mikeansy:Thank you so much, Jonathan Badluck is the worst president ever. Very deceitful and too slow for a country like Nigeria that needs immediate solutions to her countless problems |
Pple should let this guy be, he has tried for naija music industry |
spachead:God bless you!! |
forpeace:Must you insult the whole tribe? do you know how many peoples' mothers, fathers, uncles et al you have just insulted? Stereotyping is still one of our major problems |
Among the 2, Ribadu is better because he has vision and intelligent too, Jonathan is just a confused being that does not know what to do the next minute, his romance with the corrupt politicians in the country is highly questionable, above all he is a deceit. Ribadu has scores to settle and one way or the other that will be to the benefit of the country(he might not be the best 4 d position, but he is far better than Badluck Jonathan |

hafizy:At his age thats the best deal he can get, who knows next season other clubs might want him if he performs well this season with Albion, just like Chelsea got Turnbull from M'brough. For football reasons its a good move. |

Cause some of those clubs don't usually expose players to other clubs to show off their talent.
Which better club could Mikel have moved to and who says he is not happy at Chelsea, Mikel's situation can only be a dream to so many Nigerian players. Nigeria international striker, Osaze Odemwingie, has agreed a three-year contract with English Premier League new boys, West Bromwich Albion. Odemwingie said: "Most likely I will join on Tuesday. I've already signed a contract. The have been left to negotiate among themselves and then my dream of playing in the English Premier League will come true. "I opted for West Brom because for a long time I've wanted to play in England. But I thank Panathinaikos for their interest. They are a big club.' West Brom boss Roberto Di Matteo saw his shot-shy forwards muster just one attempt on target during Saturday's 6-0 defeat by Chelsea. "What is holding back the announcement is just the paperwork between the Osaze’s Russian club, Locomotiv Moscow, and West Brom, as well as his work permit," a top source close to the striker told MTNFootball.com. "We have already done the bulk of the work permit application and we do not envisage any issues." The source further told MTNFootball.com: "The deal is for three years. He has passed his medical and he is already back in Moscow and I expect he will be unveiled later this week." The 29-year-old Odemwingie has already featured for French club Lille as well as La Louviere of Belgium. The transfer to England is a dream come true for the striker, who has never hidden his ambition to feature in the EPL and over the past couple of seasons he has been linked with several English clubs including Blackburn Rovers and Everton. He teamed up with Locomotiv in 2007. http://www.kickoff.com/news/17236/osaze-odemwingie-to-join-west-brom.php |
PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan Monday got the approval of the South-East to run in next year’s election. At a political summit, the region adopted him as its candidate. The decision was taken at its summit, which was attended by Ndigbo from all walks of life. It was gathered that the group resolved that a Jonathan presidency would bring development to the region. The main factor that determined the choice of Jonathan was said to be the desire to heal the wounds among the minorities of the former Eastern Region. It was said that everything should be done to ensure the return to the pre-1952 era when things worked harmoniously among the ethnic groups. Presenting the communiqué at the end of the summit, the Convener, Chief Mbazulike Amaechi, said the Jonathan ticket would depend on negotiation in which Ndigbo would table their expectations. Mbazulike explained that in considering national quest, Ndigbo would not accept to play the second fiddle in the country where they played leadership roles during the struggle for independence. He said: "At independence, Nigeria was made up of three regions, which later became four regions that were further divided into states by military fiat over which Ndigbo had little or no say. "The North has ruled the country for 33 years; the West 12 years; zoning or no zoning, rotation or not, the old Eastern region, for the sake of equity and justice, shall produce the next President of Nigeria. "The region that produced over 90 per cent of the wealth of the country should for a change have a prime position in the governance of the country. "That given the fact that what is now known as Bayelsa State used to be the Brass District of Eastern Region, and that the Eastern and Mid-Western regions have been marginalised in the presidency of Nigeria." In agreement with other leaders at the summit, Mbazulike endorsed Jonathan. He said: "consequently, the summit has decided to endorse the presidential aspiration of Dr. Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan." In attendance were Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Chief Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Mr. Chukwuemeka Ojukwu Jnr., who represented his father; Anlican bishop of Awka, M. S. C. Anikwenwa, Maxi Okwu, Osita Okechukwu, Dr. Dozie Ikedife and Senato Offia Nwali. |
