It’s 32 days today to the highly contested Anambra State Gubernatorial Election scheduled to hold on Saturday November 6, 2021, and the electorates in the state are charged and ready with their permanent voters card (PVC), to vote the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Dr. Obiora Okonkwo.

Political actors in the state and the Obiora Campaign team are campaigning, moving from door to door, house to house and meeting people at town halls to get the buy in of all the stakeholders and electorates in the state.

It was a very colorful day in Ogidi, the home town of the incoming Governor of Anambra state and Guber Candidate of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Dr. Obiora Okonkwo, as he played host to thousands of citizens, including traditional rulers, elders, youths and women who trooped out in their numbers for the annual new yam festival.

During the ceremony, Dr. Okonkwo once again displayed his rich cultural heritage and promised to continue to promote Igbo culture as governor of the state if elected on November 6, 2021.

The high point of the occasion was the presentation of gift and food items to the public, including tubers of yam, etc. The festival took place at his residence in Ogidi, Anambra State on Saturday, October 2, 2021.

Anambra Guber: Highlights of ZLP Guber Candidate, Dr. Obiora Okonkwo’s Interview on AIT Kakaaki.

The incoming Governor of Anambra state and Guber Candidate of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), in the November 6, 2021 Election, Dr. Obiora Okonkwo, was a guest on African Independent Television (AIT), Kakaaki this morning.

During the interview, the ZLP Guber Candidate, Dr. Okonkwo reassured the people of Anambra state that his election into office as the next governor of the state will change the entire economic wellbeing of the people.

He promised to mobilize about $10 billion investment for the state, through the Russia-Nigeria Chamber of Commerce, an organization created by Dr. Okonkwo to aid commerce and a link between Nigerian businesses and Russian Federation.

He also informed Nigerians and Ndi-Anambra in particular that Russian Businessmen are already in Nigeria for the formal inauguration of the Nigeria-Russia Chamber of Commerce.

On the issues of insecurity and the operation of the indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Dr. Okonkwo assured that he will engage the group on the way forward as soon as he assumes office as the Governor of the state.

He decried the lack of quality engagements by the current All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), administration in the state and promised to tackle the issues differently.

The incoming Governor of Anambra State and Guber Candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Dr Obiora Okonkwo has promised to establish a Ministry of Diaspora Affairs, when he assumes office as the next governor of the State.

The former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olisa Metuh sympathizes with the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, who slumped at a public function at the Presidential villa earlier today.

Chief Metuh notes that the development not only points to the frailties of human beings but also to the fact that anybody, irrespective of age and apparent vitality, can be confronted with a serious health challenge at any point.

The former PDP spokesperson notes that if such can happen to the youthful Commission’s chairman, who is not even under the stress of trial, then it should serve as a lesson to the EFCC, particularly, its media department, on the impropriety of labelling and making mockery of defendants and suspects confronted with health challenges.

Nigerians can recall how the EFCC had gone to the media to unjustly label, mock and deride Chief Metuh when he fell ill during his trial; how he was forced to attend court on hospital stretcher, wheelchair and crutches, and how he was denied access to medical treatment despite manifest traumatic and life-threatening health challenge he faced.

Nigerians can recall how the EFCC mocked and satirized Chief Metuh when he collapsed in the courtroom on one of the days he was forced to come to court despite his health challenge.

Chief Metuh counsels the EFCC Chairman to immediately get medical attention so as not to experience the pains, complications, trauma and dangers he (Metuh) faced when he was denied access to medical treatment by Justice Okon Abang following the hardstand adopted by the EFCC, which he now chairs.

In the same vein, Chief Metuh urges Nigerians, especially those with busy and tasking schedules, to pay more attention to their health situation so as to avoid such scenarios.

Anambra Guber: Over 10,000 PDP Members Decamps to ZLP-

As political parties and stakeholders in Anambra state prepares ahead of the November 6, 2021 Governorship election, more than 10,000 members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in southern and Northern Senatorial District of the state have decamped in droves to Dr Obiora Okonkwo’s new political party, the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

According to reports, the decamping PDP members hails from Orumba North and South, Nnewi South, Ihiala, Ekwusigo and Aguata Local Government Areas of Anambra state. Others are from Onitsha North and South, Anambra East and Anambra West LGAs.

It will be recalled that after the shambolic PDP primaries in June 2021, a serving senator of the federal republic of Nigeria, representing Anambra North Senatorial District, Senator Stella Oduah Ogiemwonyi, decamped to the All Progressives Congress (APC), among other party leaders in the state.

Reasons given by some of the members of the party for moving to Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), was because of the overbearing attitude of the former governor of the state, Mr. Peter Obi.

They also declared that their decisions were to support and work for the victory of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Guber Candidate, Dr. Obiora Okonkwo, whose mandate was stolen by Peter Obi at the PDP primary in June 2021.

