Politics / Ajibulu To Tinubu: Don't Give Subsidy Money To Govs, Use For Projects In States by hisexcellency34: 9:51am On Mar 14
Tunde Ajibulu, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), says monies generated from the removal of petrol subsidy should be used for infrastructure projects in each state of the federation.

Ajibulu, a member of the 2023 APC presidential campaign council (pictured 1st from left), stated this in a chat with TheCable on Tuesday, while adding that the monies should not be handed to state governors.

He commended the performance of President Bola Tinubu, and urged Nigerians to be patient “as the president’s reforms will yield positive fruits soon”.

“The president has performed creditably well. Yes, there is hardship now but it is temporary. It is like taking chloroquine which is very bitter with itching side effects but it will get the job done at the end of the day,” he said.

On the depreciating value of the naira, Ajibulu said the government must come up with a policy that will put an end to capital flight.

“The issue of naira fall is a work in progress. It will take a while to get things back to normal. The N23 trillion former President Muhammadu Buhari printed is a lot to mop up, so we have too much naira chasing the dollar,” he added.

“Also, the extra cash from subsidy removal should be tied to projects in states and not given to governors. Nigerians want accountability on how these funds are used.

Politics / LP: I am National Youth leader yet Obi silent on my attack in Benin - Eragbe by hisexcellency34: 6:51am On Mar 04
Anslem Eragbe, the suspended national youth leader of the Labour Party (LP), says the allegations of fraud against him have not been substantiated.

In October 2022, the party suspended Eragbe for six months over alleged misconduct.

In April 2023, the party said Eragbe was “heavily compromised” and could not work in the interest of the LP, and can no longer speak on its behalf.

Speaking with TheCable on Sunday, Eragbe said he would take legal action against Julius Abure, the national chairman of LP, and other members over his suspension.

Eragbe said only the national executive committee (NEC) of the party has the power to suspend him, not the national working committee (NWC).

“Eragbe Anslem remains the only national youth leader of the Labour Party. I have always been the national youth leader of the party until the next election. Abure and anybody have no powers under the law or constitution of the LP to unilaterally suspend any member of the NWC. Anyone laying claim to my office is going to face the law very soon,” he said.

“As the national youth leader of the Labour Party, I put in place all the media structures for him. I pointed to him what he needed to do before, during and after the election. That was the reason Abure conspired against me.

“Now, what did I get for all the support that I gave to him? I have challenged Abure to come out and prove the allegations of fraud against me but to date, they have not been able to substantiate their false claims.”

‘PETER OBI SILENT ON MY ATTACK IN BENIN’

Eragbe also tackled Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the LP in the 2023 elections, for remaining silent over an alleged attempted murder of his life in Benin City in December.

“I am not surprised that Peter Obi did not speak on the attack on my life. I couldn’t have been surprised because when Abure illegally orchestrated my suspension as the national youth leader, Obi never said a word,” Eragbe said.

“Since 29th of December till date, I have not seen anywhere Peter Obi made a statement concerning my attack. If he did, at least, someone of my calibre, I should have seen it or someone should have sent it to me.”

He said Obi was “quick to make comments” when Abure was manhandled by security operatives.

“He (Obi) spoke on that and everybody saw it but he never spoke about my life. I don’t have anything personal against him but if you want to be a leader, be a leader. As a leader, you have to treat everyone with equity and fairness without taking sides,” Eragbe said.

“Is Abure’s arrest by the Nigerian Police more important than my life? I didn’t know Peter Obi from nowhere until he came to LP yet I gave him all the support he needed. I was one of those who made it possible for him to get the ticket of Labour Party.”

