Reports reaching NAIJ.com indicate that governorship aspirant in Ekiti and a member of the seventh House of Representatives, Opeyemi Bamidele, and one other person have been shot. The All Progressives Congress (APC) said the Ekiti state governorship candidate, Kayode Fayemi, narrowly escaped being killed by an unknown gunman as he was being received by party men at the APC secretariat. According to Channels TV, the incident which was described as an accidental discharge, occurred on Friday, June 1, during the takeoff campaign of the All Progressives Congress (APC’s) governorship candidate, Kayode Fayemi. Fayemi was in company of the Ondo state governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, and other top leaders of the party in the state. The ruling party had organised a reception for him following his resignation from the federal cabinet and in readiness for the governorship campaigns ahead of the July 14 election. Premium Times reports that Taiwo Olatunbosun, a spokesperson for the APC in the state, said that on getting to the party secretariat, a gunman raised his weapon, aimed at Fayemi, and pulled the trigger, but missed him. The gunshots were said to have emanated from the gun of an unknown gunman kitted fully in Mopol uniform at the APC Secretariat in Ado-Ekiti, PM News reports. A source speaking to PM News said: “The man was at the front of the podium and was hit severally by bullets. He was already in comma and has lost so much blood before he was rushed to the hospital.” In a report by The Punch, Bamidele has been rushed to an unknown hospital for treatment, while the yet-to-be-identified second victim is feared dead. NAIJ.com previously reported that one of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirants in Ekiti state, Opeyemi Bamidele, urged the people of the state to accept the apology rendered by the party’s governorship candidate, Dr Kayode Fayemi, over perceived infractions while he was in office between 2010 and 2014. The call was made after a meeting with his canvassers in a post-primary consultation at Iyin-Ekiti during which he urged all other aspirants to fully support Fayemi’s candidature, Vanguard reports. All aspirants were asked to put aside their differences in the interest of the APC and the state. Bamidele said that he was very confident of Fayemi’s capacity to redress what he described as the failures of the PDP administration. The next President of Nigeria. Presidency on Saturday commended a musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal 1 (KWAM 1) who sang ‘When Buhari returns for 2nd term, corrupt people will flee into jugle’, noting that people should always listen to the song. In statement released by Mr Femi Adesina, Senior special assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on media and publicity, presidency said that King Wasiu issued a yellow card to corrupt people in the country. His words: Well, the words above are not mine. They are from a special video recently released by fuji music maestro, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate. Do you speak or understand Yoruba? Have you heard the music? You need to, if you haven’t. The musician, who used to be known as King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal 1 (KWAM 1), before he rebranded as K1 De Ultimate, is issuing a yellow card (or if you like, red, I mean the authentic red, not the spurious one a certain woman is brandishing round the country with a sparse crowd in attendance at her rallies) to corrupt people, who are conspiring to stop President Muhammadu Buhari from getting a second term. Let me attempt a transliteration of the song: No matter the conspiracy, Though evildoers join their hands together Buhari will do a second term, Sai Buhari. You conspirators, corrupt people, When Buhari gets a second term, You better flee into the jungle Sai Baba, Sai Buhari Those of you who spoilt Nigeria And are now conspiring, You thieves, illegal bunkerers Who carry oil without paying, You thieves, not allowing Nigerian youths to thrive, When Buhari comes for a second term You better flee to the jungle. Buhari does not steal fuel, he has no oil bloc, His wife does not do illegal bunkering, Evildoers, your enemy is here, Sai Baba, Sai Buhari Your father-before-father is here, Sai Buhari. Those of you bribing people to malign Buhari, He is your Nemesis, When he comes for second term You better flee into the jungle. I am with Sai Baba. Asiwaju has spoken. And we have heard. Buhari is our choice, he’s the one we’ll vote for Sai Baba, Sai Buhari! How I wish everyone understands Yoruba, so that we all can savour this music. Non-Yorubas, but who understand the language would do well to translate the music into their mother tongue, and share it widely. The music should be sung from the rooftops, and proclaimed from the mountains. Every progressive minded Nigerian should hear it, and pass on the torch. Carry your candle, run to the darkness…Take your candle, go light your world. Sai Baba, Sai Buhari! GOOD MORNING FOLKS
