We're not holding up the midfield even though Croatia isn't playing thru the middle which is surprising.

I'm just wondering if we are just playing safe. Ighalo can't do the job as a lone striker in this formation if Moses and Iwobi aren't cutting in and supplying the balls.

But my main concern is just us not seizing the initiative in the middle of the park

The way you've been going about this your argument, as if Messi must score a hattrick because Ronaldo did....

Football is all about circumstances, Ronaldo Scored one freekick yesterday after how many previous attempts?

Remind me how many goals Ronaldo scored against this same Iceland when they met at the Euros,

Argentina even made it to the World Cup cos of Messi, don't roast him cos of one bad game.
Negroe
Stop being a hypocrite

If Messi scored a hat trick and Ronaldo missed a penalty and ended up scoreless, irrespective of the opposition, I'm sure we won't see this useless epistle from you. It is your type who will tell us how Messi is the GOAT without an international title.

It must be pretty hard seeing Messi sleepwalk through another drab performance in the World Cup so you must become professorial to explain why Messi can't beat a part time film maker from 12yards; as if Messi hasn't had a history of blowing opportunities at international level.

You asked me to remind you how many goalsRonaldo scored against Iceland. At least he willed his team to win that Tournament and he didn't miss from 12yards.

Messi couldn't even hit target from three free kicks. Ronaldo scored to bring his team level against the best keeper in the world.

Stop being butt hurt and hopeMessi is inspired to play well against Croatia instead of this sad platter of excuses you are serving here.

Ronaldo showed you how it's done and Messi went on ghost mode. Simples.
If you can't accept it, tough luck.

So yesterday was the first time Ronaldo was playing a world cup match abi? Messi had a bad day like every other big players do sometimes. Did you watched the last world cup? no other Argentina player scored more than a goal but he scored 4 times...Before yesterday Ronaldo had just 3 world cup goals now he has 6 so stop saying Messi haven't been raising his game for Argentina. Portugal are a better team than Argentina.. without Ronaldo for most of the game at the last euro final they still defeated France...they are more organized than Argentina. When Messi don't turn up for Argentina they become bunch of mediocres. They narrowly qualified to this world cup because of Him. The team don't play to his strength...it's sad this might just be his last outing with his national team
Another dumb response.

The supposed best player in the world can't raise his team to beat a debutant team made up of a good number of Part timers.

Now the 5 times World best player in the world is waiting for the team to be built around his strengths instead of leading them to world titles like Maradona did in 86

No disrespect but all I see above are excuses for Messi.
With all the talent Messi has around him he can't perform. At least Portugal doesn't have the personnel Argentina possesses yet they have won one continental trophy and finished runner up in another.

Don't you know what the word "perspective" means?
I brought Müeller in to show how relatively poorMessi has been by the standards he set for himself in winning 5 World player of the year titles.
But dullards like you will misread, misinterprete and generally miss the point I am making.

Ronaldo not impressive?
Someone who has scored in 8 consecutive major tournaments. Oldest player to bag a hat trick ina World Cup.Someone with a European championship medal and one runner-up medal?

Not doing ronaldo messi comparison. Both aren't even doing the same job for their national team.

Just remove Messi's goals from Argentina even though they have more than 2 standard strikers. How come he's even ahead of these known strikers goal wise?

All the finals they have been to, he had to do 110% to get them there but you cant always do it alone.

He's expected to do all the jobs for them. Which is killing the national team. All the same, their bad work-rate should continue until we play them in this worldcup.
You may have a point but I'm saying Messi still hasn't largely delivered at the international stage.

I could even argue that if you take him out of the National side it would force them to become better.

I brought the Ronaldo comparison because I only wanted to highlight the role of a talisman in a side. Ronaldo did all he could to make sure Portugal did not lose to a recent World Cup winner. Messi could not do anything to lift his side from drawing with World Cup debutants.

Messi has a grand total of 5 World Cup goals in all his appearances. Let that sink in. Thomas Müeller scored 5 in each of his two appearances in the same stage.

Messi cannot absolve himself of the malaise in that Argentina side.

And for the record Argentina have lots of strikers they could have used. Icardi didn't even go to Russia in spite of his play this season

Portugal scored their shot on target including keepers fault and penalty. Spain fought hard for all the goal scored nah. I know you knew but just trying to compare both great player
Dense response at best.

Spain had the best goalie in the world.
Ramos and Pique are two of the world' best center backs.
Jorda Alba is first choice left back at Barcelona where Messi plays.

But when Messi has a chance to score from the spot against a team of Part time footballers and he misses I am the one who is jealous.

I would have labeled you stupîd but everyone has access to the internet.

Ronaldo scored a hat trick against a top 10 side in world football, but you suddenly want me to buy the notion that Iceland is now a power house o world football

Oga please don't lecture me.

Where is Iceland ranked in FIFA's latest ranking?

Before today, did you think Iceland stood a chance vs almighty Argentina?

And what stopped Messi from scoring against a part time film maker from 12 yards while Ronaldo could beat arguably the best keeper in the world from the same spot kick and also from a 25 yard free kickin the same game?

I don't engage in needless talk. Iceland is still not a quality side.

Has decent national teammates no one really can call stars
Played against arguably the best keeper and some great names; NO PROBLEMS

Messi: No Suarez, No Busquets, No Iniesta.
Has top quality national teammates: Aguero et al
Played against a team of Part timers including those who are phone operators, dentists and filmmakers in their day job.

The same messi that single handedly qualified them for the world cup by going to Ecuado to score 3 goals? (hattrick)?

Problem is, they rely too much on him in Argentina while the rest go to sleep. Chemistry is surely missing in their squad.

Messi is a victim of his own success.
Partly agree with you. And partly disagree.

Messi I think simply hasn't raised his game at the World Cup or even at the copa America: the biggest competitions.

As someone with 5 WPOTY he should in my opinion be the driving force of this Argentina side. Ronaldo showed us yesterday what responding to expectation of a nation means against a top side.

Shining in qualifying is different from doing it at the real tournament. Iceland has players that are part time. No excuse for not beating them if you have Messi in your side.

I agree with you when you speak of chemistry issues but I think Argentina over the last decade or so have too much talent at their disposal and the managers/coaches of the national side over this period just picks stars (possibly to make his job easier) instead of functional players who can play together.

Confirmation is a constitutional requirement which they must execute.

It doesn't confer on them the power to summon on a personal basis.

The IG can send a deputy to act on his behalf as enshrined in the constitution.

In accordance with the extant laws in Nigeria, the functions, duties and responsibilities of the Inspector General of Police as stated in Section 215(1a) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, and the Police Act and Regulations Section 309(1) can also be carried out as mentioned in sections 7(1),312(1), 313(2) of the Police Act and Regulations by a senior officer of the Force of the Rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police or an Assistant Inspector General of Police who if permitted by the Inspector General of Police to act on his behalf or represent him in an official capacity at any official function, event or programme within and outside Nigeria can do so in consonant with the provisions of the Police Act and Regulations.
Please educate me because you are usually well informed on these matters:

Does the Senate have the powers to summon the IG?

Please, does the fact that the IG answer directly to the president have anything to do with the rights or otherwise of the senate to summon him?

Just asking.
