earlier this month, with his last game a 1-0 defeat by Louisville City in the final of the United States’ second tier. “It’s the best way to end, helping some young talent to develop. To give something back to the game was the best way to finish as I have learned so much in the game.” Drogba did not play top-flight football until the age of 23, when French side Guingamp signed him from Ligue 2 Le Mans in January 2002. He moved to Marseille 18 months later and the following year completed a reported £24m move to Chelsea, where he had the best spell of his career. Drogba won three Premier League titles in his first eight years at Chelsea, including in each of his first two seasons in England, as well as four FA Cups and two League Cups. He also won the Premier League Golden Boot in 2006-07 and 2009-10. He left on a high, scoring the winning penalty in the Champions League final shootout against Bayern Munich. Drogba then spent six months with Shanghai Shenhua and a year and a half with Galatasaray before returning to Chelsea. He scored seven goals in 2014-15, winning a fourth Premier League title and a third League Cup, leaving the club as their fourth highest scorer of all time. In 2015, he joined Major League Soccer side Montreal Impact and then became player-owner of Phoenix Rising. He scored 65 times in 105 caps for the Ivory Coast, playing in three World Cups and being named African Footballer of the Year twice. Prepare to concede defeat like Jonathan, Frank tells Buhari A former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, Timi Frank, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to emulate former President Goodluck Jonathan, by preparing to concede defeat in 2019. According to him, all indications have shown that history will repeat itself in the 2019 presidential election. In a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday to congratulate Jonathan on his 61st birthday and the public presentation of his book, Frank said the former President had written his name in gold by allowing democracy to survive even when he had power to truncate it. Frank said the calibre of persons that attended his book presentation on Tuesday showed that the former President was popular and acceptable. He urged Buhari to get a copy of the book and not only read but turn it into a handout on democratic lecture. Frank said most Nigerians, including him, did not value the fresh air ex-President Jonathan brought to Nigeria until the current administration took over in 2015. He said, “The change we brought (which I sincerely regret) has turned to chain that has destroyed all the good legacies my older brother Jonathan left behind.” “Under APC government today, bloodshed, which Jonathan discouraged is now the order of the day, Killings and corruption are more pronounced than before. “Nigerians will not forget the role Buhari played after the 2011 general elections which he lost. His undemocratic tendencies engineered the crisis that later claimed several lives, including some corps members, innocently serving their fatherland. “I, therefore urge the incumbent to prepare his hand-over note, learn a shock-absorber tactics from former President Jonathan should he lose the election in 2019.” Culled: Punch Read More: https://amebo9ja.com/prepare-to-concede-defeat-like-jonathan-frank-tells-buhari/ Cc; Mynd44

Facebook: I have no plans to resign , says Zuckerberg Embattled Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said Tuesday he has no plans to resign, sounding defiant after a rough year for the social platform. “That’s not the plan,” Zuckerberg told CNN Business when asked if he would consider stepping down as chairman. He also defended Facebook chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg, who has drawn criticism over her handling of the social media giant’s recent crises. “Sheryl is a really important part of this company and is leading a lot of the efforts for a lot of the biggest issues we have,” said Zuckerberg. “She’s been an important partner to me for 10 years. I’m really proud of the work we’ve done together and I hope that we work together for decades more to come.” Facebook has stumbled from one mess to another this year as it grappled with continuing fallout from Russia’s use of the platform to interfere in the 2016 US presidential election, the Cambridge Analytica scandal in which user data was harnessed in a bid to help candidate Donald Trump, and a huge security breach involving millions of accounts. Most recently, an investigative piece published last week by The New York Times said Facebook misled the public about what it knew about Russia’s election meddling and used a PR firm to spread negative stories about other Silicon Valley companies and thus deflect anger away from itself. “It is not clear to me at all that the report is right,” Zuckerberg said of the Times article. “A lot of the things that were in that report, we talked to the reporters ahead of time and told them that from everything that we’d seen, that wasn’t true and they chose to print it anyway.” Zuckerberg also defended his company against the broader wave