Celebrities / Senami Sosu, Others, Join Ego Boyo On New Miss Nigeria Board by hisexcellency34: 11:13pm On Mar 02
The Miss Nigeria beauty pageant recently got a new breath of life with the addition of three cranially adept amazons to its board, bringing the total member number to six.
Among the new blood on the team are Senami Sosu, Chioma Okigbo, and Olatomiwa Williams.
In a post via the Miss Nigeria official Instagram handle earlier in the week, Sosu, Okigbo, and Williams were unveiled as the much anticipated, new board members, joining Ego Boyo, Wunmi Ogunbiyi, and Aisha Abba Kyari, who had earlier been announced as members of the board.
The announcement has been met with a slew of positive comments and feedback as many lauded the credibility of the board, which for the first time would be chaired by talented screen star, Rita Dominic-Anosike.
It will be remembered that since Dominic-Anosike took over the affairs of the Miss Nigeria pageant as board chairman in October 2023, a new wave of positivity and empowerment has been recorded by the foremost pageant in Nigeria, which dates as far back as 1957.
According to her, “The Miss Nigeria Pageant is a true representation of One Nigeria.”
A cursory look into the profiles of the three new board members reveals why they deserve to sit on the prestigious Miss Nigeria board.
Senami Sosu is the MD/CEO of Imanes Interiors Limited, a world-class interior design establishment with years of experience and an array of prestigious clientele.
With over 25 years of experience in the interior design space, she has successfully diversified into the real estate industry where her creative flair has given her an edge to create successful businesses. Given her vast knowledge and interests in business, she has also actively participated in other industries. She currently sits on the board of two other companies, one in the oil and gas sector and the other in the mining industry, and she plays an active role in both.
Armed with a Bachelor’s degree in English and Literary Studies from the University of Lagos, the dedicated philanthropist and champion of women and children's causes completed the Institute of Directors Nigeria (IOD)’s Company Directors Courses and has attended various business and management courses.
Deeply committed to family and community, Sosu remains a beacon of impactful leadership and womanhood.
Chioma Okigbo on her part is the CEO at MODD Management Company Limited, with over 28 years of experience in administering clients’ assets.
She is excellent in providing additional wealth creation opportunities in terms of investments management for people as well as companies/organizations.
Also the founder of Body Beautiful FLP, she helps people achieve their personal wellness and business goals.

Certainly not the least on the team, Olatomiwa Williams is a mentor, leader, and tech enthusiast who has over 20 years of experience in the information technology industry.
Currently the country manager for Microsoft in Nigeria and Ghana, her notable passion for seeing more women succeed in the tech industry and contributing to technological innovation and advancement has seen her mentor aspiring female tech leaders.
She spearheads initiatives aimed at nurturing, supporting, and empowering women, particularly the younger generation, to embrace careers in information technology.
The announcement is coming just as the world prepares to celebrate International Women’s Day, signalling a new era of empowerment and impact through pageantry.

Politics / City Boy And The Reality Of Governance By Olawale Olaleye by hisexcellency34: 9:26am On Mar 02
In the lead up to the 2015 general election, Nigeria – either by accident or design – was marooned between the Rock and a hard place. The choice of electing the ideal leader (if that’s applicable in Nigeria’s case) was not an easy run.

But a majority of the people was already tired of the rock (Goodluck Jonathan), who had refused to yield as they had expected. The idea of giving the hard place (Muhammadu Buhari) an opportunity was though with reluctance, it was the most popular at the time.

Within the APC, the choice of Buhari was debated repeatedly as many of the party leaders consented to his candidacy rather late. But he seemed pretty good to defeat the incumbent, with his mysterious 15 million votes, and so, everyone hopped on the train, hoping they would run the country together as a party and government.

However, there was an unreported incident that took place during the campaigns and would later summarise what ultimately became of the Buhari presidency.

There had been plans to make him (Buhari) visit a prominent Nigerian leader, an idea he was vehemently opposed to. His reasons, quite honestly, were personal. But his handlers insisted it was the way to go as part of their marketing and communication strategies. So, one day, he was literally “dragged” to the home of this leader.

After the visit and they made to leave, as this prominent Nigerian walked them out to their cars, he pulled back one of Buhari’s handlers, patted him on the back and said, as though a note for file: “Now, you will know why he was ousted as military head of state. Have a nice day.”

After serving out his eight years in power, does any Nigerian need to be told why Buhari was actually overthrown as a military leader? Although Jonathan predicted he would be missed, the truth is that no Nigerian actually missed Jonathan.

On the contrary, they have continued to blame him for making them consider a total failure as an alternative to him. There’s nothing in Buhari – inward and outward – that qualified him for that office. He just wanted to be president for the sake of power, and that was all he did.

