One thing though, i feel name acquisition should not be based on SH marketplace insight. What I'm saying is, we should not buy names bacause SH will accept it, but rather because it will sell no matter the marketplace it's listed.

Using 2 people as an example.

Judgemind aka BrandAim has 80% of his names listed on SH, most of his acquisitions are based on SH insight. Tonynames acquisitions are not influenced by SH, though the guy has had a vast knowledge of domain acquisition before joining domain community in 2020. Comparing their acquisitions and sales, i feel Tonynames has a bit of success rate compare to Judgemind.

SH is a good marketplace but should not influence in name acquisitions.

Lol. How do you managed to compare Tony and Judgemind? Tony is an SEO guy that has developed and sold websites in five to six figures($) over the past decades while Judgemind is just a guy that started domaining in 2008 by buying Handreg try to flip on NP for ×3 to ×5 and invest the funds into domaining.

Till now most of Judgemind domains are Handreg and drops while Tony buy on Auction for four to five figures, how did you put the two in the same sentence?

Judgemind just have around 1100 names on SH and about 3000 overall portfolio - majorly Handregs and drops. Tony have thousands - majorly Auctions. Tony hardly do handregs except for trends.

Back to your conclusion, if you really want to compare SH performance with an external entity like Tony, you should use Sten not Judgemind. Sten shared below screenshot today. 5 sales this month, 75 this year, can Tony match that? Sten have more than 80% of his names on SH (owns around 10%) of the marketplace.

Conclusively, I'm not justifying SH to be doing good as I also have hundreds of premium domains on the marketplace and I know what my STR looks like but don't put Tony and Judgemind in the same sentence.

It is pretty simple. Download the form and edit it online with PDF editor then forward it to SH support.

Nobody can give an accurate advise on how much you should sell a domain they don't know. You didn't even give enough information like the keyword, potential use case by industries, desirability, etc. Only you knows the domain name which means only you can valuate it. Every other advise given here is just from a sales point of view.

However, the mail from Afternic's sales rep shows clearly that the domain in question isn't anywhere worth your asking price of $8k. In his word (let's assume the agent is male), "the client started with a much lower offer but was eventually jacked up to 1k after extensive domain education on similar sales in the current market." If the domain were that valuable, I think the agent would have advised the client that 1k is a low offer.

From your response, it looks like you would have happily sold it if you can net above $1k after commission but you decided to shoot for the moon by countering $7k. In my opinion, it doesn't look like a very good decision that can help close the sale.

If you are starting out in domaining, getting sales, irrespective of the amount, will greatly help to boost your confidence. You don't sit on a domain and say you know it's worth much more than you are being offered. You can upgrade your portfolio when there is cashflow.

Firstly, you don't count on brokers especially Afternic/GoDaddy brokers they are known for manipulating sellers and makes them feel they are getting a good deal they can't get somewhere else which is totally far from the truth. Many Top sellers have shared there bad experience with GoDaddy brokers.

If the domain is really valuable like the guy claimed then I bet the broker will reach out to him with higher offer in couple of days and I guess the domain have something related to VR, XR and Ai.

And lastly it seems the guy is indecisive with the amount he wants for the domain because you can't have a reserve of $500 for a domain and get an offer $1000 then counter with $7000. This shows he didn't really have idea what he's doing because the broker actually worked with his reserve of $500 to walk the buyer to $1000.

I hope it closes at the end.

The best way to learn is to learn on your own. If you're really serious about this let me give you a roadmap;

1. Visit this thread: https://www.nairaland.com/5822942/earning-dollars-squadhelp-brandable-domains read the first 50 pages (you should be able to do that between today and Tomorrow). Follow the guidelines on the thread and start doing free submission on Squadhelp. You'll appreciate yourself for learning brandable and you'll have much to explore.

2. Come back to this thread and start from page 1 (you should be able to cover 20-50 pages daily if you're really serious about it). You're doing number 1 first so you won't get bored along the way.

3. Resist any urge to reg any names anytime soon. Before you reach page 500 you should have get the concept and be able to do it on your own.

4. Visit Namepros.com navigate to beginners section and read everything readable on the section.

3. Scrap website links on Google map, Google, Bing, and DuckDuckGo with instant data scraper then run the links via Clearbit to get decision maker mails for the domains I quoted.

4. Register new mails or warm your mails very well. Get letters with proven sales records (you should be able to get this if you're on any domain WhatsApp group). You can also go to Namepros and search "sales letters" and "outbound" you'll learn a lot.

5. You can write one if you can't get it. Avoid $, For sale, and hyperlink in your first outbound. You can include them in follow-ups.


6. Register on SquadHelp and BrandNewName. Check names that win contests and start submitting to contests. You can also start suggesting unregistered names to SH for start. Check their approval guidelines and new arrivals.

7. If you are on any GEO WhatsApp group( Domain professional or Duru's group). Make friends with people with the most reported sales, you'll learn a lot from them.

Lastly, you said you've sent around 2000 mails since you started in 2020, some of us here send as much as this in a day. If you have 50 mails, scheduling on each with streak(50 on each mail) will even keep you above 2000 sent emails per day. The sales reports you see here don't come out of nowhere, many folks here work tirelessly behind the screen.