of flak it has taken this year. “A lot of the criticism around the biggest issues has been fair, but I do think that if we are going to be real, there is this bigger picture as well, which is that we have a different world view than some of the folks who are covering us,” he said. “There are big issues, and I’m not trying to say that there aren’t… But I do think that sometimes, you can get the flavor from some of the coverage that’s all there is, and I don’t think that that’s right either.” AFP. Suspected cultists gouge out seven-year-old boy’s eyes Some unidentified gunmen, suspected to be cultists, gouged out the eyes of a seven-year-old boy, Monday Ajeh, during an invasion of Agaza village in the Keana Local Government Area ofNasarawa State. Narrating his son’s predicament on Tuesday, the 47-year-old father of the victim, Mr Agadi Ajeh, said he was sleeping at home with members of his family when he heard his son screaming for help. According to him, he discovered that Monday had been abducted and taken away by his assailants around 1.00am on Thursday. He added that a search party was immediately raised to look for the boy, who was subsequently found in a pool of blood with his eyes missing from their sockets. Agadi added that the kidnappers had blindfolded the victim, tied his two legs and hands and removed his eyes, leaving him lifeless on the ground. The shocked father said, “Who could have done this to my son at that time of the night? They kidnapped him from my residence, while I was sleeping, and took him about two kilometres away from the village.” On sighting the attackers, Agadi explained that his son shouted for help, but he was abducted by the suspected cultists. Confirming the incident in an interview in Lafia, the Nasarawa State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Samaila Usman, said the victim had earlier reported to his parents that some people threatened to kidnap and remove his eyes, but the parents ignored the complaint. Usman said the command had already deployed its men in the scene of the incident to ensure that those behind the heinous act were arrested and prosecuted. Usman stated, “The parents ignored the complaint by their son; they did not show any concern or report the matter to the police on time. And some weeks later, while on their farm, some unknown persons kidnapped their son and took him away to a distance of about two kilometres before they removed his two eyes and left the body. “It was the following day that the parents reported the matter to the police station in Keana Local Government Area of the state.” The police spokesperson added that Ajeh was being treated at the Dalhatu Araf Specialist Hospital, Lafia. Obasanjo warns against handover of Nigeria to thieves, hooligans The echoes of the 2015 presidential election won by President Muhammadu Buhari reverberated on Tuesday as former President Goodluck Jonathan presented his book, ‘My Transition Hours,’ to the public in Abuja. Dignitaries that included Buhari, former Heads of State in Nigeria and West Africa, former ministers and traditional rulers took turns to shower encomiums on the former President for conceding defeat in the election. Buhari was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha. Jonathan himself admitted that some unnamed individuals both in Nigeria and outside the country expressed surprise at his decision. He said the people concerned kept asking him why he would allow the result of the election to stand without contesting it in court. But his guests took turns to commend him for the decision which they said led to the peace the nation currently enjoys. Jonathan said the twin issue of Boko Haram insurgency and the abduction of Chibok girls were used against him during elections. Jonathan said, “Whenever I travelled out, people asked me, ‘why did you concede defeat, why did you make that phone call. Why didn’t you go to court?’ “The book reviewer has revealed everything and if you read the book, you will understand. The book centres mainly on the election. I mentioned some negative things, it’s like the life of an individual, it can be positive while it can also be negative. “There were certain issues in government that were used against me during election, like the issue of Boko Haram and the Chibok girls. In fact, some people said I brought Boko Haram to reduce the voting population of the North so that I can win the election.” He added, “So, I commented on the Chibok girls, it was one of the points that was really used by politicians. Of course, I don’t blame them. Maybe if it was me, I would have done the same thing. “I also took the issue of corruption so that young Nigerians will understand the issue, where it started if anybody knows. I have made some suggestions to encourage future governments to tackle corruption. “I also used the opportunity to make a little suggestion about our elections.” Jonathan raised the alarm over the issue of vote-buying which he said had become scandalous in the country. He suggested a change in the way polling booths are erected as one of the ways of tackling the problem. “The issue of