He neither understood the issues nor was able to sell them. He could barely deliver simple leadership. He was and still a disaster. Yet, the people who went all out, including the incumbent, Bola Tinubu, to defend his administration are now blaming him for what the country has become. Isn’t that pathetic?

For the 2015 election, at least, as a reporter, who was privileged to have a sit-down with the major gladiators, I was not disillusioned about the fact that Atiku was Nigeria’s best bet. Not just because he was tagged the most prepared at the time, he was actually ready for the job. Atiku knew what the issues were and had the solutions outlined already. Maybe his politics was bad.

On the contrary, Buhari, during an interview at his Abuja home, preparatory to the election, mumbled all through. He was inane and clueless. He just wanted power. When he was confronted, albeit off-the-record, with the report that he actually had intelligence on the coup that threw him out in 1985, his response clearly suggested that Nigeria was in for a terrible choice that would leave unceasing disaster in its trail.

A leader who would not lift a finger to save himself was being prepped to save the entire nation? Yet, the people took their chances with him, accorded with staggering goodwill. It was anything but Jonathan, and so, good luck left Jonathan and smiled big on Buhari,

That was 2015. But I had thought that 2023 was Atiku’s best and last chance. I espoused his choice as much as I could. I have no personal relationship with him, but I was convinced by his persuasion of what should be done. His resolve to run a government of national unity, coming from where Buhari left off, compared to nothing.

No president at this time in the nation’s history can successfully run a government without the input of other tendencies, your enemies inclusive. Tinubu took over a mess. Yes, he did. But he was part of it. It was a government by his party. Did he not campaign saying he would continue with Buhari’s policies? So, he is culpable.

But unlike Atiku, Tinubu projected a government of national competence. I knew it was just another political jargon – balablu – more like. That statement made no practical sense whatsoever. Utter hogwash! You don’t run a government at this time with trainee ministers. At best, most of the current ministers should head agencies, parastatals, or junior ministers.

It was not surprising, therefore, that the government would take off with scandals, unverified but embarrassing allegations of graft and evident incompetence on the part of many of them. Of the about 48 ministers, you can hardly put aside 15 as outstanding.

There’s no doubting the fact that Tinubu is a damn good politician. His ability to trade off anything at any time further exacerbates this. He can grandstand and manipulate any process for result. That’s his forte. But he has never really been a good administrator. His seeming administrative acumen over the years was because he was surrounded then by damn good advisers, who bore his can at all times.

Again, this is instructive. By virtue of his political disposition, he has always been darwinian. But this is Nigeria – a geographical expression bigger than all of his aspirations and arrogance. His approach should have been markedly different and accommodating. Curiously, he has begun to give fillip to the assertion that the Lagos politics is akin to playing Ludo while in Abuja, it is a game of Chess.

Well, the reality is here, and it’s stark. It is not too late to change gear. Otherwise, all of you – from Yar’Adua to Jonathan, Buhari, and yourself – would make former President Olusegun Obasanjo appear like the greatest of all times. You don’t have to like him. He is still the best of you guys, with enviable global acclaim.

To change this, Tinubu must be practical. The presidency can no longer be about him. He has to be quick on his feet. His inclination to make hard choices must be spontaneous. He must be openly disposed to the principle of reward and sanction – reward and fire as the situation demands.

The president has to learn to lead by example. The change the Nigerian people desperately seek must start with him, and everyone working with and for him. Discipline, moderation, and dedication must be the overall watchword and creed.

More than anything else, you need to breathe life into your government and urgently, too. What you currently have cannot serve the purpose of change, but it can only be business as usual. The options are yours, and unfortunately, your time is fast ticking away.

There’s a mockery doing the rounds now: “The Yoruba Boys Are Here.” That, obviously, is not from a good place. It is a reminder of the fact that the current leader of the country is Yoruba and that the entire Yoruba race must be ready to take responsibility for his failings.

While that may not be too much to ask, the president, too, must know that the presidency is not an opportunity to hit back at real or perceived enemies. It is a position that allows you to unfurl how large and obliging your heart truly is and for the collective good.

President Tinubu, things are horrible. I don’t know what information you are being fed with and how honestly that is being done, but an independent poll can bring you close to the truth. Things have gone from bad to worse and are now heading in the direction no one knows.