Honestly, I really dont trust this Adeboye of a pastor anymore, the guy is always in the middle of embattled public office holders who were found wanting one way or the other |
More facts have emerged on why the sacked Director-General of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE), Dr. Ndi Okereke-Onyiuke was ignobly removed from office. She was said to have rebuffed the advice of both President Goodluck Jonathan and former President, Olusegun Obasanjo to resign her appointment after billionaire businessman, Aliko Dangote sent a petition to the Securities and Exchange Commission alleging financial infraction against her. She had run to the two men to intervene on her behalf. The sacked Director-General, according to sources close to her, is currently running from pillar to post to regain her exalted position. Besides the law suit of N3 billion against the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), challenging her removal, she is also said to have embarked on intense lobbying to make the capital market regulator rescind its decision. Okereke-Onyiuke had approached Jonathan first, but was shocked to be told it would be impossible for her to keep her job. She was given the option to resign. She then ran to Obasanjo, her mentor. But the former president was angry to learn from her, she had first approached Jonathan. So he simply gave her the same option: resignation. The troubled former NSE Director-General was also seen on the camp ground of the Redeemed Church of God and was understood to have met with Pastor Enoch Adeboye for prayers to keep her job. |
FORMER Vice-President Atiku Abubakar spoke Monday on the war of attrition between him and former President Olusegun Obasanjo when they were in office. He said he confronted Obasanjo when he realised that he was attempting to become a life president. Atiku, who spoke at a parley with media executives, said the disagreement had nothing to do with money or corrupt practices; it was all a power tussle. He also disclosed that though he did not require any waiver to run for president on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), he has written the party to request for a waiver. He said he was optimistic that the party would allow him to contest because the Dr. Alex Ekwueme report and the recommendations of the white paper that was approved by NEC had granted him automatic waiver. "I have filed for waiver and I know I will get it. I would want to see how I would be denied waiver. I don’t know how the PDP will get out of this. But if they try to get out of it, then the court is there to decide," he said. Asked if he fell out with the former president over money or power, Atiku said: "I can tell you, it was all about power. Not long after we came into power, Obasanjo called me and said that in 1979 he left Ghadaffi, Mubarak, Eyadema, Mugabe and some of them in office. And he has returned to meet them again, 20 years after. As soon as he said that, something struck me. "I told him that Nigeria is a different country and that when it was time, he just had to go. "Later in 2005, he also called me and said that Prof. Jerry Gana and Kanu Agabi were coming to see me. He said we should discuss. When they came, the three of us met and they brought out their files and proposed amendments to the constitution. For more than three hours, we went through the amendments and when we got to the section on tenure, they had removed the tenure limits. Then I knew that was why he asked me to meet with them. "I asked them why it was removed and they were looking at me. Then, I said to them, ‘Are you sure it was Obasanjo who sent you to me?’ They said ‘yes’. Then I asked if they were ready to take my message to him and they said ‘yes’. Then I told them to go and tell him that not only will I not support the idea, I will also fight it. So, they packed their files and left." Atiku went on: "After then, I knew there would be trouble. So, I quickly opened a secretariat at the venue of the Constitutional Conference, equipped it and then started mobilising against the plot." The former presidential candidate of the Action Congress of Nigeria (CAN) said unknown to many Nigerians, what Obasanjo was planning was not third term but life presidency. He said he resolved to fight with his last blood to ensure that Obasanjo’s dream was never realised. "I knew then that what he was planning was a life presidency, having compared with Ghadaffi, Mubarak and the rest. I told him that this is Nigeria and not any of those countries he was referring to. So, that was it. It was not about money or corruption. "I knew Baba (Obasanjo) was not looking for third term, but he was looking for life presidency. And I was prepared to give my head for that. It is not for myself, but for Nigeria," he said. He, however, said he has genuinely forgiven Obasanjo after the reconciliation that was was brokered by Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola. |