vote-buying is becoming scandalous in Nigeria. While inducing candidates is wrong and is criminalised in other countries, in Nigeria it is seen as normal and this is wrong. “My suggestion is that we should begin to look at the way we build polling booths, we should copy other countries that use public buildings like schools for elections. “So one school will be one polling unit and it will be easier for the police to police that unit and it will be difficult for someone who is in a classroom to show you his ballot paper since you cannot pay somebody until you have access to see his ballot paper. If we have a polling booth that you cannot access the ballot paper, then the issue of outright vote-buying will reduce,” he said. 2019: Buhari, Atiku unveil plans as campaigns begin President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday asked Nigerians to re-elect him in 2019, primarily to keep fighting the corruption war his administration started in 2015. He also stated that his commitment to the provision of infrastructure, rebuilding the economy and sustaining the anti-insurgency war would be re-doubled if given a second opportunity. Buhari spoke in Abuja at the unveiling of his 2019 campaign document, titled, ‘The Next Level.’ The two-part document also showcased the achievements of his administration in the past three years, especially in the provision of infrastructure and tackling insecurity. The event took place at the Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Abuja. The President, whose speech was devoted more to corruption, noted that except the county was rid of the problem, it would get nowhere. He stated, “To succeed, moral integrity and conscience must continue to form the dominant character of our nation and its leadership. “Corruption is an existential threat to Nigeria. Despite the gains we have made in closing the gates, we know that there is still much ground to be covered to stop systemic corruption. We are committed to deepening the work we started this past term. “The nation’s assets and resources will continue to be organised and utilised for the good of the common man.” The President told Nigerians that they would either leave him in office to fight corruption or allow the county to return to the past. Buhari added, “The next four years will be quite significant for our country. Nigeria is faced with a choice to keep on building a new Nigeria or to go back to its tainted past, which favoured the opportunistic few. “Our choices will surely shape us, defining clearly, our economic security and our future prosperity. Nigeria, more than ever before, needs a stable and people-focused government to move the development of our county forward. “Join us in this journey to the next level, for a strong and stable Nigeria…” Buhari announced that at least 15 million new jobs would be created in the next phase of his administration if re-elected. The President called on all candidates and political parties to be peaceful. He said, “I urge all candidates and supporters of all political parties to go about their campaigns peacefully and decently. As I always say, we have no other country but Nigeria. Let us not set it ablaze because of politics of sectional interestss.” At the event, selected ministers spoke on the “achievements” of the Buhari administration. For instance, the Minster of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola (SAN), spoke on road infrastructure, power and housing provisions. Fashola said work was ongoing on 365 roads. He stated that 244 of the roads were awarded in 2001 and abandoned, adding that Buhari revived them for completion. The Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, praised Buhari for insisting that all the rail projects inherited from the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan were not abandoned. I’ll privatise nation’s four refineries, NNPC – Atiku Also on Sunday, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, formally released his policy document aimed at wooing voters for the 2019 elections. The 63-page document titled, ‘Let’s get Nigeria working again,’ captured his plan for the nation’s critical sectors. Atiku categorises his mission into three: unity, security and prosperity. Under what he tagged, ‘Refining and Petrochemical Infrastructure,’ the former vice- president promised to privatise all the nation’s four refineries if voted into office in February 2019. He said the decision became necessary because the four refineries with a total installed capacity of 450,000 barrels per day had operated sub-optimally over time. Atiku noted that the refineries had struggled to produce at 10 per cent of installed capacity. He described Nigeria as the most inefficient member of the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries in terms of both the percentage of installed refining capacity that worked and the percentage of crude refined. He said, “We shall prioritise investment in nameplate capacity and ensure that Nigeria starts to refine 50 per cent of its current crude oil output of two million barrels per day by 2025. “We shall privatise all four