It was Margaret Thatcher, a former British Prime Minister, who once said no government is elected to manage a bad situation but improve on the situation on the ground. Otherwise there would not be need to elect a new government. You have, therefore, lost the right to make excuses. Let that not be your stock-in-trade.

You publicly and openly claimed being president was your lifelong ambition. You campaigned across the country, espousing what you’d do differently. You boasted to know what the challenges were and that you were the right man for the job. You cited Lagos as your testimonial and promised to do better for Nigeria. Indeed, you said you’d hit the ground running.

So, what are those excuses and the demand for more time? Much as most of the challenges are artificial, you cannot be excused for poorly conceived ideas and policies either. It suffices to say, too, that many of the governors have not done enough to help. They are simply executive rogues who have made the situation worse than it should be.

City Boy, you are welcome to the reality of power, leadership and governance. You must take immediate actions, and your decisions must be decisive. There is no time to waste time. You have to be susceptible to wise counsel and design some back channel options to deal with many of these challenges. Learn to seek counsel at all times. You do not boast a repository of knowledge. Exhaustively dimension your options at all times.

In the final analysis, good leadership is ensconced in the ability to take responsibility, make hard choices, and desist from excuses. There’s none of Nigeria’s current crises that you can run away from. The earlier you understand this and embrace it, the better for you and everyone.

Politics / "Cure your visible ignorance": INEC tells Nigerians abusing Yakubu by hisexcellency34: 9:32am On Mar 01
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says those laying curses on Mahmood Yakubu, chairman of the commission, should make better use of their time.

Speaking exclusively with TheCable, Rotimi Oyekanmi, chief press secretary to the INEC chairman, also admonished those attacking Yakubu to “cure themselves of their visible ignorance of the laws governing the electoral system and the commission’s processes and procedures”.

On February 25, the first year anniversary of the 2023 presidential election, some Nigerians took to social media platforms to rain curses on the electoral commission boss.

The aggrieved youths had alleged that Yakubu rigged the 2023 presidential election for incumbent President Bola Tinubu.

However, Oyekanmi described the 2023 elections as “a huge success and the most painstakingly planned”.

“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) believes that the 2023 general election was a huge success, despite some challenges that the commission had to grapple with,” he said.

“However, Oyekanmi described the 2023 elections as “a huge success and the most painstakingly planned”.

“The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) believes that the 2023 general election was a huge success, despite some challenges that the commission had to grapple with,”
he said.

“It was the most painstakingly election and for the most part, our plans were successfully executed.

Just last Friday, we released the official report of the election, which consisted of 526 pages, organised into 14 chapters and fortified with 60 tables, 14 boxes and 10 graphs. There is a lot to chew in the report.

“And for the first time ever in Nigeria’s electoral history, the 2023 elections unveiled unprecedented political diversity, with four political parties capturing gubernatorial seats, effectively breaking the duopoly that has long dominated the political scene.

“Besides, seven parties won senatorial seats, eight secured federal constituencies and nine were successful in state legislatures.

“While the report emphasises the significant impact of technological advancements on the integrity of the electoral process, especially the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) which reduced electoral fraud and bolstered the credibility of elections, the document also explained the challenges encountered with the INEC result viewing (IReV) portal during the presidential election.”

"With the report now in the public domain, we expect stakeholders to interrogate it and offer useful advice on how we can further improve the electoral system.”

He added that: “As for those persons who embarked on what they described as a ‘a day of curses’, my advice is that they should pay adequate attention to substantive issues, make more productive use of their time, and cure themselves of their visible ignorance of the laws governing the electoral system and the commission’s processes and procedures".

Politics / FG Needs To Think More… Circulars Won’t Solve Naira-Dollar Disparity -Agbakoba by hisexcellency34: 4:55pm On Feb 28
Olisa Agbakoba (SAN) is a former president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA). In this interview with TheCable’s TEMIDAYO AKINSUYI, he speaks on the current economic challenges in the country and offers solutions on the way forward.

TheCable: Nigeria is currently facing serious economic challenges with the naira, which is on a free fall. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has been making efforts to address the situation, but it appears to be getting worse. How best do you think this can be addressed?