In the same manner, in 2017, Mr. Peter Obi stole the mandate of Obiogbolu of the PDP which eventually led to the disgraceful outing of Mr. Oseloka H. Obaze in the election.

After that disgraceful outing, Mr. Obi came out to tell Ndi Anambra that he didn’t know that Mr Obaze was not a popular Candidate.

The same scenario is currently playing out in the state today with the nomination of Valentine Ozigbo and the massive decamping of PDP members to Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).

With what is happening in Anambra state, ZLP will likely take over the seat of power in the state on November 6, 2021.

Governorship candidate of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Dr Obiora Okonkwo has lamented the deplorable state of rural roads in the state.

He said the present condition of the roads were heartbreaking and noted that he has developed a Special Ward Development Scheme for rapid intervention in rural road infrastructure across the 326 wards in the state which he would immediately implement if elected governor.

Publicity Secretary of ZLP Campaign Council, Afam Dozie Ofomata, in a statement, said although rural road development was under the purview of local governments, Okonkwo has however mapped out a strategy that would allow the state to specially intervene in the interest of Ndi Anambra living in the rural areas.

“Under the special scheme, each ward in the state would be allowed to nominate a road for urgent direct intervention by the state government through a direct labour system to be managed and executed by youths in the respective wards.

“The ZLP is deeply disturbed by the utter neglect of the rural areas by the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), which prefers to use politics to deny the people of their deserved wellbeing despite the huge resources at its disposal.

“Under an Okonkwo-led administration, funds which are currently being wasted and frittered by the corrupt and incompetent APGA administration and which are not accounted for would be laid bare and channelled towards such interventions.

“It is even more disturbing that APGA seeks to perpetuate their insensitivity towards Ndi Anambra by adopting Prof. Chukwuma Soludo who has no operable plan for rural development, as its governorship candidate.

“It is instructive to state that being the puppet of the outgoing governor, Willie Obiano, and having no operable agenda for rural development, the situation would be worse if APGA is voted back to power.

“Moreover, apart from ZLP and Dr. Okonkwo, no other party or candidate has shown practical blueprint and commitment towards uplifting the living standard of Ndi Anambra.

“The ZLP holds as evil that leaders should live in opulence out of the resources made for better living standard for the poor. November 6 therefore marks the end of such injustice with the election of Obiora Okonkwo as governor.

“Dr. Okonkwo believes in the ability, capabilities, industry and wellbeing of Ndi Anambra in the rural areas and as such, would prioritize their development need immediately he is elected governor.

“The ZLP calls on leaders of wards, particularly the youths, to commence consultation on preferred roads for government intervention immediately Dr. Okonkwo is elected governor.

“The youths are in this regard directed to organize themselves into development groups for the smooth execution of the direct labour projects.

“The ZLP calls on all Ndi Anambra not to relent in resisting the shenanigans of the APGA and come out en masse to vote for their coalition candidate, Okonkwo, by thumb printing for ZLP, the party strategically located as the last on the ballot paper”, the statement read.

Meanwhile, Dr. Okonkwo, has assured youths in the state of new policy directives that would help them actualise their dreams.

Okonkwo, who spoke at the New Yam festival of youths of Nkwelle Etiti in Awkuzu, Oyi Local Government Area of the state at the weekend, said his administration would usher in a new era of youth development in the state.

Accompanied by his running mate, Dame Jessie Balonwu and other members of his campaign team, Okonkwo assured the youths that he would pursue policies that would help them realise their individual dreams.

“When I look at the youths of Anambra, I see a lot of Dangote, Ibeto, Innoson, Jim Ovia etc. I see a lot of Michael Jackson, Bob Marley, Phyno and the rest. But it is sad that you have not explored your potentials to the full because government has not pursued policies that aim at helping you actualise your talents.

“Anambra youths are talented. They are blessed and ready to explode on the world stage. Many of you here have the capacity to become the next big icons on the world stage. However, I know that you have been held down by poor policy directions of successive governments”, he said.

Commending Nkwelle Etiti youths for observing the new yam festival, Okonkwo said the Igbo culture is rich and deeply rooted in the life of the people.

He said anyone who dissociates from his or her culture cannot enjoy a balanced life.

According to him “culture is a way of life and I am very happy that our youths are following in the tradition of our forebears by observing the new yam festival complete with all the colourful masquerades that add value to our culture.”

He assured that the state government under his leadership will enunciate policies that will ensure the transformation of cultural festivals into revenue yielding ventures for the state and the communities.

“As a government, we shall put in place policies that will take these cultural festivals to new economic levels and make them to become huge revenue earning avenues”, he said.

Commending Dr. Okonkwo for personally honouring youths of Nkwelle Etiti, a youth leader in the area, Izunna Okeke, said youths in Anambra are solidly behind his aspiration to lead the state into a new era of development.