outstanding government-owned refineries to competent off-takers with mandates to produce agreed levels of refined output. “We shall issue new licences for Greenfield investment in crude oil refining and allied activities,” adding, “We shall introduce market-friendly fiscal and pricing policies.” Atiku said the objectives of the policy were, among others, to create one million new jobs within 10 years via petrochemicals and petrochemicals-based activities, as well as to build enabling infrastructure to add value to the economy via the development of petrochemical facilities. As part of efforts to promote the oil and gas sector, Atiku said he would partially privatise the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation to ensure transparency and accountability of the oil firm. He also promised to reconsider the introduction of the marginal fields’ bid round and oil blocks’ bid round as well as the building of modular refineries in the northern parts of the country. The PDP candidate said he would deploy modern technology in pipeline surveillance and other security enhancements as well as intensify engagement with local communities in the oil production zones. Promising to embrace restructuring, Atiku said his administration would decongest the exclusive and the concurrent list in the Constitution. He stated that the Federal Government would retain the role of providing required direction for the economy, defence and national security, internal law and order, currency, international affairs and foreign policy, customs, citizenship and immigration, firearms and related matters. He added, “Issues bordering on minerals and mines, internal security including police, law and order, railways, communications, transport, environment, land matters etc would be devolved to the concurrent list. “Local governments shall become an independent tier of government, generating units will be supported in economy management. “Nigeria’s common resources will be shared equitably in accordance with a new revenue allocation formula to be negotiated across abroad.” On youths and women empowerment, the PDP candidate promised to break all barriers that prevented women from actualising their potential whether in adolescence or adulthood. He regretted that while women constituted 50 per cent of Nigeria’s population, they were less empowered financially, politically, socially, culturally and economically within and outside the home. Atiku promised to create a special tribunal for crimes against women. “We shall encourage states and the private sector to incentivise studies for girls in sciences, technology, engineering and mathematics. “We shall provide microfinance and financing schemes specifically targeted at the youth and women. “We shall create a special tribunal for crimes against women including domestic violence, physical or sexual abuse, rape.” He added, “We shall increase women representation and retention rates in politics and business, through positive action such as quotas for women on political platform and corporate boards. “We shall increase the number of appointments made to young people in government and in government committees.” Under his economic development agenda, Atiku said he would ensure a competitive and open economic system; reform public institutions; reduce infrastructure deficit; promote economic diversification; and human capital development. He said he would target the creation of three million self-and-wage-paying employment opportunities in the private sector annually. Atiku added that he would target all categories of youths, including graduates, early school leavers as well as out-of-school and unemployed youths. Atiku said he had a good grasp of the challenges facing Nigeria and would learn from the mistakes of the past, consolidate on the successes of previous regimes and build the future. The presidential candidate said he had an unwavering commitment to the principles of open, competitive and private sector-driven economy and was committed to building institutions. I’ll lift over 80 million people out of poverty – Ezekwesili The presidential candidate of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria, Dr Oby Ezekwesili, similarly kicked off her presidential campaign, saying she remained “the best man for the job.” Ezekwesili who is a former minister of education, released official photographs for the campaign. A terse statement by Aisha Yesufu, the Director of Special Projects for ‘Hope 2019’, the campaign organ of Ezekwesili, entitled, ‘Here comes the best MAN for the job, the woMAN,’ expressed optimism that by her track records, she would fight for Nigerians and the masses. Yesufu said, “The Obiageli ‘Oby’ Ezekwesili For President organisation – Hope 2019, has issued official campaign photos as it kicked off the INEC-approved campaign season. “Hope 2019 campaign kicked-off officially on Sunday with a thanksgiving service in Abuja, after which the candidate will go to her home state, Anambra, to officially get blessings from the royal father and other elders of her community. “We are excited and we can’t wait. The best MAN for