Allybert: Hi everyone,

To the glory of the Lord and the prayer of you all, I and my wife had a successful interview some hours ago. The CO at window 13 is indeed an angel! Without much ado, I will just go straight to the interview experience proper. But mind you, my wife was the principal applicant. She played as single before we married last year before the DV result.

Co: good morning
We: good morning ma
CO: Please sign these forms
We: Okay ma - we signed the forms
CO: Am going to take your fingers print
We: Alright ma - ( We did the fingers print)
CO: Do you swear to say nothing but the truth?
We: Absolutely yes
CO: please go and have your sit while I interview your wife.
Me: Alright ma. - (I had to stood a few distance away cos I already lose my sit)
Co: what is the name of your sch?
Wife: Blah blah blah
CO: What course did you study?
Wife: Food sci & tech
CO: Why did you study food sci & tech
Wife : Blah blah blah blah
CO: What year did you finished?
Wife : Blah blah blah blah -
CO: Tell me about your course

Wife: Blah blah blah
CO: No. I don`t want defination. I want full explanation
Wife: Blah blah blah blah- (explaining in details until she asked her to stop)
CO: Tell me about food processing
Wife: Blah blah blah blah
CO: What are perishable food products?
Wife : Blah blah blah blah
CO: How can you preserve them?
Wife : Blah blah blah blah - (citing terms and giving examples) Now the CO is typing.
CO: When did you get married?
Wife : Blah blah blah blah
CO: Where, when and how did you meet your husband?
Wife : Blah blah blah blah
CO: When did he proposed?
Wife : Blah blah blah blah
CO: What does your husband do?
Wife : Blah blah blah blah
CO: Can you explain what type of business your husband do?
Wife : Blah blah blah blah
CO: How much does he earn?
Wife : I really don`t know the exact amount
CO: You mean you don`t know how much your husband earn?
Wife: Yes, because he is not a salary earner. But we are living good. We are okay with what he earns.
CO: Oh! yeah I can really see that. - ( at this stage the interview is becoming very interesting to her and what follows thereafter was more like a chit chat)
CO: What type of wedding did you do?
Wife : Blah blah blah blah
CO: DO you have a very big wedding?
Wife : Blah blah blah blah
CO: Do you have wedding pictures?
Wife : yes (my wife brought out our photo book and as she was flipping, the CO asked her to keep flipping. She was smiling, then asked wife to stop and pointed to someone in the picture)
CO: Who is that in the picture?
Wife : Blah blah blah blah
CO: Do you have any courtship picture?
Wife : Yes
CO: Can I see? (At this stage she was very busy typing and staring into the computer. She did not bother to check the courtship pictures) She then asked my wife to call me. As I was approaching the window, she said to my wife - give me a minute I want to get some papers.
Wife: Alright ma - Now I am standing beside my wife and she was whispering into my ear. Then the CO returned with two papers and gave our original documents back to us.
CO: MR & MRS blah blah blah, congratulations your visas have been approved. Welcome to America. Go to the circled address to pick up your visas next week Fri. She then explained something to us about how to pay the USCIS Immigrant Fee but we werent really paying attention because we were very excited. My wife was just smiling and saying thank you, thank you, thank you ma! The CO was just smiling......

My wife did a very good job and I am very proud of her. The only question I was asked was "Did you swear to say nothing but the truth" Which I answered "Absolutely yes"

Lessons:

* Be prayerful
* Prepare very hard
* When academic question is asked, don`t give definations but explanation and keep explaining until the CO ask you to stop.
* Speak out loud and look straight into the CO`s eyes.
* If married, say things the way they are. Don`t fabricate.
* Make sure you are able to defend whatever qualification you are claiming.
* Another thing I observed from other interview experiences is that, the CO usually start their academic questions from your highest level of education and if you are able to explain very well, they will not bother to ask you questions from your SSCE.

