JOS : On Wednesday 14th March 2012, the MTN Call Centre in Rayfield, Jos was besieged by a crowd of individuals who purported to be officials of the Nigeria Labour Congress(NLC). Their stated mission was to protest the conditions of service of the staff in the centre and the alleged resistance to unionization of staff. In furtherance of their objectives, the NLC came with placards and effectively barricaded the building and prevented staff from entering their offices. It is pertinent to note that the MTN Call Centre in Jos is operated by CNSSL, a Nigerian company under an outsourcing arrangement with MTN. The staff in the call centre are therefore not employed by MTN. CNSSL provides skilled employment for Nigerians under terms that far exceed the national minimum wage requirements and comparable with prevailing conditions for graduate employees in many areas of the private sector. Our vision is to increase our capacity to do so. The action by the NLC this morning disrupted the activities of the call centre and jeopardized our ability to attend to the teeming MTN customers under our care. Such incidents not only undermines our ability to fulfill our contractual obligations to MTN, it is a disincentive to investors who wish to provide employment opportunities for the youth in the Jos area which is experiencing great social upheaval. Indeed, CNSSL staff of the call centre, none of whom have any issue with their employment conditions, robustly resisted the barricade erected by the NLC this morning in an attempt to enter their place of work. A breakdown of law and order was narrowly averted. We are engaging the leadership of the NLC and the relevant security agencies in order to avoid a re-occurrence of the unfortunate and unwarranted action that took place today. |
MTN’s attention has been drawn to reports in the media over a lawsuit purportedly instituted against MTN Nigeria Communications Limited by the former Governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola and the Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) seeking to revoke MTN’s license. Speaking on the issue, MTN’s Corporate Services Executive, Akinwale Goodluck, observed that the company was yet to be served with court processes related to the matter. He also stated categorically that MTN did not in any way act contrary to the terms and conditions of its operating license with respect to the Investigative Panel (IP) set up by the National Judicial Council (NJC) over the 2010 Appeal Court contest of gubernatorial election results in Osun State. “We are constrained to speak on this issue because we are yet to be served with any court summons. When this is done, we will respond appropriately. Suffice it to say that MTN has a stellar reputation for ethical conduct. Therefore, we take grave exception to any insinuation of unethical or improper conduct against us. MTN acts responsibly at all times, and in accordance with relevant laws. This unshakeable corporate principle guided our actions. Indeed, we provided all the necessary records to the requisite security agencies in accordance with laid down procedure” he said. Further setting the records straight, Goodluck said that the company is apolitical and non partisan and as such it has no reason or motivation to act in any unethical or untoward manner as alleged. https://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=343611865680057 |
According to MTN's Facebook Page, they denied shutting down BB services: MTN wishes to reassure all its subscribers, especially those in Lagos that Blackberry Internet Service (BIS) has not been shut down. In addition, we have not received any directive from any quarter to shut down Blackberry services. As the network of choice to over 41 million people in Nigeria, our priority is to provide stable quality telecommunication services to our customers. This will continue to be our focus for 2012. No one has been untouched - from the people of riverine areas to the people of Northern Nigeria, from the East to the West, young and old, business or pleasure, the way we operate has changed forever. We can’t find the words to express just how grateful we are to Nigeria for giving us this amazing opportunity. Perhaps you can do it for us? How would you say it in a song? We’re looking for Thank You songs from MTN to the people of Nigeria. If you’re a music producer, singer or songwriter, get into the studio and record a ‘Thank You’ song for us and upload it on this page. It can be in any genre, it could be in English or pidgin or in any Nigerian language - all it needs to be is tuneful and catchy, and it must convey the immense gratitude that MTN feels for ten amazing years of partnership and growth! 10 songs will be selected from all the entries by the public and a panel of experts. The successful songs will be included in a special 10th year anniversary album to be released soon and there will be loads of fabulous prizes to be won by short-listed individuals! http://www.ireport.com/docs/DOC-134234 http://www.nigeriavillagesquare.com/forum/main-square/26440-naval-ratings-beat-strip-lady-naked.html In the name of power and madness, this is what we get when animals lead us in Nigeria. if you say you are a Rear Admiral, do you need to go on beating and embarrasing citizens?. The two links above shows how a female was stripped and beaten in open glare and eyes of public in front of PWC office in Lagos. This is what we get when we allow wrong leaders to be in front row. ![]() |

Guys on this thread are just "asses". Can you imagine them calling Nigerian girls "cheap"?. Anyway, they have sister who are quite cheap too. ![]() Ugly "asses" |
Yes I agree. The guy is such a nuisance. I understand he doesn't do anything for a living but that doesn't mean he should go about disturbing with the plenty of time he has on his hands. ![]() |
Abeg oh! We wants adverts, we don't want cartoons and lullaby(s) in a bank ad. Someone should tell them to get serious with their messaging. ![]() |

@ Mustay o'l Mustay, You are everywhere. We meet again after "the intern 2" thread. And I can see you have a strong prescence here already (probably causing more trouble!) ![]() |
@ Mustay, I can see you are the Grande Master of Copying and Pasting. Backed by facts and figures (Which you have copied again anyway ), you have every reason to "Copy & Paste". Please enjoy your copying and pasting as long as you want. Maybe oneday, you'll find out you've suddendly started talking alone on a "Copying & Pasting" The Intern thread. LOL ![]() |
@ Mustay, Pls take it easy. We have seen the website and it's obvious you've duplicated all information on this tread again. We all speak English, no use replicating. Once you refer, just stay back and watch readers take information naturally from the website. And in case you want to discuss issues, I think you should sharpen your skill in moderating. No hard feelings. Enjoy! ![]() |
@mcDreamy, how do you tell agbalagbas in Naija that they are telling lies, I am yet to figure that out! LOL! Excuse me sir, e npuro ! ![]() |
My cousin introduced me to his novels. I started with a sensational one: Tell me your dreams. I must say Sidney Sheldon is the King of fiction writers. No one has been able to match him. He is the best ! |
I was just trying to get over Purple Hibiscus by Chimamnda Adichie when she came out with Half of the Yellow Sun. She's blazin' and no one can stop her ! |
How then do you balance the two? Am actually female and I find myself going through the same this guys go thru and all of a sudden, it's not male gender specific. |
This country scares me. We thot the men couldn't do it, that was why we put the female there. Isn't it so? Now the female has grown beards and the thing in-between the legs of men and has decided to behave like men who have no ears to listen to the voice of God. |
Generally speaking, there's something I don't like about Hoopz but New york isn't any better anyway. Personally, I think that guy Flav needs serious help! |