the job in 2019 is definitely a woMAN and this woman we know by her track record, will #Fight4Naija.” Ezekwesili has promised to “lift over 80 million people out of poverty”, if voted into office in the 2019 general elections. She has therefore challenged her rivals to “bring up their doable programmes to better the lots of citizens.” According to her campaign organisation, watchers of the forthcoming general election in Nigeria have expressed the view that Ezekwesili remained the most prominent woman to run for the office of President in Nigeria’s history. While describing her pledge of lifting over 80 million Nigerians out of poverty through human capital development and technological innovation as unprecedented, the organisation said her plan to lift majority of Nigerians out of extreme poverty stood out as the most actionable strategy in the lead up to next year’s general elections in the country. Ezekwesili’s dream came on the heels of a recent pronouncement by the founder of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Bill Gates, that the world could overcome extreme poverty as demonstrated by countries including China, India, Mexico, South Africa. Ezekwesili said, “Beyond the rhetoric of this election season, it is clear to us that getting people out of debilitating poverty is the single most crucial assignment that we have. That is why we adopt this as the cornerstone of the #Oby4President campaign.” While lamenting that most aspirants to public office in the country were seeking political power for its sake, the campaign organisation said, “This position is premised on Oby Ezekwesili’s informed belief that only a prosperous people can take the nation into the future we all dream of.” She contended that since research had indicated that over 40 per cent of cases of extreme poverty could be found in sub-Saharan Africa, she promised by year 2050, “to turn around these tragic projections, we need to drastically change how we do things as a country. We cannot continue to vote in the incompetent leaders who put us into this poverty while expecting change to happen.” “It’s time to put in motion another wave of poverty reduction – which has slumped by over 1.2 billion people globally since 1990 – and we are more than ready to make this happen,” she stated. US, EU urge transparent campaigns, warn against hate speech As the campaigns for the 2019 elections commenced on Sunday, the United States, European Union and 23 other western nations have called for transparent campaigns in the run up to the polls. They also warned political and non-political actors against hate speech and violence, stressing that their concern was to see a process leading to free, fair, transparent and peaceful elections. The group in a joint statement in Abuja on Sunday said they would follow the campaigns and monitor the election process closely. The statement was signed by the European Union (Delegation to Nigeria), France, Germany, United Kingdom, United States, Australia, Austria, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic and Denmark. Other signatories included Finland, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Republic of Korea, Romania, Slovakia, Spain and Sweden. The group said, “As friends of Nigeria and its people, we will follow the campaigns and election process closely. Who wins the elections is for the Nigerian people to decide. Our concern is to see a process leading to free, fair, transparent and peaceful elections. “We hope to see transparent campaigns and we urge all voters to use their democratic right and vote. We are particularly keen to see greater participation of women, youth and people living with disabilities. “We urge all involved – political and non-political actors – to refrain from using hate speech and take a firm stance against violence. The 2015 Peace Accords played an important role in that regard and we welcome new efforts towards that end.” The coalition expressed concern over widespread incidents of intimidation, interference and vote-buying during the recent elections. “We were also perturbed by irregularities and violence during party primaries, and noted with particular concern that several women candidates were disenfranchised,” it added. The statement reiterated the importance of the Independent National Electoral Commission, noting that the commission must be allowed to operate free from outside pressure and intimidation, and in turn must demonstrate full neutrality and professionalism. It said, “We encourage that adequate funding is swiftly facilitated for INEC and supporting institutions, and we hope to see the entry into force of improvements to the Electoral Act as soon as possible. “We wish to draw particular attention to the fundamental role of the security agencies in providing a safe and secure environment for the Nigerian people to exercise their democratic rights. “It is vital that security agencies act, and are seen to act, in an impartial manner that maintains the high standards of professional conduct.” Culled: Punch See more:: https://amebo9ja.com/2019-buhari-atiku-unveil-plans-as-campaigns-begin/