Thank you and God bless you all.
congratulations my brother.Thank God for you and your family. My wife read food tech too and she is the applicant oo. pls we would'nt mind to use your experience as a case study and learn from there

I woke up as early as 4 a.m, prepared and ready to face any CO at the embassy. I prayed, wore my suite and tire and set of to the embassy. I reached there exactly 5:30 a.m and looking around I was the second person to reach the embassy. I waited under the tree outside the embassy very refreshed and ready. A pastor come around where we were sitting prayed and shared the word of God with us. By the time it was 6:00 a.m a lot of people came around also waiting to be called in for interview. I had a hint to make sure I was part of the first 10 in the line so I started walking towards the gate. At 6:45 we were called in for security checks. I left all coins and mobile fon out just to avoid long hours of wait. I just went tru without any hindrance.
I paid my VISA fee and my documents were checked n they collected all thus both original and photocopies. I was called to window 4. I realized that CO denied abt 3 people due to incomplete documents and other reasons...on filling my dv lottery I made a mistake in D.O.B and wrote 1990 instead of 1987, I swore an affidavit and took it along in case I was asked abt it, to be frank I was soo scared, I prayed n left all to God.
CO: Gud morning
Me: Gud morning
CO: raise ur hand n swear to tell the whole truth
Me: I did n swore
CO: showed me my form I sent to KCC and asked me to answer question 41 before we continued, which was abt weda I hav been arrested b4.
Me: I did n she asked me to sign beside it
CO: she then made me take the oath again to tell the truth
Me: I did just that
CO: which year did u complete secondary school
Me: I told her
CO: what did u do after u completed SHS?
Me: I was waiting to be admitted into the university
CO: ok, how many times did you write WASSCE?
Me: once
CO: which University did u attend?
Me: told her
CO: when did you complete?
Me: told her
CO: what program did u study?
Me: BSc Economics and Business Administration
She picks up a blue sheet half of A4 paper and circled the DV and asked me to come pick up my VISA on 8th Feb 2013.
CO: congratulations and thanks for coming
Me: Thank you
CO: dnt make any preparations until u take your VISA.
Me: Ok thank you.
God has really answered my prayers and that of my friends, family and everybody. I was never asked abt the DOB issue. Thanks to all who help and adviced me along the way. Ghana and Nigeria are really brodas and sisters n I tink we should combine our two countries into one cos we think the same....hahaha that's just by the way. Sori for my long story tho
congratulations oo.please did you pay for the New USCIS Immigrant Fee,i mean the $165 ?

Any visa issued from on 1st of feb,2013, will pay 165dollars but not @ P.O.E but it has to be paid online to USCIS.
will that be at the US emberssy or there in US?

jidex001:

Medical is six months and not one month.
That is why we advice people here to do there medical 2 to 3wks before ur interview, so that when u are even travelling @ d 4th of ur visa. Ur medical won't have expired.
about the expiration of medical,i asked one of doctors at the ikoyi hospital and he said 5 months and not 6months,so we are expected to do our medicals atleast 2weeks to the interview date.

ogbonlowob: Your likely area of focus is non academic, but proof of marital intimacy. Expect questions like this: Your wife just told me you enjoy sex together as couples, now what sex style did you use the last time, how long ago? Any sex barrier used or just direct? How many rounds did u go? On the floor, bedroom or sitting room. What's her favourite food etc. LISTEN very carefully: any contradiction with what your wife answered previously may lead to outright disqualification. I know of a copper in my office who faked marriage i.e. Sham marriage. He won the Dv lottery about 3 years ago through an agent who attached him to a married woman whose husband was in the U.S. The man had tried hard without luck to bring his wife to join him. So this copper succeded in deceiving the CO and today he is in the US with this arrangee marriage. I believe he must have divorced this fake wife now for the real husband to take back. The real husband actually paid the coppers flight ticket etc. Now, u may be unlucky to meet a tough CO who will ask u intimate questions like the ones above and that may just sweep u off ur feet. Mr. Beneficiary, Be prepared! Be warned!!
thanks for that but as a matter of facts we did a marriage even before we play the DV lottery

You are a beneficiary, meaning that your qualification is inconsequential. Your wife who is the principal is where the attention will be focused.
