You should first look up the meaning of preclinical studies.

If drugs that undergo preclinical studies are not to be taken at some stages of drug development , how will the drug be eventually be translated to the general public and if the general public takes the drug, to you, please does it mean the drug can not later be withdrawn from use in the future?

This is an area of advance expertise so I will refrain from bothering you on things you may be incapable of comprehending.

The man is either a doctor or a researcher. A doctor prescribes approved drugs, while a researcher develops drugs. You cannot be judging the doctor’s comment as if he is a researcher. He made comments as a doctor.

First off, as soon as you introduced preclinical study into the conversation, you have moved from the realm of traditional herbs, which is what I believe the doctor was referring to based on the wordings of his text, to the realm of scientific method based drug development. Assuming but not conceding that a drug in preclinical studies is effective against stage 4 cancer, does that translate to it being approved for use? If it is not, it does not exist yet. So, I am afraid the doctor is right; no drug for stage 4 cancer. But you have labeled the doctor with all kinds of names.

Let me reiterate, doctors prescribe approved medication. Their point of view is different from that of researchers or drug developers. It is only fair we respond to people’s comment with consideration for these nuances.

As for traditional herbs, maybe they are effective, maybe they are not. Where my perspective differs from the doctor’s is that the patient and his family have nothing to lose by trying traditional herbs. If it damages more organs, so what? The patient would die without trying other non orthodox treatment options anyway. If it works, then thank God.

One major problem with this kind of situation in Nigeria is either the unwillingness or hesitation of the medical team to explain the exact situation to the patient or their families. In other climes, the exact situation is explain and even an estimated time to live is given. Here, they keep beating around the bush. So, I don’t blame any family member for jumping into any conclusion of their choice. Keep people informed!

A doctor once told me malaria wouldn’t kill adults who grew up in a malaria endemic environment like Nigeria because the body would have developed sufficient fighting stamina, but can be fatal in children and the elderly. Maybe Uche’s case is an exception.

I once had a resistant malaria that took over 2 months to treat. It was hell.
