Politics / Re: 7 Same-sex Nigerians Demonstrate At Nigerian House In New York by hEvyAlien(m): 10:46pm On Dec 06, 2011
All in all, I think the law against same sex relationships should not stop there. I think there is a need to make illegal acts such as adultery, fornication, lying and disrespect to elders, After all, these are all run contrary to all our major religions and cultural tenants, But why let facts and common sense get in the way of our prejudices.

Some people like their partners fat, some slim, some people like pre-intimacy, some people like old fashioned mating, and some people just like their partners same sex. Why does anyone think it is ok to dictate the sexual preference of consenting adults? Btw does this law make threesomes illegal?

Even if a crime, same sex relationships are victimless. Not victimless however are the corruption, inequality, kidnappings, murder and rape that plague our country, But once again, why let facts get in the way of our prejudices.

I think it is interesting that same sex relationships exist in nature, between animals normally of heterosexual preference, I suggest we rid the world of those too, as well as anyone who does not share our opinions and beliefs, But facts are not important are they?

Nairaland used to be a forum filled with intellectuals when I joined up years ago. Now its dominated by people who respond to opinions to which they don't agree by cursing and insulting.

Tolerance is a pillar for civilised communities. We have a long way to go
Sports / Re: Siasia Wants N15m Per Month To Coach Eagles by hEvyAlien(m): 9:40am On Aug 14, 2010
its rather unfortunate but we Nigerians are the reasons why white people look down on us black people. So because Siasia is black he doesnt deserve to get the money he is asking for, ?What makes it right for a white coach to get paid huge sums of money

I have realised that the reasons why we are often discriminated against is cos we allow it, we have been raised or brought up to think been white gives you an edge and thats an absolute LIE.
Politics / Re: Gay Nigerian Activist Bisi Alimi Shares His Compelling Story by hEvyAlien(m): 1:22am On Aug 13, 2010
Hate in any form is unacceptable. Many of us get upset at the idea of racism, but discriminate against others because they do not share our views. I am yet to hear a single sensible reason for the prosecution of gay people, and challenge anyone to produce one. The way I see it, gay people believe something that I do not, and have different sexual preferences from most of us. How is this a basis for hate?
Family / Re: Monster In Law Or Mother In Law? by hEvyAlien(m): 12:51pm On Jul 10, 2010
I havent got any experience with mother-in-laws yet but i wld assume my soon to be mother-in-law sounds nice on the phone sha but i have got a lot of experience from my brothers and their wives and my very lucky sister whose mother-in-law died since infinity. i really think like the poster before me rightly said its a recipe for disaster cos put yourself in your mother-in-law's shoes and see if you wld like anyone to speak to you like that particularly taking into consideration our culture, moreso think abt someone speaking to your mum like that, i wld go into a rage and almost want to kill the person lols.

I think in the interest of peace diplomacy wld do and just develop a culture of having things planned for the weekend and do the visit more and try and not stay too close to your in laws cos for talk sakes if i was leaving in lagos and my in laws leave in ibadan imagine them coming without a call thats an impossibility cos they dnt want to come to our absence. well i can understand there are some ppl who arent as fortunate to stay far from inlaws but i guess in the end is just getting a hand of the situation and finding out what works best for your relationship with your mother-in-law cos if you treat a guys mum with blatant disrespect your auctioning your marriage away.

Politics / Re: Yerima Cannot Continue In Senate, Says Nba by hEvyAlien(m): 7:59pm On Jun 13, 2010
@Knowall. I don't think state law can overrule federal law. Otherwise you would have state houses drawing up laws to suit them and then Imagine the chaos. That said, Yerima defying the laws of the federation means he does believe he should be governed by the laws made in the house where he sits. In that case, he should not be be there, and should either resign or be forced out.

Clearly, Nigeria is a lie fed to the simple minded.

Romance / Re: Sex On A First Date - Does It Kill A Potential Relationship ? by hEvyAlien(m): 9:40pm On Nov 25, 2009
I dont agree cos there are babes who have dated guys for donkey years and they still get dumped so whether you have sex on the first date or two years after he has asked you out if your going to get dumped you wld still get dumped.

It also depends on if the guy has got a weak mind lols, cos i dont see a difference and i wonder why that should be a spoiler, just pray he has not got a weak mind.

Gaming / Re: Playstation 3 Ad: Sony Apologises to Nigerians by hEvyAlien(m): 12:28pm On Sep 11, 2009
Abegi,  all this noise. The Advert did not tell the world anything they don't already know,

If we'd been accussed falsely it'd be a different matter, or even if it was something we were deeply ashamed of, but Nigeria is still full of people who defend the activities of scammers, and even worse the abuse of government,  maybe thats why it hurts so much, (and is such a good advert grin) cuz its true. Believe me, if i too had belived every thing i read on the web i would have been a Nigerian Millionnaire.

I totally agree that leadership has to flow from the top down, however, i don't think the Nigerian situation is entirely the fault of the government, i think its the result of a decayed value system when money is the sole measure of success, without regard for how it is gotten. I think Nigeria has been let down by all our leaders, not just the Government, but also our religious and tribal leaders, who give special praise in the form of tittles, and religious positions to people of no credibility, as long as they have money.

Nice one to Sony on the apology, but what does it change?
Business / Re: Power Crisis: Senator Calls For Ban On Generators by hEvyAlien(m): 11:08pm On Aug 14, 2009
I thinks its an excellent idea, perhaps more than most people realise, 3 simple reasons

1. 150million angry Nigerians, leading to a situation where the government would have to actually provide power to survive politically, leading to government taking a serious stance, leading to motivation for power contracts to actually be carried out

2. Influential people would have no alternatives, motivation to exert influence to ensure power supply

3. Beneficiaries of Generator and diesel importation would lose the motivation to vandalise and suppress government efforts to provide power
