Technology Market / Re: Professor On Any Type Of Generator. by HRHGambino(m): 6:25am On Feb 23, 2018
Thnk you prof. I changed the fuel line, fuel hose and serviced the carburetor. The generator is okay now.

enochogaga:

except the fuel horse is block totally then there is a problem with horse but is not possible for dirty or something to block fuel horse finally without it not being force inside.
what I suspect is ur cab is either fuel is too much or fuel is is not much for it to run.

Now this is what u will do, remove the fuel hors from the fuel, to confirm that fuel is flowing from the tank, if it flowing, then connect the fuel horse back and on the fuel tap for 5sec and off it back, then start, if it start then on the the fuel line, if it still go off then ur cab need service.

Good day Prof,

The choke lever on my 3.8kva Lutian generator 7-8 months old got loose recently and I got my technician to fix it. In the process of tightening it, he said the fuel hose was also leaking fuel. I have not observed any leak around my generator but I felt there was no need to argue with him since he is the expert. He replaced it with another hose and I told him I don't see any cut on my former hose. He said the opening of the hose was wider than it should be. Anyway we tested the gen a few times for a few seconds and all was fine. Fast forward 3 hours later, I put on the gen but it won't come on. After a few tries, it reluctantly came on for about 20 seconds and went off. It hasn't come on again. Could that hose be the problem? Is fuel not being supplied as it should? Should I insist that he replaces it with my original hose? This is a relatively new generator with no faults prior to this time.

Err how do these zoning arrangements affect you and I really? If none of these guys is closely related to you, then you must be quite foolish coming here to fight someone else because of another person's ambition. They ceded blah blah blah to SS or NC...how would it impact any meaningful development in the region? Smh

Politics / Re: Armed Robbers At Mile 2 Traffic (how Safe Is Mile2) by HRHGambino(m): 8:00pm On Mar 04, 2015
That axis is just horrible! Plain horrible. Was robbed there as well last week, on top the mile 2 bridge. My take is that the police are conniving with these hoodlums to reign terror. A new assignment at work infers that I would have to go to Festac as often as once a week. Decided to ply Ago Palace and the road there is just hell! Took me 2hrs to go through Ago to Cele. I've decided to do my Festac runs via telecommuting. From after Oshodi down to Apapa, everywhere the Apapa-Oshodi exp cuts through has been totally abandoned by LASG/FG. Sad!
Phone/Internet Market / Re: List Of Confirmed Data Resellers On Nairaland by HRHGambino(m): 9:00am On Dec 02, 2014
Good morning NL,

My advice to anyone subscribing to these offerings is that, be prepared for anything that comes your way because it's far from being foolproof. A friend introduced one data reseller (Dr Mallo or Mallo Gerard) last week friday to me and I purchased 2Gb worth of etisalat data for N2,700 from him. My mistake was that I failed to check its validity after purchasing it. The data to my surprise expired just after 2 days with about 1.7gb left. Getting him to refund me of course fell on deaf ears. (Still not sure which annoyed me more, the fact that he said he won't refund me or his arrogant disposition. I'd say both.)

The pros of this service obviously is that it is cheaper than standard telco rates but the cons remain that you don't control how the data is managed and some of them fail to rollover their plans before it expires which means getting the faceless individual to refund you would be on GOOD FATE.

Personally I'd prefer to keep subscribing directly from the telcos or possibly just get a mifi router. I hope you learn a thing or two from my experience. Cheers.

Car Talk / Re: Beware Of Catalyst Stealing Mechanics, Welders And Car Dealers!!!! by HRHGambino(m): 1:33am On Jan 07, 2014
Nice post @ car-doctor.

Please I got my car scanned and had the following results;

P0420 Catalyst system efficiency below threshold (bank 1)

P2716 pressure Control solenoid " D " electrical.

It's a 2007 Toyota Corolla. So far I've not had any issues as regards bad fuel consumption or noisy/smoky exhaust but I'd like an advise on how to fix these OBD errors before getting my car out for a fix.

Also the car vibrates when idling. It reduces a bit when moved into neutral. Having the engine mounts and cat converters inspected tomorrow. Is there a correlation between these issues? Would really appreciate your professional advice on how to get them fixed.
Car Talk / Re: Are You Always Conscious Of The Value Of Your Car? by HRHGambino(m): 9:45pm On Jan 05, 2014
I just got a new car (first car) and even though I admit, I enjoy the feeling I'm experiencing from getting something new, the mind-stress associated with having to take care of it like it's a new born baby annoys me. Trying to avoid the slightest scratch in any way possible, checking for any odd sound or the likes from the car and all that stuff. Wish I could just pretend I've had it for awhile.
Car Talk / Re: Fix All Your Troubling Car Issues by HRHGambino(m): 8:44am On Jan 04, 2014
Hello guys please I need assistance with interpreting and resolving these error codes thrown up by a scan I had on my car yesterday.
1: p0420 - Catalyst system efficiency below threshold bank 1
2: p2716 - Pressure Control solenoid "grin" electrical

Also, I think I should state that I'm not having any issues with fuel consumption issues or the likes. Reason I ran the scan is cause the "check engine light" and "maintenance service required" lights have been up for about awhile now. The car vibrates when idling and that's about it. It's a 2007 Toyota Corolla CE.
Car Talk / Re: lagosians are extremely terrible drivers by HRHGambino(m): 8:20am On Jan 04, 2014
Haha! I like this thread. As for me I'm tired of even shouting, yelling or cursing out at these ignorant drivers. I've resolved to employing extra care (feet on brake pedal every second) and making sure I extract every kobo for repairs from any idiot that (God-forbid) rams into me. 90% of Lagos drivers do not know how to drive! Just yesterday while driving on 3MB, I decided to switch lanes to the right. After signalling to the driver in the adjacent lane with my trafficator and making a move for it, one idiot with no warning whatsoever from God knows where rushed into the space, almost even hitting me while at it. I looked at the guy when I was parallel with him on traffic and just as I was about to curse out at him, I realised the guy was an old man, probably in his late 50s to early 60s. I just became weak and went my way. Truth is while driving on Lagos roads, you have to drive for both yourself and other drivers too. That's sometimes the best precaution.

inze:

You entered an invalid VIN: 1NXBR32E772872960
Your VIN needs to be:

Exactly 17 characters.
For a vehicle manufactured after 1980 (1981 or later model year.)
Without the letters I, O, or Q.

Sorry about that inze. Here's the corrected VIN 1NXBR32E77Z872960

Car Talk / Re: What Do You Want In A Car Before Purchase? by HRHGambino(m): 9:06am On Dec 08, 2013
Very interesting thread. For me I am biased to go with maintenance costs and I would tell you why. If you live in Lagos, you would agree that traffic alone would prevent many car owners from fully optimising the performance-related benefits of their vehicles. Whether you own a 1.5l l4 or 3.0l v6, truth is both car owners would likely get to their destinations at the same time courtesy of traffic. So why pay more when in reality you are actually going to utilise less?