Agbakoba: We need a solid economic plan, which must come from ideas that the government is providing. It is the job of the government to think through very clear monetary, fiscal, and trade policies. I do not see an alignment between these three policies. Once these policies are not aligned, then there will be problems.

I see the CBN trying very hard to control the slide of the naira, but I think it is all wrong because what the CBN is doing is simply issuing circulars. Circulars will not cause the naira-dollar disparity to be corrected. What will make it right is economic activity in the country. That is the only way.

I am not an expert, but if you ask experts what the level of economic activity in the country is, it is probably five per cent. Let me also remind you that it is not really important to discuss the naira-dollar parity so that people should not get worried if the exchange rate is N3,000 to one dollar. It is not important because the Japanese Yen has a very big gap. What is important is not the numeric value of the exchange rate. What is important is the productive value of the naira. Currently, what is the naira producing? For instance, let me say I am a poultry farmer, and I have borrowed N100 million to pay the bank over the next three years. I have 100,000 chicken breeds. However, because of my inefficiency, I have only 2,000 chicken breeds, and the rest have died. So, as a result, I can’t meet my target.

TheCable: The president has also rolled out some measures aimed at rejuvenating the economy and cushioning the hardship experienced by Nigerians as a result of the subsidy removal. Do you think his approach is working?

Agbakoba: Nigeria’s problem is that it doesn’t have any idea about the economic problems or what ought to be done to increase its productive value. If you have a grave level of insecurity in the country, you can’t talk about the productive value of the naira or the issue of the economic production of the country.

So, everything points to a downward decline in terms of what the government is doing. To be quite honest with you, I’m very disappointed because I spoke with President Bola Tinubu at Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s birthday, and I pointed out what I thought needed to be done. I thought that what was most fundamental was the question that the late Bola Ige asked a long time ago before he was assassinated. The question is, ‘Do we wish to be Nigerians?’ That is a very critical question, and we shouldn’t take it for granted. If we don’t wish to be Nigerians, we can’t be a great country. It is not a question to be swept aside. If we answer ‘yes’ to the question, then the second question is, ‘How do we want to be Nigerians?’ I think that is our problem. Like Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra has said, ‘You cannot build a 20-storey building on the foundation of a bungalow’.

The government is missing the very fundamental question of governance. If the governance foundation is not there, such that the states do not see themselves as economic entities of production but as consumers who go to Abuja to share money, then the 36 states are useless. They are useless, even though we have about 46 major solid minerals. If the 36 states see themselves as always ready to go to Abuja and collect their allocations every month, then they will produce nothing. Virtually, all the states are unviable because they think that they want to go and take their share of the cake rather than bake the cake. It is such an easy problem that I don’t understand why nobody sees it.

Sometimes, I tell my wife that maybe there is something wrong with me. Maybe I’m getting mad. Why is it that I am the only one seeing what I’m seeing and people in government cannot see it? They just inaugurated a new constitution review committee in the national assembly. They have been doing that for 30 years. They kept doing the same thing again and again without results, and that consumes billions of naira. This money being wasted on constitution review can be channelled towards building schools, hospitals, and so on. So, if people ask me, why is Nigeria still like this? This is the answer. We have a government that needs to do more thinking.

Politics / Tinubu Made Policies Without First Studying Nigeria's Documents - Ologbondiyan by hisexcellency34: 6:33pm On Feb 27
Kola Ologbondiyan, former national publicity secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has faulted the announcement of petrol subsidy removal by President Bola Tinubu on his inauguration day.

Defending the president’s decision in a chat with TheCable, Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to the president on information and strategy, had said Nigeria was in serious financial trouble, prompting the president to act quickly.

Onanuga said the president acted in the best interest of Nigerians, saying there was no provision for subsidy in the budget left behind by former President Muhammadu Buhari.

Commenting on the development, Ologbondiyan said Onanuga “is absolutely wrong to have made that submission”.

He said Tinubu’s announcement was hastily done, adding that it contributed to the economic woes of Nigeria.

“How was the announcement of fuel subsidy on inauguration day in the interest of the nation? I don’t blame him because they do not understand the issues in Nigeria,” he said.

“Even if the military is going to war in an environment they are very familiar with, they must still carry out what is called recce or reconnaissance.