He told journalists that Dr. Okonkwo’s vision and ideas were incomparable to those of his co-contestants.

Former PDP spokesperson, Chief Olisa Metuh, has on Saturday put smile on the faces of Kuje prison inmates.

Chief Olisah Metuh, via his foundation, Legend Golden Care Foundation, which he chairs, has before now been doing charity works such as orphan aid, scholarship to indigent students, among many other acts of philantropy.

However, his prison experience birthed an initiative of the Foundation which is primarily focused on helping indigent inmates with the provision of probono legal services, rehabilitation and reintegration into the society as well as giving aids to the families of those in prisons.

Moreso, as part of its activities to put smiles and elate the spirit of the inmates beyond the walls of the prison, Legend Golden Care Foundation Foundation has fully taken over the sponsorship and organisation of a football league in Kuje prison.

According to Metuh, the Kuje prison football competition courtesy of his Foundation's initiative, Beyond The Walls Initiative, shall henceforth be an annual event, with the maiden edition which held on Saturday, September 11, 2021.

On Seeing Olisa Metuh, the inmates were excited and full of life. The prison yard erupted like a mini-festival, as he received reverberating welcome from them. "Akajugo Nnewi" rented the air in the prison environ as the inmates chanted Olisa Metuh's traditional title (Akajugo Nnewi).

The sight and the reaction by the prison inmates showed that Metuh has been able to, before now, touch their lives in very special ways and they have become fond of him in the proces. His kind gestures have become a source of hope for them.

The moral from the visit, is that it is good to be good and it is good to do good in all places anyone finds himself or herself.

Metuh declared that the Beyond The Walls Initiative competition as sponsored by his Foundation, Legend Golden Care Foundation, will henceforth be hel dacross all the correctional facilities in the FCT as an annual event. According to Metuh, the initiative will cover both the male and female inmates.

"The essence is to give the inmates an avenue to exercise their bodies. It also is to give the inmates hope that they can become better persons in the society", Metuh said.

Via the initiative, Metuh will also be giving the highest rate of probono services ever heard of in Abuja and in Nigeria. The idea is to give inmates who cannot afford legal representation, free legal representation. This way, he will be able to help the wrongly jailed inmates, get justice.

The teams that emerged first, second and third in the football tournament were all given prizes. In addition, the first three highest goalscorers were given prizes. Prizes were also given to the best three players in the tournament.

Chief Metuh commended the Federal Government for coming up with enabling environment at correctional centres, such that can help sharpen the minds of the prison inmates, as well as boosting their individual wellbeing.

He further noted that the activities help in training the minds of the prison inmates, such that they are imbued with what it takes to be better persons in the society at the end of their time in prison.

Chief Metuh used the opportunity to encourage public spirited Nigerians to show more concern and empathy to those in prison as there are many who are unjustly incarcerated.

Indeed, Chief Metuh made the day of the Kuje prison inmates and they are indeed full of thanks, appreciation and hope.

He also built and donated a school to his home community in Ogidi, and brought in the Catholic Religious Order of Sisters of Divine Mercy, to manage it.
Fees at the school are fully subsidized by him.

He also built and donated churches and supported different religious causes across the denominations. A strong believer in poverty eradication through skills acquisition for youths, he was the 2019 Face of Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) -an annual event of Rotary International which brings together youths from across the globe for leadership and entrepreneurial training.

To demonstrate his support for the programme, he sponsored several Anambra youths to the Rotary Booth Camp where they learned different self-actualizing skills.

Dr Obiora Okonkwo is a man of the people and loved by all.

Yea I do go to there house to look for my girlfriend and for sure they offer me food, will I now turn down the food u no how this African mothers behave, so I don't no if that's the reason she sent her daughter to ask me to borrow her money.... My girlfriend do work but her salaries she use for there problems and her younger sister fees and she runs to me when she is broke... You still need to grow up and you sound like an ingrate.

You even interpretes a kind gesture by the mom (offering you food whenever you visit) as being the reason for the asking for assistance?

You willingly gave your GF money whenever she is broke (not under compulsion) and still use it against her? It is better you don't give at all than to use your giving against the person you assisted... You need CHRIST!

If your GF's mother seeks your assistance it simply means she sees you as someone she can run to. If you have the means to assist, kindly do... if otherwise, politely inform her. (As a rule I always borrow what I can afford to let go).

But it is pathetic to nag about it online and rubbish her and her family.

Seeking loan is NEVER a crime nor something to be ashamed of!

Mr Man, stop being a child.

Give her what you can afford to let go if you have or respectfully decline if otherwise. You don't need to seek public opinion to make personal decision.

The incoming Deputy Governor of Anambra state on the platform of Zenith Labour Party (ZLP), Dame Barr Jessie Balonwu, today, received in audience delegations from Onitsha High School Old Boys Students Association (OHSOSA). The event took place at her residence in Anambra state.