Premier League Preview: Manchester United – Newcastle United * Kick-off: Monday August 16, 20:00 BST * Old Trafford, Manchester The game has echoes of 2008 when these two sides also met on the opening day at Old Trafford. On that occasion the Magpies left with an impressive 1-1 draw and high hopes for the season ahead. Whilst Manchester United may have lost their crown Newcastle United did finish the season as champions after gaining promotion back to the Premier League at the first attempt and ensuring their stay in the Championship was limited to just one season. Manager Chris Hughton has since admitted that whilst he is unsure of what the season holds for the Tynesiders, there has been no talk of avoiding relegation at St James’ Park. The Newcastle boss has been active in the transfer market bringing in James Perch, Dan Gosling and Sol Campbell whilst rumours of a deal for Marseille’s Hatem Ben Arfa refuse to go away. However, the Magpies couldn’t have asked for a much tougher start to life back in the top flight than a trip to Old Trafford. Not only have Newcastle never won at the 'Theatre of Dreams' in the Premier League, they have failed to beat the Red Devils on their own turf since 1972. Manchester United Possible starting XI: Van der Sar; O’Shea, Vidic, Evans, Fabio; Carrick, Scholes, Giggs; Valencia, Rooney, Nani. Newcastle United Possible starting XI: Harper; Taylor,Williamson, Coloccini, Jose Enrique; Gutiérrez, Smith, Nolan, Barton; Lovenkrands, Carroll. PLAYERS TO WATCH: Manchester United: Javier Hernandez's impressive World Cup showing and pre-season goalscoring exploits means the Old Trafford faithful will be looking forward to welcoming the Red Devils’ new striker to the ranks. Whilst he is unlikely to start the game, he may be introduced at some point and will no doubt fancy his chances of a debut goal in the Premier League against one of the top flight’s new boys. Newcastle United: Kevin Nolan was the Championship’s Player of the Season and Newcastle will look to his battling qualities and experience at Old Trafford. Of course the former Bolton Wanderers man was also amongst the goals last season, netting 18 times, and against a home defence missing several key members he may prove a threat. PREDICTION This could be a tough opener for the home side who have struggled on the opening day in recent seasons and will have some of their World Cup stars still some way from top form. However, Newcastle’s record at Old Trafford is poor and the extra quality the home side possess should mean they have enough to secure a narrow victory. Manchester United 1-0 Newcastle United |
@Poster Honestly, Airfrance might not have the best planes to Nigeria, but their service is about the best. I remember the last time I was flying to Paris from Nigeria with my friend and we were so high, it was the night Chelsea played Inter Millan on Champions league, so we watched part of the match at the airport and we had a lot to drink. We were so high and we still had red wine again inside the flight, mehn I was so messed up. I think I even fall on the cabin, but the crew assisted me and helped me to the rest room. I lost my medicated glasses and one of the hostess was really searching for it and just before we landed in Paris she found it. They were so friendly. Apart from that night, I have used AirFrance a couple of other times and they were nice. |
d bigrod:Am confident Neymar will join us, now we have Ramirez and Alex his fellow brazillians so that will help. What a stellar performance today, we started the season the way we ended it. |
080Nigeria:Is it only dignity that position comes with? Does it not also come with the mandate to enforce better governance? Typical Nigerian, always fast to critize westerners, why have you not questioned the same man for his shortcomings in the office but you want to shout now because he was asked to be searched. You will still be the same person that will come here to shout that our politicians are stealing our money and you are here trying to make such action so easy for them. Infact they shuld all be stripped naked and properly searched to reduce the rate of their loot. This same Bank-ole disgraced some Rep members in a very mannerless way and you have not asked him to apologise to Nigerians(or the constituency his victims represent). My dear, whiteman does not forget things so easily, so the drama he acted in the chambers recently is still fresh in their heads. Keep celebrating mediocrity |
lasgidi4rv:Our politicians deserve whatever disrespect they get, there is an adage in Igbo-land that goes this way "if you make yourself a rat, cats will use you for dinner" so our politicians are just bunch of comedians and have no regards whatsoever outside the shores of naija. They are seen as thieves hence they are treated as one. Can you imagine, he wants the law that allows him immunity to be applied and in his own jurisdiction he does not uphold the law that mandates him to facilitate a better nigeria(rather he is busy looting), so you get what you give. Next should be David Mark |

DIMEJI BANKOLE: “I refused to board British Airways as they disrespected the office of the Speaker.” BRITISH AIRWAYS: No, “ the speaker and his PA Adegoke Emmanuel were offloaded prior to boarding BA074 at Lagos Airport as they refused to submit hand luggage for mandatory check On August 6, as they both violate Annex 17 of (ICAO) (Doc 8973), which outlines luggage searching procedures before boarding a flight.” |
Nayah:That seems the only thing they do best these days |
Maybe one of these gals shuld represent naija