"A nation of over 200 million people was handed over to you. However, without looking at the books or studying the documents, you are making a policy statement that will affect the lives of the people. With the situation we are in now, how is that in our best interests?”

Ologbondiyan said there is a “sharp difference” between the situation of the country under the All Progressives Congress (APC) compared to when the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was in charge.

“I have also listened to arguments of people who are saying that the damage wasn’t done today. To those people, I want to say clearly that every economy requires management and the sustenance of any economy is dependent on the wisdom of the managers,” he said.

“On account of this, I think that the double-edged sword of policies which President Tinubu deployed on May 29 has brought us to where we are. No one ever said Nigeria didn’t have issues in the past. What is important now is the management which the president will bring in to manage the situation or the policy direction of his government".

"I don’t agree with those saying that because it was bad in the past, it can’t be improved upon by the present administration. That was what they promised to do during the campaigns.”

Politics / PDP To APC: Where Is Buhari’s Rice Pyramid, You Owe Nigerians Explanation by hisexcellency34: 7:05am On Feb 27
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) owe Nigerians explanations on the outcome of the rice pyramids launched by former President Muhammadu Buhari in 2022.

Debo Ologunagba, PDP’s national publicity secretary, who spoke in a chat with TheCable on Monday, said the demand for such an explanation is necessary owing to the biting hunger and the harsh economic conditions in the country.

Seven people reportedly died last week in a stampede that occurred during the distribution of 25kg bags of rice by the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) in Lagos.

The PDP spokesperson said the deaths were avoidable if the APC had saturated the markets with the rice launched by the Buhari administration.

"Last week, the Nigerian Customs was selling seized rice and seven people died in Lagos. How did we get to that level? The APC government then, led by former President Muhammadu Buhari told us there is abundance of rice production in Abuja,” Ologunagba said.

“The pyramid of rice turns out to be pyramid of lies. They claimed then that food production was surplus because of the intervention of the Anchor Borrowers Scheme from the CBN, which again was laden with corruption.

“If indeed there was abundance of food production as a result of that intervention, why is there hunger in the land?".

"Where is the pyramid of rice today? The APC owe Nigerians explanation on this at this crucial period. Billions of naira were expended on the Anchor Borrowers programme but where is the food?”.

Ologunagba, who urged the government to declare a state of emergency on hunger, added that President Bola Tinubu’s administration should address insecurity challenges so that farmers can go to the farm.

“This government should focus on insecurity. If the environment is secured, people will go to their farms, people will be encouraged to travel and look for businesses,” he said.

“People are very hungry and that should be the focus of this government now. This government should as a matter of priority declare a state of emergency on hunger in the land. If people are hungry, there will be frustration and despair and anything can happen".

Politics / Hunger Protests, Insecurity, Signs That Nigeria Heading For Collapse -Adebanjo by hisexcellency34: 10:22am On Feb 25
Ayo Adebanjo, chieftain of Afenifere, the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, says hunger protests, insecurity challenges and the slide of the naira are signs that Nigeria is heading for a collapse.

Adebanjo, who spoke with TheCable on Saturday, said until Nigeria’s constitution is restructured to reflect true federalism, the country would not enjoy peace.

The elder statesman’s comments come amid the plan by the national assembly to amend the 1999 constitution. With 40 amendment bills received so far, the constitution review committee is expected to be inaugurated on Monday, February 26.

While calling for the outright overhaul of the 1999 constitution, Adebanjo said no matter the amendments done, nothing will work as it should.

The issue of insecurity and bad economy are products of the fraudulent constitution that we are using. There can be no progress until that constitution is thoroughly changed. A surgical operation must be done on that constitution,” he said.

“Until they bring down this constitution and we have a new beginning, we can’t make any headway. You are just patching things up, amending a constitution that you didn’t make. You are amending a constitution that is already broken-down.

“They will talk of state police today, resource control tomorrow and then they will take the constitution amendment to the parliament. Yet, the parliament is a product of fraud.

"No matter what they are doing, it can’t work.”

Adebanjo added that the solution is to “change the constitution back to federalism”.

“Let all the federating states be autonomous. Let’s go back to the 1963 constitution. No more, no less. Anything short of that, you are just wasting your time,” he said.
