Actually, if you read my 2022 post (it's the last post on the first page of this thread), it ended up costing them more.

The manufacturer had almost finished the train by the time the new governor said that he didn't want it. The manufacturer sued the government and won compensation in court. The old government had previously made part payment for the trains.

Yet Milwaukee still didn't get the trains. The manufacturer sold them to Lagos (the reason Lagos went for it is because it was cheaper because the manufacturer had already made a lot of money from it).
Well, I see why the train contract was cancelled the former governor and the current one are from different political platforms. But IMO, that was a daft move, knowing the manufacturer won't just look away, in fact, the current Governor cost the state more money than he was trying to prevent. Well, their lose, Lagosians' gain.

Rail transportation isn't a profit generating enterprise anywhere in the world......the new govt at the time could believe they could still make use of the hold ones they had and not taken on extra debt acquiring new ones or maybe some malfeasance had been detected in the purchase and could refuse to go ahead with the deal.
You are right to a very large extent. But IMO, public transportation is quite profitable to a govt that harnesses the opportunities it present. For example, almost 90% of the German population uses the public transportation system. Now, while I know for a fact that the German govt generates a lot of money from it, one needs to look past just that and consider the direct or indirect contributions it makes to a city or country's economy...smooth and timely movement of goods and people (which boosts productivity, tourism, etc).

Fake news.

The trains are not used. A city ordered for the trains, but there was an election before they finished building the trains and the new government decided that it didn't want the trains. The Lagos State Government then bought it from the manufacturer. I created the thread back then.

The Red Line was started and completed by Governor Sanwo-Olu.
So this madness happens in saner climes too, whereby a govt will initiate a project that is beneficial to the people, then his successor comes in and cancels. Well, I rarely see abandoned projects through successive administrations though.

One of the criteria responsible people use in employing a coach is track records, something our FA never cares about... teams he has coached, his success with them and how long he stayed on the jobs and how and why he left. If those records aren't smooth, there is no way he would perform. Take Pesseiro for example, he hardly stayed on a job more than a year before getting sacked throughout his career, the rest is history.

Las Las, he will still make that move, albeit, far below valuation and camp's expectations. But going forward, he will need to work harder wherever he finds himself, to convince people that the Osimhen of 2022/2023 season was no fluke. He needs to humble himself as if he's just breaking out. Enough said, I hope he learns
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) › Re: Aston Villa Vs Arsenal (0 - 2) On 24th 2024 by humberjade: 9:17am On Aug 25, 2024
What happened to Aston Villa yesterday is a replica of what happened to Arsenal at the Emirates against Villa last season, Arsenal wasted a lot of early chances, only for Villa to steal the match in the last minutes. The only difference, Arsenal controlled possession, and did the damage early enough.

There is no way you will mistakenly pick that bag at the airport, because it would have been flagged and seized before it gets to you.

You think we don't know what is going on in the South East? People selling their children to eat, I pray they don't start eating their children.

We hold our own leaders accountable when they are being a disappointment, we are not like the Northerners who look away or the South Easterns to look away from the ineptitude of their own leaders, instead looking miles away for scapegoats to blame for their misfortunes. We support our own to the latter and we voice out when he's not performing.

People's gazette will receive attack by npawarians with maggots infested brains for exposing the truth. See the way the first comment tried to hypocritically embrace blame mechanism to change narrative.

Imagine if it's any other state that did this?. I said it time without number that you can't give what you don't have. Leadership with developmental acumen lies in the gene 🧬. If your lineage don't have, you don't have it.

How has all the mental features you mentioned worked out for your people in politics, governance and leadership? You only see the worse in others while turning a blind eye to the numerous deadbeat Governors that have come out of your region.

Arsenal scored almost 90 goals last season, more than any other team except Mancity, which striker them want again?
The Man City that won the league, right? While Arsenal had the best defence last season, the lack of a killer striker cost them most of the matches in which they dropped points last season. They created chances but failed to score away to Man City, Villa and Newscastle away...in the same vein, they failed to score goals despite all the chance created until they were put to the sword late on by Villa at the Emirates. At the very least, the team needs a striker with aerial prowess, or someone who can singlehandedly create and score goals when things are tight around the 18.

Politics is a job, a career for most people. And just like any other job, the topmost thing on anyone's mind is financial and career fulfilment. If you're no longer satisfied with one place, you move to the next. It's as simple as that. It's even easier to move from one party to the next in a country like Nigeria where there are no tangible ideological lines between parties.

As if she's the incumbent President, while she's on a joint ticket with Biden, whatever happens in this administration is mainly attached to Biden. He is the Commander-in-Chief, and he has his close aides who make sure his orders are followed to the latter. As a vice, you can bring ideas, it could be taken in and then discarded. How many people remembers Pence? Just like in our polity, deputies and vices are spare tyres all over the world. And have you forgotten Clinton actually won the popular votes by almost 2m votes, it was the US electoral system that got Trump in the last time, that's what Harris is working on. Plus while the Democrats are united to get Harris elected, Republicans are fractured. Although, they are yet to debate, and Harris hasn't really spelt out her policies, so fingers crossed.
