Back to your question, there many things to look into when choosing an extension but over all .com is king and the most sought after. Startup companies only go for other extension when the .com is not available or they can't avoid it. Check big tech/firms most uses .com(Facebook, Twitter, Tesla, and co)

Some new Crypto company tends to use .io because their preferred name .com extension is long gone. For ex. Kasta uses Kasta.io (check when Kasta.com was registered on NameBright.com and check where it is redirecting to) Shiba Token also uses .io but they use ShibaSwap.com as their exchange.

Over all, .com is the first thing that comes to any startup company mind but tends to deviate when they can't avoid it. Crypto startup then always prefer .io when the .com is gone.

That's what I do for a living. Currently sitting on hundreds of domains. I'm currently holding some other coins domain too. ShibaPay.com sold for $35k recently(not mine).

I started domaining last year September after reading this thread(1 to about 1600 then). I hand reg my first domain(I was having little cash then couldn't reg much) and I was lucky to flip for $350 then I reinvest and scale up from there.

Now have sold close to 40 domains on DAN with a portfolio of about 220. And also have about 114 premium on Squadhelp(about 48% mine). Is not about much you get to start but the knowledge you have to start. Keep reading.
